Well... I said pretty much exactly the same thing about Fifa 14 PC/PS4... but we won't get into that here. At least I'm not going to; unlike what I was talking about in the Fifa thread, here it would be rather
:OT:

I'm still not following why I'm the pot calling the kettle black.

I love the details about new ball physics. Finally! Graphics is good enough for me, that's the last of my concerns about PES. Can't wait to see the new ball physics and animation system. Dis gon b gud guys.

That box cover art shows the detail we were expecting from the screenshots. I just dont think they have landed fully on textures and everything. Since the bayen pics look far better than the santos one. While looking at the screenshots on the box art ribery's detail is at unprecedented levels and robben looks lifelike while you can see the awesome emotion animation of muller and the santos player and the new player model of lahm. PES is all about the small details.

These screens on the cover remind me Pes 2010. Lighting is exactly the same in Pes 2010. Look at the players, how they runnung, the same motion like in ver 2010 :( Lami are you ready to kick your ass? :D

Nope ;)

I'm surprised you can see animations in a still ;)

the gta comparisons are so off-base. pes is a yearly franchise with a direct competitor, by not releasing nextgen they are handing the sales, foothold and mindshare of nextgen over to fifa.

They're still making good money from current-gen install-base. Moving to next-gen install-base too early wouldn't be as profitable. If people were wowed by 2014 believe you me they'd be craving for 2015 next-gen. Fifa always sold more so that saying doesn't hold much water anymore. People kept saying the same about current-gen Fifa/PES and guess what, PES is still solid. A good game will always sell, and one with a massive fanbase will too. Couple those two together and you have a sure-buy.

and releasing a nextgen game doesnt mean you have to fork out money for it. not sure what relevance that comment has
Really? So releasing a next-gen version is free? Will I get a free PS4/Xbone with a free copy of PES 2014? I already own a PS3 & 360 so I'm happy I wouldn't have to fork out for a next-gen console to play 2014.

I honestly believe a lot of people need to get their eyes checked if they're confusing the pics posted with PES2013.It is so obvious that it's not the same game, better textures, better lighting and much better coloring for starters.
Graphically it looked already much better, the press details is promising but I remain neutral, my hopes aren't high nor low.So far so good from Konami, can't wait for video footage and most importantly the demo

@Lami_Z the way it moves makes PES 2013 look like it was made by a different company. Such a difference, and different way of animating.

;)

I couldn't care less about next gen yet. I have a powerful PC and a PS3.
Depending on how good PES and FIFA games are I usually choose to download one for PC (to mod it) and buy one for PS3 (to play online). I don't understand all this sudden desperation to get EVERY GAME on consoles that haven't even been released. You don't know whether they (the consoles) will be a letdown or they will be outstanding.

I've had an XBOX 360 from 2008 till 2011, then I sold it. Last year I bought PS3. So I particularly have no rush whatsoever in getting PS4 nor XBOX ONE at least for another year.

I'm quite surprised at the extreme opposite views here.
Some saying screens are obviously different to 2013 while others saying no difference at all. Those saying no difference, you cannot be serious. Can't see the difference in lighting? Are you playing a modded HD PC version by any chance?

I do. I play PES 2013 with ENB Series, and Jenkey's HQ Patch and I gotta say my PES 2013 are far better than these screenshots of PES 2014.

All this talk about photo-realistic graphics.... for nothing. I really thought it would be hard to tell the difference between reality and the game itself. But as someone else said, it looks like PES 2013 with a different lighting and running on a low-specs PC or with low LOD setting. I thought the faces would be shocking. The only shocking thing are faces expressions.

You know what scares me the most? That I actually believed in you, Lami, when you kept saying "wait till you see it" and stuff like that... I thought "he sounds so confident about it, that IT'S GOTTA BE TRUE!". Now I don't know what to expect from real gameplay videos, because you talked about that too. I mean, if I already got dissapointed by the graphics, then I'm sure gameplay will depress me, lol.

You know what? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, because I'm still hoping that once we see the whole thing in motion, it will look/feel incredible.

I cannot stop finding weird that some gamers feel gutted that the game might not be released on the next gen. We're talking about consoles no one has bought yet and not a lot of people will buy in their first years.

That's what I'm saying brother!

Ok. There's one thing to have extremely high and almost impossible on this-gen expectations, and there's realistic ones. I don't even think we'll have 1:1 lifelike copies even next-gen. We can come close yes but I'm realistic. This is still a games console with limited specs. If you seriously thought you absolutely can't tell the difference between real-life and game pics then don't know what to tell you.

For what we have now and what we had before, this game is surely on another level. Really don't know what else to say apart from I hope people be realistic with their expectations regarding a current-gen gaming console. Some of you are already making this out to be such a disappointment from a few low-res screens. It's nowhere near what you're making it out to be.

But hey, really, taking the words out of Adam's mouth, read my post above.

And yes, wait.

I understand what you're saying Lami, but they've created these expectations themselves by saying "close to photo-realistic graphics" and such...
They can't say that and then hope for people not to expect too much.

That no one has bought... YET. I am planning on buying a next gen console on release so why would it be weird for me to want to play a next gen PES on it?

I'd find it weird if gamers were NOT wanting to see their favourite franchises appearing on next gen consoles. Instead they said "Hey I'm buying a next gen console, but you know what... I don't want ANY of my favourite games to be released on it!"

