PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I'm looking forward to trying PES 2014 again. It's available on PS+ from the 2nd of April so I'll be taking out a month's pass for it (call it a rental).

I had the game on PC and it'll be the last time I buy the game on that platform.

That makes no sense to me at all, but whatever. At least it will be available on the foremost gaming system available.

The article doesn't say that.

Dan Dawkins simply gives his opinions about a probable Ps4 exclusive. He never said Pes 2015 is Ps4 exclusive at the moment.

To be honest i would be ok with it. My next console will be Ps4 :))

I just says that we can expect PES 2015 on PS4 but Konami won't confirm any other versions (through the official twitter account). Dan then suggests an exclusive could be a good idea. Says very little really, I'd expect the game to release on Xbone and PC as well.

We know that few months ago...

f**k, false joy...

I'll buy Xbox One for Halo 2 Anniversary but i'll never gonna buy Ps4 for Pes..It would be suicide for Konami to release Pes for only one platform whereas EA releases Fifa for every platform available..

Not gonna happen..

I had two games with the new patch, it's too early for me to have a definitive opinion. But one thing is for sure the patch changed a lot, for the better or for the worse.

Yes, something has been lost, players are now too stiff and responsive, it's similar to PES 2013 movement actually, which I think is the wrong direction to go. But after all the backlash in the last few months with people whining that PES 2013 is better it was not unexpected. It feels like Konami gave up on its vision regarding MASS, which is imho a major pity.

The major improvement of the patch is imho that defensive lines are better organized and that shooting has more zip.

But shooting's successrate is now way over-roof! Now every player can and does shoot like the best players in the world and nearly every shot is a direct goal from any position and any circumstance, which feels imho wrong!

Sure it adds some challenge to the CPU-AI, but that is a wrong form of challenge. The CPU-AI should offer challenge by playing clever, outplaying me and not through taking easy guaranteed goal-shots.

Will have to play many more matches, but for now I have mixed feelings.

im in the UK and just bought the april issue of OPSM and it says ATM PES15 is PS4 exclusive because of sales problem...

It might be PS3/PS4 exclusive, PS3 has by far the biggest installed base. Or maybe it might be PS4 exclusive on NG consoles only, but this does not mean at all that game will not be released on other platforms.

The fact that PC users have not received winters transfers yet, is a suspicious fact that probably Konami is stopping PC development.

Let's wait and see.

Ah, there you go then. Classic case of Chinese Whispers. I think Konami would be bonkers not to release it on the Xbox.

OK, I just figured PC was into the equation as long as the discussion was whether the game was going to be PS4 exclusive or not.

Does anyone know if the new world challenge mode is available in ps3 north america? I can't seem to find it on PS store

I haven't been able to play the new patch yet but what you say was my biggest fear. Lots of people moaning about things for months instead of learning the new way of playing, it seems Konami finally gave up.

The game on PS3 was unplayable for me before this patch. The frame rate issues plagued this game like the black death did and thus 1.7 million people passed away from the brand. No way I would be playing this at all had it not been for this patch, it gave it core again and lots of things are shaping up nicely. If there is a patch in April it will smooth things up further towards the real vision, because really, this game has been sold and developed at the same time. It was never really a game at all from September - March.

I thought I'd give this game another try with the new patch. Played two friendlies on top player. In the first, I played with Barcelona against Heerenveen and drew 1-1. In the second, I played with Heerenveen against Barcelona, and again drew 1-1. Player stats are irrelevant in this game. No more PES 2014 for me.

Aside from an oddity here and there, which I can live with, there's still the remaining issue of keepers being extremely weak against near post shots from near dead angle.

I've played a few penalty shootouts since the release of this patch which also highlight some of the keeper problems.
I've seen shots hit directly towards him (keeper slightly off centre positioning) and he'll stand completely rigid like a blind man not knowing when the ball was hit.

I think it's a lack of animation allowing him to reach different areas of the net, reaction times/urgency + awareness.
Although the last 2 have been slightly improved with the latest patch, especially urgency. I've seen a good few double save. They're not palming the shot to another attacker as much either.

Seems now if they get to the ball it's a save. I haven't seen any dives were they make a dive, but can't get even hand on it to keep it out. Those and 'unclean' saves from the last few games of the series we used to see.

Those bumbling goals from 3yrds out still happen, but I put that done mainly to animations. They just stand rigid in front of it, or attempt to bend over and pick it up.

Or perhaps you just haven't had enough time with the new game to be able to make the advantages in player stats count. This is effectively a new game. It plays dramatically different to the previous patch. Griezmann, for example, moves with much more freedom and agility than any of my other players. He's clearly more talented than anyone else on my team and it's reflected in his stats.

I've expressed some very good impressions of the newest patch of late, and those views haven't completely changed, but I must echo the words of a previous poster who expressed disappoint at the new approach to animation. It's a step back in that regard. The players don't move with nearly as much fluidity, and it's difficult to swallow considering what player movement was like when the game first released. It's nowhere near as dynamic.

Perhaps the developers couldn't figure out a way of improving so many areas with their current system, so they reverted to something a bit more primitive. It's a lot like PES 2013 in how you control the movement of players on the pitch. So many things have been addressed and it does make the game more playable as a result, but it's a bitter pill to swallow that they couldn't keep the same animation system. It was a delight. So much freedom.

That's weird.

I deleted all of my PES data on my Xbox so that it was as new. No data packs, no patches. I didn't download any patches, only the data packs, and the game plays virtually the same way just with the slick animations. Like, I never got caught by one on ones due to my defence being shitty, I never saw the super acceleration speed, I didn't have to use super cancel to change the direction of my chasing players, my keepers made no errors, and the game seemed, well, just as responsive as it had after the latest patch.

Anybody else tried this?

I dont get this.

Guy on twitter complained about the game and said it was the first PES he bought and sold on the first day.

How the hell can you make judgements when you haven't given it a chance?

I honestly feel for konami or any game Dev trying to please people that rationalise this way.

At the very least start a CL if you want to find out how the game really is. Exhibition mode is a weird thing that never really represent the game because in competition modes there are a bunch of background factors that impact the match massively.

Strange experiment, flawed conclusion.
