Agreed at first but remember those sales figures? 80% of the 2.57million copies sold for 1st financial quarter. You can't neglect those in hope that the other millions of fans that didn't buy it might be happier.

There are fans like myself who enjoy what is there and want further improvement

I would love to even enjoy what is there but while my Playstation is at risk everytime I load up and subsequently exit the game i'm not giving it the time of day.

It is clear they are struggling with patching this game, I am just suggesting if they cant get these things sorted after 3 months since release then whats the point trying at all. focus attention on to the next game

I think they need to release another goalkeeper update at least. And they need to fix the advanced shooting because if you are using this setting you will hit the post 6, 7, 8 times every single game. It's just not working the way it should.

Of course they should give us more because the game has much more problems but we need at least good goalkeepers and a decent shooting system. That is a must for a football game imo.

Plus the enemy AI is 10x dumber than PES'. They're totally oblivious to their surrounding. And the stealth killing mechanics got to be the most cop-out feature in modern video game.

but don't you see? this is my point. look how long it is taking them to get these patches out. there is something seriously technically wrong that is preventing this. reading between the lines of officalpes and Adams posts they have technical issues preventing them from being released and/or are getting patches rejected by sony/microsoft.

And even then, do we really believe that pes productions are simply a patch away from tweaking these things (goalkeeping/advanced shooting/whatever) etc so that the game is sorted? and by sorted i mean so that a decent game of football, which PES2014 is, doesn't get consistently ruined by moments of madness? The common issues that the majority of pes players (whether they like the game or not) would agree are a factor on the playability of this game simply aren't going to be fixed on this next patch, or probably tthe one after. Look at how minor the changes have been in the patches before this. either they don't believe these things are an issue (i'm not that cynical) or they simply don't have the capability to fix these things. the terrible communication and confusion around these patches indicate to me the latter. they may as well quite while they are ahead. the people that enjoy playing this game now will continue to do so, the other people aren't going to be swayed by the next patch. start working on PES2015 NOW.

As an aside, to specifically respond to a point 'fix the advanced shooting' - HA yeah right, I specifically mentioned this to Adam day 1 about how advanced shooitng did not have enough margin for error and how hard it is to miss the target and as a result the woodwork gets hit more often than not and he disagreed. things like that definitely wont be fixed. good luck hoping though

I used advanced shooting and hit the cross bar all with virtually any shot from distance that goes past the keeper.

I have falcao with finishing at 99 and he cannot score from the end of the box. I think I have scored 3 from outisde the box in 4 seasons of the master league and 4 headers.

Its strange in that I love playing the game when you have most of your players with decent heart, but shooting can be infuriating. The worst thing is that players take a touch before shooting so you cannot pass the to someone in a crowded box and not expect their shot to be blocked. Worst is a pass to player with an open goal who controls it first or knocks the ball on in the direction you are attempting to shoot.
 
I think they should put fix the passing and shooting only in manual and basic, they should remove this advanced option as already proven that went on and it don't give certain, remove the trajectories of free kicks and corners as they must were returning as were in PES 2013 and for the penalty I particularly liked the penalty system in the PES 2014 keep it. I think it should enhance all modes of offline and online games and get more European licenses including the Russian Premier League to PES 2015 and more some the 2nd European divisions such as Serie Bwin, Liga Adelante, the English second division same unlicensed & Ligue 2 france and who know our Brazilian serie B for more thrills in the ML/MLO and of course the main pack throughout the game must better them.

I really understand your point of view. Maybe you're right and working on PES 2015 only would be the smarter decision. But at the moment i'm playing this game on PC and it is not that bad (like the PS3 Version) and with better goalkeepers and better shooting it would be fun enough playing it until PES 2015 hit the stores. It has more faults but the bad goalkeepers and the bad shooting are gamekillers for me. I guess i'm just not finished with the game like many other (which i completely understand) and i would love to play it some more.

I have no hope that they will fix a lot of things in the next weeks. Really not. But i don't need a lot to have some more fun with the game. I don't expect a brilliant PES 2014 game anymore. But i'm still hoping for some improvements and i really think better goalkeepers and a better shooting system should be possible without stopping the production of PES2015. We will see the same engine in PES 2015 so they have to work on these things anyway. That is how i see it. At least on PC. On the PS3 i guess it's another story.

Yeah and it's really sad. Shooting is such an important part of a football game and back in the days shooting in PES was so satisfying. Scoring was a pure joy! Now i score most of my goals in the box, the AI too. In almost every game you see a goal which leaves a bad taste in your mouth because of terrible goalkeeping or terrible (AI) defending or stupid finishing (like you said stupid touches).

I think they owe us at least one more patch that will solve the goalkeeper and shooting problems. Last year they don't stop working on the goalkeepers and at least there were decent after the last patch. I expect that this year also.
 
I feel manual shooting is the way to go this year. Gives you much more freedom. I usualy never use manual, but this case is exactly when it is needed.
 
