PES 2014 Discussion Thread

Sorry again for jumping from topic to topic, but why is PC section separated from this thread? X360/PS3/PC versions of the game are the same no?

Everything is fine with shooting power? I can assure you it's far from it.

I also saw videos of people claiming they scored from long range. Sadly, most of those attempts wouldn't be even considered long range in current world of football.

Most of those are scored from just behind the goal area (~20 yards) out. That is close range. Even normal person, can hit ball hard enough to beat GK. Tested in real life with friends who NEVER play football. 22-25 yards out is slightly further out, but in PES 2014 still the ball will be hit hard enough for it to reach goal. There is no problem with shooting from specific range. Up to 25-26 yards out, shoots will be powerful enough. Here I find no problem.

However, try shooting from OUTSIDE that range. For example being half way after kick off line. That's 30-40 yards out. Sure, if I am honest, I can see maybe 6-8 goals like that scored in WHOLE football season all around the World, but it DOES happen.

If you fill FULL power bar from 40 yards out with Lampard/Gerard (players who really can hit ball hard in real life), the ball... Won't even reach the goal. It will just fall down in the area. Try it and post videos.

To show what I mean:

YouTube - R.Carlos long range rocket top corner !!! HD [PES6]

Here is video from PES6 showing exactly what sort of shooting I miss.

As we are still here, I find PES 2014 through balls passing being... Very random and control of it is not really in your hands by decided by AI.

I want to have control where my ball goes, but sadly, even on Advanced it is... Random. You really are not in total control when playing through balls. Anyone felt the same way? I was bound to put it in Cons yesterday, but forgot.

EDIT:

Why aren't PC users getting 20 stadiums like on PS3? There is only 19! (well, 18 because 19 is Random).

@zeemeister

You need to realize that "individuality" can be perceived differently between people.

Stats based system is something I don't call individuality nor are the player cards.

Callejon can do same type of moves Di Maria can, they even have same passing, crossing, shooting animations (with preferred foot difference). We know this shouldn't be the case and that there should be traits/animations only available to certain players.

It's like imagining putting yourself on the pitch. If you play football it's even easier to explain. There are things you're good at, things you're bad at, you know your weaknesses and strong points. You know what type of pass you can pull of and what not. You know what you see on pitch and not. It's not like you could play perfect through ball from defense to attack and attacker will score goal. That doesn't really happen in real world that often (it's more like lucky hoof that reaches the attacker).

I watched tons of Brescia games when Salamon was playing for them. He is one of defenders who has pinpoint accuracy when it comes to LONG passing. Trust me he can pass the long ball with accuracy of Pirlo.

Sadly, in PES, any defender can do that with ease I find. It's a matter of perception. For me, the best how individuality was presented, was in PES3-6 era. Still don't know how they did that, but I come back to play those PS2 games from time to time and spend hours on them.

The magic to keep you occupied is still very strong factor in those games, despite graphics being scandalously bad and AI not being that great now. Heh, sentimental or not, KONAMI should look back and remember that once they made games which not only were fun, action packed, but at the same time, realistic and very tactical. New PESes are a mix of good ideas here and there, messed by bad production and wrong ideas getting implemented at the end.

Sorry, for another long post.

Are you assuming I didnt/dont play real football?

Also you talking about PES 6 - that games was terrible imo body balance you could walk the length of the pitch and shoot from anywhere with Carlos, Adriano and company.

Also this is a brand new engine konami are still trying to get faces right. How can you expect player specific animations?

I wonder how a game like Pes5 would be recieved these days. People have too little time to play but enough time to moan and everyone is an expert.

Agree with this, don't bother Rob.

It's an unfinished game with too many issues to ignore. The clunkiness of PES2013 is still there which becomes evident with extended play. It doesn't feel like a new engine underneath the bonnet.

There is undoubted potential for the future but I'm not sure Konami are competent enough to realise it.

I also didn't get the game yet and I intend to skip this year. I don't know what happened, but I kinka lost my excitment for football games. This is probably the first year that I won't buy any.

I'll wait for a nextgen version of pes 2015 on PS4. Fifa world cup could be on my list as well if it really looks like a nextgen title.

It seems that PES 2014 lacks good content to keep you interested, and the gameplay still resembles PES 2013 in some aspects (like not feeling full control when you need it). The fact that the game is always being patched on gameplay shows that is not a finsihed, solid product.

Alright lads?

Has anyone heard any speculation about new stadiums? I've been hoping for a few to be released in a DP. I'm sure Bhatti tweeted something about La Bombonera coming at some point but I haven't read anything for a while.

Cheers

Yeah you might need this

I dont know where do you guys take that "insane pressure" of CPU after the patch? I dont see any change with what was before.

Of course you are pressured all over the pitch if you have Front line pressure slider higher than 15 for CPU (which happens with Quick Counter strategy), but it has to be this way.

This engine does make realistic face ultra realistic, but at the same time making funny face extra funny. I guess it has to do with the increase number of polygon and other details.

Need to be more attentive to the details than usual. You can tell which faces are the result of diligence and which is not.

Konami killed PES 2014.

pre patch it had hallmarks of a great game despite the bugs it felt right and was feeling more of a sim

Post patch and its just a speed fest where the best players ststistically are pointless unless they have pace.

What a terrible idiot proof game. Clearly adapted to appeal to players who just want quick fix goals.

I have question to people who knows something more about online. Can somebody explain me why KONAMI have problems for 6 years in online. I mean LAGS, LAGS AND fukin LAGS! I don't have any problems when i play different games! like BF, Cod, Fifa etc What's goin on? They have old servers? Nobody can do something with this shit? In Pes 6 everything working properly. It's unbelievable how game in 2013 have still lags! Lags and different pace online. Sometimes pace in game is very slow, in another day pace is very fast. What is goin on? MR. Bhatti ask community about boots? Faces? He dosen't know about unplayable online because LAGS are still in game? Since Pes 2008 they have problems with lag! 6 yeras? unbelievable....

