Super cancel: R1+R2 and you'll be controlling freely.

I forced my PS3 to 720p (it was at 1080i) and boy has that made a difference. Zero lag, stuttering is gone and only a few frames dropped in the most complex cutscenes, nothing to do with how it felt and looked before!

Very subtle, but devastatingly effect. Push Stick in as the ball is received and push opposite direction with Left Stick/Pad for a tight controlled turn. Very subtle, but that's all it takes in football. Less is more.

The defensive reactions in this video are horrific... The first defender having zero awareness and completely missing the ball without even trying, the second guy who had no urgency and gave up the chase like he didn't care and the keeper who stood there like a tree...

Ok, there is a lot of variety/freedom in the touches you can take but there's more bad in this video than good imo.

Nice. I didn't notice, but have to say I never had major issues as I installed on hdd since first minute.
I had/have only the single occasional stutter on wide out of goal shots and slowdowns into the crowded penalty box (which is not good), 720p set didn't change those.

Have you some OF installed?

Is there a valid OF which is surely not causing lag or issues?

It's a strange one this Rom, I definitely remember pressing the direction he moved towards and Sprint. That's 100% certain. I think I was holding R2 as well, but I can't be 100% sure about that.

This is just bullshit. I can do compilations about keeper howlers ALL day long. Yes, it does mean those fucking howlers happen in 1 game out of 2 :/.

This is beyond a joke. It's game breaker. Whatever klashman and others say, GOALKEEPERS are BROKEN and massive GAME BREAKER not only for me. Believe me, people online will MOAN much more, especially as it can happen anytime in game, be it 1st 5 mins or last 5. Losing a game because of above is just a joke.

I'd actually question the effect the defender has on the keeper as well. The keeper is flying head first towards the on-rushing defender (who has to jump the keeper). This could easily make a less brave keeper loose concentration.
I've only conceded a couple of howlers so far (it seems to me, although I may be mistaken, people are seeing more mistakes because of leaving their keeper one-on-one too often), each I blamed myself for. I even had my defender challenge a corner that my keeper clearly had covered. I ended up getting in the way and the keeper missed the ball :(

The last one is probably the same as before that one, but from reverse angle.

It's bad enough offline to ruin matches (nail biting, exciting 0-0 draw you hold vs Barcelona till 85min only to concede the goal where GK parries it into his own net - can make you very pissed off, especially if GK was flawless till then :P).

But if this continues in online games, seeing results like 8-7, 8-8, 5-3 etc. will be common. With frustration all over the place...
 
Every year the keepers are terrible on release, why don't they prioritise them?

It's taking all the joy away from putting a good passing move together to get one on one only for the keeper to just stand there gormless giving you an empty net almost, the near post issue has been the case for years now, horrendous.

That's interesting, and it reflects my experiences with the game. The game is in dire need of a goalkeeper fix. Had a great campaign with Montpellier going, before a series of goalkeeper howlers (both ways) just ruined the fun of playing.
 
Online stills a rubish. High line defenses even if i choose 0 on the defense line and put them in the goal line.

Its astonishing everyone playing L1 + triangle, run mphela run. And as if it not enough, the final third its just a mess, lagging and slowing, making it impossible to do anything.

And in the end, i dont know if it´s the lag or something, but most of the times i make a pass, the bar fills and the player dont release the ball, jusr keeps running or jogging with the ball and dont conclude the action i have taken wich results in loss of the ball and many times now goals for the other team, or missed goals for me since the player dont shoot the ball.

Ok wierd.

Being pissed that I can't head goals I moved to basic shooting. Granted I am using barca I am hitting far too much on target. I also upped the pass assistance to 1 bar so that I could emulate the blaugrana tiki taki style but it became even easier to rip teams up 5-1 against Bayern on Professional.

I changed my difficulty from Professional to Superstar next game. Basic shooting, pass assist off. I ran them ragged! Whenever I took the ball at them the defence just could not keep up - Iniesta outsprinted 3 defenders from deep so either I am starting to figure out the dribbling or there is something very wrong with superstar level AI.

Any advice struggling. To find a happy medium of difficulty but able to play the teams style?
 
Sometime AI is bit problematic defensively, they just back off without putting real pressure on you.

I remember @officialpes mentioned the next patch should improve the AI, but not sure at which area.
 
A guy from a Dutch forum discovered something and I did not read it here ( overlooked? ) so here it is.

It's about the PS3:

Guys, I think I've found the issue that causes the framedrops on the PS3. The licenced shirts. It seems they're somehow not compressed. I've tested this by playing several matches with and without licenced teams in the same stadium under the same circumstances. BIG DIFFERENCE! The graphics are also sharper when playing with unlicenced teams.

Much smoother when playing with unlicenced teams. Please test for yourself! I hope others witness the same difference.

Can someone point me to an extensive list of tips/tricks/things I need to learn? Just got the xbox 360 version and installed an option file :) Game one is a CL game LFC v FC Groingen :LOL:
 
The right stick doesn't seem to be doing any of the first touch, the "extended leg to get the ball" or anything.

Auto feint is off.

What's the deal?

Right stick works great you must doing something wrong here. Try holding the right stick to the right and moving the left stick to the left as soon as you receive a pass. Just to see how it works. You can do a lot more by pressing and holding the right stick in combination with moving the left stick for example.

But at first try it with a simple move. At a throw in for example. Throw it in and hold (hold it not flick it) the right stick down and move the left stick up for example. You will see it works great.

Anybody scored a long range goal yet? (speaking of pen area half-circle range or further) . Just spent like 1.5 hour trying to score any in training mode and just couldn't do it, unless i drop difficulty below professional.
Now i feel like its completely pointless to attempt a long range shot at all.

I'm feeling that way, no matter how many screamers I hit right into the top corner, the keeper magically gets his hands to the ball. Yet at the same time when one v one with the keeper, holding R2 when shooting as the keeper approaches seems to score nearly 100% of the time.

I dunno. There's a brilliant game here but it's marred by too any odd factors and imbalances. I mean tonight I've switched to zero assisted passing and the games have been fantastic, only to be ruined by a fleeting moment of shitty keeping and player switching issues.

In fact, suspiciously the same issues are those that have plagued the series. In my games tonight, absorbing and brilliant games were kind of ruined every time by both keepers handing goals to the opposition, and one game where I lost in the last minute of extra time thanks to a bouncing ball with three of my players standing around it, the game absolutely flat refuses to let me switch control to any of them, the COM player nips in while they're all standing around like zombies and I've lost a 20 minute match due to three seconds of dodgy player switching. There are too many similarities with previous PES games for this to be a comple new game.
