Definitely buying PES 2014 this year.

EA Sports suck your Canadian NHL players dicks! Big fat liars with same old story: PC users don't have PCs powerful enough to run our Ignite engine.

Let me say this: HA HA HA HA HA! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Made my day EA! And you made decision of what game to buy so much easier for PC users... Thank you! KONAMI will be glad. ;)

I also have both ISS64 and ISS98 and, well... You can't imagine how much time I spent on those games when I was a younger (more or less 12-16 years old). Especially ISS64 was my favourite one (to the extent that when I registered here I chose Kleimann as my first username).

And I agree: 360° movement was far from being achieved back then, but it's with N64 that I got used to the analoghe stick and I couldn't imagine playing without it at the moment.
Even with older PES titles which didn't have 360° movement (as I already said, I'm a diehard PES6 fan), I only play with the analogue stick and it's thanks to the N64 controller (which, by the way, was one of the less comfortable pads I've ever had) :D

When ISS came out on N64 i thought it was the single best game ever made. Graphics, gameplay & the first time i ever saw a scenario mode. I loved it!

the first time i ever saw a scenario mode. I loved it!
They definitely should bring scenarios back... Maybe the way they did at EA: a new scenario available online every week, maybe based on upcoming or just played real matches... Would be a lot of fun! :)

Speaking of that, there could be a hint towards a scenerio mode on the E3 trailer. I can't find a good reason for that "second attempt rewind" on the end other than that.

I was saying that to a friend earlier.

It would also be great to create your own scenario and people could share them.

Don't say the "those who don't play with analogs, doesn't know how to play" thing.
What wrong with crosspad guys? Is a kind of control too, and if you "can't" reach de 8 directions, this not make it more difficult?

I play sacredly every with 5 mates a league tournament and everyone use crosspad.
Analog is too damn slow to control and slipery. Hope that they include the CHOICE.

Analogs is for 3D platformers and FPS games.

Its just my opinion. And i think i represent a lot of players, and i'm not any kind of cheater, i really like to play PES and make great plays and goals, i always looking to play different and use all the pitch.
We just are the other ones :P

played with crossbad till pes 2009(2008 was an instant skip), there was no 360 degree in the ps2,psx era so there was no point using the analog stick, still confusing playing pes 6 with analog

Fgs stop bringing up EA and Fifa in a troll-ish manner. You want to post Fifa related stuff you have the Fifa thread. And it better be reasonable. No trolling.

It's not trolling when it's the truth. Message understood though.

My mistake, thought you were the poster 2 weeks ago or so back who kept slagging pes of and raving about fifa. Appoligies

No problem; if anything, I'm doing the opposite. Primarily because I'm annoyed at EA not releasing the Ignite Engine on the PC but also because Fifa 14 'CG' doesn't seem to be sufficiently improved to warrant another outlay.

PES 14 on the other hand... I'm already blown away; can't wait to hear some Master League news.

Doctor76 what happened to you loving FIFA?

I definitely remember you from EA forums. I remember FIFA 10 (PC) thread, when Ian announced "revolutionary" changes. I stated that those are all lies and will not believe one word EA speaks.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Fifa - Fifa 13, that is. As I always say, a game has to show significant improvement to warrant me shelling out again, and from what I've seen so far, Fifa 14 isn't showing enough. That's definitely the case on the pitch; and we all know the graphics on Fifa PC won't change now for a good few years. The situation is not helped by EA not releasing Ignite on the PC.

PES 14 on the other hand looks like a cracking game so far. I'm going by what I've seen from either game and so far, PES 14 comes out ahead. The rest will most likely depend on what Konami do with Master League (for me it lags far behind Fifa's Career Mode) and of course the demos; I always try both games' demos, but I'm fairly sure PES 14 will be the one this year.

We've also got to take into account the fact that next year is World Cup 2014 in Brazil. EA will either roll out a DLC or a separate game, that we'll have to pay for. PES? There'll be an amazing fan made World Cup mod and it won't cost a penny.

PES has always had so much more soul than Fifa, especially this generation. I love the way PES lets you think you've scored, and then sticks the flag up; in Fifa, you know you haven't scored, the players know, the fans know - soulless. When you score an important goal in PES, you get a proper celebration that means something. In Fifa, it could be any other goal; the commentator points out the importance, but that's not shared by the players. If a player gets injured in PES, he gets stretchered off; if he's badly injured, he'll lie down. In Fifa, no matter how bad the injury, the poor sod always has to walk off the pitch.

Then there's the BaL mode - which has always been so far superior to Fifa's equivalent. As I said, I love Fifa 13, but I also said that I would not be impressed if the game looks exactly the same for a third year running; that's clearly the case - whereas PES 14 has of course got the shiny new Fox engine (even on PC, EA).

Hope that clears it up - I know it looks like a real 360 from me, but as explained, I have my reasons. ;) You said you remembered me from the old forums; you must remember how much I slated Fifa back then as well. ;)

Fifa 10's revolutionary features... ahahahahaha. Fifa 09 PC - Fifa 10 PC is the single best example of 'recycled game' I can think of.

I think they just wanted to show a couple of outcomes from offensive play. Like, first, let's see a pass and Robben scored. But also, Ribery can make a little trickery and score himself. I don't think it means anything. And personally I think Scenario mode should be in 200th place when it comes to things that need to be added in PES.

Yeah I agree with that, Ive been disappointed with fifa for the past two games. Doesn't feel like there improving the game much and lying about certain features. The only reason I have ended up buying fifa over Pes is that Pes in the past titles still had old issues that were not fixed.

