Lol. You are just getting used to it. It happened to me also

This game is absolutely stunning. Everyday I get the same feelings like the early days of Pes and ISS but this time even much stronger. One more game.

This game addicts so much. I really want to learn all aspects of this beautiful game. Feints, dribbling, tactics, defence movements, manual goalkeeper etc. More you learn the more you love this game.

I'm really happy that this new guy Kei Masuda took the charge of this serie despite some strange decisions with visual helpers like in freekicks and corners.

Atm my biggest concern now is headers in manual shooting mode and online cameras.

Nice. PES 2014 is like a professional career. Takes time and dedication. You start out with the game as an apprentice. Over time you move to the journeyman level and maybe, if you stick with it you'll get to the craftsman and master levels:))

Here's just a tiny selection of keepers from the games I've been playing. Do you reckon these are samples of reasonable goalkeeping? I wouldn't ask if they were isolated incidents in hundreds and hundreds of games, but this stuff happens once every five or six matches. Sometimes less.

YouTube - Keepers

I wouldn't say most of these are bugs, just the animation a little off perhaps... if you smash a ball at close range in real life the keeper will struggle to keep it out even at the near post - just look at Robben's goal against City last night. What about turning off the heart feature if people are getting annoyed, would that not help?

Anyway I'm still struggling to make a decision on whether to buy this - if these are the keeper 'bugs' that people are talking about then I can deal with them. Have played quite a few games on the ps3 demo and haven't had any issues at all really :CONF:

I was playing pes 2014 with my nephew tonight. We played it on xbox rather than ps3, i am stunned at how more fluid the game plays out. On the ps3 i had to go to 720 p to get any sort of game and even then it was not particularly smooth. On the xbox it's 1080p and it's superb.

The keepers was unbelievably good all night apart from 2 or 3 times i felt they should have done better.
The game is just soooo good this year. I'm wondering whether to start from scratch with the ps3 version, don't even bother with the 1.01 update.

Obviously I'll wait to see what konami do with the next patch ,as i play online mostly.

I thought the ps3 problems was due to it maybe not being powerful enough to run parts of the fox engine, how wrong am i.

I love the heading so much on this game. i managed to do a downward header, i didnt score but it looked really cool. This is the best pes bar none. The football you can play is just outstanding. Top stuff.

What game speed are people using? One minute I'm on -1, the next it feels too slow and so I use zero. Then zero feels too fast.....

Oh and I just rediscovered our old PES friend D'Alessandro. He's still got it, silky smooth on the ball!

Hi all, I'm really enjoying the game since I picked it up at the start of this week and the gameplay is phenomenal at times. I only have on major issue, though.

I'm playing fully manual (well, as manual as one can get) and it seems that the finesse (controlled) shots are broken? Every time I perform one, it seems to fly way over the bar - even with only the slightest push of the shoot button. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm not too sure if they have changed the controls, but I'm presuming R2+Square is the correct command. I'm using manual shooting, not advanced, if that helps anyone to give me an answer.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah its big problem withmanual shooting. I have found exactly the same thing and i think many others on here have experienced it. Hopefully it will be addressed in whatever gameplay patch comes out next. I have just given up on using controlled shots on manual until this is fixed as unless you are standing on the goaline under the posts it will always end up in orbit.

-2 feels the best for me. I have enough time to do the feints, looking my formations etc, more speed and I am just ping ponging the ball.

Question. Where people experiencing slowdown on the team management screen when moving with the analogue stick? Gone on it today and its silky smooth. Like really, really smooth.

Anyone on PS3, when you quit the game, does your console turn off then turn back on? (UK Here). Does it to my friend too.

Yes. If you don't play online games then the game won't crash when you quit. Most of the time the PS3 will reset when the game quits. There is definitely problems with Konami's online code.

Is anyone else seeing this? I remember during the demo trying both the ps3 and xbox versions and thought the xbox version ran so much better, but I assumed this would wouldn't be the case in the full version and bought it for the PS3 (more option files and easier to patch etc). Wondering if I made the wrong choice!

Anyway, loved this against my son earlier, Manchester Derby.

I filled every chant slot and some player chant slots. Added the official live entrance music at Old Trafford, sound awesome. Crowd chant Rooney when he's on the ball ,

Talking about headers...

I use manual shooting. I have not been able to perform a header in this game. And not just that, i do not challenge. I see the power bar filling but my player does not jump at all neither tries to head it nor fight for the header.

I've read all that you guys. I even tried in training mode, no opposition and same situation. But i changed the control to basic shooting and i started heading balls.

Is heading in manual shooting broken or i just needs a different approach?

Anyone know how I change the default ball for Master league from the 2014 ball to another one?

Go into the League / Cup section in Edit Mode, select the league you're going to play, then go to Detailed Settings. The option should be in there. Don't forget to pick a ball for the cup as well.

Some of the licensed leagues have the official league ball for that league, which is not selectable outside that mode.

My mind is still boggling, by the way, not just at how amazing this game is, but at the fact that some people think it's crap. Most people, apparently, if the forums are anything to go by. It's really, really depressing.

I can totally understand someone getting extremely frustrated with the little glitches, the lack of off-the-pitch stuff and the lateness of the DLC, and protesting that in this day and age it's just not good enough - yes that's right, Sir. But people think the game's crap? How can anyone who likes or understands football honestly think that?

