Yes suuuuupertalk, Pere Ubu description was for Professional. Superstar allows for too much exposed space, easy to exploit. Frankly, superstar is the easiest of the levels if you are paying attention to the open spaces.

I changed to Superstar because it's the only level where I feel that the AI really makes me work for a goal, I had this feeling on the lower levels that the game would just open up and almost let me score from time to time. I don't get that on Superstar so I prefer it. That last 30 minute game though was awesome.

I did have that in the last game I played, I set my own tactics to nullify the through balls but the COM just didn't try them, it prefers to pass it around on 30 minute games. When the COM has its own period of pressure, they really push up. It's a totally different game.

I haven't found Superstar to spam through balls at all, even in lower difficulties to be honest. To me, games feel tighter on that level.
 
Wow, just had a fantastic game as Milan vs Juve (on PC)...

Juve were in much better control most of the game, I had to play on the break. Saw a bit of lovely play from Pirlo - he got the ball at the half way line and in my desperation to get possession I was chasing their midfield like crazy he got past my first player with a cheeky first touch with the outside of his boot but then my ai teammate ran up and he did he patented spin into a ground cross field pass up to the striker.

The game was incredibly fantastic - Juve controlled the midfield but I managed to score twice on the break - one with abate breaking down the flank flashing a pass cross goal that Kaka back heeled to balotelli who scored, another with a long ball that balotelli nodded into space that robinho JUST managed to get to in front of Barzgalli.

Lost 3-2 in the game but I was lucky that no game breaking bugs came up. It was just the whole FLOW of the match was so variable - there were a couple of periods where I was building momentum and at those times Juve tried to play on the break - but otherwise they were very much in a passive mode with lots of short passes, lots of back passes.

When I compare it to FIFA where I see maybe 1 or 2 long balls made by outfield AI players a game and I just played a game against Everton who managed 90% pass success by the end of the game smh

Just that overall match was one of the best I'd seen. IMO konami did an excellent job on those tactics for those teams and it just illustrated to me how incredible the game can be when all the shit works :D

Ok your saying you have already played on top player if that's the case fair enough, for me I'm on ps3 and found more intense midfield battles on top player, my experience on superstar felt bit too open for me.
 
Just started a CL in professional, 30 minutes. First match against Barcelona.
First Half I was loosing 0-2 and dominating possession, too much actually. Barcelona is not playing like real life in this game. I got a draw on second half, due to some errors from CPU, but nothing buggy. So final result, 2-2, 54% possession for me as Benfica. I enjoyed the match alot but like you say, 30 minutes is just too much time. Something etween 15-20 minutes might be perfect.
 
So far, the main difference I've felt between Professional and the difficulty levels above, is that on Pro it feels easier to tackle CPU dribblers than I'd like.

I feel like this is restricting me a lot. Trying to play blind passes to the fullback on the near side, because the camera is zoomed too far across.

Yeah, that's the only thing: you don't get many 0-0 draws. I think I've only had one, ever, playing 30 minutes. I've had a fair few 1-0s though, mostly against weaker teams who sit back and defend, on days when my team are not very Hearty and lack a bit of incisiveness. Had a great, grinding, morass-of-rubbish game the other day where neither team could do anything, which I won with a 65th minute penalty (which I dived for, with Joaquin). Beautiful. Even a simulation of the kind of game you'd switch off if it was on telly is fantastic fun.

Then again, how many 0-0 draws do you get in the modern game? A few in France, but not many in England, Spain or Germany, or even Italy these days.

This Heart business is crucial, I think. My lot look a completely different team when they're orangey. With a bunch of cold greenies out there, it's a real struggle. Only thing is, I'm not sure it's been coded quite right: Heart levels clearly change during a game, but that's not represented on the game plan screen, where they stay the same. And from game to game they don't seem to change properly, or very often. I have four or five players who're always up for it, and the others go through long phases of cold-heartedness, even after winning games.

I've got a 19 year old sub striker who I had to put in against Milan, because my other strikers were injured or on purple arrows - and he scored two goals to win us the game. Next match: blue form arrow and cold heart. WTF??

I'm winning loads if free kicks, the COM loves to dive in when you show the ball then turn away from them just as the tackle comes in.

I've found that form arrows don't make much difference at all, but yeah, the heart thing transforms your team into a juggernaut. I think it's a bit too overpowered, if I'm honest. I'd hope that they can tweak it down a bit in a patch or something.

