Yep, from the main screen whee you can choose all game modes etc I choose options in the bottom left of the screen, then scroll down to System Settings, then Language Settings. The only options I get are to change in-game text only from English to Swedish :(

The reason i am pants is because i am playing on full manual everything, i keep reading that once you master full manual the game is better. I can pass fine in defence and midfield but when i'm attacking i mess up with the crucial pass. And shooting, don't even get me talking about my shooting. I keep hitting it to the left of the goal, one on one... left of the goal.

How long did it take you guys to master it on this and the other games? I really want to persevere with full manual everything because when i did score a couple of goals it was a fantastic feeling :APPLAUD:

I am really impressed with the AI opponents as well. They really take me by surprise with their attacking play. Sometimes whipping in balls from the half way line, or playing it across the penalty area, or playing those annoying through balls.

After just 3 games this is so far the best PES at the moment for me. I have been reading a lot of negative things on this thread but i have to agree with this quote earlier from BlueChampion.



Yes if you read the old threads on PES5 there is so much criticism and yet it is a classic game. I never used to read these threads before (i had never even heard of evo-web until a few years ago). And sometimes bad points are brought out that some of us may not have noticed before we read about them. So then we look out for them in the game. Which can cloud our view of it.

Anyway back to PES2014, can somebody please let me know how to install it on the PS3 HDD? It does lag slightly for me (but don't tell anyone :P)

PS Oh and commentating lasted just 2 games, got fed up with the reminders of how pants i am at shooting :P

Could anybody with xbox version kindly check this?
This should be tweeted to Adam if it is still the case.

I've been waiting for years to get the other commentary languages back to Pes and now really happy they have arrived to PS3 but I hope all Pes players would have option to this.

I just headed the ball into the ground (with square and then triangle) and over the keeper and in! It looked awesome!

Also, Go Ahead Eagles is a real, Dutch football team. What the hell.

I wasn't aware there were 2 through ball buttons, can you explain how this works?

A couple posts back you were mentioning a L1 body swerve, can you also describe what happens during that dribble? I'm not sure if I understand how L1 affects dribbling.

Overall I'm happy with the advance through ball this year, but there's one part I find counter intuitive. It feels like that power is not taken into account (or have as much effect as) how long you hold your direction for. I have been playing with the target guide turned on, and there are situations when I'm dribbling and taken a touch to push the ball ahead of me, and during the window before I touch the ball again, if I just give through ball power a little tap giving it very little power, I end up holding my L stick for too long (?), and the target thingy travels way beyond the player I want to pass to. Then despite that it's only a little tap of power, it travels pass the player like bullet. This is a little counter-intuitive, as the target guide input seems to override the power input.

Yep, I'm Xbox. I'd be interested to know too. I reckon xbox doesn't have the commentary.

High Through Ball is a two button action change cursor and through ball.

L1 swerve seems to work when dribbling at speed.

Is it just me who can't play day games, because of the bloody shadows? Even in winter most of the pitch is so bright it looks like a nuclear bomb has just gone off (so much so that it actually hurts my eyes when the camera pans and everything blurs) - then suddenly you go into the shadow and it's like falling down a mine shaft. Can't see a bloody thing. And almost every stadium has one of those shadows...

Also, both my super-laggy games happened in daylight, including one where I was playing away in Juventus' stadium and throughout the match I was expecting a little box to pop up saying "You have been disconnected because the quality of the connection has significantly worsened." Seriously, this game would have been over before half time if it had been online. Not good at all, and I don't see how they're going to be able to fix it, except by dropping the quality of the graphics.

I tried to install it to the HDD, it came up and said "Installing", both lines moved up to 100% and then it just hung. I had to quit the game, and it certainly doesn't look as if anything was installed.

