Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

On setting in main menu.

Without sounding like an utter div, care to elaborate. Cant find anywhere that even suggests installation. I have a super slim 500g.

No worries got it. Was looking on the ps3 interface menu. Cheers for the prompt. Nic one!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

The joy of never having to worry about the online gaming issues . . .

Ain't that the truth. Too old for that shite.

On the pitch this game is magisterial. Like the real sport it's a man's game which takes effort and the development of a skill-set. It's not perfect but it's a hardcore football simulation and I can understand how that's going to alienate a a lot of people, especially those who have become use to the arcade football game drivel we've been fed the last 7 years, from both Konami and EA. That being said, I recognize that 99% of the complaining is a result of online being poor, which I can understand, if that's your thing.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I find that a lot of people who are complaining about issues with the game, online aside, just simply haven't spent long enough with the game and therefore they assume it's the game's fault rather than their own lack of skill and knowledge. Headers for example. I've heard quite regularly people complaining about hard it is, or how rare they are, but I do them fairly frequently. I'm not a great player by any means, fairly poor actually, but I've probably scored about 10 headed goals in the last 2 days.

After just playing some more games, I really do think the gameplay itself is fantastic. I must say that I do get caught up by the defenders fairly regularly, even if I'm in control of a speedster, so I do hope a patch comes out that makes speed more of a factor. I'm not condoning speed-whoring, but it should be more of a factor. It's the most common way to beat a man in the actual sport, so it should be here too. Likewise, I think the passing accuracy could be upped a tad and also the player switching. But everything else? A really fantastic offline experience.

I just played a game in the knockout stages of Europe League. The first leg was a 0-0 draw. 15 minute matches, professional. I was 0-2 in the second leg when all of a sudden I pull it back to 3-2 in the second half with some brilliantly timed runs and nice finishes. I was starting to think maybe Professional was too easy when with 8 minutes to go...they score...and I go out. FFS.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I'm thinking of maybe going down a notch, to Professional. I'm not losing too hard at Top player (apart from the odd rodgering) but scoring and winning is extremely rare at the moment. To be fair I haven't even given professional a try in the game, just felt it was a tad too easy in the demo.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Could be the old placebo affect again, but I feel the game got a bit more difficult after the 1.01 update, which is always a good thing.

It took me awhile to get into the habit of instructing my players to makes runs, but once I did I found I was creating so many more opportunities for myself. At first it seemed over-complicated, but it really isn't once you get in the habit. I also sparing use the through ball button. When I first got the game, I would use it in tight spaces and it would always get hit too hard and I'd lose the ball. Now I just use it to put my player clear through on goal or for a one two. Much more effective.

I feel there's still much more to discover in this game. One step at a time.

You should. I'm always on professional on every PES. It's always felt the most balanced for me. I play good I win, and vice versa. Feels much less of the scripting if you like to call it that.

I tried regular and even though it felt good too, AI players won't do any skills; well I haven't seen any myself. On professional, played the same teams, and they do. Feel a bit smarter as well.

In truth, I really didn't see any scripting or balance issues on Superstar. That's why I praise the AI as I do. In FIFA, the highest difficulty just means ridiculous scripting and super powered players. On this game, it just means the team is smarter going forward and harder to break down. I came off Superstar because they were just that, but it never felt cheap.

i am still not sure how to do it help

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

First OPTION FILE for PES2014 PS3 is out. Check WENB.

I will download that but wouldn't apply the sponsor logos. Would use the option file for correct team names, player names, league names etc and for the team emblems.

Do you know if this will work with the UK PSN version of the game?

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Konami baffles me. They spent great effort making a new game engine and very little effort in everything else like stadiums, modes, faces, online, etc. Aside from the hardcore fans who keep putting up with this year after year I would say that Konami will keep losing sales to EA until the development of a new PES becomes a loss making exercise and thereforenon existent.

