PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I still find close corner shots, high and low, very easy to score from the sides. When trying to bend it in the opposite corner the keepers are just fantastic every time. When 1 on 1 from anywhere, basically, just gently tap lob just at the right moment (which seems to be quite a big gap of time) and watch the ball go in.

I have to say that 1.06 was a huge step in the right direction though. That patch alone got my hopes up for PES again. It's a rollercoaster these days...
 
Keepers problems are all command error (script bug) related since they are near, faultless in Training mode, only issue would be they need more animations but they have no serious issues whatsoever in training mode, they are fine.
 
I disagree klash I tested the keepers in training mode with my frnd using ronaldo . And neuer was always geting beat frm a particular angle in training mode . He kept diving into the net, clipping through the crossbar and palming it in sometimes. But I admit that sometimes the keeper reacts properly to those situations. But these occurences are too few its almost as if the keepers were not programmed to handle that situation. Hence u see the keeper using an animation for a variety of instances. For example when the keepers stand up with their back after a 1 on 1. This leads to many goals frm rebounds
 
And also anybody who says the gameplay or AI is no different should please play 11 vs cpu 11 players in training mode and set it on defend not attack. Put fouls on too, and see for urself . It actually made me a better defender, quite demanding and rewarding when you score 1 goal. I agree with klash about the command issues ingame , but the keepers are a little more than command issues to me. I guess pple aren't so patient because the defending on pes 13 was snappy, quick almost like you were controlling a missile. My theory is that it is a consequence of the ball freedom. Konami are close but not there yet

On superstar? hmm i'm surprised. Tested it on superstar the keepers are near faultless. When you go into training mode by default it's set to regular. You need to make sure you always change it before you start or pause the game and go to options i think. What you described sounds like regular difficulty goalkeepers, i tested them also they sound like you describe.

I was taking a pounding from PSG in on instance, along with some other games and my keeper saved me countless times in training mode. They still need a lot more animations i agree.

Its was set on superstar u can try it urself I tested neuer with ronaldo apply left spin aim toward the crossbar and ul see for urself or try playing a freekick at 45m on the far right ul see the keeper standing at one far end
 
Ohh ok, that is a shame. In the training matches i played they seemed so good :(

No, the problem with the keepers IS that they have been programmed from scratch and they need more work, animations and codes added to them!
 
I agree with you klash because some keeper animations are new this year like softly collecting a soft ball,telling the players to move high up,making some saves with the legs. De gea saved one for me y.day, I dunno how possibe it is to patch animations in I highly doubt it.... I also noticed something the AI can be dicks sometyms especially if the game was tight 2-1,3-2 etc , towards the end of the match probably around injury time the cpu AI actually tries to frustrate you by passing at the back, it doesn't happen for very long, buh its noticable. Jst played manchester united vs belgium(CPU) although it was a very close game cpu belgium won 2-1, and at injury time started passing at the back to kill time.... Very clever programming from konami it shows how much work they actually put in the game... I admit they need a bigger and more exposed dev team buh their effort is quite commendable , the game can really be good fun
 
In my opinion 1.01 was much better than 1.04, which turned PES 2014 into fast kick and run fest, something like PES 2012. Guys, please tell me that 1.06 turns back to simulation way? :II
 
This Question is directed at LAMI and the evoweb moderators.. is there a way evoweb can work together and create a very comprehensive feedback not just written feedback ,with videos, if possible with some evoweb members explaining what the issues are on ground gameplaywise with videos illustrating keeper errors,awareness,response, shooting , if possible draw on past games for reference so even the japanese dev team will find it easy to understand, then the evoweb members can even point out using some videos and video editing what the other game does right in some instances keepers for example mention how terrible the user interface is and give some examples with evoweb members-made User Interface.. Also touch on expectation for pes 2015 nextgen. Stating with video clips what the other game does well commentary,chants .... Stating that pes 2015 must surpass what the other game has started..... 60fps Replays, cloth physics, and a commentary worthy of the year 2014 , the transition from one animation to another should be polished..... More modes and probably introduce a feature to separate pes from any othe football game , the master league should rival football manager in depth even showing clips from football manager with video editing even if there are no licenses modders can do the rest, better soundtracks too showing pics or videos of pes 2009, also state that we need all those feature from the past pes games that made it great even from the ps2 era temprature and humidity, injured players bandaged, attack defense level for each player like on the old games,also show fans leaving, more varied celebrations, more pronounced individuality, if possible manager faces for each licensed teams like nba 2k does, and make the editable so that modders can do the rest .... I'll love to hear what u think about this... Let's save pes
 
Evoweb members can add more points that I have missed, let us try this tym and see if konami will understand, it should have lots of videos so that it will be easy for konami developers to understand if possible have some of our japanese members see if they can subtitle the video presentation. I will be waiting for your opinion (sorry for my english)

What I mean is, arms and legs of keepers should react to ball independently, new engine, year is 2013. They still have preset animations, whatever the context on the pitch is. That's why I say it's same as ps1 era. (sorry for my English).
 
