3. Enhanced R2 curl-shot (has anyone even managed what used to be called a mid-range curler?

I think I just did. Revenge of that curry for dinner last night. I've told the missus to give it a minute before she uses the loo.

As for the game, I've had very few issues with heading or with my defenders. I did however have a bit of a "meh" feeling through winning a match 2-1 with two tap ins from the oppo keeper pushing the ball out to my striker.

Like I said, I did change to professional and though the game feels a little bit less rewarding, it´s not easier at all. Probably harder, because the opponent won´t make runs like crazy, they play a more cautious approach and they still defend better IMO.

Instead of applying high pressure, they keep position and wait for me, so it´s been harder to break through. That said, I still didn´t manage to win any competition on professional level. Playing against Barça was very hard and in the entire match I couldn´t have a single shot! And believe me, I tried! Damn I barely got deep into opponent´s half! Funny thing is, particulary in that match, Barça had more fouls, and 3, yes THREE yellow cards! They were really agressive until they scored, twice. Nice goals by the way...

Then I got possession, only because they parked the rest of the match, and I still couldn´t do anything to break the defence.

I put it up to superstar last night and was pinned in my own half by a computer controlled team attacking all of the time.

I broke away and scored and spent the rest of the match being forced to defend. What I noticed was a lot of things that people are complaining about which up until this point I hadn't really seen that much.

Most of these are around your own defences responses and your keeper when the ball in close to him. These things exist, but the more you play a team that attacks you the more you see them, that is probably why people playing certain settings see them more than others.

I also think the pitch and time of day makes a difference as well as the team. I find playing in the champions league with barca vs another very good team in new juventus stadium superb on professional.

Further away than I was hoping for.

agreed but let them rather get it right than rush again

I am concerned that they now used the new engine and unsurprisingly there have been issues.

Now the next game will probably be on the next gen and we could possibly have issues again with the new hardware - they could build a reputation at this rate. People do not have the patience to understand and many will write this off no matter if the patch fixes it.

PES seems to get a lot more stick than EA do in this regard.

Also and sorry to bring this up but kudos to Adam - Jon had this way of disappearing after release and not responding - say what you want about Mr Bhatti he is there and taking it all on the chin. I would hate to have his twitter account at this time.

The patch is needed NOW (the amount of bugs/glitches I see, rises with every day), DLC may be released without patch at further date.

Sorry, but this game is unplayable mess at times and no doubt, some people will switch to FIFA/GTA/put other game title here/ and wait for KONAMI to fix their damn game.

We need good patch. Co nagle to po diable :)) I would like to wait more and have good patch than fast with bugs.

The problem is, you know what made FIFA great? Yup, they ported PES6 gameplay into FIFA, but updated it with 360 movement and other shit.

If people don't see similarity, try playing PES6 and then jump to FIFA 10 (on consoles).

You will feel at home, I bet.

KONAMI tries to please both sides of spectrum (casual + hardcore fanbase). This means making the game pleasing those with arcade approach and those who love simulation.

This won't happen. Unless you take similar approach to SimBin and GTR. Separate the game modes to Arcade/Sim.

That is it.

i'm sorry but you are wrong.
no FIFA game has ever felt like any PES game we had in the old gen consoles era........never.
no FIFA game has ever felt like PES 5 or 6 period

How many people will still be playing PES by the time the patch arrives? People here and on other forums are becoming disillusioned with insurmountable issues.

A patch is needed within the next couple of weeks, not November.

Konami need to stop releasing unfinished PES titles and take a bit more pride in what they do. Having to wait two months after release for patches (as well as the missing player faces) is not good enough.

Exactly. And lets not forget that Konami has not issued any information directly to its customers about this patch. It's been Tweeted by Adam. I feel for that guy. Whatever he's being paid, it's not enough.

Personally, I'm tempted to play FIFA 14 and then return to PES 2014 when the patch is done. I fear the longer I play now the more the issues with response times is going are going to pee me off. I do like the game but it's like playing a demo. I'd rather feel excited for the finished game than frustrated at having to put up with and make do.

If the patch is indeed scheduled for November, I won't be playing Pro until then. Simple as that.

I think the key will be if everyone forgives Konami if the patch delivers?

Disappointed the patch isn't coming so though. Also like other companies they will need to update the discs so if people buy it form christmas it already includes all the patches.

What is it about football games having so many bugs. How hard is it truly to create a football game.

I just might, but only if the patch delivers and it has to deliver helluva lot!

Reading this forum does my head in..."the king is back", "i love this game", and then "worst pes ever", "unplayable". Yes there are issues but you know what? I am still playing the demo everyday and it is all I play. That says a lot.

Im the first one to say Konami are sloppy and their mentality is dated but to say the worst PES ever and that the game is unplayable is farsical.

I'm still enjoying this immensely, playing the Dutch league with Heerenveen. Thought I was going on a run last night after a thrashing and then a comeback win, plus in the third game I clawed back 2 quick goals after being 2-0 down. But then I made a mistake and they punished me. It ended 4-2 in their favour (forget what team it was, probably Roda).

I'm actually a bit worried about a patch at this point, sure it can fix a lot of stuff, but it can make some things worse as well.

