I've wondered this myself. The balls with more colour on them seem smaller and heavier to me. I play with the classic white ball as it seems a bit bigger and lighter... weird I know:CONFUSE:

Will show them with my Wallet in future games if the November patch does nothing for my slowdowns. Only game that's ever done that on PlayStation for me. How they did that, I have no idea. I think I need some coding tips from them. Must be experts.
 
There seems to be 2 ways to get some freekicks vs cpu :
1) Use feints as much as you can. Most relieble way since it is very effective tool to keep the ball and earn space, cpu instantly tackles when you blow by it.
2) Shoot from outside. Even tho you can't score pretty much anything from long range, but you can draw some fouls when cpu try to block your shot and misses.

Just had 5 freekicks (scored 1 of em) with arsenal against man city.
 
loving the game.....to get used to the game I played with Barca in a CL tournament.....amazing stuff....
the knockout is just awesome with the weight of the away goals....beat Man U in the 2nd round....
and had a tremendously close shave with Milan in the semis....before beating Juve 2:0 in the final after such a cagey first half...it was so real...but Messi's brilliance....the way he finishes shots is so real !!

Now started a Europa league with Liverpool to get more of a challenge....in the QFinals...

I get tons of free kicks from the COM. Just shield the ball and they foul you loads, with yellow cards galore!

Playability is about where WE9LE /PES5/6 was at so yep, I believe they remain the most playable with the least number of overall complaints. As I mentioned, editing sucks but there's none of the gameplay nightmares the last 6 years have suffered.
 
Is it just me or are the advanced through balls incredibly hard to master? It's like they get stuck sometimes, even if I just tap L1, they'll go full throttle somewhere.
 
Sincere advice to all offline players: If you want a free flowing, unpredictable and exciting game of football, please delete the patch and play. Great gameplay and great AI. I've tested several times with and without patch to test and I can confirm to you 100% that the game is great without the patch.

Even if you don't like it, not a problem, the patch is only 15mb.

The more I use the right stick, the more fouls I get. The unpredictable your style is, more fouls you get. Quick shift of weight, quick change of pace etc gets you fouls. I get anywhere between 3 to 5 fouls per game in a 15-min game. I have got only one penalty (which was saved!). I need to get better with the use of right stick.
 
Would love to score more from long shots but to be honest it's me who's cut down on the long shoots. The passing game in this version is so good, I always seem to try to walk the ball into the net and that's really thrilling. Now I keep reminding myself that if I get into positions, I should give it a good whack. Keepers are too good with long shots though.

Furthest out that I've managed to score is just a few yards outside the penalty area. Anything beyond that and I think the ball has to go in off the post or crossbar to beat the keeper. Really silly.

Please let me know how you can delete the patch?
If you remove the patch, will the edited kits, etc still work?
I'm using WENB option file with patched kits/teams...
 
I don't know why there is so much down-feeling here. I have a blast playing it on xbox360, version 1.00, zero-bar, everything as manual as possible (except for shooting), and Top-Player (Professional got a bit boring).

Great feeling matches. There are some little problems:

1. When I run through with my striker, he slows down a bit too much when getting in contact with the ball or maybe the defender touching my striker from behind (not what you think, you perv:P) slows him down too much.

2. Sometimes my defense-line makes wrong decisions, like for example three defenders jump out of the way, trying to create an offside-trap, but there are two other players from my team beyond the offside-line.

3. I miss the ability to put out a leg out when I want it that PES 2013 offered. In PES 2014 it happens automatically. Haven't seen anyone mentioning it yet though.

4. Possession-rates still don't seem right, I usually get 60%, seems similar to PES 2013 in that regard.

Despite these little problems, I enjoy the game very much on 25 mins, it feels great, the new animation/physics brings the game to a new level and the ball feels so great and nearly independent.

And whoever said that PES 2014 were too simulation-like, pure nonesense, it's a good mixture of simulation and arcade. In fact I wish it to be a bit more simulation.
 
Dive. trust me on this one. by flawed design it's almost realistic. Your player isn't going to go down unless you instruct him to. if you time it perfectly you will win the free kick.. I have a pretty good success rate now. just like in real life if you think going down during a tussle will win you the free kick, do it.

shots on goal has never been worse. Difficult, almost impossible to score from distense. All of my goals come from 10 feet away. The result is that I play the same way all the time.
PES was known as a game where you can score all types of goals. "Expect the unexpected".
Fundamental things like goalkeepers and shots pull down on the gaming experience.

There is also very little variety in trajectories and shooting animations. Gameplay is best on the midfield , but on the final thirds its lackluster.
 
I was getting a decent handle on this game, then I had a like a 10 day break and got back to it, and the CPU handed my ass to me. I got one measly goal in 3 matches which I lost. And this is on professional.

I used to think that this game was just a matter of getting used to it but I'm beginning to think it really needs some fixes. I have yet to score outside the box, even if the ball falls to me when the keeper goes on a wild goose chase out of his box I can't send it into the empty net from range because the power just isn't there or the player needs an age to adjust for the shot. And the keeper reactions are so out there, they save very well I think, but they just won't get out of the friggin goal! I have had goals where I sent a through ball from my own half, caught up with the defender and nicked the ball, and scored... well inside the box. It was a ball that the keeper would have collected 10 out of 10 times in previous games.

In the XMB, go to 'Game Data Utility' and look for the patch file and delete it. It's the 15mb file.

There's a clear difference in game play with and without patch. Gameplay without patch is much superior.

Some say there is no difference but I believe on version 1.00 the game clearly plays better

For the ones who haven't tried, it takes a few mins to test it out yourselves. It's only a 15mb download anyway.

I see clearly that pre-patch is freer, more exciting and better gameplay. Post-patch it's all a bit stiff and too rigid and boring on the pitch.
 
Hmm, not seeing any differences myself. Version 1.00 and 1.01 on the PS3 both play the same terrific game of football to me. Will have another look.

What did the patch do to the game i cannot remember now,might try it later.Are the instructions for the delete for xbox.