Hang on I have had a keeper stick out an arm as the ball was chipped over his body.

Not to mention the use of legs and arms
arms one on one. I really don't think they are that bad except that blasted parry into their own goals that make me have a total rage when it happens. And the dipshit keeper standing rooted on his line when the action is in the opposition box.

Surely, surely Konami knows these problem exist

PES animations already do that, but you still need several preset animations otherwise you'll get "impossible" limb movements. FIFA does things differently, they have a complex animation system that automatically adjusts the entire body position, but it doesn't always give you good results,

I think pretty much all of us (including guys on other blogs/forums) agree on 3-5 key points with the game though which Konami need to take seriously either for future patches of this title (which they'd be well-advised to continue doing given the shitstorm they've created) and PES 2015 out of the box.

Although I've been loving FIFA NG on the XboxOne, I still think the look and feel of PES 2014 if the bugs were corrected would make it the better game. Heck, if they could update PES 6/2007 with the 2014 graphics I'd be happier than a pig in shit.

I'm looking forward to PES NG because theoretically speaking, they have no excuses for the engine not working properly with that level of spec available to them. Having said that, I have an Alienware laptop and it's not like PES 2014 runs on that flawlessly so somebody effed up with the programming somewhere.

Haven't played with the 1.06 patch yet. Might give it a whirl and see how it feels. I'm sure the keepers still suck giraffe balls from close range but hopefully it's overall more of a positive feel than 1.04.
 
One of the reasons its so bad for me though is because they listened to feedback instead of making the game they wanted.

Now we have a hybrid of PES and FIFA and it fails badly, I wish they would just sack off WENB and concentrate on making what they think is a good game without these leeches.

I do think Konami should keep it simple, like the PS2 days. I think they went down the wrong road and got themselves in a bit of a pickle trying to implement unnecessary features such advanced through balls and shooting, teammate controls and combination plays.

Fuck animations, honestly. PES was at it's best when the players looked liked awkward robots. Maximum flexibility, variety and responsiveness in movement. Thats what matters and thats what got people playing.

They've forgotten the fundamentals that made the game great. Some of the improvements they've made are great, especially on the technical and engine aspects, but they're worthless when its lacking in so many different areas.
 
i feel the core gameplay of 1.01 is beautiful but feedback might create an arcade fest. Jst because pple want instant responsiveness. I dont want them to ruin their vision, dats why i want us to feedback issues we all agree on, still played today and the animations are not as varied as pple may want it but it is jst so natural and fluid and pleasing.
 
quick question, who here dribbles with Right analog(weight shift) combined with sprint? I seldom use it pre 1.06, but maybe its me, maybe its placebo but with 1.06 it seems a tad more effective, and that increases with the high dribbling stat players. I just scored a goal via this with Sanchez dribbling with this technique for like 30 yards. That said, this technique is difficult to use but when used right, it feels so fluid and responsive.

one thing about 1.06, players are definitely more responsive and the defensive awareness are also much better imo. I'm enjoying it so far, it also feels more simulation than arcadey imo

edit: forgot to add I'm playing the PC version lol..but this thread seems more active than the PC one..

Agree with this to an extent, but I think it's fair to say PES started going off-course well before there was any serious drive for player feedback. PES2008 was fucking awful, which was Konami's fault and nobody else's.

Konami have tried and failed to appeal to a wider audience by borrowing elements of FIFA, and in doing so are in danger of losing the loyal fanbase.

All I want is for PES to get back to its roots. A simpler game with one control system - no pass assist settings, no advanced shooting or through-balls - none of that bollocks. I want reliable but not infallible 'keepers. A shooting system that allows for a variety of goals from close and long range. Response times need to be sharper to allow for the snappy, close control that PES was famous for. Let's have diverse AI with some semblance of intelligence. An online mode that feels modern and functions correctly.

Basically a simple, solid game that works. Too much to ask for?
 
Been having a blast with this game today , jst played the most realistic match against the CPU. no keeper errors, played as chelsea and I have concluded that eden hazard has player I.D. The way he controlled a lofted throughball I gave him without loosing momentum was jst sublime the cpu ai played patient football and only changed their play, when I started getting frantic for a goal . I still noticed today that the ai occasionally take bad touches so its definetely not placebo. I also agree that using the sprint button with the right analog stick adds a new dimension to dribbling , it can be really fluid , sometyms It helps me turn when I'm running without loosing momentum . John Terry too has player I.D the way he passes and controls the ball is different from cahill and david Luiz, saw a nyc animation today where he tried to block a shot in the 18-yard box. He actually put his hand behind his back to prevent being called for handball it wuz stunning . I knw pes doesn't have handball but its a good base to build on if the players have that intelligence . I urge pple to test eden hazard and john terry , those two stand out for me, still enjoying the game with my sprint and right analog stick
