Played a game online last night.

It was pretty humorous to be honest. At one stage I was left laughing to myself when some defender (who I wasn't and hadn't been controlling) stood about 25 yards behind the rest of the line playing somebody onside by quite some distance. Rogue AI.

What I'm sure about online is that everything falls apart when somebody touches the through ball. It works both in your favour and against it. I have my criticisms of PES 2014 and everything so I don't want to repeat myself but while offline disappoints me, the online mode actually perplexes me.

Does anybody here regularly play online?
 
I just pinched myself to see if I was asleep dreaming:
This game is so much better without the dlcs, so smooth and responsive. And the players feel and look nimble and fit. Controlwise this is just awesome.
If only the Ai were more of a challenge on top player, but at least it plays more varied.
 
The team mate AI on BAL was so bad I decided to cheat to help better my experience and man is it SICK!

I can't give you the exact edits but I basically edited Gudetti at Man City into myself. Bumped his stats. Not quite max but A LOT. A real substantial bump.

I did the same for all the major players on the team and 2 of the three Goalies.

Started a BAL. And it is THE ultimate experience. My AI players were passing back n forth. Back to the goalie. Goalie would mix it up between long punts and short returns. Mainly short. They'd pass me the ball when I was in space without me having to call for it.

VERY rarely they would do silly things.

We played Inter in the pre season and won 3-2 on a 30 minute superstar match.

The bump in stats forced the opposing AI to play smarter due to the spaces being well covered.

The bump in stats don't make it a boring 10-0 win for you like you'd expect. The game is ridiculously even and well paced. I could never go back to default player stat BAL after this. The old was a slog. This is heaven and infinitely more fun. They play like real footballers with the stat boosts. I recommend it to anyone tired of the frustration a normal BAL can be.

i agree with you 110%, been saying this a while back like a broken record, this game is at its very best when no DLC's or modified option files are installed in this game, without all those add ons, u do see player individuality and a better game overall and slowdown is not there on single player but its still there when playing with mates , once u insert dlc's and modified option files for some reason it has detrimental effects on CPU AI individuality and the rest, its really weird and its not placebo, but for me now im over the game, only cause there are no game modes for me to get into, and the master league this year is very boring and dull actually its pretty disgusting what they have done with it am so disappointed but im grateful that fifa14 NG plays are really good game for once and have been playing that heaps lately im very impressed, fifa14 tho on CG is shit period.

Cool, thanks! Yeah the Low shoot modifier for heading can be really useful. Actually a high ranked player (755 or something like that) smashed home a really beautiful goal against me with Zlatan, never seen that before. From far out, high up in the right corner with the keeper unable to reach, looked superb. Also, fun to play against someone who is highly ranked but tries to play real football...(yeah I'm looking at you high through ball Messi/Ronaldo- spammers...):YAWN:
 
I just found a sweet spot and I'm really enjoying the game right now.
I play with Cursor Change on Semi-Assist, 1 bar of Pass Support, basic shooting and Auto Sliding activated.
Game speed at -1 and I've increased Defense Prowess and Shooting Power by 40% for all the players.
Before each game set Offside trap to on and the results are surprising, everything on the pitch moves naturally and looks extremely realistic.
 
I think I've just found my sweet spot too. I have started playing using the Blip camera setting and it is the most i have enjoyed it so far.

I was only playing on Regular though as i haven't played much since i bought it. But even on Regular i was quite impressed by the CPU movement. The good thing about Blip is that you can see the movement of the players better. The only problem is i have to take the players names off the screen otherwise i can't see what's going on. If only there was the option of having the names at the bottom like the classic PES.

Anyways over the weekend i will crank up to the next level and see how i get on.
 
Played some more, without the DLC's it's just great!

The CPU AI finally plays varied again and not always this repetitive play to the wing and make that pass to the post, every time, again and again, that the CPU AI tends to when the DLC's were on it.

It's so good that I even reduced the passing bar from 2 to 0 again and it's good, because the game is way more responsive without the DLC's and so zero bar is actually enjoyable.

The goalkeeper though is still a problem, he often lets in certain shots from close range that I would have expected him to parry somehow.

But I can't repeat enough: Get rid of the DLC's and start the game afresh, the DLC's ruined the game.

-first: oh the game is unplayeble at this moment, but patch will make it awesome
-then: patch(or dlc) comes out, everybody is dissapointed, nothing is fixed, people aren't even sure what has changed for better or worse
-finally: hey guys the game is so much better without patch

well if you really want to enjoy the game you should play without the patches of the last 6 years --> aka play PES6 !