So will the patch release in November include player transfers? We'd really have to wait until then to have transfers that took place in June updated?

Konami want to win back more customers but authenticity counts for a lot in football games, and by the time a proper transfer update comes out well then be only a month away from the January window, and it'll be out of date again. Plus, by that time, EA will have managed to release their game on current gen AND next gen with everything up to date. Doesnt bode well for the big drive to win people back.

The game is playable, but the fairy tale ends there and we are onto a horror story now. If you want to get deep with the game, you just can't. Even if you try to overlook the MAJOR issues with the current state of the game, at some point you will say "fuck this shit" and you will RAGE QUIT! I've put more than 50 hours into the game and I can safely say that the game is as finished as my work for the day, it is just 1 pm ... half way there.

Pro, bro, on full manual. I might try one bar tonight... -1 speed

I'll stick to pro now even if it ends up too easy after practice. Like Klash says, the upper levels are too unbalanced and sacrifice realism for extra challenge. I'll see how I get on with Pro, but I'm sticking to 1 bar passing as I'm finding manual to be impossible. Miles harder than manual in last year's game.

Then the January transfer patch comes in March. :FAIL:

You know what i was waiting for the transfer patch to start with the tactics thread. think I'll just start now if we have to wait that long.

The reason I loved the older gen games was because even after months of play you would still see something new, sure you had mastered the game but it was still great to play and satisfying to score.

This has just become too predictable and boring to play because of the AI, they never change the way to approach how you play, I had 6 clear shots on goal with Ross Barkley one match, which the keeper parried out, at what point does the AI notice he's a threat or you know, close him down closer to the box?

That feeing of scoring special goals is non existent now because of the frequency and accuracy you are allowed.

I am playing this this exact same way as 2012-2013 and it's allowing me the same success, it's just a really poor game I think to be honest.

I was having a hard time with Zero bar passing at first, and almost changed to 1, but I stuck with it and now I'm glad I did.

I've similar sentiments on the difficulty. I always start a game of BAL on Superstar to see how the game is, then change it until I feel comfortable (good balance of win/loss vs similar level opponent), then I start a Master League at this level. This year I had to drop all the way down to regular. However after a few MLO games once it was stable, along with about a 1/4 season of Master League I moved it up to Pro. At the moment my team at the end of the first season is high up the 2nd Div and is stronger in depth than a large portion of the league, so is about right. However I'm currently on 1 bar/basic/basic. So due to the way the CPU played as I trickled down the levels in BAL, I don't want to go higher in the difficulty setting. As individually I can't take advantage of the TOP/Superstar approach by CPU teams, but as a unit (controlling all) I easily could, but it would mean all my play would be exactly the same way, which would be boring.

Instead, if it becomes too easy on pro, I'll start by first making the controls more manual, then when those changes 'run out' I'll change my transfer policy and perhaps run an under 21 only team or something.

Unfortunately, the higher difficulty levels appear to have used a couple of rather 'cheap' ways of trying to make it a greater challenge, which instead of giving a harder game, just says 'play like this to win' and rather than having a variety of different goals appearing, you' end up with just one type of goal for CPU, and one type of goal for the human team.

My only annoyance in this, which I hear is in ''other' games, is that we can't tailor our difficulty settings. I'd like to have the difficulty increased in areas like reducing the 'mistakes' the CPU makes and improving the response of goalkeepers, but I don't want the things like 'make all players boosted for pace/strength/tenacity' in order to make your opponent more difficult.

I'm guessing that there's a potential for this in patches once modders have fully understood the available variables across the platforms. But then this approach is only available for modded console and PC users. Not the majority of players.

Patch 1.02 and DLC 2.0 according to Adam will be in November?

KONAMI really knows how to deal with customers... :ugly:

In the meantime I saw the game at a friend - PS3 set to 720p and Game installed to HDD - most of the stuttering and response issues were gone, which was good to know.
So I went to a shop, bought the game for 35€ - played about 50 games so far.
Still I feel no joy, when plyaing the game. I am still absolutely dissapointed. Good to realize, that performance was better with different setting, but after all PES 2014 is not my game. Would really like to love it, but I can not. It feels absolutely weird to me, when playing it.
So I am going to sell it via ebay...
Maybe better luck next year - the same hope like last 7 years... :D

I'm tempted to agree with this post.
Yes this game has issues, and yes Konami are sloppy.
But how are they supposed to react to such a changing feedback from the cutomers ?

It's great, it's fantastic, it has issues, it's not that good, it's bad, it's the worst PEs ever...

And this sometimes coming from the same people..what in hell would you do with reactions like that ?

I would be tempted to ignore them. Wich would be a shame, but very understandable...

Judging by the differences in opinions and the way the game play seems to change depending on random factors such as installing an option file, I wouldn't be surprised if the game each of us is playing feels different to everyone's else's or that there are some people getting a much better experience with very limited faults by nothing other than good luck.

Perhaps those having a terrible time could try re-installing or applying an option file again and hope whatever random thing effects it, works out in their favour this time.

I know in previous years I have installed a patch or file and then suddenly the game play feels perfect and knowing how easily it can get messed up, I have then refused to install any further patches that come out.