I disagree about pes 2014 not receiving more updates. pes 2015 already has elements being worked on inplace and probably has many things already fixed for the next generation consoles. Rain for example, konami have said they have reworked it but its not ready yet,

a turd is something which has no potential whatsoever.

pes 2014's gameplay even now has good potential to be a nice, enjoyable game despite even the poor shooting if they can in someway just get the game to run exactly in a carbon copy to how it does in training mode. They need a patch to heavily reduce the effect of heart, that alone helps much of the game, especially keepers, they are almost, i mean 'almost' reliable.

Add possibly some level of detail changes and some general tweaks and the game all of a sudden becomes, very good. Heart fucks the game up because the game is simply not responsive enough for it to work.

This is still all an 'if' for 2014, I'm playing 2013 anyway.

last year and in previous years we usually only got up to an 1.03 by march, Konami are already on 1.06 since December which shows they aren't settled or putting their feet up like last year. we will probably get 1.50 or something soon.
 
I don't think advanced shooting is broken. It's just whether you can accept the concept or not. Personally I don't use it often because I found the shooting feel less random, and since it rely precisely on user's input it just too mechanical. Maybe that's why most of the time the ball hit the woodwork.

I also understand most people would prefer to have total control of player's action. However I do like the randomness and the overall looser feeling of the game compared to the overly strict 2013. This is not a fighting game, it don't have to be too strict regarding to user's input. But I do agree they need to improve the latency for the consoles.

accept that concept that in an 'advanced' version of the shooting mechanic it's basically impossible to miss the target (inc. posts)?
 
OK this is weird started playing last night and the game has gone to shit. My keeper made a few shocking errors I am talking rushing out to dive on the ball then loose it and run in circles trying to grab it the opposition walk up and tap it in while my defenders vault over him. Happened twice now and this is weird as I am now approaching the end if my Serie A campaign and haven't noticed this madness before. Also my team feel heavy and irrational. I see all those things supertalk was on about and can understand his frustration

No happened a few nights before and after the patch. Saved it to my HDD will upload later as well as send a video to Konami / Adam / officialpes seeing as they don't seem to know who is doing what
 
It's a funny game this year, there are moments when it plays great then for some reason it plays like shit it's frustrating cause we all know underneath there is a great game, I guess that's what has frustrated me the most and gave up and to make it worse they said we were getting a patch before Xmas and it's been over a month and communication is minimal very unprofessional

heart fucks the game right up! Konami need to cut it loose for this year and hopefully implement it better next year when the responsiveness improves. Play this game in exhibition mode with no heart on it's a good game on 1.06 With heart its a mess!

I want to start releasing some full match videos with this game with no heart in exhibition mode and in training mode to show this games potential, konami majorly fucked up by announcing heart as a key feature, it was not ready but had to be included for promotion sake, stupid! stupid! stupid! Many bugs have been sorted and fixed in the patched but heart remains the feature which brings all the shit out of the game, konami need to make heart optional in competitive modes, its not available online so people are finding that ok without lag, offline modes are dead because of heart.

I've noticed similar mad things as well. I was playing in the 2nd leg of the semi final of the Cup Winners Cup when all of a sudden my keeper ran from between the goal and stood at the far edge of the 18 yard box. The attacking player then somehow stole the ball from my defensive midfielder and lopped it over my defenders into an unguarded goal!

Like many people I feel a potentially great game is badly let down by unforgivable blunders which leave a bad taste in the mouth.

I played manual shooting since yesterday and the more i play it the more i like it.I need much more training with it but as long as the assisted shooting is that bad and advanced shooting is broken manual shooting really seems to be the better option. It's difficult to learn because it's is very sensitive but you can place the ball into the corner much better. And i love that a bad shot goes wide. I already hit the corner flag! :BOP:
 
I use manual shooting and find it poor. I miss doing and instep curl to the far post or the laced piledriver along the ground ala PES2013. Also have you seen you can't hit with any elevation? The ball seems to go in a direction regardless of any physics
 
I need some more time with manual shooting before i'm able to judge. But assisted shooting is really bad this year and manual seems better (not perfect in any way), at first sight.
 
Basic shooting with the odd application of L2 manual shooting pleases me. Straight up manual shooting and advanced shooting are FUBAR, from experience. That being said, shooting needs a lot of improvement in the next game. It use to be exhilarating in the PS2 days.

I think if they took the restricts off the shooting and allowed it to be as good as 2013 was the goalkeepers would look even worse than they do now.

I think that's exactly right. It's a shame because I really enjoy the rest of the game more than any football game this gen.

Personally except for shooting, i have some issues with passing system. I find it too restrictive. I can't pass the ball with freedom. Only with full manual but the bad resposivness and general awareness spoil the whole pleasure, even if i'm not the biggest fan of manual and i'd like to see the assisted system more decent. For example, like pes 5 and we9le (i still play this game).

Also i'd like to see the variety of errors in passing and shooting like in we9le.
 
I wish it would go back to the way it used to be.
A tap to keep the shot low
A longer button press for different scale of elevation
Add in the directional aim

+ now we'd have R2 (only if it didn't turn the ball into a balloon in the breeze)

If they sort out the normal shooting there shouldn't need to be an 'advanced' option imo
PS. body balance + positioning was a big part of shooting back on ps2 as well. No excuses really
