PES 2014 Discussion Thread

After much deliberation, it seems the EA forum mods have moved the PES13/14 discussion to the offtopic region. The same offtopic region where people speak about their fetishes, and their favourite food. It's laughable. That thread was gaining so much heat and positivity that it was the only logical thing to do. I think I'm done w/ that forum now.

You do realize that goes both ways, right? Pretty much everyone who's more regular on this thread than on FIFA's gets shoot down by saying anything at all on the FIFA thread that's not so positive as usual.

Haven't got the feintest clue because i scarcely ever go to the FIFA thread and to be honest i wonder why people who are so sure that PES is the better game would bother to visit the FIFA thread unless it is to provoke....

Either you try to enjoy both games (like i try and every year i end up playing one game for 90% of the time, and since PES 2011 it has Always been FIFA) or you just stick with the one you love and then honestly i don't see any reason to visit the thread of the other game...

To be completely honest with you i don't understand why you should reply like you did...that is clearly proof that you are extremely biased and thus better should not visit the FIFA thread. It's strange that FIFA fans coming in this thread are seen as WUM's but if a PES fan visits the other thread, he is a reasonable games specialist...that isn't logic...that also works both ways.

Why am i posting this ? Well because i would like this to be a thread purely about PES without having to read nonsense discussion by overly biased fans, those discussions are useless...they are pure spam. That is why i propose to the mods to open a FIFA-PES thread and then there is no need to mention the other game in the specific threads.

I'm replying to anderson, but i don't mean no disrespect to him...he's a good poster albeit very biased, but most people are (so am i...i want PES to be the better game).

to be honest i agree with gerd
i almost never post in fifa topic because i couldn't care less about Fifa
this is my favourite game topic, i see no reason to post there.

I'm biased towards PES, but there's a difference between clear trolling and criticizing the obvious.

I actually play both games (I play nearly all sports games) and post what I post because of the things that piss me off when I play FIFA (and also the things that piss me off in EA in general), which recently has happened more than usual because the majority of my friends play FIFA, and also because I got frustrated with PES2013 back in December, much like I got frustrated with the previous games a bit later than that.

People don't see me criticize PES because there's more than enough people stating the obvious the entire year, while I only come back hopeful and hyped up when the first info about the new game start to show up. Still, you haven't seen me claim that the king is back on this thread, not at least for 4/5 years now.

I also rarely post on FIFA forums and kinda agree with you that if one of the games gives you everything you look for a football then you shouldn't antagonize the people on the other thread, the problem is that hasn't happened for a few years now.

So while I'm happy PES looks to be back on the right track, I was actually looking forward to the new FIFA Engine, up until the point when I realized that the same things that pissed me off this gen are still there.

Even more pissed off when people used EA's claims of "fixing footplanting in football games" to back-up their statement when the replay videos showed otherwise :COAT:

Anyway, enough off-topic.

I think it was an order from higher-ups. Literally everybody there are buzzing about PES 2014. And combine with the lacklustre E3 presentation on from EA's behalf.

the only thing that really interests me: date "demo"
PLEASE
discussions can leave it for another time

FiFa offers a product, PES something different.
choose and enjoy:WORSHIP:

Yep - and don't mention PES in any thread other than the thread EA have designated for it, otherwise they'll slap you with an infraction. EA are clearly very worried about PES this year; as well they should be!

Without a shadow of doubt.

One question guys.

Manual passing will mean no stat-influence?

In case yes, it's bad.

It would mean, that if you master manual passing, you will be able to perform like xavi with the worst default ML players!?

I would expect some kind of stat influence in the strength and aiming.

Can somebody clarify it.

I cannot ask over at WENB. I'm banned, you know :)

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that even when passing is set to manual, the player you're using does come into it. So yes, you have control over the pass, but the worse the player at passing, the more error there is likely to be.

After all, consider this: when playing a pass in real life, you'd consider that to be 'manual' passing, no? And yet, does the ball go exactly where you aimed it? Of course not, otherwise the world would be full of Xavi and Scholes.

A little over a month....

So, I just got infracted for posting the following in the EA forum: "A certain discussion where we discussed the unmentionable game has been moved to the Off topic section for obvious reasons.. By obvious, I mean the fact that it has been gaining quite a lot of steam recently.."

Great stuff really. At least I got the desired effect. The PES discussion has been moved back to where it belongs.. :P

I think i read somewhere that there will be no PC demo this year because of the mods, is it true?
Mods are what make the game as good as it can be. In fact, mods are done on PC and then placed on console. The very reason you can play with the correct teams and names is b/c of the mods, so I would say this is 100% incorrect.

