Eazy you are right, it gets easy all you need to do is turn away from the defender and protect your ball. Once he is on the wrong side you simply sprint away.

Amazingly all the tricks I learnt about dribbling was by watching the com.
I find I am now able to sprint past defenders when running at pace. Just a nudge of the right stick puts the defenders off especially when they are stationary and you are sprinting.

Also with the L1 + O it plays a good long ball that isnt easily intercepted by the CPU defenders. I hit a 30 yard volley that crashed off the woodwork with Pandev. Still hunting for that elusive long ranger. Its hard on manual shooting though.

My most challenging opponents are the quick counter attackers or long ball strategy teams but it I concentrate I track the runners or play the offside trap. Problem is the CPU constantly change tactics according to the game.

The wonderful thing about PES 2014 is that it's a deep game, not for those who want R1 sprints, cross to penalty area headers then cheep goals.
And even more wonderful, you can do that if you're lazy, doesn't want to learn the new game play or simply stupid moaner.

the game is getting beter, the more u get used to 2 conrol sticks

but please fix the 1-2, they run way too far / easy exploit

Yeah the players hauling ass upfield is ridiculous. I wonder if Konami know of the large amount of little bugs with the game. O somehow suspect they putting all their resources into the next game already.

i am going to post some of my gameplay tips when i have time but for now all i can say is dribbling for me is far too easy ryt now and the secret is R2 and right analog stick.
Holding the right analog stick in the direction you are sprinting will cause you to keep your speed without having to press R1 twice.
Pressing R2 before a volley will increase the accuracy of your volley resulting in better chances.
R2 is jst as important as R1 not just for close control but even for controlling the ball in many situations with varing degrees and accuracy for different players which is where individuality comes in.
Think of the right analog stick as an extension of your feet and combining with R2 gives you a better control over the ball in tight situations.
I am a big fan of the L1+O as it lets me pick out the farthest player for a header.
I do not know if people have discovered this but i can successfully guard a player when chasing a loose ball to cause the ball to go out for for a goal=kick, by pressing the the direction opposite to the run i am making i.e pressing the direction backwards instead of forwards while chasing a loose ball. To do this move you need a high calibre defender,John terry for example will pull it off easily. I tried it with pique today against rooney and although pique managed to do it, he was almost knocked of the ball.
These are tested facts and they do work, i am discovering more things everyday in the game e.g setting combination play on in your tactical setup as well as offside trap keeps your defensive shape and makes your teammate make the runs you have setup automatically.
Also i cannot seem to beat fulham on exhibition mode on superstar they play too much good football try it out

Thanks for the tips about the volley and the making the ball go out!, will try them out, especially the latter which is very interesting. I do wonder if Right Stick affects shooting? give it more power? your post just gave me that idea..have you tried that? I will try it out too.

If long range shooting where to be fixed (fixed as in, diversity in trajectory, no super glue from keepers, keepers throwing themselves despite the ball going outside the post, more power in R2 shooting) this game would be pretty great.

When fooling around with shooting in Training Mode u are able to hit some nice long rangers but it seems near impossible in matches. If someone have some advice I would be happy. As of now the game is a bit boring due to this, which is sad cos it's a really deep game and since I'm starting to get the hang of this Right stick thing it's even more complex in a good way.

Don't think much will change either when looking at Adams answers to people on Twitter from January 10th.

@Adam_Bhatti will shooting from outside the area be fixed?

@jonnybravo1971 not sure right now mate

@Adam_Bhatti Will there be any more gameplay updates?

@Naaaades I really can't say right now. I certainly hope so based on feedback, I await any information from the team in Japan.

They will provide a boot update in the future though...

Any bets on when Konami will release the data pack for the January transfers? It's probably gonna be late Feb/early March in true Konami fashion...

Russian transfer window, and numerous others from Eastern European will be closed at the end of February, http://www.epfl-europeanleagues.com/leagues_transfer_window.htm

Judging from PES Production release cycle (once per few weeks), it's going to be mid to late March. I'm 50/50 on this matter. Obviously I would love to see frequent update, however release cycle related to infrastructure and schedule set by Konami HQ. It's out of the developer's hand.

Agreed. I have scored a few long rangers with certain players like Stephan Lichsteiner, but overall there's little variation and they seem to get sucked into the keepers hands most of the time. Keepers makes it look easy too. Shooting in general, which is normally a forte of PES, is a bit underwhelming this year, even though there are moments of joy.

tried right stick tog with shooting, doesnt seem to do anything. But even if it does, its too cumbersome to use because the right stick is so close to the shoot button. Even for the way you described with the header, i find it very un-intuitive, maybe I just need practice lol

Whoever's fault it is and for whatever reason, they are offering a poor service compared to their competitor (EA update squads every week) and should look to restructure their approach.

It doesn't even seem like a question of money or resources... A few dedicated people could sort it out in a matter of days, especially with the relatively small number of teams in PES.

Perhaps there's an issue with licensing... I doubt that though.

Yesterday i played this game for the first time on PC and honestly the game is much more responsive on PC then it is on the PS3. It's a shame really. The game is so clearly better on PC, i couldn't believe it. Of course some problems are still the same like goalkeepers, not much foul calls, less variation in shooting etc. but overall on PC it is much more fluid, with a better AI (i saw a lot less through balls for example).

It was fun yesterday playing it.

Sorry to go off-topic (not too off-topic), Which game isn't better on PC ? especially with the loads and loads of mods and modding community.

Of course. But i don't use any mods - just Patch 1.06 and DLC 3.0 and it is clearly better already. I always assume that on PC the graphical side of a game would be better but gameplay wise i thought PS3 and PC would be the same (without mods of course). I guess last year both were identical. But this year PC has a clear advantage.

i am doing some experiments on my own on the shooting but taping R2 before taking the shot increases the accuracy. Had a blast with my friends playing offline multiplayer today

@Robbery - I may have to try the PC demo... A lot of the games I've played so far on PC and console have been way more responsive and fluid on the PC which would help in a football game.

I probably won't buy 2014, but I'm tempted to pick up 2013 because the gameplay was pretty good in that and the mods could make it play even better, as well as making it look decent. I remember back for PES5/6 the best thing about playing on PC was the much nicer turf textures. Some of the PS2 ones were horrid!

The Last of Us? :SMUG:
How about the plethora of PC exclusives... :FAIL:

Oh dear, here we go.
There's no real reason for what he said to incite an argument - I'm sure even the most ardent of console gamers could appreciate that multiplatform games are better on PC... Better framerates, better resolution, better graphics, mods etc.

If you do, could you help with our patch here:
http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/showthread.php?t=70922
I'll be sure to check it out and help if possible if I do get the game, seems like an interesting patch :).

Oh dear. here we go.
They are simple facts...

Not every post that mentions or alludes to multiple gaming platforms in a single post has to result in a childish disputes, I'd think Evo-Web is better than that.

Yes we all know personal computers out perform consoles... Posts like his are not only off topic but feed pretentious blowhards like... and then the thread turns sour and...
His post was barely off topic - Robbery mentioned that the game is better on PC and mahanddeem just pointed out that this trait is more widespread than just to PES. It's borderline but I'd say that's acceptable and is a natural progression of conversation.

There's no need for the thread to turn sour as you've pre-empted if everyone is mature about it and is prepared to discuss things properly...

Simply mentioning PC is better than consoles can be an innocent post but sadly it has so far always derailed into a never ending PC v console argument.

I know the intentions here aren't to start anything but let's just leave it at that. Some subjects are just too sensitive and always blow out of proportion.

@Honome,

I know you might be joking but that post doesn't help mate.