No, I'm only talking about the DLCs.

I play now with patch 1.04 but without the DLCs and it's imho way more responsive and the CPU AI plays more varied.

Only the goalkeeper remains problematic.

So my advice is to delete the DLCs but keep patch 1.04.
 
just dont buy the freaking thing. its time konam,i was taught a lesson instead of releasing shite games.
i myself this year have voted with my wallet.

Don't know what it is with evo-Web. Pes 2014 is a good game and in areas much better. I would stop buying football games altogether if there wasn't an alternative.

Physics, animations and individuality are leaps and bounds ahead on PES

Fifa folks are so forgiving to their brand that I was left scratching my head as to what Konami need to do.
 
Has anyone tried playing on 480p? (console users) it's feels a lot more responsive and fluid to me. Be cool if someone gave it a go and dropped their thoughts.

For starters, a deep master league mode would be nice, proper scouting for starters, would enhance the longevity of the mode, it took one year to take away features and just add the ability to manage countries seriously dude, what were the rest of the team doing, if they were all focusing on the engine i would understand, but they would have different teams for parts of the game, to me thats an insult to us devoted pes fans especially having to pay top dollar for a broken game, this years ML is very boring in the history of pes, we are in the year 2014, i would understand if it was made 10 years ago. i do agree the game plays better with just the latest patch, add modified option files and dlcs and the game starts to play like fucking shit, but u get tired of playing the game after while, when the achievements are very very limited. mate in the end im on your side, i want this game to be great and i cannot wait for it to become king again. i thought it was king when i started playing it but unfortunately its no where near atm.

To be fair it's not just Evo Web. The game is getting slated on every forum going.

Good for you if you're enjoying PES, but how you can say physics, animations and individuality are leaps and bounds ahead absolutely baffles me. I'm not gonna start discussing NG FIFA here but seriously, I mean seriously, PES 2014 is so unrealistic. Awful one dimensional AI, the same goals scored over and over again, all teams play exactly the same way, long shots virtually never work.

I think it was Chimps who commented a while ago that he'd done four seasons of Master League and in all that time he'd managed around four headed goals and one from long range. In four seasons. Every othe goal scored in his entire ML was from a one-v-one slotted past the keeper.

Realistic that, isn't it.

Let's see, 2 days many many games and I recall 1 free kick. 1
But do you see people going bat shit crazy?

Physics, animations, individuality and add dribbling and tactical depth to that list.

Strange, I get way more free kicks than that, I'd say more than I got on PES2014. And I hardly think having a low free kick total is as big a problem as NEVER being able to score any type of goal other than slotting past and on rushing keeper. It's nowhere near the same level of bad game design. It's miles away.

As for the rest, totally disagree, sorry. Particularly regarding individuality and tactical depth. The AI in PES does the exact same thing, with all teams, with the same passing lanes, same through balls, same chips to the wings, same passes to the near post etc. There's no variety to have to counteract. And player individuality between games is now on a par I'd say. In fact I prefer it on FIFA because players have noticeably different first touch.

But that's just my opinion, I'm glad you enjoy PES, I wish I still was and that I hadn't ended up selling it feeling ripped off for the money I lost on the game. Anyways I'll stop it with the FIFA comparison before Lami gets mad :P

Agree with You. My sig tell everything :)) I play a lot Fifa NG on PS4 and it's not true that is superb game. Of course modes, online, graphics, atmosphere etc are awesome but gameplay is not so good. Pes 2014 on PS3 has a lot of better things in gameplay than Fifa 14 on PS4.

Pes 2014 has better some animations

Pes 2014 has better pace

Pes 2014 has better headers animations

Pes 2014 players have better body balance

If they use power Fox Engine on PS4 to change the graphics,make decent atmosphere and rework keepers Pes 2015 will be superb game. I totally disagree with people who saing that Fifa 14 NG is awesome and Pes 2014 is bad. It's not true. It's my opinion.

Agree with alot of your comments

I am not saying that PES is perfect and that FIFA is garbage.

I am saying PES fans are hectic. Lastnight I went online with a mate and we couldn't get a game in because the servers were down. Had it been PES this thread would be 4 pages longer filled with hate and resentment. It's truly bizarre and I don't get it.

