Guys, had the opportunity to play Next Gen Fifa, for me PES 2014's gameplay is definitely way better, game is more responsive, ball physics, collisions, game feels much more fluid.

I understand that PES 2014 has some serious gameplay flaws such as goalkeepers, Artificial Intelligence, response times should be better, graphically I find PES 2014 very good as well, played both games at 1080p (PES 2014 PC vs Fifa NG PS4).

Fifa's past and current gameplay flaw is that it feels scripted, ball does not feel as a real soccer ball. If Fifa does not fix or change that issue/feeling, I believe that PES can offer a better gameplay experience on the Next Gen platforms if Konami fixes all the bugs currently affecting PES 2014.

Playing PES 2014 with 1.06 patch, DLC 3.0, +1 Speed, Custom Long Camera.

I played Fifa 14 too on PS4 on Christmas day at a friend's place. I agree it feels scripted and its Fifa, meaning it always feels more arcadey. Its also very very fast paced and the ball seems to travel too fast. Sometimes on Pes 2014, the ball seems to travel too slow! I hope next year they can tweak it to make it better.
Fifa's keepers are better though and thats their advantages over PES atm.

Overall I think this new PES engine is much more promising than Fifa's new engine.

Is it true that deleting the installed data from the PS3 improves the framerate/stuttering (Close-ups when more than 3/4 people are on the screen)?

No. Last I've heard, the only fix for stuttering is having a pineapple with a tiny hat under your left arm while playing in front of a mirror facing your telly.

I am not a FIFA fan but the last few comments regarding next gen FIFA are just plain wrong.

PES2014 is nowhere near as responsive as FIFA. The actions in FIFA are nearly always instantaneous because it does not have realistic inertia, foot planting or physical movements.

FIFA set on normal or slow plays at a very realistic pace. PES on normal speed is too slow, which may have been affecting your judgement. Watch a real match then switch PES on, its too heavy and sluggish. After watching a real game I had to set the game speed to +2 to get the players moving at a comparable speed. The problem with this though is that the speed at which they sprint is not relative to the the speed that they otherwise move, its quite ridiculous.

I have played around 10 hours of FIFA and I have not seen anything that seemed scripted, at least not in the way I think of PES as being scripted. The ball is far more free than any football game from last generation. FIFA also has the randomness that PES has been missing for years. I scored a beautifully ugly goal because of this, pressuring the opposition into making a badly under hit pass, intercepted the ball then ran into the box and got bullied off of it, the CB then tried to spin 180 degrees and clear the ball, he missed the ball with his kick and fell over leaving me to shoot, it was saved but parried bouncing up near the penalty spot where my player out jumped 2 of the CPUs to head in.

As a whole I do not like FIFA and will be trading it in, but this next gen version is better at replicating football than last gen and it does a lot of things better than PES. I am very excited to see next gen PES though, if they can get the fox engine to play similarly to PES2013 but without the AI & physics restrictions then it will be very special.

FIFA is a decent game on the pitch, in spurts. It's not addictive though and ultimately humdrum. The ebb and flow, cut and thrust and feel of football still isn't there with FIFA. I think it's primarily due to the poor player and ball physics as well as the sense that every game and player feels the same, which is probably a coding/AI problem. The Keepers are great in FIFA though. PES has some issues but the pace, ebb and flow, cut and thrust and feel of football is still there, after all these years. PES needs to redo keepers though and improve the shooting.

I have been playing PES 14 solidly for the last few days.

Its a highly addictive game, but at the same time, I am not sure I like it that much after playing it.

The players are way to sluggish and have very poor control of the ball firstly. Secondly, the game doesn't always seem that realistic. I can keep the ball extremely well, getting up 80% possession but the other team can beat me 4-0 by just stealing the ball off me deep in my half.

I understand that its not all about possession, but if you are trying mirror the game then losing 4-0 to a team when you have 80% seems like total BS to me!

The players should be way more agile. Not necessarily faster as when they sprint they have speed but its when they are turning and moving, its awfully clumpy and unresponsive.

Hey guys i jst want to drop this here and say that presently I'm enjoying dribbling on pes 2014. It is a little harder than other pes games but when you get it right its sublime. Basically R2 is for controlling the ball in any given situation, konami made the default dribbling speed the new close control, the secret is basically combining both the R1, R2 and the right analog stick in certain situations its not easy to learn at first. I started with patch 1.01 was clunky but i started practicing and had about a 55% success rate in dribbling and started to get better and better learning how to anticipate a player's movement before dribbling was key in this process. Now i can confidently say after the latest gameplay patch i am seriously good at dribbling having a blast with hazard, ronaldo, ronaldinho tested for myself and they stand out. Learning how to dribble on patch 1.01 has made me a better dribbler i can beat players confidently because of footplanting in this game. Its like taking a player to an end and cutting back knowing fully well that the the player will take a while to recover, drawing a player to you with R2 and combining with R1 is jst sublime beats the grid dribbling of pes 2013 anyday. I admit it needs a tweak but i urge pple to try it out. Also if i might add i have had great success with this. Any time you have a ball bouncing in front of you and you have a player behind using a good player like hazard, messi, neymar pressing R2 will make the player flick the ball beside the markers body beating him before he can recover you have made away with the ball fantastic but sadly it is not in any of konami's tutorials . I urge everyone to try this out . Even the right analog stick helps with your balance when cutting in so you do not lose momentum

Totally agree with both off you guys. These are exactly my thoughts!

