The Update says 1.05, but when you check the info of the game in the menu somewhere (options/statistics or so) it says the game version is 1.10.

At least that´s how I´ve been told.

Blimey, the game is indeed a lot tougher post-patch. I'm really struggling in ML on World Class level. Any tips? Also, what game speed is generally best? I've been using the default but was wondering if -1 might help give me a bit more time on the ball.

Giving this game another go since the patch. Now I think is the time to give it a real go considering its in a retail state. I am enjoying it. It challenging on superstar 1 bar pass assistance. Feels smooth and I'm getting used to the movement of player s in the way they change direction etc. But so far very nice. Graphics are good enough and havent seen too much nosense from ai. More patches like this and it could a real little belter.

It's much better, but, man, after just 30 minutes of my first game the COM had attempted to do that IRRITATING low pass to the near post three times already, and scored off one of them. That's a deal breaker for me

Dude how on earth did you get that blasted flat cross?!

ML over 20 games and nothing. Downloaded the digital version and will see if it pays any different

All that glitters isn't gold. PES 2014 on the 7 year old PS3 plays a better game of football than FIFA 14 on the 5 month old PS4;))

Well said mate, look. . . .if it's not the near post it's the refs or the through ball or whatever, it has to be something. The game is great . .a few imperfections but show me the perfect game.

- Finally, they've (somewhat) fixed the shooting! I like that whenever I try to blast left-footed shots with the likes of Felliani and Valencia, the ball skies over the bar every time.

- I've for some reason just started to use the grounded shots with Y and the keeper keeps on saving them with his feet. Maybe I need to play a few more games.

- Through balls seem to be useless for me now. Anything less than halfways seems incredibly timid. Y seems to work as a O-lite button because it's always passing behind the player not ahead.

- For some reason the difficulty I had set at Superstar diverted back to Top Player, and it's much more difficult. Although, one should note I've only played a handful of games in the past couple of months.

It's much better since this last patch. I actually enjoy the game now.

One of the key things is that it feels balanced, which is great because both Attack and Defence feel rewarding in their own ways and there's a skill to both. I played online earlier and there was little lag; it was enjoyable.

Another thing I like, which many might not, is how you need to pay attention to the direction your player receives the ball in. If a player is running one way, and you try to trap the ball and run the other instantly then often you'll just end up with a really heavy touch and give the ball away. You need to look where they are moving and adjust your own direction accordingly.

Complaints:

Even though shooting has been fixed (well balanced), it's still so very basic. Players can't and don't struggle to get powerful shots in and around the goal area from any angle at any stage. It needs to be contextual and based on their body position. They need to work on that in PES 2015 because it's probably the kind of thing I'd expect from a sub-par PS1 football game at present. Kudos to them for making most long shots go slightly over the bar now. At least there's a reason not to shoot from distance all the time.

Players feel so flimsy on the ball, and can get knocked off it too easily which promotes a passing game but only because they seem to lack control and you know it's better to give the ball to another player than to try to hold onto it.

Player switching. Might just be online but it's bad. I've had many problems in defence where it switches to a player further away from the ball, and it won't switch fluidly to the guy I want.

Anybody else having problems avoiding relegation on Superstar Master League offline. The CPU is determined to send me down no matter what I do.

You could even try Moyes tactics the other night of 9 in the box defending and you still won't stop it.

The old Pes 13 scripting of conceding a quick goal or two is back. . . .must have came free with the accurate hard shots.

Nevertheless it's still very enjoyable. . . have to avoid the sack though.

- The binary outcome of the shove stick (RS) is still in full effect. Either they stumble as you get the ball from them, or they do that weird 3-step stumble before falling and winning a foul. Don't think I've ever seen a player do that animation without winning a free kick. Doesn't matter whether it's Felliani or Mata shoving Modric, FK every time.

- I still have little use for the through pass button. Passing seems much harder in terms of placing the direction and makes through passing exponentially harder. I've pulled off or almost pulled off a few after 50 or so attempts at it.

- Free kicks are still pretty easy with the guide on.

