PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I think it would be best for Konami to just shut up and not promise anything and just work silently on a last real good patch for PES 2014 fixing goalkeepers and shooting and then silently work and delivering a much improved Pes 2015, especially improved regarding AI and realtime twotiered stamina/fatigue system...

and let the resulting game speak for itself. A great football game will make itself interesting through mouth to mouth propaganda.
Don't you mean "word of mouth"? :P.

If they said nothing they would be accused of not being transparent and ignoring the fans.

Must admit i am pretty physched for PES2015 more than PES2014. We knew all along they would struggle putting a next gen engine under the PS3s bonnet.

From what I have seen on my Ps4 collection of games, BF4, AC4, Killzone SF, FIFA 14 and the free indie titles the devs seem to ease in quite well barring dice with BF.

I think we will be in for a treat. PES2014 was meant for next gen no doubt making it work will be easier

And yet You suggested earlier we all boycott Purchasing this year Rob.
It all reads very depressingly.
Of course You are all entitled to Your opinions, but its all so doom laden.
Mine is we have had worse in the past than PES2014.
The more they hyped it in 2013 and listened to certain areas of the community, the more they failed to deliver in the crucial gameplay area. I could forgive them for leaving a lot of things out, because there is nothing this community cannot add back in.
I didn't suggest we boycott the game at all...

I suggested that we be more cautious this year than to just blindly pre-order or go and buy the game day one as many usually would so as not to reward Konami for being incompetent should the game turn out to be disappointing again.

Should the game turn out to be excellent, I'll buy, play and enjoy it as much as anyone - I don't encourage anyone to boycott the series at all.

There's plenty of things the community can't just "add back in" and I'm not being "doom laden", I'm just making criticisms and being realistic having been thoroughly let down by Konami this year.

PES was always one of those games that I would put on pre-order each year without any thought. Not going to happen this year.

A boycott is foolish, but a cautious 'wait and see' approach is what I will be taking this year.

I think the doom surrounding PES is a culmination of seven/eight years of disappointment that has finally hit home amongst some of the most faithful of PES fans. You kind of lose hope after so many years of being let down by a game series that is yet to hit the heights of the last generation.

Tell me mates do you think you have any chance of Konami in sell your PES franchise to another company, such as Ubisoft, Sega and 2K? remember that your opinions are worth a lot to me so I appreciate every answer even if it is short and I will be reading between the lines.

:SMUG: :))

Don't think so mate. PES is a cash cow for Konami.

Do people still pre-order games:CONFUSE:

Like Zee, I'm pretty psyched for PES 2015. PES 2014 + a years worth of improvements. Should be good.

:SMUG: :))

I expected nobody to be psyched about PES 2015,that's a surprise
If i would say PES is dead to me i would be totally lying, this is why i'm curious about how they will develop the first PS4 PES.

For me I pray that EA releases proper FIFA15 on all platforms to close all oxygen routes to KONAMI.

Would that make your life better?

This thread is fucking pathetic to read. Everyone's entitled to their opinions but for the love of GOD do you need to repeat it fifteen times a week?

You know what, I think Skyrim is a disaster of a game and I DON'T hang around a Skyrim forum making sure everyone knows and you know why? BECAUSE NOBODY FUCKING CARES!

/rant off

Agree still enjoying this pes (pc the console versions are a mess) despite its flaws, looking forward to where they take it with 2015 on the more powerful systems.

+1

PES 2014 on pc is so close to an awesome football game, that I just hope KONAMI don't do any radical changes and concentrate on what is really flawed.

Already hyped for PES 2015 :P

Not only on PC, on xbox360 with patch 1.04 and without any DLC's, played with zero bar, top-player and 25 min or 30 min matches and gamespeed -1 it's for me near bliss.

Had again a great 30 min match this saturday morning.

The passing, the dribbling, the using of the body to win time, and the need to think in midfield is sublime and not something I felt in any football game before.

I love it!

For me PES 2014 (despite its flaws) and PES 5 are the best PES games there are.

WOW ... with all the hate going on... i thought i was the only one really enjoying PES 2014.

I play 20 minutes matchs ( game time, real time is more like 30 minutes ).

Currently having a hard time since i am trying going full manual controls , and passing and shooting on full manual is not as "forgiving" as on 1 bar and basic shooting. I am loving it on full manual, but i just tried it on pes 2014 just now. I did play manual passing on pes 2013 though.

Hope that Konami doesnt go into " pes 2015, you can get past defenderes without even running " or " pes 2015, controlling better than batman " bullshit crap.

Do you guys think that EA are more close to make a proper "nextgen" game with a gameplay that fits more our liking ?

The Fox Engine should represent a new beginning for the franchise, but with so much negativity being posted here I think the hope was definetely gone for some people here.