Remember league gate as well? This place went insane. For fifa 14 NG EA left out tournament mode, in its entirety and people don't seem too perturbed

We can hook up online for a bout or two. Mind I am absolute garbage at fifa but it would be cool for shits and giggles
mind it may be that thing that swings the pendulum entirely towards fifa.

What can I say for sure about PES 2014 is : visitors on PES forums are 50% (and decreasing) as they were last year at this time... and that's a real fact. With this rate 20-30% maybe will be untill next release. Some pes forum had cca 1000 online in may-june-august and they have 600 online now cca...

PES team have to concentrate on AI for pes 2015. It's obviously that pes 2014 has the same or at least very similar AI as pes 2012 & 13 which for me is not good.

They changed their engine but the game except from collision system and some new animations feels and plays like pes 2013. Same passing and shooting system, same CPU built-up play, bad stamina system. Things that i don't like in the game.
 
Personally I don't get how people can play FIFA. PES 14 has some flaws. Huge gaping head scratching, almost game breaking flaws. Goalkeepers. I don't care what anyone says, they are, or at least bordering on GAME BREAKING.

Every game you can concede a goal which just makes you want to turn the game off. Balls clipping through hands, through body's. Punching the ball into their own net in that 1 spot where it's a 9 out of 10 chance it's going in the back of the net and you FEEL it coming.

All the other stuff for offline can wait. THE KEEPERS NEED FIXING. Point blank period they are BROKEN and an utter nightmare for anyone who prides himself on keeping clean sheets only to loose them through absolutely no fault of your own.

BUT...

If they fix that 1 thing. This game on the field is leaps and bounds ahead of Fifa CG. Weight, passing finesse, AI in terms of life like ball retention. The pace of the game. It's measured, it's frantic, it's technical.

How Pes is predictable compared to FIFA baffles me.

FIFA has herky jerky twitchy hyper sensitive zombies who turn on a dime and break you down using cheap tactics implemented by the code to hinder you as a way to "increase the difficulty"

Nothing besides the presentation represents football in FIFA 14 compared to PES 14. Anyone who has grew up obsessivly playing and watching football can tell you that.

PES 14 has it's problems. But it goes so far to representing the game of football and it's subtleties. It's a flawed genius. But despite those flaws. I keep coming back. FIFA is just effeciant robotic casual accesabillity.

Also there is nothing wrong with the AI. The problem is the stat distribution is to low. The players need a significant boost in neglected areas.

Ronaldo had a form of 4 or 5 for example. Oversights like this are everywhere.

So if we change and distribute stats in a good way the AI will work fine?

That's right. The only thing holding the AI back are 2 things.

The Datapack DLC causing them to play in predictable patterns.

The poor stat distribution.

You can't tell me that world class players having a form of 4 out of 8 is correct. You can't say that this doesn't play a factor, unless you want to tell me that player attributes are nothing but window dressing.

You've got players like Gareth Barry with the same OVR as Mario Gotze. Theirs very little, if ANYTHING separating the very average players from the world class players any top team would give their left arm to have playing for their team. And there are TONS of these players with their attributes completely out of wack.

I know. I went through them all over a few hours bumping the stats of each teams key stand out players (Including every starting keeper maxing all the vital GL stats.. But unfortunately THEY are unsaveable... Wahey!)

Accomplished Players like Messi Ibra Ronaldo Suarez Cavani and the likes are now at a round 105 OVR while players like Gotze, Rooney, Kagawa, Matta are hovering around 100 OVR. With the barrys giggsys ect hovering at their original stats.

Lowering the over rated players isn't the issue. It's raising the special players in their key strengths to make them stand out. Thats the solution.

As a result you get players who are much more aware of their surroundings. Not making nearly as many stupid jogging pace runs, holding up the ball better, picking out the player in space. More attempts outside the box (Def and Att Awareness). More zip on their shots leading to goals.

These at a key part. It just needs you to invest the time. The AI is there. It just needs a push in the right direction. Some world ass ayers had SHOCKINGLY low Def/Att awareness handed to them amongst many other stats.

Just raise any yellow orange or red Atts by 10. And some other minor adjustments if you feel they need them.

As a result Andros Townsend and Baines are starting for England Llana is in the squad ect. Ravel Morrison gets called up Danny Sturredge is a beast supporting a super consistent Suarez ect ect ect....Like they should be but the in edited vanilla doesn't allow this. It has positive effects across the board.