Ohhhhh... so we can't even make veiled comments about 'The Game That Must Not Be Mentioned' (mainly because it's going to kick Fifa's arse)...

That would be an extremely bad move by Konami, and I'm pretty sure they know it.

Incidentally, it's nice to be able to type words like 'arse' without them being censored. Unlike a certain other forum. ;)

Anyway, what I really wanted to know is when are we likely to get some solid ML news? That will be the mode I play most, and right now for me it's lagging behind Fifa's CM. Mainly because of the lack of leagues, but also things like youth academies, the way the transfer market works, the hiring/firing of managers and so on. Note that my information is based on the last PES I played extensively (PES 2008), so some of that stuff may already have been improved.

The pc demo was a bit of a joke last year in that within a few days you could play with 200 teams and fifty stadia.

I was weighing-up whether it was worth buying the game at all!

Really? I had no idea. I can see why that might put Konami off a PC demo, but then if you don't buy the game you don't get things like the Master League do you? Perhaps the modders might want to rein it in a bit.

I really don't think Konami will treat PC gamers that way. I still see them doing what they have always done. At the end of the day, the success of their game is greatly down to modders and the gameplay innovations/"licences" they can bring. I can understand why they would possibly forego a PC demo, but it would just end up shooting them in the foot. After all, FIFA's monopoly on licences is a real deciding factor.

I doubt the same will happen this year, for 2 reasons: New filesystem; many of the modders were actually asked by Konami to tone it down a bit. People were unlocking entire modes.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek with the last remark. Obviously the demo restricts the player to friendlies and nothing else.

This year it may not be so easy as PES is running on a new engine with potentially different architecture. With the PES 2013 demo it was easy for modders to drag across content from PES 2012 and other user-made stuff like stadia.

I'm watching the Mexico v Italy match right now (great game by the way) and the early evening lighting in PES 14 is almost exactly like what was on my screen a while back - the sun's gone down completely now.

I'm expecting dynamic lighting in PES 14 - those floodlights are on during the day in that video, as the sun is going down. There's just something really atmospheric about a match that starts in the early evening, but it's completely dark and floodlit after half time. :)

It's great having the new engine; I just hope that it doesn't mean we have to wait half a year before we can mod things - especially the team kits and names. 'Man Red' and 'Merseyside Blue' don't do anything for me. ;)

Let's hope that option files haven't changed much. But something tells me that the content files will take that half-year to be moddable.

Hello chaps.....having watched the recent e3 videos I have come away quite pleased with how the new
Pro is looking...I'm genuinely excited for the first time this ENTIRE generation.....however, despite the new engine I remain sceptical...the pro games on ps3 IMO have been hugely sub standard. The standard that we measure them by was set by konami on the ps2. Guys like gerd (who I remember from that era! Here on evo web) understand that.....just because now he feels FIFA is the better game (I agree this gen) doesn't mean he doesn't want the new pro to be the best football game we have ever seen. For me I don't care konami or EA...I just want the best football game possible. Ea have raised the bar....for me, IMO, it's a fantastic football game experience. The gameplay, the career mode..genuinely bring me back to the old master league days in terms of satisfaction @ playing a football game. If I'm honest..have I ever been as happy scoring goals as I was back on the ps2 pro evo.... no. But have EA filled a void left by a quite disgraceful failing by konamiI to provide us with a game this gen that even deserves the title pro evolution soccer......yes. I don't gett he blind ignorance of some fanboys...I'm a fan of football games period.

The new pro has great potential...but there is a hugely worrying aspect for me from the gameplay videos....the goal keeping. The keeping on one goal in particular was awful.....if I hear the word early build, fixed in new version etc i literally take it with a pinch of salt. We have been let down so many times and
Heard the same excuses year after year......I would love the return of the king, fingers crossed.

Both titles for me look promising....roll on October!!

Quick question: Is it possible to pre-order PES14 PC at this time, as it is with FIFA? If so, please direct me as to where I could do such. Thanks.

The main things are the kits/names - everything else can wait as far as I'm concerned. At least this year it doesn't look as though we're going to need any lighting mods. :)

I suppose Konami could release a locked-down Steam demo, if that's possible?

A read only demo? Maybe that can be done; I'm not sure.

Incidentally, is it just me or does PES' look remind you guys more of International matches, while Fifa's reminds more of Premiership?
