Now after pacth 1.06 i can say that i am enjoying more PES2014 than 2013.

Konami disrespected your fans releasing a unfinished game with great potencial, now I can see clearly their objetive.

PES2014 is hard to play, after patch 1.04 i started to play (before it was impossible to have fun) and after few hours i could enjoy more than in the begin.

Some changes were so drastic that a lot of people can't adapt. First big change we can't sprint like before, now you need to choose wisely the moment to do it. And the real sprint is now pressing 2x the button.
Second is that the ball doesn't pass trought or beside the players so often like it did in PES2013.

The players aweareness and reaction still need a little improvements especially in the moment when two players collide.
(soory the crap english)

My sentiments

Played onlinr lastnight

The game was lag free and splendid.

This game is not for the faint hearted and needs true grit to master. I hope Konami keep this formula. Screw the pes 6 fan club.

my thoughts exactly! thats why i love pes it takes months to master

i just hope konami never listens to the fans who want a "simple"

game.

Please don't misguide Konami...why are we playing game ?? Is it our profession ?! No.We play games just for fun and mind refreshment ! So we need fun from pes..we are not playing a 90 min match..but we need the whole 90 min action, thrill, fun in 10-15 min.The fun factor is totally out from PES 2014..WE NEED A BALANCE OF FUN AND REALISM.

The fun factor is more present here than it ever were.

I would like some more oomph in the shots though, but I am playing in the Argentine league at the moment and I've noticed an astonishing amount of players have below 80 Shot Power so that might be the problem. AFAIK people in Argentina doesn't shoot weaker than people in England...

100% agree with you !

Pes 6 was very enjoyable, but i don't want to go back
at this level and way of thinking(playing).
I never understood this "un-responsiveness" issue, by the way!
As PES players, we should ask for "reality" and not "responsiveness".
When ball comes to you, you have to make the correct dribbling, i have lost many times the ball with Ibrahimovic when first touching the ball.
In Pes 6 i remember that i used to play as Inter Milan, having as attackers Adriano and Ibra, i could never lose the ball. I could dribble without even pressing R or L.

Just to add this.

Pes must be a football simulation!
There is an other football video game that offers plenty of "fun".
I dodn't say this to offend anyone, but this is the truth.
If Pes becomes more "funny" then i will quit football video games
and i will only play BF4 online.

Or NBA2K14 maybe...

Yeah, you are also very funny...join Konami and make more fun with the fans.

I've been a long term fan of the series and I don't like you saying "the fans" when you clearly just represent yourself and some fans.

I think PES5&PES6 was splendid when they came out, but today they are old games that hasn't aged well. This is my opinion. I liked PES2011 very much, and PES2013 was really good. PES2014 is their best work ever but it also has bigger issues than before.

History proves two things, Konami will fix it and the "fans" will complain. That being said, are you really a fan if you haven't liked any of the games they released since 2005?

Merry X-mas

The real problem is not the goalkeepers or the defense or the shooting or the refeering or the lack of AI-variety or the lack of tactically sound setups for the teams.

These things are problems but theoretically fixable, either in a later patch or in PES 2015/2016.

The real problem for those loving PES 5/6 is the loss of magic.

PES 5/6 offered moments of magic, the combination of strong individuality, railed gameplay, shooting, defense, scripting... created moments of magic.

Konami was since then not able to recreate that sort of magic in this gen, which is ever the more difficult to do in the new environment with free passing and reduced use of rails and scripting.

ok ill try to explain what i mean bare with me though english is not my 1st language. the way i see it there 3 type of gamers. one is the casual gamer who plays games just for fun. the other type is the present day "hardcore" gamer who spends many hours playing games which dont necessarily have actual deep gameplay mechanics and are mostly based on achievements and such(like the majority of games these days) and then there is the old school hardcore gamer who mostly play games that are based on pure gameplay. dont get me wrong those games are still for everyone too but they are also kinda special in the way they are build and it takes a special kind of programming to achieve this kind of level of gameplay. what i mean by that is while these games appear simple/normal in reality have many layers in them and the more you devote time the better you become thus these games are the most difficult to play on high level(tournament) play and require skill and knowledge to be succesfull in them. pes despite all its issues is still one of those handfull of games that still exists nowdays and who still keep that old-school japanese gameplay philosophy and i want it to stay that way. i hope you understand what im tryin to say here thanks and merry christmas to all!

