Playing WE can't compare but it's the same shit slowdown in matches on ps3. Dont bother maybe until November patch. Or if your interested in just playing free training till then.

Strange, the gameplay on my PS3 version is the same in free training as it is in a regular match. In both scenarios I have no slowdown, no stuttering, no framerate issues, the same animations...

I think it's just a throwback to older days where the Japanese got a later 'updated' version that had gameplay improvements. These days I think they're all the same version.

I have got the Xbox 360 PAL UK PES 2014 game and the NTSC/J Winning Eleven 2014 game. But even when I use the Winning Eleven game, the menus say PES2014. The gameplay feels the same to me. Has KONAMI got rid of the Winning Eleven branding? I'm totally confused. As far as I am concerned, the data on these two discs is identical, except for the fact that the Winning Eleven one only has English commentary and two text language options: English and Japanese (presumably).

Can somebody else who also has Winning Eleven confirm that the main menu actually says PES 2014?

Thanks.

I have both games. PES 2014 downloaded from UK PSN. WE 2014 in disc format. I've played both. I can tell you WE 2014 is better and superior. Now I won't go back to PES 2014. The difference is subtle but will be very noticeable by the connoisseurs and will make a big difference for them.

You do the same every year, come on these forums saying you're game is always better, seem to remember you did the same on the FIFA forums

There's no evidence to back it and there's no way to disproved it either. I think stuff like this happen to every game. Beside of regional and legal thingy, i can't think why the game should play differently.

I think I´m def gonna stay with professional level. I´ve been trying for days several settings and, tbh I enjoy the AI pressing in Superstar, but after a while it´s not realistic. Also the AI turns too much atacking, desperate for goals. There´s no tactic variation from CPU.

Top Player is a bit better but playing in Professional with manual passing is reflecting pretty much the real thing. After match stats stay realistic, possession, fouls, shots etc. The gameplay has also variations along the match, sometimes slow, sometimes fast. And its actually harder to get a goal chance (at least for me), because the CPU has a more defensive mentality and great positioning.

I don´t like one thing though. CPU attackers don´t seem to bee very smart. Sometimes they are in lots of space behind defensive line, but instead of making a clear run and score, they prefer to slow down and wait for team mates. Wich brings the so called catch up bug. To be honest, I think it shoul be there, it plays somehow a tactical element in the game, but should be toned down a bit. I mean, even Ronaldo looses some ground to defenders when in space, it´s normal to my eyes. In real life, sometimes fast players are smarter and take advantage of some defensive distraction, ad they win lots of space for a few seconds, but that happens in PES too, ad I see it as totally normal thing.

Maybe they had more time to tweak. Don't know.

One thing for sure though is back on PS2 WE always played a better game even though it was released 2 months earlier in August. Then another one released around March the following year which was even better and more of an insight on how the next version would look/play like.

Ah......!! The day's when we had two versions of PES per year, great times.... :)

I agree 100% PES and WE always had subtle gameplay differences

This game continues to amaze me I decided for the first time to do 15 min games in a master league and boy does it play a lot better, pace is much better and individuality stands out more. I can seriously play this game all year once the patch comes out to fix the small irritating bugs. :-)

Is it also a 'Player Style' thing? I had this once with Ron Vlaar, who I believe has the 'Extra Frontman' trait by default. I wouldn't be surprised if Pique has it too.

Yes, its a player styles thing also. But this primarily affects the way the center back will offer support to the attack but it depend again on the attack/defence level in how aggressively he moves forward.

Just tried a 30 minute match out of curiosity, I'm not convinced. On Superstar I won the game 8-1. There are clear changes in pace of the game which is fantastic, and it all feels more considered and slower, but, man, the AI was so easy. Nine goals in one game suggests to me that the game isn't equipped to replicate a match that long.

Try the same settings but on professional, manual passing. Go for a Champions League cup or something like that. Friendlies are easier indeed.

I´m going to try that right now.

Yes I come to the forums every year and say WE is better than PES. What did I do in the FIFA forums? Don't understand what you're trying to say. My only FIFAs were FIFA 08 and 09. I was a gameplay/tactics editor for FIFA 09.

Top player on WE is brilliant. I'm playing unpatched version without data packs or option files. 1-bar passing on 0 game speed on default camera. Opponent AI torments me. Haven't seen a unresponsive defender/goalie bug in about 10-15 games. The game is pure joy to play. I'm guessing I won't be sleeping tonight.

Does your WE main menu display the words 'Winning Eleven', or 'PES'?

Haven't yet seen a problem with my goalkeeper, seems pretty solid all-around.

The only major problem I see right now is that the team's generic tactical setups are criminally wrong, with too many teams having a too high defenseline.

Konami should really invest in two or three football-knowing people that take the time to setup the teams somewhat sensible and realistic. They don't have to be accurate or a 100% up to date, they just need to somewhat resemble the teams they represent. This would inject a welcome variation and replayability in singleplayer.

The other thing I wished for is that the playermodels would be a tad bit more flexible and reactive.

The last thing is the camera-option: There is the possibility to change zoom ... but it's imho way too limited, I can't go nearly far enough out with the zoom.

I totally agree with Blue Champ.

WE 14, jap, is a much more solid, refined, achieved version of the game, again. Normally was alwasy like this, but 12 and 13 iterations did not feel better han our version. Now it does, and by a long mile. I have XBOX, but have ahd ps3, my mates have ps3, and they all ordered WE 14 from play ASia after experimenting demo. It´s even better than xbox version. Much more "complete" gameplay in every sense.

Very strange because I tried it on a friends place. Only on +2 does it look remotely similar to free training.

Do u have any modified option files installed ?

No videos on wanting to see slowdowns??

You can post it as well. But he need it quick, before tomorrow evening if possible. Trying to cram everything on the next patch i think.

Sometime the devs can be stubborn for many reasons, mostly because of different priority and time. People might think thing like catch-up as a bug, but for them that's not an issue or non-existent unless you have a video to prove otherwise. So i urge people to link Adam to video footage.

Funny though for all the complaints that ongoing on WENB, that thread haven't had a single reply yet.

Nope, no option files.

Just tried another 30 minute match and I see where Pere was coming from. I won it 2-1 this time, as PSG V Valenciennes. The pace of the game was superb, both teams had periods of pressure, there was a lull where nothing much was going on at all, and the end of the game got a bit more open and I started having more space up front. Subs were suddenly a factor and the heart thing really has a relevance. Was the game designed to be played on this time setting? It doesn't play anything like it does on 10 minute matches. It's far more realistic.

I'm a bit concerned about the match being so long as I don't know if you'll ever get 0-0 draws, but stuff like the constant through balls, even on Superstar, seems completely removed especially when I apply my own tactics to compress the play but keep defensive lines at the right levels.

So I dunno, that match was fantastic. I might drop the time of matches a bit, I don't know if I have the patience to play games this long (a 30 minute match actually took over 40 minutes) but as Pere says, it's like a different game altogether. Not sure what happened with the 8-1 win but this last game was top drawer.

This patch is going to be very big, I'm not hyping even, it's clear they are putting a gigantic amount of effort into it.

Yeah 30 minutes sounds abit too much for me, have you tried a 15 min on top player, cause that's what iv been doing and have been having some really great games and also klashman stated awhile ago that superstar is broken.