:CONFUSE:

I want to see all my favourite games making the transition to next gen ASAP. It justifies the purchase to have loads of games there, it means I don't need to keep my current console around if I fancy playing PES. It also provides a lot more excitement of what ifs with new tech. Are they going to have 3D crowds, what about pitch deformation, Kits that get wet or muddy in different conditions. Yeah they're fluff things, but they add SOOOOOO much to the game.

Instead I get the feeling that come next gen, Pes 2015 will just be a port of this. A game created with the last generation of hardware in mind and all the restrictions that came with it hampering what could have been.

This may come as a shock to you but... MAYBE KONAMI ISN'T THINKING ABOUT YOU!. Have you ever stopped to think about that?. MAYBE KONAMI HAS TO THINK ABOUT A LARGE MAJORITY OF USERS/CLIENTS/BUYERS.

PES on PC/360/PS3 - Fox Engine (they said they didn't just want a higher res version made for next gen consoles (but that'll be the case for the PC version no doubt) so the PC version should be the stand out version for this year. The engine is scalable so we'll be playing the same engine with graphical differences (hopefully it runs on the PSP as well you'd imagine and then phones at some point)

Onto Next Gen they'll likely use the engine as a base and will work on tweaking it from there to take it to the next level (a bit like ignite engine) and we'll see what they deliver either next year or in 2015 it's going to be a while I reckon.

Porting this game to next-game consoles would mean less resources working on the current gen version. That's not a good situation.

but the engine running it is still ''next gen'' at it's core, the PC version will be like running a PS4/Xbox One version of the game...

I doubt anyone is specifically working on the next gen(PES 2015)yet. Seems after PES 2014 is released Konami will start "scaling" the game up to create PES 2015 for release in Fall 2014 for next gen consoles.
Simple really and makes complete sense.

+1 , i agree .
but when i saw screen , i say "wow" , because many things changed , but was sad when i remember words from EDGE magazine ...
But it's only pictures , i wait videos and demo for judge gameplay , because graphics is really good , even if not "photorealistic" ... and we can improve graphics with mods on pc (faces , kits , crowd ...) it's not a problem ;) , but animations it's impossible , so i hope they have done big improvement as said in press release
also i hope Konami can release some high-resolution screen from gameplay cameras .

I don't like some kit models , they looks like FIFA , logo distortion and seems big near underarms

People who say these screens are the same as pes 2013 must have a bad eye for detail. And I don't get the complaining on small graphical details. As for me I could even go with ps2 graphics as long as the gameplay is stunning. On ps2 you could at least see who had his shirt tucked in or not during gameplay.

+1000

I'd understand the frustration better if the next gen consoles were on the market for several months to a year.Releasing it on the xbox one/PS4 this year wouldn't have been a guarantee of quality.I don't get how you can feel wronged already when you do not even possess the next gen console.

They can't say that and then hope for people not to expect too much.

But aren't they? I mean for a current-gen console I think it looks pretty good really. That Ribery face looks so good imo. And that Bayern crowd.

EDIT: I'm not sure I can even compare my console versions with modded ones. Maybe you guys had better details that wasn't possible on a console. So you might've been ahead already HD-wise and LODs and whatever you guys have. For console users this FOX engine opened up much better possibilities, pushing consoles to new limits.

But then the PC boys will always get a better version, with your modding and all. How good will a modded 2014 on FOX Engine look on PC? Maybe in a year time if you compare that with your currently modded 2013 you'll surely throw your 2013 version in the bin.

The first photo (Allianz Arena) actually looks like real life, thanks to the good lighting. Only when you look to it very closely you notice the differences.

The atmosphere is definetely better, and it needed to be improved. I'm sure that when we see it live in action and hear the crowd chanting we'll be blown away by how much they've improved the atmosphere.

But the rest of the on-the-pitch parties look the same as PES 2013 except for a little change on lighting effects (which didn't improve too much IMO). I thought faces would be super HD, kits would be amazingly realistic in terms of how they look on the player's bodies. I mean, look at Robben, they didn't even bother to make the kit tight on him like he usually uses it.

And I'm fine with it... all I'm saying is that they raised the bar themselves talking about close to reality graphics, creating a tremendous expectation when all they should have said something like 'graphics will be improved but the gameplay is our main aim and it'll be great'. Don't you agree?

Why on earth are you angrily shouting at me? Why does it upset you so much that I would have like a next gen version to play? Wow, you scare me, in a disturbing way.
It's not a shock they're not thinking about me at all, they haven't given a toss about their fan base for years. Zing!

I don't feel wronged, I'm not worse off on any way. I feel disappointed at their lack of ambition or ability. The fact I don't own the console yet is irrelevant. I AM going to own one so want to know what's coming that I can spend my money on. The same way people arent buying a WiiU due to a lack of games.
Hell I'd take a digital only direct port with the improved graphics/frame rate etc at this poiny and be fine with that if its a financial issue.

As for a guarrentee of quality.
It would of had just as much a chance as this current version does.

Sorry it wasn't my intention to seem like I was shouting at you. I just wanted to emphasize my point.
I'm not mad at you for being able to have a PS4 or a XBOX ONE, are you kidding me? I'm not 11 years old, bro. Actually, I'm not getting one right away because I want to see if it's worth it, I'll probably wait a year or so.