sorry or my english

The problem is when it all boils down to it football is a simple game, they have taken it too far off the right track with 2014
The game now even has combo plays like the game is streetfighter or something.
Get the game back to how it used to be, simple but rewarding to play long term, screw trying to be anything at all like that other so called game

i dont think thats the issue here pes was never simple even in the old days it still had deep gameplay. the problem with 2014 is not that is complex the problem is with keepers, shooting, bugs and the lack of variety in goals. the way pes is build wether you are a veteran or a a newcomer you can still have fun with it

Great post and spot on.

Your English is great just try to use paragraphs :D

Pes has come along way and I would loathe a PES6 or 5 in HD.

@grizzuk
I play - well try to play Fifa every other day and can confidently say Konami are not creating any clones.FIFA and Pes are very different games at their core with the varying interpretations about how the beautiful game is reinacted

I prefer Konamis and PES2014 builds on it.

Still find it laughable that people percieve the Last gen iterations as total waste

To each their own I suppose

First you have to agree on the term "simple" and find out if you're talking about the same thing...

Football can be as simple or intricate as you choose to make it.

Since when there is this stupid consensus that PES 2014 needs balance, or tradeoff, between realism and fun? I personally think the more realistic it is, the more fun it provides to people, who understand football. PES 2014 is already much more realistic then PES 6. Unfortunatelly it has also many more technical issues and also falls behind it's competitor as a complete package.

My dream is to see KONAMI make PES for football fans, not for gamers.

One thing that is plainly noticeable over the years is that the AI (generally) has not been improved. Perhaps the coding 'cheat' scripts have, to give the illusion of game variation, but essentially there are still periods of play from the CPU in PES 5/6 that knock spots off the modern day PES.

I mean for Christ sake, how difficult can it be for the programmers to emulate the CPU keeping possession of the ball for more than 30 seconds of Earth time in a modern day football game?

Say what you like about the old PES, but there were periods, legitimate periods, where the CPU outplayed you and kept possession of the ball. The game felt like there were possession momentum shifts without the overbearing feeling of levelling cheat scripts kicking in.

This is not to say that I'm finding 2014 a bad game. I can at least get some enjoyment out of it. But I do think we go one step forward one step back over and over again, when we should, at this stage, be 20 or so steps forward from the old days.

AND PS...

I hope Bhatti's turkey gets overcooked, burnt to a crisp, and his veg comes out all mushy and shit.

Merry Xmas.

Sorry guys but i imagine new European Pes studio like this:

Is it? Exclusively? ... :PIG:

Well it's in the Xbox 360 and PS3 section so I would guess that the thread would be based around the consoles. If someone says that the game is great but is using a patched PC version then personally I would find it a little misleading ;)

So still no news on the new patch for PS3? :(

Agreed and the best advice I can give is to look at something like Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Is it a realistic fighting game? No. What it is is a deeply layered fighting game. The very kind of game that PES used to be owing to the 'old-school japanese gameplay' style that you talk about.

Konami's issue has been managing all of the eggs they've been putting into the basket over the years. They simply haven't done it well and I'm not sure why I'd trust them at this point to move into the next-gen with anything but good intentions, though I'll always remain open-minded. New gameplay aspects have moved PES off-course into some awkward territory which many here (not all!) don't appreciate. It has left the game feeling like a Japanese game that desperately wants to appeal to the West and is unsurprisingly as awkward as any cultural product made in a different culture trying to impress another one. That's not necessarily a bad thing itself but I'd hasten Konami would do a better job if they just made it Japanese-like again because at the end of the day there's something Japanese devs do very well that Western ones don't. Leave Western games to Western developers or simply ship the game out to be made in Europe (I know they have a couple of teams there so maybe that's what they're trying to transition to).

I'll be frank when I say that I'd personally rather a balanced, in-depth, complex football game over a realistic-looking one but as you've already illustrated there's a few types of people out there and not everybody is going to agree on the matter.