Where i agree with using R1 in the right moment is very nice along with getting the hang of dribbling, I strongly disagree strongly with the dribbling being good in 2014, it's the main problem with the game, payers at basic speed just move too slowly. It's a basic function put there by Konami waiting to be expanded upon, it's all the new features being out it. Best to do them slowly and safely for ow then expand later.

Players simply do not turn in real life like they do in PES 2014. A player does not take 2 sometimes 3 touches to turn as if they are nervous and scared on the ball. we all have played football here before and in training you will always receive 'two touch' drills to improve your movement on the ball and get you used to taking a touch then releasing, not dilly dallyng on it.

I like what Konami have done here with PES 2014 but it's clearly not fully finished and ready, it's slow because Konami want it to look realistic and with the new physics you can just expect the ball to be tied in with animation like in previous engines, you need it to be natural, since Konami unlike EA actually try to use their stats base and Simulate each player moving with the ball so depending on Foot frequency, foot accuracy, technique, explosive power/agility, weight and most importantly dribbling ability will simulate and drive how a player moves with a ball, not to mention stamina, form and this new heart whatever to add variables on top. Now what Konami have started with is making sure they get players to move around on the ball naturally with all these settings working, now to do that in just one year from scratch is fucking hard! people do not give Konami credit for this so to do it at such a slow speed seems to be the best safe option when you consider the amount of variables needed to be implemented.

Getting something to work is one thing, developing on it is an entirely different thing, something people haven't quite got their head around. Again developing a prototype model is one thing which can take say 3 months, developing that prototype is totally different and could take longer than another 3 months depending on the many factors needed to have been taken into consideration. This is the PS2 days anymore in 8 directions there is a lot more depth now, people just haven't payed any attention to since we sadly still have many people who don't want to move on a try new things and just want PES6, over and over again.

The problems come simply with the difference between moving normally and spiriting is simply to big! its also hurts movement off the ball massively, players either have to sprint and overrun or doddle into position, so players don't move enough in the short game and move too much in the long game. I'm seeing this in training mode by the way so it's a core issue, not a command ingame error etc... For example on PES 2011-2013 i would regularly use L2 Dribbling which is very underrated and is a key element to the game, in which you run very slightly slower than normally but have better ball control, you can weave past 2-3 players if you had a good dribbler, On PES 2014 this is totally useless because the player simply runs too slowly and doesn't turn sharply enough to perform it. I have a video called 'This was PES 2013' there was a Bryan Ruiz dribble where i beat 4 players using L2 dribbling which simply cannot be done on PES 2014, again it's too slow and players don't cut as sharply as needed.

I like this dribbling for me i see the plan next year for the game to return to players moving at the correct normal speed like shown in PES 2013 but this time i can see the movement having a beautiful organic linear movement system where if you move the left stick lightly so it stays more or less to the center, it moves like PES 2014, but move the left stick out to the edge like in PES 2015, the players run at the same speed as in PES 2013, which will free up the game more and add better movement all round to the game. Most importunity we will see a better transition between running speeds. The short passing game, setting yourself for long shots, dribbling at normal speed along with other aspect will automatically improve and you will still have slow speed dribbling like in PES 2014 for moving the ball around in tight spots and corners which where simply not possible before I that detail.

PES 2013 dribbling and movement in technology is far, far worse than PES 2014 but it's far better because it's a game that has been tweaked over years rather than just built in less than a year in a hurry and to a level where it works' but doesn't do much more. Going back to PES 2013, paying on 25/30 minutes Top Player or Superstar without any tools ruining the gameplay on PC is still very much the best football game for me. Also with this world cup patch i don't have to worry about the crappy offline odes too much :) The gameplay is a masterpiece for me. Just so dynamic!

i agree with you klash thats why i said in my post that it still needs a tweak. But im happy because as u said Konami wants to make it as natural as possible,im enjoying pes 2014 as i play mostly offline with friends. Pes 2013 well i do miss some animations from it especially that weighted pass animation for xavi that was on pes 2013 but missing from pes 2014 . fingers crossed for nextgen, i hope konami do not screw up. For me ryt now beating players is a joy

Konami are in the opposite position as in PES6/PES 2008.

They have a game which isn't quite ready for the PS3, but is already ready for the PS4 and they can already start their tweaking and development rather than playing catch up like they where before.

I can perfectly understand the negativity surrounding PES 2014 alone since there are things which simply aren't good enough. What i cannot understand all the negativity here for the future, it's just pure negative energy, the gaming universe is full of it, people are happy for about a month or so then they switch and become pissed off, unless they modify the game to fit their ego. This game is not PES 2008 or PES 2010 etc.. which needed a massively upgrade and overhaul. They are already ready for the next gen.

