I've been trying to play it for what it is, and trying to get along with the problems, and I agree that when in the middle of the park the game is fantastic fun - but it all comes crashing down when the keepers ruin the game. Fair play if it doesn't bother people, but it ruins the game for me. I've lost count of so many instances where my keeper runs past the ball, doesn't react and lets it bounce into the net when it's right next to him, actively dives out of the way of the ball and, most commonly, palms shots at his near post into his own net. Over and over. The fact that the rest of the game is so great makes it worse in many respects.

I've only had the game for a few weeks and the number of keeper howlers I've seen just isn't good enough. You can have the best, most realistic football game ever created, but if your keeper frequently dives out of the way of the ball then it renders the rest of the game a moot point.

It's fundamental for a football game to have keepers who's AI doesn't behave erratically on a regular basis. How it's managed to get worse compared to last year's game I don't know, I seem to have been one of the few who didn't really mind keepers in the past. What I didn't expect was for them to be such an issue on a new engine, especially after all the criticism they've had in the past.

I recommend you to try out manual goalkeeper when coming close to your goal. It solved my goalkeeper problems and most of all it's great fun. And the best of all you can use it also online this year.

After started using it no stupid goalkeeper error so far.

Having a crazy problem when using 3 humans vs CPU in champions league , it kept kicking one controller off Xbox, then in between games it would bump one of controllers to CPU team... Anyone experience this

I tried a game on superstar in my Master League to test if it's better with he heart. Nope. I'm not touching superstar again until after the patch now. Its not good, far too end to end, too much pressure with so many gaps available.

Keepers seem worse on this level also.

Top player or Professional is the way to go.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I started an ML as Ajax about five games in. In Squad List, player stats show Teamwork, and all my players are at 99. But when I go into Next Game and then Game Plan before Kickoff, and select a player to check his stats or change his position, there is no Teamwork stat available. All the other stats are there, I guess. During a game, in Game Plan, when you check the players stats, do you see a Teamwork stat? I would love for someone to tell me that I am wrong. I would rather be blind and wrong about this. I always loved the Teamwork stat in ML.

I noticed something very similar in the Edit mode. Where it lists players stats on their main page, there is a stat for Work Rate. If you select the players ability to edit the stats, Work Rate is not listed.

I went in looking for Teamwork and couldn't see that stat anywhere in the edit mode. I wondered if work rate was the same thing.

In previous versions teamwork was a very important stat as upping it made the computer controlled team pass the ball about much more and icreased their AI.

Chimps did you ever get to the bottom of this teamwork stat conundrum?

Has work rate being a combined attribute stat replaced it in general seeing as the actual teamwork stat is locked to ML offline?

It was a crucial stat for picking creative midfielders, as they were more intelligent in moving into space to receive the ball the higher the teamwork.

Maybe 1 of elusiveness and work rate do the same job? Or another combined stat?

Keepers stop nearly all the shots they should and scorelines are in proportion with the real world. I've seen them make incredible saves and I've seen them make mistakes, just like real football. What's slightly frustrating is their lack of response when activated by the user. Hopefully Konami will improve that. Otherwise, keepers are fine.

Here's just a tiny selection of keepers from the games I've been playing. Do you reckon these are samples of reasonable goalkeeping? I wouldn't ask if they were isolated incidents in hundreds and hundreds of games, but this stuff happens once every five or six matches. Sometimes less.

Anyone who is on the PS3 that isn't as impressed as others about the game should try playing at 1080i.

It was complete fluke that my ps3 is set to that as I had, had it on an older tv upstairs. Putting it up to 1080p makes the players less responsive and rigid and I am sure even shows less animations. I have gone back to 1080i and there is far less stuttering and smoother game play

I'd say only the 3rd and (maybe) the last ones are unacceptable and clearly bugs. None of the others are bugs, but it's a shame that we couldn't just have sliders to ramp up the keepers if desired.

The 3rd one looks like the keeper thinks that the man on the ball is on his team. Maybe that is what has happened.

Game is great for me on 720p but just out of curiosity how do you get the TV to go to 1080. If I deselect 720p and select 1080 on my PS3 it automatically goes to 480p:CONFUSE:

What about 720p, as has already been mentioned? Funnily enough, the i signifies 'interlaced' video, and sport on TV (SKY HD, for example) is interlaced too. It makes the video appear smoother.

