With respect but that doesn't make sense technically speaking. It could be simply because less people are playing and less loaded network.

tell me about it man technically speaking it doesnt make sense i know but its true konami are calibrating stuff somehow. im playing pes 2014 since release date and i can assure you online is fixed hands down. every single day online matches used to be super slow disconnects all the time even if u were playing with your neighbour lol now every game is perfect even on christmas holiday period too. also now im playing with my cousin who moved to USA about a month ago and game is lagg free, still kinda slow but not remotely as slow as before.

were u used to play online and when was the last time u've been online with pes 2014?

You have steam version or DVD ? where do you live ? your cousin has steam or DVD ?
PES series is notorious for placebo syndromes.

we both have disks i live in Cyprus. its not placebo lol game was super slow now its normal speed and no disconnections. do you play online when was the last time you've played online?

All this talk about simulation is bullshit to be honest, it is very hard to have a real simulation in a video game.
Apparently for the simulation crowd, PES5 is the best game (coïncidentally i also think that was the best game when i played it, not now however). Was that a real football simulation ? Not at all.

I only know one game that goes very far in simulation: the rally game i mentioned in this thread (was it Richard Burns Rally). 99% of the people who played found it unplayable and frustrating...there was never a second edition...that is enough said.

Sometimes i think most people who are asking for simulation do it to give themselves an hardcore gamer attitude. That is the main reason i don't like online gaming...(well i'm pants too to be honest and i must be the only one on this forum who is honest enough to concede that).

If you want real simulation, call some friends and go out in a park to play football
if you want video game ---> fire up pes2014 exe and call it a day

lol

Agree with that, Gerd.

Simulations of any genre - be it driving, flight, strategy or whatever - only ever have niche appeal. A true football simulation just wouldn't sell in the numbers Konami would want.

The best PES games offered a certain level of simulation, enough to make it the purist's choice over the competition, but where they really excelled was in offering the perfect mix of everything that makes a great video game.

PES formula was always a fun, well-balanced mix of arcade and simulation. Easy to learn (core gameplay), hard to master (tactics, individuality).

When Konami finally realizes this and starts to develop PES with this idea on mind, then they will be back on track.

Exactly.

The balance though should be towards simulation because this would be a viable option to Fifas offerings.

In PS2 era? Competition?
The worst PES EVER:

Still managed to be better than this:

PES 2008 wasn't that bad. I played it over a year ago alongside 2009 to compare them.

While we know it sucked at a technical level, I think it's a better, more balanced product gameplay-wise than 2009, which was completely arcade (those awful 90º turns). That one, 2009, was the worst PES ever.

Fifa 08 on consoles was million times better than Pes 2008...

Pes will never be realistic because of the fanbase.Just very few of them expect realistic gameplay...Others want past-paced gameplay with cheap ways of scoring goals.I am not talking about evo-web but this is the truth..

No.I listened halfway and just stopped

Individuality is there so I cant agree also dont understand what they mean with 360 degree being an issue. Dribbling is much more satisfying since they went 360
I do not think everything is hunky dory with PES 2014 like shooting, keepers and CPU AI but what is there is good enough imo

Thanks for the link lami

You're most welcome dear.

It is true that a very close simulation of real football would be really boring - as has been said multiple times before, when you're condensing a 90 minute match into 10-15 minutes there needs to be compromises to keep the game entertaining.

However, I feel these compromises should be done in a way that still keeps the gameplay "feeling" like football without seeming obviously artificial to keep the scorelines realistic. I think the best of the PS2 days did this, as well as 2011 and 2013. FIFA has always been blatantly opposite to this, even 14 NG, with the nature of the gameplay breaking any sense of immersion. It's a solid video game, but it plays nothing like football.

I'm not saying PES should become a full-on simulation, but they're not going to compete with FIFA on it's own terms so they need to offer a different product.

Sure. I want PES to be more of a simulation than FIFA. Most people do I would imagine. Konami shouldn't go too far down the simulation route, that's all I'm saying.

Games should be fun at the end of the day. Approachable, easy to learn, hard to master, addictive, rewarding, the 'one more game' factor - it's been said so many times but these are the things a great game is made of.

When condensing a 90 minute sport down to 10/15 minutes (which is how the vast majority plays the game), simulation only works up until a point.

The PC community on this very site didnt touch fifa even after it got finnaly ported to PC at FIFA 12....

Rubbish.

I played my nephew on FIFA 14 loads at Christmas after never playing FIfa for many years. I scored goals from all over the place with players doing all kinds of tricks. He was at mine before Christmas and never scored a goal in 5 games. I got no enjoyment out of any of the wonder goals I scored as they seemed easy And easily repeatable with little skill needed

FIFA is a shallow game, it always has been.PES has always given you a good feeling when you score a great goal as it needs practice

fully agree.:APPLAUD:

FIFA 08-10 on the PC where disgusting. FIFA 10 especially, unspeakable.

anyway. Played a Master League game, Everton vs Liverpool on top player.

Won 6-2!

I decided to play the very same fixture again in exhibition mode with heart turned off.

Finished 1-1

I think i'll leave it at that! Sums up the big issue why this game doesn't play like it does in training mode.

Seems like either patch 1.04 or 1.06 has toned down the amount of back-heel attempt quite significantly. Now it's pretty rare.

Now for the next patch they should reduce the effectiveness of rainbow flick and make CPU send at least one of their CB forward in set-pieces. I don't want to do this manually because every time a new datapack is released it will break the existing EDIT file.

The next patch really needs to sort out the issues with heart or just add a option to remove it from any offline game modes you enter. The game is actually very good when it's removed.

Above all this needs to be sorted right now!

i am going to post some of my gameplay tips when i have time but for now all i can say is dribbling for me is far too easy ryt now and the secret is R2 and right analog stick.
Holding the right analog stick in the direction you are sprinting will cause you to keep your speed without having to press R1 twice.
Pressing R2 before a volley will increase the accuracy of your volley resulting in better chances.
R2 is jst as important as R1 not just for close control but even for controlling the ball in many situations with varing degrees and accuracy for different players which is where individuality comes in.
Think of the right analog stick as an extension of your feet and combining with R2 gives you a better control over the ball in tight situations.
I am a big fan of the L1+O as it lets me pick out the farthest player for a header.
I do not know if people have discovered this but i can successfully guard a player when chasing a loose ball to cause the ball to go out for for a goal=kick, by pressing the the direction opposite to the run i am making i.e pressing the direction backwards instead of forwards while chasing a loose ball. To do this move you need a high calibre defender,John terry for example will pull it off easily. I tried it with pique today against rooney and although pique managed to do it, he was almost knocked of the ball.
These are tested facts and they do work, i am discovering more things everyday in the game e.g setting combination play on in your tactical setup as well as offside trap keeps your defensive shape and makes your teammate make the runs you have setup automatically.
Also i cannot seem to beat fulham on exhibition mode on superstar they play too much good football try it out

Also this been bugging me since the golden PS2 era. The CPU never play short free kick. They punt the ball long and center exclusively. Maybe the AI has to be compromised somewhere, but come on just add little bit variety at the back it won't hurt the game on any aspect.