Yeah, my goalie sometimes chucks one in at the near post. Yeah, I'm halfway through a season with Fiorentina and my home stadium looks not a jot like the Artemio Franchi. But I'm playing the most absorbing, intricate and fundamentally satisfying football game of all time - BY MILES AND FUCKING MILES.

I'm even getting used to the loss of the old R2 button stuff, thanks to the right stick. Pretty much the whole game is now about the right stick, in the way it used to be about R2: you can do so much with it, in almost any situation. In attack, in defence. The fancy stuff; the ugly stuff.

Incidentally, here's a really good tip. Before you start a league, go through all the teams, including your own, in Edit Mode, and move their defensive line down to 5, or maybe 6 or 7 for a team that always plays a pretty high line (you have to change their default tactic to "Custom" in order to open up the sliders, but all the other settings will just stay as they were so you haven't actually changed their basic tactics). Suddenly - assuming you defend properly - there are one or two 1-on-1s a game, or maybe even none in a particularly tight one. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this transforms the gameplay. It doesn't make them sit really really deep, it just makes them play a less suicidally high line. Then later in the game, if you're winning, the cpu will often switch to one of the more attacking tactic options, and suddenly you're aware of its DF line coming right up the pitch, dangerously high... THEN you start looking to catch them out on the break with a killer through ball. Much more true to life.

I've got this on 30 minute games. Loving every minute. Every match is a story in itself. So unbelievably deep... so many individual phases, so many little moments, the game turning on a handful of incidents, ongoing personal duels (stuff like man-marking works far better than it ever used to)... it's just amazing. Without fail, at some point in the second half, usually around the hour mark (as the twisting, turning story of the game is about to enter its final phase) I find myself staring at the screen and muttering "this - is - amazing." It's almost enough to make an old ISS-head like me cry tears of happiness. Not quite, like - I'm not a complete knob. But close.

The idea that a load of moaning twats who don't actually know what football is, and just want to run up and down with Ronaldo doing fucking rainbow flicks, might force Konami into changing direction and never developing this particular game, with all its incredible potential... well, if that ever happens it really is time to give up on humanity for good. I want to go round all these forums clipping these idiots round the back of the head. "Shut up, you bloody idiots. Go and play bloody FIFA, for God's sake. Let there be a football game for adults."

Because that's what this is, and my God we've waited a while.

Yes it's broken in penalty area for headers. Also in defending corners.

I think that is the biggest compliment I have with the game and something I haven't seen done well in any other football game - those ebbs and flows of a match you see in a real game is VERY real. Teams don't stick to one particular style - at times they'll press, at times play very defensive passes, at times play possession football... the heart feature means they'll react to good spells and sometimes you get those periods of the game where nothing seems to be going right...

It needs a (fair!) bit of tweaking because gameplay is too end-to-end at higher difficulties but yeah people don't seem to comment on this aspect of the game at all...

An excellent core that makes me very excited.

Read this review over at Operation Sports, have to say it's pretty spot on.

Final Thoughts

There’s a great game lurking somewhere in PES 2014. Gameplay is exciting, save for those few annoying flaws that pop now and then, and the FOX engine can help the franchise reinvigorate its visuals. But as an overall package, it’s just not there yet. There are still too many things that need to be fixed or rebuilt. The potential is great, but we’re not shelling out sixty bucks for a game that might be live up to the promise a few years down the road.

PES 2014 is probably not a must-buy for most people. Now, if literally all you care about is playing a great match, then yes, you’d probably get a lot of mileage out of this year’s game because gameplay is still, for the most part, realistic and exciting. But if you need deep game modes and presentation elements to continuously provide incentive to play matches, then perhaps it comes down to how much sixty dollars mean to you.

exactly how I felt after playing this game. I'll be trading this in and waiting until they release on PS4 next year. Hopefully its not a repeat of 2008..

Agree 100%.

Do we have the definitive list of kit formulae for all teams. The RGB ranges have changed allowing finer shades than last year. Even the kits have changed shades and designs too. If you can share any source that has the kit formula for all teams? Would immensely help people like me who don't want an option file but want to get closer to real life kits.

I've just edited myself the whole premier league and championship badges, kits and names. Used google images for them. Once your playing as long as you're close enough it looks fine, same with the badges, the editing tools allowed me to make all of them, close enough!

I could'nt agree with you more mate. I agree with you 110%.

This game is pure simulation football as its best (with sure some obvious bugs)

wrong to Loved this game every minute on play, but i love it on every second..
worth to note none of the soccer games that are currently able to rival PES 2014.. This is the first in the history of how the soccer gaming revolution has begun ...:BRMM:

This goal reminds me, GK lack of awareness for chipped shots. De Gea does nothing. Zero reaction. Not even jumping or rushing back to goal. Nothing.

You would still score it, but how much more delightful it would look if De Gea rushed back only to realize ball is already in net.

And this happens with a lot of chipped balls... No satisfaction after that for me because I know GK weren't even trying to stop it.

Fix some of GK issues and this will be the best football game ever (it is even now for me, but some issues remind me of "not yet" part).

I scored a real world chipped goal yesterday, and the keeper knew that if it was on target, he had no chance, but he still turned around to see if it went in, which De Gea does. I don't think the issue is how they react, it's more that the positioning for the keepers seems to not take into account the possibility of a chip at times. Either that, or chipping is simply too easy to pull off?

I agree with everything you said. My friend and I played this game all day yesterday and it is BY FAR the best football game we have ever played. We're not blind to the flaws, but it's going to take a LOT more than a couple of--what is surely, all things considered--minor bugs to ruin this game for us.