It's odd. I play 10 minute matches on Superstar and frequently lose. I then play on 30 min games, and I've won every one. Sometimes it's a close game, sometimes I absolutely crush the other side, mainly I think because my players have a lot of heart.

I decided to drop the time down to 20 minute matches, and they still play fantastically well compared to 10 minute games, but again, I'm able to waltz through their defence too easily, especially for Superstar. I just beat Napoli with Milan 5-1, scored my best ever goal on PES but then the other four goals were decidedly ropey. Keepers diving out the way of the ball, defenders just standing by as I right-stick my way past them with ease. That doesn't happen on ten minute matches, but then again I don't get the realistic midfield battles I get on 20 minute games.

Why on earth would longer matches become more 'sim' like but also too easy? Hopefully this won't be the case in, say, ML.

I cant select the player to track the runner because the RS for selecting players is awful, always selects the wrong player this year or switches to the right player then suddenly to a different player. Offside doesnt work much either because there is always one defender who is too slow to react to the command, so he plays him onside

They arent sudden runs, people online (the higher ranked players but its filtering down to the rest now) pick the ball up in their own half do a triggered run and wait until that player is around 5 yards away from the defence before launching an accurate 50 yard lofted through ball, his player runs onto it while your defence just stand there still facing the opponents goal.

Its ridiculous and something you see once in a blue moon in real football. But on pes online it happens every single match

I just lost the 2nd leg of Copa del Rey semi-final to Barcelona 1-0 but won 3-2 on aggregate and it shows the Barcelona players celebrating the win at the final whistle. Also I haven't noticed players picking the ball out of the net for consolation goals, they just run to the corner flag as though they have just scored the winner?

Cant believe after like 6-7 years of PES that Lee Cattermole's name is STILL wrong, lol, I know its something minimal but it's laughable it hasnt been picked up before....

proof of Konami's incompetence at times.
 
MLO is nice this year, will take a while to get anyone of note. Even my man Arevalo is currently outside the budget!
 
I have the feeling that ps3 slowdowns are more apparent in manual shooting.
I played manual till yesterday and today I went for basic shooting and noticed for the first time strong slowdowns
 
On top player, Norwich totally bossed Chelsea (me) in three consecutive exhibition matches. One won by me. Two lost. The AI can be unforgiving!
 
they don't. If they did, they would have never released it in current state.

Plus they didn't listen to text feedback for 4 years now.

Video proof is the only way to go imo :).

Adam might be lacking in his voice which bothers me, but post them to Hosoda as well and we might get attention people ;).
 
I'm persisting with 20 minute matches, it's really a different game altogether. Brilliant. But I just don't get how inconsistent it is, one match I win 8-1, the next I scrape a 2-1 win, then I hammer a good team 5-1, with both big wins feeling like I just had to walk through their team to score, yet the next game I lose 2-0 and thoroughly get my arse handed to me.

It's piss easy one minute, crazy hard the next. It must be he heart feature giving a massive advantage over the other team.
 
Look at this little piece of magic. Lima is 8 feet offsides, receives the through ball and scores. No flag up.

The defenders in the picture are the last two. I like that we see some variations in when offsides is called. I've seen close calls go to both attack and defense, but this is insanity. Look how far forward he is as the ball is being played to him.

I think the game triggers diferent mentalities through the matches. Like at 70 minutes mark, the loosing team might change to "all out attack" to win a goal. Lets say that between 20-40 minutes the CPU only keeps possession. If you play 10 min. matches, that will be a small window of midfield battle, but in 30 min. matches, it will be more noticible because it lasts more in real time.

I love when CPU starts to miss passes and looks confused for some time, then they get back to their normal football. This PES is something special, never seen before.
 
LTFC, to be fair, what modes do you play?
Try Competition -> League -> Accumulated fatigue ON.

Now this was my choice after all Competition modes (AFC/UCL/EL/Copa) and it seems most balanced.

The fluctuation of FORM is much less visible than in Football Life and such, it poses as good insight in what gameplay problems might be there.

So far, only GKs and player awareness bother me.

The games are rewarding, not easy to stroll the park ;).

I am playing on Professional difficulty, 0 speed, PESEdit 1.0 patch, MyPES14 1.2 patch with updated Fileloader files to 1.0.1.0 version.

A good balance for me ;). With klashman69 tactics applied it's even better :D. Try it!

Actually offside rule doesn´t apply before the midfield line, only if your attacker is in the opponents half, wich is not the case.