Peer to peer. Konami does not have enough money for dedicated servers. Have you played LAN games many years ago? It's like that except with people very far away. Majority of the online games i've played uses dedicated servers; the few games which was p2p kinda sucked as well.

I play Winning Eleven 2014 Japan version and online works great, fast, responsive, same as offline matches, no lags.

How do servers come into play in PES? I'm not familiar with the technology. If it's strictly p2p, what's the point of having different "servers"? Those who bought the US/Americas version cannot play with other players who have the EU version, because from what I understand, the game comes "locked" to a region specific server?

- Europe
- N./S./C. America
- Japan
- rest of Asia

Lami, what does "no essays" mean? I'm trying to keep it concise, but I like to detail what the problem is and improvements that can be made so whoever gets the feedback has a better understanding of what I'm stating. I think stuff like "shooting needs to be improved" is incredibly abstract.

Sorry I meant I wanted it in bullet-points and straight to the point as can be without making it essay-like.

Whoever submitted their feedback, thanks a lot. All has been collated and sent and we can hope for the best.

So tired of all the negativity here - I've been a member of this site for over 7 years and have played every PES version since International Superstar Soccer on Super Nintendo. Some have been good, some have been bad and some have been glorious. That said I can honestly say that PES 2014 is the best incarnation of the game I have played. It feels like football and you have to 'think' about the way you play. These days it seems most want a game where they can play like Ronaldo or Messi without having to do much work to get to that point.
The complaints on here about 2014 are bordering on ludicrous in regard to CPU pressure, long range shots, defending, goalkeeping etc...
People say it isn't realistic, but then in the next breath complain because they can't score 40 yarders at will. Anyone who's actually pulled on a pair of boots will tell you that they can count on one hand the amount of 40 yard screamers they have put into the top corner in a real game. They are so memorable because they do not happen every week.
Defensive pressure is too much and I can't dribble around the entire defence and score - I see that on forums all the time...
Adjust the tactics of your opponents - that's what the option is there for! The whole game is designed to be tailored to each users preference. If you can't be bothered to do it then your probably more suited to playing the football equivalent of NBA Jam.
Through all the years I've played football video games (I'm 42 btw) I always hoped that someone, one day would make a game where I actually had to think, plan and execute moves to a degree of skill to actually mirror what happens on a real football pitch and this, for me, is the closest thing to date. What annoys me the most though, is that so called fans ask for more realism and when they get it they complain that it's too hard or they can't be bothered or worse still slag off the company that gave them exactly what they asked for initially.
Now I agree when the game was released it was a mess, and I even agree that it shouldn't have taken so long to fix with the patch, but come on guys, since the patch the game is a joy to play if you forget everything you learned from previous versions and relearn the controls properly. It's not a game of ping pong, it's not gymnastics and it's not about firing 40 yarders in from every ridiculous angle.
It's football, it's realism, it's skill, it's touch...it's the beautiful game

End of rant :-)

It is a fine game......at times. When i play for two or three games at a time, i love it. When it plays smooth and fluid it's brilliant. Its when i play longer than 3 games at a time is where the game suddenly starts running in slowmo mode. This is offline. The same thing happens online too.

It's not acceptable. I have never had this problem with any other pes.

So. I see from the wenb feedback thread that this patch still hasn't fixed the ML regen issue where players are reborn at 16 with the stats they retired with :(

I don't think there is any real technical reason besides connectivity, latency, culture and language issues. For peer to peer; the closer the players are in the general area, the less lag they have. For dedicated servers, it's more of a case of 'place server closer to the consumer for less lag' kinda thing. Its not only PES that segregates online, there are many mmo's that segregrate online into different areas; the most common split being Europe/America.

Agreed, even though I'm more an online player. It's not just the detailed touches and movement in gameplay. The tactics really does change the way the game plays out. I'm still messing about with tactics, but there has been games when I played online, I was down 3 and had a difficult time leaving my half, but switching through a bunch of tactics I was able to come back and score 3. I've never been able to feel this amount of difference from the game plan in previous years. When your tactics are vulnerable, there's not even enough room for you to breathe. But when you get your tactics right, suddenly you're dominating the pitch.

Seems to work against all styles of players (slow buildup, or longballs, speed merchants). I'm not saying I can stop all of them, but the fact that not all longballers or all speed merchant players or all double pressure players can successfully tear me down, makes me think there's always an answer for this in gameplan. Just a thought.

Thanks for explaining. I think in the past, PES used to indicate the connection quality of a host? I don't seem to see that in PES14 anymore.

Is it true that in p2p gaming, the host experience less lag? I've hosted games where I felt an incredible amount of lag, but it seemed like the other person was playing fine.

The game has improved substantially after the patch, but as other users here, I noticed quite a jump in CPU pressure and tackle success. For the worse.

All CPU teams can now pressure me like there's no tomorrow and worse of all, their tackling success has been upped to the point that they can disposses even my skilled midfielders, when before the patch I could keep ball possession much easier in the midfield and wouldn't be dispossessed by ANY CPU player if I was protecting the ball with my skilled players.

In my oppinion, the game has got a bit FIFAesque right now where pace and physicality are more important than skill. I loved the balance between physicality and skill before the patch. That's the only real negative I have about the game right now, because I'm loving it in short sessions during the week and I've found there's a lot more unpredictability and I've seen things I had not seen in my previous 2 Master league runs.

End of rant :-)

this post should be a sticky in this forum i´m with you mate well sayed