- I'm not able to attack any corners. Don't know whether this is due to improved defense or just static attackers.

- Central defenders are still prone to getting sucked in to doubling a player when it's not needed.

- I've noticed what someone said yesterday/today about players winning FK/penalties after already shooting. I won a PK with RVP from this.

- I've still not been able to score a grounded goal.

Sack Moyes, sell Giggs!

This thing is old, i have not seen any goals on corner kick since I have the game, and I have it since day one. Dont know what the problem really is, I think that you are right saying the attackers are static + the fact that the headers are really weak. Even the AI cant score on a corner kick

This new patch has made me use manual pass a lot more. I actually prefer to use manual pass instead of basic through ball in the final third. Some beautiful balls played.

I've scored hundreds of goals from corners...

I've scored tone of goals from corners. And they feel very realistic, with a player coming from behind and hitting the ball with tones of force. The CPU on the other hand as struggled immensely to score, altough I saw a few.

Then I really need some tips for my corner kicks :-)
maybe its because I play with manual shooting, I don't know

Watch the attackers movement pattern and time the corner to just before they start to move against the goal. Before they removed the manual A/D levels you could push and pull players in and out of the box but now you simply have to wait and time it. At least that's how I do it.

Finally got around playing the PS3 version with Plus, wow. The game is almost unplayable on PS3. Really poor, I hated it.

I feel bad for people that can't play on 360 or PC. This is laughable, to say the least.

Well, I disagree, but then we knew that already. Three COM passes low into the near post after just 30 mins game time is just shite. And people said that had been fixed.

In all seriousness, I think I've seen you mention that before about the near post passes, but for some reason I'm totally oblivious to that issue, on any version of the game since launch. Weird.

Scored a few corners over the months by luck mostly, I think, rather than skill... Engaging the shot button as soon as possible after the kick though and following Zero's advice above helps. In contrast, I've scored a shed load of crosses though by using manual modifier in combination with the R2 button for loft and curve.

Fair enough, my version before the patches was really noticeable, all the COM did was the same pass to the near post over and over again. Strange we see it different, but there you go.

1st game ML against Middlesborough and 3 low crosses by the COM wtf have you done Suuuuupertalk?

Haha sorry!!

I actually played a couple of games tonight and didn't see it, strange as it was constant in my game last night.

I'm still not a massive fan of the game but I will admit Konami have made it much, much more playable with all the patches. So fair enough to them for that. I personally can't wait for PES on PS4, there are a lot of good things about the game but for me it just doesn't all come together properly. But it's a first attempt on limited hardware so we'll see where they go from here.

I suspect it may be down to team tactics

after reading here, i've finally gone back to PES and DL'd 1.5 or 1.10 and its clear to see. this should have been launch code. it's finally playable and getting more enjoyable everytime.

Only, what speed does everyone play on and still feels bit sluggish when trying to head clear and the player chests it. maybe im not imputing right or its a timing thing.

Some heavy scripting a la Pes 2013 going on in Master League offline Superstar. Seems the results are predetermined which is annoying , still some great football being played.

Have to prepare for life in Div 2 by the looks of things.

Do you think the main problem at this point is how lifeless attacking feels? Nothing really feels very rewarding; from build-up play to taking shots it's all quite dull. Shots never really take you by surprise, and it's just really slow when it should be more dynamic and exciting. You seem to get a lot of attacking opportunities which perhaps isn't the best way for the game to play. It'd be better if you got attacking opportunities less and if they felt more exciting when they did happen.

As far as I see it, this is the biggest problem with the game alongside players lacking control on the ball and the patch really hasn't done much to fix either of these issues.

I didn't like the game pre-patch but now I'd be willing to say that PES 2014 is a game of good parts, but not a good game as a whole.

I AM getting very little attacking opportunities but you have to take them cos the CPU just shoots and scores at will.

I find it's better on -1 speed otherwise it can end up like the alamo trying to stop attacks.

If you can hold on to the ball and shrug off players pressuring it helps.

There is nice build up play, just depends on your tactics and approach. This is on Superstar I can't vouch for other levels.