Your TV might not properly support 1080i/p (but not sure why it would go to 480p). What is the model number? There should be nothing to do except select 1080 on the PS3 side.

I beat AC Milan 0-1 with Napoli. Champion!

Although I do agree scoring can feel a bit hollow, and that shooting needs improving, this is one hell of a football game. It's the beautiful game.

I canne wait for an Option File and the next data file to iron out some of these issues.

Are you using any gameplay tool or just the raw game? I can´t decide wich one is best. I loved the removed catch up bug from nesa, but overall game seemed easier and some weird bugs here and there. Shots were also great in this version, better then original one. On the other hand, original EXE seems more bug free. Damn...

I went to display settings then unchecked 1080p.

Before PES came out this here I was playing another game upstairs on the ps3 on the tv on that I went with whatever setting that set it to automatically. Then brought it downstairs and thought the game play was great. Then tried upping it to the highest setting on the tv downstairs, which was 1080p. I am fairly sure it was 1080i that it was set to previously. It feels better when I have switched it back and cannot see a difference in graphics

I'm using the original gameplay. Way, way, way too early to get into gameplay editing. Another patch will come so they will have to start from 0 and we need to all get to know the game inside out.

If you patch too early you just end up creating more issues. This 1.01 version isn't worth patching at all, I'd rather get to know the game first. If I was to use a patch it would probably be in February or March after 6 months of so and after some stable patches so we know what we are handling.

I used to do gameplay editing way back with the old gen crap FIFA's I did FIFA 07 the most, that game was ridiculously easy, but we all took time to get to know the game inside out before editing it and the patches we made didn't make anything worse it only enhanced the game. There where a number of us who edited it since everyone could do it.

Some people are playing 10-15 games then editing it, no, we need to play hundreds of matches and play all different modes, different teams try all the different tactics and variables to fully understand what is wrong, what is ok, what needs a tweak.

I've been on professional playing 15 minute games as standard.

I asked you because I followed your threads in operation sports in Fifa 12 and totally respect your opinions, based on all the good work you did there. I also try to find the best balance between fun and realism, and I think this game has more potencial then ever to achieve it. I tried some gameplay tools already but you confirmed what I was already thinking: for now, original is the way to go.

I feel kind of stupid now, really... I was playing yesterday testing a couple of tweaks from Nesa and Yair, then removed them and played a match im my previously started ML. On Superstar (wich I think is not the best dificulty anyway) after a corner, AI goalkeeper rushed and punched the ball far away to the other side, where some AI defender headed to the front of the box, and I just pressed the shot button, though I didn´t believe I would have a good outcome. My nearest AM stops the ball with his leg, and hits it over the keeper. Shot went strong, but with lots of curve and keeper didn´t had a chance... I was . By far the best goal I ever scored and it was sooo real! Then I didn´t saved it, blame the wrong button pressed... shame on me!

Question. Where people experiencing slowdown on the team management screen when moving with the analogue stick? Gone on it today and its silky smooth. Like really, really smooth.

Anyone on PS3, when you quit the game, does your console turn off then turn back on? (UK Here). Does it to my friend too.

Exactly, PES games take time to learn before you appreciate them. I haven't even thought about it and probably won't.

If I do it will be to make some teams better to play against you.

Hi all, I'm really enjoying the game since I picked it up at the start of this week and the gameplay is phenomenal at times. I only have on major issue, though.

I'm playing fully manual (well, as manual as one can get) and it seems that the finesse (controlled) shots are broken? Every time I perform one, it seems to fly way over the bar - even with only the slightest push of the shoot button. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm not too sure if they have changed the controls, but I'm presuming R2+Square is the correct command. I'm using manual shooting, not advanced, if that helps anyone to give me an answer.

Thanks in advance.

Lol. You are just getting used to it. It happened to me also

This game is absolutely stunning. Everyday I get the same feelings like the early days of Pes and ISS but this time even much stronger. One more game.

This game addicts so much. I really want to learn all aspects of this beautiful game. Feints, dribbling, tactics, defence movements, manual goalkeeper etc. More you learn the more you love this game.

I'm really happy that this new guy Kei Masuda took the charge of this serie despite some strange decisions with visual helpers like in freekicks and corners.

Atm my biggest concern now is headers in manual shooting mode and online cameras.