Enjoying the game generally, for all the reasons everyone else has stated, but my God there are some serious irritations. The very first goal I scored was a farce: shot bounced back off the post, and the cpu defence ran in two different directions away from the ball. My player ran onto it, I thought "no, I won't score this shit goal" and tried to stop him, but I couldn't - his momentum carried him into the ball, and the goalie just stood there watching him go by as he auto-walked it into the net with me jamming the stick in the opposite direction. Classic stuff. Oh, and did I mention that time slowed down while all this was happening? It was like coming up on really strong acid, but in a very very bad way.

I also completed a 25 minute game playing against Inter, who at the final whistle had committed 0 fouls. Except of course they had, they'd committed bloody millions (including one where someone went through the back of my player and quite literally kicked him up in the air), but the referee didn't seem to think so.

Finally after a whole year online of having 60+% possession every match yet losing to through balls. I finally feel empowered. Every match ive dominated ive won. Thru ball whores crying everywhere. Im soo happy right now

there are so many good fouls in the game that don't get called. it would make the gameplay so much more interesting and complex.

i know there are plenty of issues with the game, but i really just need two to be fixed right quick and then i can wait for the rest later: 1. call more fouls and 2. defenders should not chase running forwards beyond the offside trap. its absurd for your fullback to chase a forward 15 feet beond the trap thus negating the tactic. i would hazard that roughly half of all through-ball goals come from this gameplay error. at the very least it should be stat-relevant (perhaps defenders with poor defensive awareness blow the trap more often or something. i sense that might be there already but it is out of wack.

i just love dribbling with the two sticks. my favorite player to work right now is carrick. dribbling with the two sticks to get him on the right foot for the long pass is so exquisite.

i've to say that i'm not feeling the love for advanced through ball. seeing that reticule pop up ruins the simulation for me. i would have prefered no reticule but the ability to spin the ball with the stick to the degree based on player stats.

Couldn't agree more with these two points, especially the first. Can't help but feel that Konami (just like EA) does not want to scare away the casual gamer by having the flow of play interrupted by fouls - the kids just want to race up and down the pitch without the bother.
The lack of fouls not only hurts the realism of the game but also pretty much eliminates one of the key elements of all football matches - set pieces and free kicks. A player like Pirlo has his worth cut in half when he never gets to stand over a dead ball! Please sort this Konami -

Jimmy, i noticed that on this video and on the drogba one, that after you do the tricks and pass the rivals players, the last line of defence never close into the player with the ball, and it seem that it's to easy to score by having a good amount of time when you enter on the box. Or maybe it's the replay time effect.

What difficulty are you playing?

Shooting response is horrific. Hardly do any first touch finish or header. Tackle response is slow by half a second. I don't know why but to me this game is unfinished

Finally, got the game. Updated to 1.01 straightaway. Downloaded the data pack. As soon as it hit 100%, my PS3 shut down (happened twice). The data pack is fully downloaded and I can see that in the fan utility folder. But can someone help how I can apply it? The game still shows that a data pack is available for download. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Play copa libertadores and you'll see flares and fireworks on intros. Unfortunately all that smoke suddenly goes away when gameplay comes in.

I thought so too but I guess not. In my defence though... what kind of a name is that for a Dutch football team. Or for any football team for that matter.

It's no bother mate, this stuff has been a bit of a hassle here in Iceland for a while, I'm sure it will take no time the next time I buy one, now that they have confirmed my details.

In other news, PES 2014 started, finished playing Nessun Dorma and then black screened me. Hopefully a one time thing only.
 
This game needs next gen consoles. It's another case of "next year" for pes. As it's been every year for last 8 years.
Current gen has been lost on Konami.

Had a few more games and some of it is brilliant.
But some of it is a hard slog:
Curser changes
Response
Menus, changing players and formations - basically everything you do off the pitch is slow and tedious.

I think my PS3 just broke or something. PES 2014 starts, the "establishing communications" loading screen comes on, then goes away, the song finishes, and then it's over. Just a black screen. I can quit out of the game by normal means, but this is the 3rd time in a row now. Guess I'll have to test some other games.
