If you're playing on PC, force the game to run in DX11 mode by adding -dx11 in shortcut.

First of all create one if you don't have it.

Go to game folder and right click on pes2014.exe -> create shortcut.

After that right click on shortcut -> properties

Now in target it should read something like this*: "C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2014\pes2014.exe"

So put -dx11 after that. (it should be: "C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2014\pes2014.exe" -dx11)

Click ok.

Run the game through the shortcut.

Check if it improves game or not.

*depends where your game is installed.

Also if someone didn't test yet, you can do powerful throw with keepers. It's done similarly to fake throw.

I only pulled it off once though (press X/A and when you see the keeper moving hand backwards, press X/A and hold it till power fills up).

Need to re-test further :P

Again with the PES6 widows? Really?

I'm so glad seeing 2014 as base for the future of PES, with his flaws obviously (it's a new engine and the first game using it) the future looks very promising IMO.

Please just play a first half on PES2014 and then just the same match on PES6 and shut up already.

Highly doubt theres any differences really.

Some of your posts have an element of rage-quit to them. 'I just conceded a goal, it was not my fault - this game is broken'. You seem to be confused about whether you like the game or not.

You're right, though, in that you're well within your rights to post your thoughts on this forum. Fair play.

To be fair I haven't swung from one extreme to the other, I said a lot of positive things about the game over the first few days but since then more and more issues are coming out the more I play it.

To maintain a balance, there are fantastic aspects to the game, but the keeper issues have ruined a number of games I've played recently. You can't deny that the enjoyment goes out the window when your keeper goes running past the ball rather than pick it up, and you lose a goal because of it.

Similarly I'm not posting after rage quitting, these are games I played yesterday and some today. I even pointed out that I've scored some goals because of dodgy keeper errors and that is just as annoying, it removes all the fun from the game. I want to feel like I've worked in order to score a goal, and somehow this game barely ever leaves me feeling that sense of satisfaction when I score. Even PES 2013 gave me plenty of 'out of the seat' moments when scoring goals, but this just doesn't. I largely feel flat when scoring, because somehow the game feels like it lets you score. I rarely have to work to score, it just happens almost as if the game says so.

I dunno, there's something missing from this game that the previous games had. I kind of agree with Gamespot's review where they say it doesn't really feel like PES any more. It doesn't feel quite like PES, but it still has some of the old annoyances. None of the good stuff, just the annoying stuff.

I actually enjoying reading Suuuuuuuuuuupertalks's posts. Through all the mood swings you can tell he loves football and loves his PES, and that's good enough for me:))

Keepers need more work, still making silly moves.
Shots need more power
Players response need tweaking
Animations are good but not very rich

Do you agree with these? Are they game breakers?

Agree about keepers, players response and sort of agree about shots although I like the shooting this year. Very happy with animations this year though.

Keepers can be fixed. I'm watching inter vs foretina on my dvr. Pes 2014 in terms of buildup is very realistic. Best buildup in a footy game ever. Final pass is tough, just like real life. I score mor headers then anything else. But can't score from outside box. I don't like that.

Up untill now i have had no complaints about this game. But i just had a penalty in exhibition game and the fucking ball went straight through the goalkeepper i mean passed through and came out his arse! WTF? Not good man not good.

What difficulty are you on? I tried lowering it to Professional before I stopped playing tonight and while a bit easier, it was far tighter and less end to end. Felt a lot better, but my concern would be how easy it could be not to concede.

Pro, bro, on full manual. I might try one bar tonight... -1 speed

you will see less issues on professional, its the best level to play on, defence is better all round also on this level. It's still tough though.

I agree with klash that response is by far the biggest issue. They have made design choices that I disagree with, but can respect (like adding a pause after being tackled), however response and cursor issues are inexcusable. They probably need to just rewrite their cursor switching algorithm from scratch, because I think that is the source of many of PES' problems.

