PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I see almost no reactions on this post. Maybe it is overlooked because of the other discussion about the controlls.
I still wonder if this above is also the case for other PS3 owners...

I did not experience this. To me, it's all fluid now after forcing 720p. Both licensed, unlicensed and using the WENB OF.

I'll test this in a couple of hours mate. I have obvious slowdowns and I'm not the only one. Terribly coded game on PS3. Best is theyve acknowledged. So what were their testers on?

I would also make a backup before moving club incase you don't like the new club.

As for the speed of the game it could be down to the player heart levels and after half a season they will start to play better. I found that in mine and have seen a few people saying all of a sudden response improved.

One thing you could try is to change the default stadium for madrid to the one you had at asrenal

Why should we do this in a year like 2013. Terribly amateurish compared to ea.

The gameplay in training is fantastic though. Brilliant. Nothing short.

I really could do with a PS3 OF with all the EPL and Championship kits done, so i can get stuck into a ML campaign. I was hoping the WENB OF would have been upgraded by now, but no such luck... I should probably do some research and find a good one in the meantime.

Until then, I'm making do with the other modes. Anybody playing much MLO? The online experience is definitely getting better, though even when it's quite smooth it has a tendency to occasionally play like it's on -2 or -3 game speed. At least I'm not having nearly as many problems with pressing pass counting double, and the man who is clean through on goal hitting a completely unexpected pass straight to the keeper / into empty space instead. That was completely killing the experience for me.

As for MLO itself, I'm really pleased with how long it takes to get enough 'money' together to sign anybody of note. There are one or two bargains that everybody seems to know about now (Cesar Peixoto), but my most expensive player at the moment is Craig Gardner. I might need to open myself up to playing people with better squads so I get much higher multipliers for wins, rather than keep picking off similar/lesser squads for chickenfeed.

Here ya go mate http://pesworld.freeforums.net great file

Please, do yourself a huge favour and change from 10 minute games to 15 minutes. The balance of play is far more realistic and suited. If you only ever believe one thing I say, then let this be it. ;)

That's interesting, but in what way, do you mean? Does the game feel different when playing 15 minute games, or is it just that the games are longer which will give a match more depth? I'm intrigued by this. ;)

Also, what difficulty and game speed are you playing on? Any other settings you're using worthy of a mention?

I too find manual passing to be almost too manual. Been trying hard to get into it, but finding it nearly impossible to keep the flow of a match going if I'm on full manual. If I'm using the L2 manual, it feels a lot more natural somehow, maybe it's just because I can see the arrow, but it somehow feels a lot better and precise to me.

Also, is anyone else feeling that just holding X and square while defending and pressing the opposition is a bit too effective? Even on Superstar I tend to be able to get the ball from the opposition just by pressuring them sky-high with holding X and square.

I can't believe people still play less than 15min games.

I am very concerned by my experience in the CL.I smoked Chelsea, Ac Milan and Bayern by 3 to 6 goal margins. Top player, 1bar pass basic shooting.
Played exhib ition aafter against bayern same settings and got smoked.

What the fuck is going on with this game? I prefer the exhibition tbh

Try league.
I've been playing both league and ML and i prefer by far the league. Somehow i have the impression that ML affects the gameplay in a negative way.

The balance of play, and flow of the game is better suited to that time-frame. Everything, in my opinion, feels more natural. Trying to cram 90 minutes of incident into a 10 minute match makes everything feel rather hurried. And that goes for both Human and CPU Ai.

I play 15 minute games, 1-Bar Passing and Professional. And I love it.

I'm currently 2nd in the Brasilian League in my ML with Sau Paulo. Most of the games have been pretty close affairs, with leveled out Possession Stats. I lost my opening game 2-1, but really should have won that. I then went on a 7 game winning streak before getting battered 5-2 to 2nd place Corinthians. I had gone 3-0 down, pulled it back to 3-2, then threw the 'kitchen sink' at them with my Pre-Set 2 (All Out Attack- 4-1-2-3) formation. It didn't work. They caught me on the counter twice and punished me.

Do you have auto-feint ON or OFF?

I have auto feints set to 'Off'. It just seems to mean you have to manually pull off little tricks, I can't see what much else it does then you have the ball.

Still can't decide how to play this. 15 minutes or 20? 20 minutes make the game far better but you virtually always get a bare minimum of three goals (say, 2-1 etc) per game. 15 minutes are a bit more hurried, suddenly the COM starts spamming throug balls again on less than 20.

Also, the game feels SO much harder, in a good way, on zero assisted passing. AI seems to press a lot better and it forces controlled trap to be more important than ever. But the downside is that, as Jimmy says, you have to really concentrate just to hit a five yard pass accurately whether it's Pirlo or a Div 2 player.

Whatever happened to everyone just playing PES out of the box?

I get this even in friendlies. One minute the game is nicely difficult, the next, the game just let's me walk through their team and score at will. It doesn't make sense.

I'm on Superstar but mainly because I found this to be happening too much on Top Player, it's far too easy lower than Superstar to just pressure defenders and steal the ball off them to score. Happens on Superstar sometimes but at least they play decent football against me.