I don't see any of the issues we have sen with optimization problems for PES 2014 happening with PES 2015. Plain and simple. building something is different to tweaking. This year was just about getting everything to actually work! I also very happy with PES 2014's dribbling philosophy, it's the same as PES 2011-13, they really want to rebuild PES 2013 with better animations/physics etc... This is important because they have something to aim at.

I'd like Keepers to be like they where in PES 2013, obviously with better animations than before. I like how on that game you had your top class keepers who could make saves average keepers just couldn't, keepers had different personalities, some where good at saving but punched everything and where hit and miss, some where just solid. I remember distinctly in a Fulham ML, Gerrard scoring from 30 yards against me, he hit a shot which Stockdale on a blue got a hand to but let it in. I knew that if that was Buffon, if that was Casillas, that is a save. Another really big thing was body balance for Keepers, next to Keeper skills which below 80 he's very, very shaky. remember giving a Youth team keeper a go in a cup game and when i brought him out for corners their big strikers and center backs would just barge him out of the way compared to my normal first team keeper who too good command of his area.

konami are actually on the right track gameplaywise but they have a lot to do on nextgen. They need to produce a game that is worth its salt all round. Konami need to copy 2ksports because, if u look at how much progress that game is making all-round gameplay, presentation, commentary its so unreal, and they keep improving every year. I emailed adam bhatti and told him that if konami think they will win people over by gameplay alone then they have to be kidding me they need a presentation overhaul.I look back at pes history and see some really great stuff that should be added back into the game attack/defence level, showing a cutscene of a fan in the stands and many more. All they need to do is go back combine all these features together and add more features and we will have a great game.I am hoping for the best for pes 2015 nextgen power, adam bhatti and the new european studio should hopefully give us a complete product

Decided to try this out again hadn't played with the new patch so thought id give it another chance. Not sure if it's the patch or me going into it not expecting much but really enjoying it. Sure it's got problems and is basically a beta but they have an amazing base to build upon for next gen. The right stick is great in this game I find auto feint on better for this as well. Love the ball physics for passes they are perfect for me, shooting not so much still needs work.

Some things I want sorted for 2015

• Goalkeepers still need a lot of work(say this every year) but definitely improved since the patch

• Finesse shooting just doesn't work it acts like a secondary chip button

• Shooting outside the box needs more zip

• It seems impossible to shoot first time after a rebound from the keeper, the player always takes a touch before shooting can be very frustrating at times

• Crossing needs to be reprogrammed to make it more dynamic

Probably more but can't think off the top of my head.

Off the pitch the game has needed a huge overhaul for years. Possibly a rebrand. I think the issue with commentary is along with the presentation is licensed leagues and licensed teams. Konami are too restricted with what they can say. They could use some help from ESPN or Bt Sport or Eurosport whoever but until they secure for one the premiership licences the English commentary will always been mechanical.

Master League needs to go backwards to go forwards, Back to the Future. The best for Me was 2012, yes with the moaning players and all, i liked the team philosophy thing which meant you team developed around how you wanted to play. Iron out a few of the flaws and that is the way forward, also like in PES 2011/2010 more CPU transfers, i want teams looking different after 3/4 seasons, we need a 'rivalry' function to stop Casillas joining Barcelona and Xavi going to Madrid etc...

Master League:

2012 structure, 2010/2011 cpu transfers with rivalry system and a little more transparent info on how much money each club has. Also it needs the nice little pictures and features from 2009 such as club fans on away trips, pictures from matches which where in PES 2012/2011 etc..

• It seems impossible to shoot first time after a rebound from the keeper, the player always takes a touch before shooting can be very frustrating at times

I think this is down to what i said about the dribbling, the distortion between spiriting and normally jogging is too big, there isn't a natural flow, this causes a lot of first time shots and passes not to happen. In PES 2013 this was easy, i scored a few goals with a first time shot from a pull back for example.

Responsiveness is a factor also.

i have heard FIFA commentary several times mention the uefa champions league EPL is not the only league in the game . Infact if they do not talk about the epl they can talk about football history a lot needs to be done presentation-wise for nextgen

Needed to stop my 4 hour session with Napoli and needed to come say that this is the greatest pes gameplay to date barr non.

Why do so many hate it. Why?!

What does it matter Zee, your having fun, yeah the game feels like a beta because lets face it, it is but it's certainly not trash and there still a lot to explore.

Zee, fuck everyone else continue ripping shit up in Serie A with Napoli.

Also on NBA 2k presentation. my point personified.

YouTube - NBA 2K14 (PS4): Warriors at Clippers (CPU vs CPU)

The first 2 minutes, the Commentators barely speak about whats actually going on, it's all jargon!!! Everything is just long rambles about a players form last season in real life, PES just can't do that until it gets licences, no reason why PES can't provide graphical presentation like we see in NBA 2K in the future though :)

i dont agree klash there is no license governing how much a commentator can say about a player's history. Notice how before a game they pick out a player and talk about him till the game starts. This game actually has press conferences in career mode where u can choose your response and consequently your carreer path . I want that for Pes if its is jst about the licenses. Let Konami start it with the la liga or serie A