I have no doubts about Suuuuuppppertalk's good intentions. The videos speak for themselves, too. And I would never suggest that someone's bad experience with the game is because they weren't trying hard enough or were playing it the wrong way.

But I've got to say, too, that the game is a delight for me. I'm about 3/4 through a league season as Utrecht. I think we are 11th place and our goals scored/conceded/differential is spot on for our league position (I think it's +4).

I just played two matches. The first, against Ado Den, I only had 43% possession, with 3 shots, won 2-1. and the second, against Roda, I had 58% possession, with 11 shots, drew 1-1. It's been a joy, despite a few dodgy goals of course.

These are my full settings, if that helps:

Straight retail, no dlc patch, no OF yet, US version, PS3, installed. 720p LCD television.

10 minute gametime, Professional difficulty, Semi-Assisted Cursor, 1 bar passing, Basic shooting and passing, Auto Feint ON, Semi-asssisted Teammate siding.

Assisted Tactics: Offside Trap ON, Substitutions Flexible, Change tactics OFF, Combination Play ON.

Straight 442. Support 10. Support distance 8. Front-line Pressure 11. Defensive Line 8. Shift to Attack 7. Compactness 10.

Only one Combination Play: Hold up CF.

I almost always only use the d-pad to make the defensive line deeper, especially if the CPU midfielder has possession in the middle and is towards my goal. I can't think of the last time I tighten the defensive line. The line is already overly high in this iteration.

I play off the ball defense. I never sprint on defense except to the extent that X is sometimes a sprinting jockey. Press sprint and the CPU initiates runs. Anyways at that point I have already used d-pad to drop the defensive line. I give the CPU plenty of time on the ball (and they are inventive).

I do feel a bit foolish, enjoying the game so much while others have so much grief. Perhaps I'm a bit blind to the problems? Perhaps I've always recognized some dodginess in PES iterations? But the gameplay has thus far been amazing. I haven't had this joy from this game in years.

I really just want a few fixes

1. So many good, strategic fouls to give, yet none given.
2. Slight (even after install) goalmouth framerate issues.
3. Enhanced R2 curl-shot (has anyone even managed what used to be called a mid-range curler?
4. Reduced chasing of runners to ruin the offside trap. I estimate half of all through-ball goals are caused by this error. Thus my dropping of the defensive line with d-pad whenever a CPU midfielder looks dangerously positioned.

--good day!

adding to this, people say 'fix keepers'.

all they need to fix on keepers is their handling floaty aerial balls/chips, rest is fine.

Keeper bugs are the same as the general responsiveness bugs. The bad responsiveness is affecting all the players and the goalies too. Fixing that universally is the thing we need.

The 360 US version definitely doesn't seem to be suffering from as much of response issues as ps3 and pc. The lack of awareness/activity by the defenders and spazzy keepers is very much an issue though. I hope the next patch, as they're going to take it seems at least 5 weeks to release it, addresses at least some of the issues. I stick by my original view of the game in that it's 70% brilliance and 30% poop. If they can shift another 10% from the poop to the brilliance category with the 1.02 patch, I'll be happy.

Btw, Berbatov in the game looks as much like the real thing as my cat!

When I was checking if my PS3 is set to 720p, I just thought that I can test the game in lower resolutions. So I set my PS3 to 576p with a 16:9 ratio and tested the game out. Naturally 576p on a HDTV is not going to look great. But the gameplay! Incredible! Amazing! I'd request to you test this and see for yourself. Having played the game in 576p, I can't go back to 720p anymore :(

which really beats the purpose of having PES in 576p.

If i want to have 'not so great' graphics but better gameplay, i might as well switch to FIFA.

Good gameplay, lame graphics :))

nevertheless, thank you for the input ;)

I'm now trying to stick to 576p but make the visuals look 'decent' with my TV/PS3 settings. I'm certain that all PES games in PS3 are made for PS2 which is why they all run perfectly in last gen settings. But amazing gameplay in 576p. You get to see animations that you don't see in 720p. Strange but true.