The new Fifa apart from maybe the clothes look and move realistic and the turf looks better, it doesn't look much different to the current gen consoles.

EA have become lazy and Pes looks really promising so far. Just want a game that is realistic to play, with a perfect balance, hate the obsession of speed in football games. Want to be able to knock the ball around and create a chance. Not sprint through a defence with a quick play and score.

Still, I wouldn't exactly tell them "no, take it out" if it was in

I wouldn't mind a Scenario mode, but like yourself I think it should be low on the list of priorities. I'd also love to see a return of 'International Challenge', or whatever it was called - last seen back in PES 6. It supplied you with the entire World Cup, complete with qualifiers. :)

I'm really excited about the new game! The change is non-negligible, if you told me it wasn't PES I'd believe you. So I can't understand how people can say it looks the same.
Anyways, I spent the whole year, not that much really due to exams, playing Fifa (Mainly UT) but recently I returned to PES (seemed like a good alternative to studying ) - Mainly because of Pesedit's patch. I don't know how many of you have played/play both games but the main difference I found was the satisfaction of scoring or even developing a play - The simplicity of scoring in Fifa (Hold R2, shoot and 9/10 it's a goal) leaves me with no satisfaction, emotion or pleasure. Whereas in PES, (this may be because I suck having played Fifa all year and because I play superstar difficulty) I find it difficult to score and as a result when I do score I am left with great satisfaction and emotion. I think that the feel of PES, the true emotion, is simply unsurpassable!

Been requesting this a while now, simply loved it. It was so realistic, calling up players etc. Don't understand why the hell it was removed. I remember the 'good old days' (I'm 17 :D) playing this with my cousin, in particular calling up Mascara onto the Italian squad! :FAIL:
Now, an Economics exams awaits me. :COAT:

Areas of Improvement

I mentioned a few slight improvements that could be made in other sections, with this particular one kept for the defensive AI and player awareness. It’s not something I noticed until the second day of playing PES 2014, but since then it was very much apparent. It had a slight negative impact on some matches, whereas in others it was completely affecting the result of matches, especially when playing against other human players. I noticed several occasions where one player would have the ball in a defensive and one or two players near him would just stand there doing nothing, even when the ball carrier came near them. There was no forward or sideways movement that would’ve made it easier for you to get out. In real life football this is what happens, if one player has the ball in the defensive area then others will move around accordingly, giving him options to move out and get the ball forward. This rarely happened in the E3 build of PES 2014.

To add to this frustration, these non-moving players would get in the way on several occasions, resulting in the ball being gifted to the opposition for a goal. There were several occasions where I benefited from this and the goal I scored as a result felt cheap. I was on the other end of it too, which was really frustrating. This also happened occasionally when defending corners, with cheap goals being scored on the back of the lack of defensive awareness. It’s a frustrating negative as the rest of the game is so good, really enjoyable. As you’d expect this was fed back to Konami and I was assured that in future builds this would be addressed. I would imagine it’s a case of the development team heightening the responsiveness of the defensive AI and other players on the pitch that are not being controlled. A new build should be available to play just before Gamescom, so I’m hoping to report with back positive things in relation to this after getting hands on with that.

That's what i called constructive and fundamental feedbacks. The nets, the distance between linesman and touchline, the referee animation, the boots all of those can wait.

Now we are talking. One of my favorite modes in PES. Bring it back, with an option to actually see fatigue levels of players you are picking for the team, and we're in business.

And great thing about pes 6 International challenge,is that you can, call any player from (example Serbia) which is in game,so you can make your own national team squad for favorite coutry :)

Good read that. Like you said, balanced. Funny enough, that site has improved a lot since Adam left. For example, I could never get through a paragraph of the verbose and biased drivel on the front page that he and that other pretentious shill used to write without feeling sullied. Asim and his cohorts seem like fair and decent lads.

Pretty much this. That's why I stopped playing 1v1 on FIFA because its boring and people just use exploits and never play proper football as the game doesn't award you with playing good football and instead rewards the team wit better stats and the skill moves u do and the defensive ai

Looks like free kicks have to be fixed (urgently). Otherwise, online will be totally unplayable. Can You imagine losing a goal from corner kick once or twice per game?

I don't like the idea of a damned dotted line anyway, for realism sake it shpuldnt be there.. the ability to whip a ball and score from corners should be there, since it happens. But not because you've pre-learned how to do it and are literally aligning it for the sake of doing it repeatedly, it should be a skill + luck thing. If the player taking the corner has the curve stay to bend the ball out and then back into the goal then yes, but he should have to have the luck of a keeper misjugding the curve and dip for it. To actually go in.

Good. I was called "Mr. Negativity" for spotting the lack of positional awareness.

I'll leave another impression:
Analyze the way the defensive lines cope with offensive runs. The runs constantly mess the relation between the defensive line and the DMF's: it's always the wrong defender the one who follows the attacker, leading to an innecesary cycle of covering gaps that may look dynamic, but is tactically wrong at so many levels. It's been happening in the latest PES's, and I'm starting to think it's the programmers way to cope with something they can't recreate.
And yes, I do know how to defend as close to real life as possible, and it works ingame, but it doesn't take away the fact I've just mentioned.

The curve is a visual help because of the new freekick system where you control the ball's contact point. Something should be there, or at least it should be a major part of the training mode.

Like i mentioned before, it makes sense that the curve/dotted line is there simply because when you take a free kick or corner you have an idea of where you're gonna place the ball and how you want it to curve. In the previous PES games with no dotted line, it was almost impossible to predict %100 of the time where your FK/Corner would go. Players in real life actually aim for where they're kicking, and not just decide to kick the ball in a general area.
