Great game, but it shouldn't have 90% of issues described there...
Just played Pes 2 (ps2) and gosh what a fantastic piece of game. The animations, physical battles, mind blowing individuality, shooting and overall feel of the game is so much more alive, heavy and real. I mean if konami just took that game, brought it a bit better graphics, animations, 360 + manual controls and a little slower passing it would be a raw fucken brilliant extremely addicting and fun game. I'm gonna stick to Pes 2 until november patch actually, its so good.. Pes 14 felt like a slobby boring mess afterwards. It made me realize that its not just about simulation, but a game with a real soul that drags you in and lets you feel it.
I believe we might get gameplay patch sooner than November. All is in KONAMI hands really.
They know their game is not good in a lot of areas imho. If not, then wtf were they smoking before releasing the game? Is there any Quality Assessment team there?
What they released is more like low-budget game at times not high-quality product they strive for.
Just saying. I still play it.
It has english this year too!!For those interested and asking, The Winning Eleven Japanese version last year had English commentary and English text.
I am not sure if they will have it for this year, but could be possible.
Look, I am enjoying the game for what it is but let's not be blinkered - the game is littered with problems and clearly isn't finished.
That's unacceptable, even in the age of post-release patches.
Then consider this:-
PC players were told they were getting a demo shortly after release. Now they are not getting one at all.
PC players were told the game would be available on Steam, day one. Still waiting.
Player rosters are badly out of date. We have no indication of when this will be corrected. If it comes in November then a wait of two months is unacceptable.
Well over half the stadia have disappeared yet Konami see fit to remove the stadium editor.
If this isn't stark unprofessionalism and disregard for loyal fans then I don't know what is.
I completely agree with this post. At most a week after release there should have been DLC with the correct rosters.
The framerate drops are a disgrace and there should be no framerate drops regardless on what console you play or with what setting on your console or television.
When pre-ordering, we were promised La Bonbonera, i haven't seen any La Bombonera.
Yes, this is perhaps the best football game ever, but it is an unfinished product which should not have gone in retail. It is a disgrace. Konami can learn a thing or two from EA. And don't come with the argument that gameplay is the most important aspect. I don't think anybody on this site will disagree with this argument, but it is not an excuse for an unfinished product.
Some people here are criticising EA, but at least with them you know as customer what you will get (like or not, that is even a service to the people who don't like FIFA), with Konami you never know what you will get...every year the game is completely different and even the demo is different from the retail version.
And after the DLC the game might once again be completely different. I'm not talking about repairs for the obvious flaws, i'm talking about the general feeling of the game. It might be a completely different game once again.
If PES fans keep buying such unfinished pieces of software, coming releases will be the same. Are you happy that a good football simulation concept is wasted this way? Sorry, if PES team (and Konami overall) is not capable of providing a 2013 product (you know what I mean) in year 2013, then better they leave this business. If as a programmer I do mediocre work for 7 years, I'm sure I would never find a programmer job again. If PES fans return our games in a couple of years we will only have FIFA
I'm not returning the game but I'm struggling to see past the faults at the moment. Yet another ML win last night with a goal from a keeper rebound and another with a back-heeled flick at the near post. Scoring the same goals again and again is why I don't play Fifa. Although right now I'm tempted.
I think I'll wait for the patch before playing this PES any more. Otherwise the love is going to die completely.
IMO in the last posts people are too negative over the gameplay, but i maintain that this version should never have been sold.
Well going by this logic I wouldn't bother buying most products today as they're mostly unfinished code with day 1 patches and troublesome online.
And this isn't an excuse, it's just the reality of it.
There are only a bunch that I've enjoyed right out the box this gen.
Once a game ships, the maintenance phase for the video game begins.[149]
Games developed for video game consoles have had almost no maintenance period in the past. The shipped game would forever house as many bugs and features as when released. This was the norm for consoles since all consoles had identical or nearly identical hardware and incompatibility--the cause of many bugs--was a non-issue. In this case, maintenance would only occur in the case of a port, sequel, or enhanced remake that reuses a large portion of the engine and assets.
In recent times popularity of online console games has grown, and online capable video game consoles and online services such as Xbox Live for the Xbox have developed. Developers can maintain their software through downloadable patches. These changes would not have been possible in the past without the widespread availability of the Internet.
PC development is different. Game developers try to account for majority of configurations and hardware. However, the number of possible configurations of hardware and software inevitably leads to discovery of game-breaking circumstances that the programmers and testers didn't account for.
Programmers wait for a period to get as many bug reports as possible. Once the developer thinks they've obtained enough feedback, the programmers start working on a patch. The patch may take weeks or months to develop, but it's intended to fix most accounted bugs and problems with the game that were overlooked past code release, or in rare cases, fix unintended problems caused by previous patches. Occasionally a patch may include extra features or content or may even alter gameplay.

There's a difference between a post-release "maintenance phase" and what I call "finishing the game".
Most of the goals I'm seeings videos of, I can't help but notice how tragic the defender's reactions are... The complete lack of awareness of danger as well as their inability to tackle properly sometimes.I scored a great individual goal last night only to look at the replay and find out the reason I could dribble into the box and shoot was.because the COM defenders surrounding my player backed off even when I got ten yards from goal. It's quite a big problem.
Another problem is that when I'm through on goal and one v one with the keeper, the AI makes him stay on his line. Because of this I can score virtually every single time, which is the complete opposite of PES2013. In fact twice last night I was able to run the ball to within six or seven yards from goal without the AI keeper reacting and just blast the ball into the roof of the net at full power, because I was so close to goal that I couldn't put the ball over the bar.
The game definitely isn't finished. Expecting big things of the next patch.
