Took some time in exhibition mode vs the COM teams, to redo all my formations (coz none of them behave the same post-patch).

Went online to play 1 match. First impression is:

......MY LAWWWD. This game works now. So robust. I had dominance using manual vs non-manual user. 68% vs 32% possession. Also drew 1 red cards and 3 yellows. Didn't score any but the passing, shooting, dribbling, defending was excellent. Hopefully it's not just a random occurrence.

No noticeable lag, might have to do with the fact that my opponent was from US. Might have to try some games with players further away.

Yet to play with through ball spammers and double pressure spammers and the like. Not sure how the game holds up against players like those.

What do u mean exactly? I feel like the R-stick is far more effective in dribbling, not for doing tricks, but just for shielding/protecting the ball in general.

I don't know about defending, I rarely use physical pressure (you mean the R-stick shirt tugging right?). Plus the teams/players I use are too fragile to make this effective.

I can only say how Rewarding my play session was this morning. The improvements are very noticeable, I know some people are saying otherwise but at the end of the say people will only see what they want to see.

The game is still far from perfect and there are plenty of Bugs and issues that need looking at but they've made it playable for a couple of weeks at least! Will see how these impressions last in the long run

4th game online and it went into slowmode. I did not imagine it.

Bullshit, bullshit and bullshit. If You don't see any difference in shooting we cant speak anymore. Control feels exactly the same? Bullshit. Players feels much more responsive and it's feels to have better control. Shooting is much, much better and now i can strike where i want. It's not only about powerful. Of course ball physics is better because before the patch ball physics feels like balon but now is heavier. I didn't notce any slowdowns. Game feels much solid in all aspects

I agree with what you have said. Sadly it does not stay this way. If it did i would be happy.

Seriosly guys im desperate...how can i perform strong shots(advanced) because knuckle shot doesnt ment to be power shot, and how can i use through pass(advanced) because every through pass is random, it picks sometime the farest and sometime the closest player and its power doesnt seem to be affected by the powerbar even if i press it for a mli sec it will go halfway of the field even tho i desired for 2-3 meters....??????

Don't use the advanced setting for shooting and passing. They don't work properly.

- superstar level NOT working
- advanced shooting,passing NOT working
- they fixed the defence but every match and team feels the same because they use "long ball" or "possession" or "quick counter" tactic for every team in the game rather setting up something real tactic for the teams, not to mention that "combination play" is essential for the game to be immersive and IT IS NOT SET ON by defeault
- NO stadiums, NO stadium editor included ...alright licencing issues, still buying this BUT why not they build some generic ones with the editor and included as defeault stadiums?
- NO rain...was no time for that? for sure...
- NO snow... SINCE 2007!
- NO base copy...wait it is present now BUT ONLY FOR CREATED PLAYERS
- NO "community mode"....taken out...ok lets play Konami league...taken out
- And im still too naiv to dream about "live rosters", updated every monday with actual form arrows for Online and Exhibition modes



It seems like:

- V1: Konami doesnt give a fuck
- V2: Konami does care, thats proven by Adam's presence BUT there are still UTTERLY IDIOTS in the development section or/and in the top managment
- V3: Konami does care, thats proven by Adam's presence BUT they simply dont have the resources to have all the above mentioned things included in the game
(i dunno how much money and effort would it take to have a few students for less money to do the live rosters for every weak)


pick one version, one of them is true, and no matter wich one PES future is doomed anyways...


and my personal opinion is that im sick and tired that the customers(modders) have to work with the game to be finished kind of i mean...it would still worth it if the gameplay would be mindblowing like "back then" but i have to say other the product's gameplay is really fine, sure has it flaws but compared to PES ...yes i must say the whole game is better, and this good patch by Konami doesnt make any difference YET

Hmm I need more time with it but I was talking about using it for shoulder charging/putting the opponent off balance. It wasn't really working for me.

I saw that review from the WEBN guy Jett the other day, and his mini review after the patch, and I'm inclined to agree with him. It might be the worst PES ever. Look beyond the flashy animations and the game just feels empty, like the PES magic has gone. I have no inclination to wade through a ML because the prospect of all those games doesn't sound fun. The same build ups, the same COM behaviour, the same types of shots and goals, the same weaknesses rearing their heads over and over. It's all so predictable.

I used to think fifa was shit, because yeah it is. FIFA 14 is actually not as shit as you think. I'm so pissed off with konami that there last update has done nothing really.