But I just don't understand how I can win so easily it's like the AI isn't trying, which isn't much fun, only to become hard in the next game. Maybe it's a combination of heart AND form arrows creating too much of a disparity between those on good and bad form.

Nearly bought this again today on eBay for £24.99.
I resisted. No point until mid Nov when patch is out.
By then it will be too close to Xbox1 release for me to worry about it.
Roll on PES15!
Im gutted theres no PES for me this year.

Hasnt been that way for a while. It was always the more deeper game out of the two but easier and more fun to play out of the box.

WENB must have given up on this game. Theres normally about 2 podcasts about now on the new game.
Not this year.

This is the GTM World Pro file isn't it ? If so, it still hasn't been updated to include the Sky Bet Championship. And apparently, won't be updated till after Konami release the Transfer Update Patch.

You're right mate but all the prem kits and transfers have been done with an update due out this weekend

Try Winning Eleven 2014 Asia version, No patch, No data pack, 30 min game, offline, best football ever!

As what I thought was a site at the forefront of the PES community, I do find this very worrying and bloody annoying. Clearly WENB are now just promoting the game pre-release and then taking cover once the shit storm hits post-release.

PES 2014 is an unfinished game both on and off the pitch. Some on there must have known this yet their is still no editorial about it or rallying cry to get the community to force a change - other than the lame survey that's been their front page for more than a week.

At least Adam did his best to answer those who bought the game. Ironic that last year he stropped off over "bootgate" and the state of ML whereas this year he's being paid to represent a game even more flawed than the last.

I really thought Komami had done it this year with the new engine. They have in a way but they've tarnished the good work they've done on the pitch with awful modes, flaws and what at least looks like a blatant disregard for the loyal PES community that still remains.

If anyone using PC is reading here (I know some are).

Try yair25 core 2 gameplay patch. Disable FileLoader prior to doing it though.

Makes the game, more solid and better overall.

Rubbish, game is great.

Ok, sounds good, I'll have a crack at another ML tonight, I think. How come you prefer Professional to say Top Player or Superstar? I take it you're more than good enough to play Superstar just reading your posts, so what makes you prefer Professional? I had a go at a Superstar league the other night, found it pretty good, but it was very high-paced, so had to put the gamespeed down to -2 (that's a first for me). Thought the keepers were a bit better too, but in general, all the games seemed to be very hectic and erratic.

Rubbish, game is great.

Do you think a patch/update mid November nearly 2 months after the game was released is acceptable?

Would you move into a house without a roof if they promised to put one on in 2 months?

Buy a beer and then get told you cant drink it for 2 months?

Konami are a disgrace the way theyve treated loyal fans.

At least send out a face/squad update within a week at the very latest to get that bit right. But no - even thats too much trouble.

Im glad your enjoying it btw!

Try league.

What is the difference between league and master league? do you get to play CL or Europe league in a regular league mode??

Rubbish, game is great.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I can only assume you were the one of the thousands of PES fans that Konami designed the game for and that you specifically requested crap interface, a lazy ML, badly implemented gameplay functions and keepers who can't hold a shot unless it's hammered from 30 yards. I could go on.

As many, many are saying (but not you), PES could be a great game. And it would have been if Konami had bothered to finish it. Why did they not just release it in October/November with everything done and polished? Imagine mopping up all those disgruntled Fifa fans after a couple of months.

Most worrying of all is that with customers like you and sites like WENB, Konami might just be getting the message that it will be just fine to pull shit like this all over again next year.

I think and I have seen many think too that it's a brilliant game, and yes there are some issues...

No way will I board the hype train nx year. This is suicidal. Han I tried unlicensed teams. Much improved speed all over except for penalty box. Slowdowns in there made me quit after 5 minutes. How can Sony even allow this into their PSN?

Indeed it seems that slowdonws happens more when you play player vs player.

Yesterday i had a tournament with my mates, 4 teams.

It's incredible how different the gameplay experience differs from when you play against CPU, the slowdowns on penalty box, and the response lag control are unplayable. Just try it if you have the chance playing with another people. I couldn't believe it, it was so frustrating. Btw i finished on the last place, and all the errors wasn't because of me.

The BIGGEST issue i hope Konami fix on november is the timing response. It's essential. I don't care about faces or stadiums.

:?

The game is not build for low spec machine and its obvious Konami is too ambitious to build everything into the PS3 and later they realized that the hardware just simply cannot support. I would presume that they did do tests but very vaguely.

The game AI as u can see is still pretty much plays like old series and the near post Keeper bug issue have been around for so long since Winning Eleven 10 (2006) which I think not many people played in EU, its not PES6

I personally feel Konami is too eager to push out the game and concentrated too much on the animation part and forgotten about the rest as that is the no.1 complain around the world ha... thus resulting in so much issues...

Well hope the coming patch can solve 80% of the main problems

Sadly i agree with you, this game is unfinished and needs more work and it's a shame because theres a lot of good in there.