How can it be so hard to get it right? Dont they play test FIFA? Dont they know how deep their offering is (yet how shallow he gameplay is, ironically). Why cant they copy what EA is doing? after all that is what EA did, or tried to do, back in the PS2 days when they realised hat they needed better gameplay to compete with PES!
PES 2014 on the pitch is near perfect but off the pitch is atrocious! 15 stadiums in this day and age? Online amess like in PES 2009? And they charge full price for this?

I really would like to understand why they cant get it right. Is it a cultural thing with the Japanese? Are they severely understaffed so two years is not enough to deliver a finished product? Do they keep holding back features so we keep thinking "lets wait for next year, surely theyll include x or y then!"

I was so excited after trying out the demo, should have known better. Still a great game of footy but I think the demo will do this year, just like PES 2013. Another year of playing FIFA sadly, as I play mainly online, which by the way has gotten better on the pitch but still cant hold a candle to PES.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

So I hold R1+R2, then just release R2 and run towards the loose ball?
I didn't experience catch up bug too, when I am full sprinting (double tapping R1), using the right player and given space, I could leave 'em behind

Anybody can elaborate more on this?
Cheers.

There's nothing really wrong with the depth of the presentation aside from sound (which is pretty dreadful at conveying a stadium-like atmosphere). The whole lack of stadium arguments is incredibly shallow.

Granted I have problems with the game but this is getting annoying now. There's room for improvement of course but if presentation bothers you go with Fifa like everybody else who cares about shit like that does. Sorry to be so blunt but it needs to be said.

I was never a fan of PES' highest difficulty. All I ever saw was more pressure and constant running from CPU players. So you always had 3 players hounding you all over the pitch. It didn't feel smart at all. Because of that, there was more space left at the back and always easier to score.

Easier to score on Superstar? Certainly not. Not on PES 2014 anyhow. I can't really comment on other releases as I've been a FIFA guy for awhile now.

Haven't bothered with superstar in 2014 apart from the leaked demo and 1 game in retail tbh. Need to get to grips with the game first then I'll try superstar. Quite satisfied with professional though as always.

Good man.

It's already the best representation of football I've seen in a game, but if they sort out the cursor change and make passing a little more responsive then I'll be extremely chuffed.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

even weirder...when i launch youtube to try it now it says it is blocked by EMI for copyright infringement...do you have a song in the backround?

Yeah, I used The Joker, by the Steve Miller Band. Hence the reason it probably went Private and then Removed. :(

Not to worry, I got more footage last night, as the game had me up till bloody 7am this morning. One.More.Game. :CONFUSE:

It's all about budgeting, presumably. There's not a bottomless pit of money set aside for PES - I'd bet there is for FIFA. You could argue that there should be, but if you think you're a better businessman than the suits running Konami, why not start up a business and make tons of cash?

Tbh I couldn't really care less about the off-the-pitch rubbish. You've conceded that the small team has made a better-playing football game, and with far fewer resources than EA! That's pretty satisfying to me.

Note: I'm not a PES fanboy. PES died for me after 5 and 6. However I'm giving 2014 a good look. :BOP:

Also, I sussed how the new Heading system works and I really like it. Hold the Shoot button then aiming in the direction you want, but releasing the Shoot button just as you're about the connect is excellent. Kind of mimics the technical set-up of real-life. Not tried the Triangle downward header option yet. That's next on the list.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Which exact TV you have (brand, size)?

It's a 40-inch Sony Bravia, about three years old.

Pere mate. what TV are you using and what are your settings? It may have something to do with your brightness and contrast I would play around with that not sure if you can adjust it. previously the people playing on CRT TVs had issues with this.

Yeah, I had the same problem with PES when I still had a CRT, but upgrading to HD fixed it. Now I'm back in the darkness. I've been messing around with brightness and contrast (and the backlighting, too) but it's not getting much better. I've got to take this telly back to the shop soon anyway (5-year guarantee, thankfully) because the panel is fucked, it's got vertical banding. Might be connected with that somehow.

I could do an Italian league as Napoli, I suppose, because the Escorpiao looks a lot like the San Paolo and doesn't have pitch shadows. Otherwise I'm not sure what to do re. playing a league.