It seems to me that many are thinking that if FoxEngine didn't "save" the game this year, then nothing will next year. Do you guys think that having a new engine is not that relevant anymore ? Don't you think that with the new consoles we could get something special in pes 2015 ?

There are definitely a few positive signs going forward - they brought the animation transitions up to an acceptable standard (just need more variation), there's more physicality, they introduced 11v11 online, they are using the Havok physics engine, which is a fantastic engine and if they configure it correctly we could end up with very lifelike ball physics, the Fox engine is evidently capable of excellent visuals, as seen in MGS footage.

I think PES 2014 was seriously behind schedule and rushed out in a very unfinished state - I've played Steam Early Access Pre-Alpha builds that are better optimized and have less game breaking bugs... Maybe the business people at Konami made a decision when the developers were nowhere near completion of the project... Who knows? That's Konami for you.

The game engines used seem fine, as long as the developers are skilled enough and have a vision for the game then I think PES 2015 could be very decent.

I just urge people to hold off pre-ordering or buying on day one in case they fuck up again.

After playing the PC version of PES 2014 i'm sure the game will surprise a lot people next year on the new consoles. After playing the PS3 version i was very, very skeptical but on PC this game is already so much better. I'm sure PES 2015 will have a a strong gameplay on the new consoles but i'm also sure it will still missing a lot of content.

Having a new engine is definitely relevant in my opinion, considering how poor PES 2008-2013 were. PES 2014 and it's new engine is a big step in the right direction even though it seems like it's caught between two generations and is somewhat unfinished in some areas.

We could get something special with PES 2015, yes. We may not though:LOL:

Talking about engines I will use a car analogy and quote the famous Pirelli slogan: "power is nothing without control".

The new engine means nothing if its power cannot be applied correctly. PES Productions have no excuses. We will see later this year if they are up to the job.

I can predict that all FIFA PC modding will start dying out after PES2015....KONAMI cannot screw up that badly to be worst than FIFA15 PC....Day 1 purchase for me unless EA surprises me positivly and KONAMI negatively.
If Konami decides to rebuild the database and tournament structure from scratch, maybe.

Otherwise, I don't think so.

To be honest I already played Fifa NG and it felt worse than Fifa 2014 Current Gen, main flaw is that game is scripted 100%, soccer is not scripted at all, that is the main reason I prefer PES for much! It feels soccer!

Now PES 2014 has it's flaws and it feels weird sometimes, but gameplay is much better than Fifa's.

PES 2014's gameplay feels Next Gen ( I play the PC version), Fifa still plays (even NG) with 2007-2008 engine, it feels dated at least for me.

If EA changes the engine for Fifa 2015, my opinion might change, but not sure if EA could deliver a non-scripted soccer game with a new engine.

PS4/XBOne is CURRENT GEN! Next Generation is something not yet on the market and at the moment we don't even know their names or intended specs. PS3 and XBOX360 is hereby Previous Generation. They were Current Generation from 2006/2005 until November 2013.

I don't get why this is so hard for some people...

PS. I get annoyed by these things... Where I live people also claim to wear "caps" and look stupidly at me when I ask them where the other one is. "Well, you said you needed to find your "caps" and you're only wearing one..."

Not sure what is your point... PS4, just launched, about 12 weeks ago, it is Next Gen compared, to the PS3 system..... or not? Your statement is correct as well, but 99% of all people/video game sites, etc refer today to the PS4,Xbox One as Next Gen systems because they were just launched...

In case you did not understand, I was comparing FIFA 2014 on the PS4 (newer console, better technology) vs PES 2014 that was released on PS3 (older console), and EA is stuck with the older engine (since 2007) even on the PS4, so EA's effort was really poor, game feels dated and unrealistic, 100% scripted, even on the PS4.

PES 2014 offers a new gameplay engine and feels Next Gen compared to Fifa's gameplay, but yes PES currently has lots of bugs that need to be tweaked.

I believe EA ported over FIFA 14 with greater success than Konami trying to cram the fox/havok engine into the last gen consoles especially the Ps3

Through the enitre last gen The cross platform games on the PS3 were much more problematic than the Xbox360. The games are developed on Pc then ported over to the consoles.

The latest gen consoles are better aligned especially the PS4. If you look at a game like outlast which was on PC. The Dev mentioned the ease at which the game was ported over. http://gamingbolt.com/outlast-ps4-runs-at-60-fps-developer-faced-no-cpu-thread-management-issues

The Xbone by contrast is having major issues early - most games have to be optimised to 720p at 30fps to run smoothly. One would have thought they learnt from Sony's mistake

The reason I am mentioning all this is that I suspect konami are well ahead of the development of PES2015 on the PS4

Just look back at the fist few pages on this thread with the things that they were considering and what eventually made it into PES2014

I expect to hear significant bits of info by early April.