When pes 2014 plays nice and smooth and fluid it's pure class. When the slowmo mode kicks in , it's a disaster.

So basically pes 2014 is shit and fifa 14 plays supremely better online and offline.

I didn't think I ever would be saying that, and for the record believe me I'm gutted deep down.
My ps4 and FIFA 14 will tide me over until konami get their acts together.

Hey lami problem I was having after I downloaded the patch, the game was playing too quick and after I uninstalled the data from my HDD it played better , looks like everyone is having different experiences. This game can be great but atm it's in bit of mess like when I play first couple of matches it plays well then all those annoying bugs make an intermittent appearance.
It's a frustrating experience.

Like someone else already mentioned it seems there's a memory leak and the system needs a restart. Reminds me of another game that had a similar issue.

played one match on PS3 after download- had not touched the PS3 version since day of purchase. I don't see any real improvements. The game is still soulless and joyless. A chore to play. Not fun. Not realistic. AI continues to fast break every chance they touch the ball- no variety. The AI double teams every single guy I have on ball the entire match- The AI strikers are fantastic defenders- which isn't quite how footie tactics work….. this game is a mess. I stand by my video that WENB was courageous to post. are there some fixes? yes. but it still is hands down the worst pes ever. No if, ands, or buts. Slow down still present. ball physics feel awful.

In retrospect Konami should have tweaked 2013 with some upgrades and put that out. they could have been working on NG 2015 instead of spending resources on the worst video football game in history and then trying to make it better. as far as video games and football go this is an absolute joke.

It's cool but still an opinion. Some people relies heavily on other people input, especially from like-minded person. But if that makes them feel better, so be it.

I still stand by my stance, if you don't like the game from the beginning, there's no amount of patch that can make you change your initial take. Or unless you're quite a forgiving kind. The patch is not a 'magic wand'.

sounds more like a premonition than a preview. My sources from beyond the grave say it sucks. but then my other source from beyond the grave said its great you just have to learn how to play it. I'm so confused.

All jokin aside. I do agree that when konami realized it wasn't going to be able to release the game in the best possible playing condition on these consoles they should have glossed, perfected, updated the database and added some small additions to edit and competitions in PES 2013 and called it pes 2014. Then they could have put all there efforts into the next gen title for next year and have it released to coinside with the start of the football season working properly with a transfer update by the first day in sept(dreaming I know)

Problem is, you get the same tactics whether it's Spain, Barcelona, Man Utd or Stoke. They all do the same thing. The approach might be slightly different but once the COM gets to within 30-40 yards, it looks to do the same thing.

It's funny that you notice this only now, as it has been pretty much this way for at least the last three versions, that every COM team plays exactly the same style of football and every COM player (on 'professional' upwards) is pretty much ignoring their own stats whenever it pleases.

I AGREE, completly. At least on Fifa, ONE can have a formation and a style based on midfield pass and move, relying on it, winning or losing, you´ll see it play to your own skill and setup strenghts and weaknesses. This is how online must work. Fifa 14 it is this year, and probably the next few. Konami destroyed PES, for good.

Try learning it. I beat 5 players on Top Player with Muller, didn't sprint once.

Muller isn't that technical or fast is he? Should not be possible to beat 5 players with him. But anyways, I actually do know how to dribble pretty well. I beat the same player twice and trice with De rossi by turning with the right stick and small accelerations, but it doesn't feel natural. Imo the mechanics feels wrong implemented by making close control default dribbling.

True. Variation in AI team play has been poor for many years now. It's another example of how the character and individuality of PES is in decline. The game feels more 'vanilla' which each passing year.

Hopefully Konami will wake up, sit down around a table and talk about what made PES great. Then bring it all back.

Played a few matches today and tried double tapping x for tackling. Though it doesn't do it instantaneously due to the tussling 'animation lock' bit; the fact that the referee is very lenient, and that they changed the tackle system making it always go after the ball, makes it spammable and overpowered. I guess it kinda balances out the other attacking exploits abit.

Interesting. I must be doing something wrong because when I use it the shots seem more floaty and I find the ball hits the woodwork way too often.

I don't know, I've played about 5 games since the patch and I think there has been a clear injection of "fun" into this game. Many of the worst problems are still there, Keepers stuck to the line, defenders a bit too prone to losing the ball to you near their own goal (they should rather boot it into the stands like in 2013).
But reaction from the players is better, games are more varied, and the downwards headers seem to no longer be the exploit they were. I'm enjoying it so far and right now I'm having a hard time stopping, unlike pre-patch.
