I said fuck it and rolled it back to version 1.0.

The game plays miles better on Superstar. The AI is mixing it up, retaining possession when needed. Not running into Brick Walls or hitting the near post from the wings for the full 90 minutes.

If you're playing with the updates you're really missing out. This isn't a placebo. The difference is night and day.

I'm playing on patch 1.05 but without DLC and enjoying it.

Before you roll it back I suggest moving all your OF files to a USB just to be safe. I don't wanna be responsible for anything going wrong for you when (IF) you go back to re update.



Secondly. I wanna make it clear I'm on 360. I see your on PS3 and it's well documented that the PS3 version suffered from a lot of problems which didn't effect the 360. (If I'm to believe what I've read on various pes forums) So just bare that in mind.


But honestly, I can't believe how good this is. Certain passing animations are back in giving a much more life like quality.

I think they removed them in order to fix the "lag" which tbh the out the box feels better to me. You just have to plan your attacks and inputs. It's silky smooth to me.

I also think they made the keepers worse. With the updated version (no word of a lie) I would either concede or score a lame goal due to some derpy 1 on 1 or near post goalkeeper action, every game.

Don't get me wrong, problems are still there in the original with goalies but since rolling back goalies have *GASP* ... Made quick consecutive saves at close range. It's a lot more heart in mouth and not because you feel you're about to get screwed. But because it captures those nearly moments and scrapes the goalie gets your team out of.

I just got done playing Bayern with Klashmans tactics on superstar. I won 1-0 (30 minute game)both teams had around 8 shots and 6 on target.

I did this on the updated version and Bayern were just going for broke from the first second and by the end both teams had over double the amount of shots due to the tedious and predictable fast break/counter attack nature of the AI.

I played PSG with default tactics and there was only a slight difference.

They nailed it on the pitch out of the box and out cry forced their hand into totally botching what they were aiming for, and NAILED.. for the most part. Now it's just a slog of a mess due to the updates.

Actually on the 360 I'm having the opposite experience on patch 1.04 and the DLC. Out of the box it felt very smooth and had no stutters or whatever but after the patch it does. Weird.

I thought the latest patch/update was 1.04.

Tbh I noticed the issues when the very first update came out. I couldn't DL a data pack due to the xbox shambles. So experimented with updating, playing, clearing cache, playing ect since something felt so off on the field.

The only reason I updated last month was to play online (laggy, nobody in 11 v 11 lobby's) and to get the face pack.

But the cosmetic update just wasn't worth the hassle on the field.

I just think it's a case of if you tinker with 1 thing you effect something else as a result. That and the ancient hard wear of current gen not being able to support the game. I don't KNOW the reason. But something went wrong with the updates, that's for sure. And with Konamis reputation, is it really that surprising? Lol. I don't think so.

Besides intros, replays and UI. (UI's still iffy though) That's what I'm saying. The Playing jumpers for goal posts part is great out of the box.

Guys, IF I was to get 2014 on console which is the best - Xbox or PS3? I heard that the PS3 had graphics issues and lag, us this true? Also which looks better and plays better, or does it not matter?

U mentioned 1 facet. individuality in 2014 is deep depending on how you play or what style you employ
 
Hi guys! Any tips for scoring long rangers? I'm playing basic shooting (but use manual L2+square from time to time). Is it possible even? Or just rare? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm playing online ranked matches and I have come to the point where I almost don't even try long shots. I like that it's hard but as of now almost impossible. Scored 1 goal from far out with Hulk that the keeper pushed in himself, looked ok but felt more like a goalie mistake than a very good shot.
 
I wish player attribute edits and team gameplan edits would work in a ML or BAL when I load it up from a game save. Just like Kit, name and stadium edits.

This way I wouldn't have to back out, make edits and start a fresh every time team and player tendencies are wrong. I could break up the tedium of editing by.... Actually Playing the game. These aren't online modes, they aren't behind a micro transaction wall like 2k. I payed for the game, allow me to edit the game to my tastes.

If I roll back to 1.0, do you know if it is still possible to play online with someone that also has the same version?
 
Maybe the big DLC botched things up regarding team tactics. Wil try to get rid of the DLC and see if patch 1.04 without the DLCs is good.
 
Has anyone noticed the camera is different online than offline?

I think its since the last update, I use the default settings (Wide, 1, 10, 7). Offline is still the same, but online in any stadium, the camera is more straight and not at an angle. I could tell imminently looking at the nets.

Hi, I'm not a master but have just scored a few long range shoots. First of all, you have to smash the power, max or almost max. Then, before the player hits the ball, you should press the "LOW shoot modifier" button. This button is very useful for bouncing headers too.
 
I read that PES gaming link and the OP of that thread, it's amazing that an entire console generation later, every one of the OP's points of complaint are still valid today.
 
Why did Konami even waste time on adding 11 Vs 11?

They can't even get 1 Vs 1 right. What idiot thought getting another 20 players in the same game was a legit possibility?

They should be fixing the game and fixing the game only until enough people are satisfied enough to play before adding features like this that are doomed from the get go.

It's funny how people, including myself, regard PES5 as the best of the series and yet there were so many complaints about it. People complaining about wrong team names. Now, we just accept that we have to edit or patch it. But will PES2014 be a classic like PES5? In a word... NO!

I tried to play it a couple of days ago but i still can't get on with it for whatever reason. :(
 
Just deleted all dlc datapacks on my xbox 360 for pes 2014 and boy does it play smoother and more responsive.

Lol, it's like the game doesn't mesh well with all the content added. And the tactics aren't so strangely set up, defensive lines are set normally...

Players make first time shots when I tell them to shoot because of the way better responsiveness.

I have let 1.04 patch to remain and only deleted the dlcs. After that I had to set up the game like I just biught the game.
 
Played a game online last night.

It was pretty humorous to be honest. At one stage I was left laughing to myself when some defender (who I wasn't and hadn't been controlling) stood about 25 yards behind the rest of the line playing somebody onside by quite some distance. Rogue AI.

What I'm sure about online is that everything falls apart when somebody touches the through ball. It works both in your favour and against it. I have my criticisms of PES 2014 and everything so I don't want to repeat myself but while offline disappoints me, the online mode actually perplexes me.

Does anybody here regularly play online?
