that link literally disproves what you are saying :PIRATE:
My point is that 90% of all stadiums contained in PES 2013 are atleast UEFA category 3 stadiums. So why should KONAMI implement flexible pitch sizes if it's not going to be used in most of their stadiums anyway? Depending on the size of the pitch there would need to be longer / shorter adboards, the AI would need to adapt etc.

FIFA != UEFA

I think some scepticism here is understandable and in way unavoidable given some of the crack-brained decisions that Konami has/hasn't made in recent years.

The decision to utilise the new engine sounds very promising and i hope that, even if it does not give us everything we would like to see in this years iteration, we will see enough progress to be hopeful about what may follow. Obviously, the minimum that anyone should expect is a superior all-round game to PES 2013.

I am a little bit concerned about the way that certain things may be implemented though. This hint that players will be affected by the home crowd sounds good on paper but i could see this becoming a real pain in the arse if all it really meant in reality was that the players under your control dropped some attributes simply because the volume of crowd was loud and getting on a players back when playing away from home. Basically, i fear that this could end up being some form of crass stat boosting/degeneration for players that could play out badly on the pitch and lead to all sorts of cries of "scripting" during games. I'll keep an open mind on this as its all nowt else but speculation but Konami has some form here with the boots fiasco and, whilst this is no where near as bad an idea, i think it could have the same practical effect if poorly implemented.

But players are affected by where they play and how the game pans out£ imo the entire game must be able to swing on momentum due to injury to key players, or conceeding an untimely goal or just seeing a team up the ante. It happens daily in the real game but as been mentioned konami will have to be clever on the implementation.

As for scriptedness it has to be in a game no matter what genre. I am looking forward to meeting the barca whores online and being able to take them on with the likes of Espanyol. Currently its heavily scripted in favour of the stronger team no matter how poor or unskilled the player is controlling the team.

PES 2011 had a great balance. You could mark messi or Ronaldo out the game. Since the speed merchant card or the inability of a defender to catch up to a striker or the catch up bug has been removed, the online play is broken.

Seriously how often do you see a striker simply outrun a defender and not be caught again.

The article is promising but probably, we will have huge online scripting..

You know what worries me the most? It's the fact that they actually believe that their biggest fault with current gen (from PES 2008 to PES 2013) has been the Online mode. This line was terrifying for me:
Konami learnt from the harsh transition from PS2 to PS3. “Our biggest struggles were with online play,” says Masuda.

It's like they won't admit that for 5 years their game sucked. It felt robotic, scripted and full of flaws.

Konami listen my thougts :) :BOP:

"Konami is investigating new editing tools and “a better environment” for players to share their editing data, too."

Sounds like we won't ever be able to crack their formats to edit stuff to our liking like we've done since forever... the fact that "they will GIVE us the TOOLS to EDIT" scares me.

New tool to edit scare You? Don't forget that most of people play Pes on consoles and new tool to edit is the one of the best decision by Konami. I'm really happy :BOP:

Agreed. Think I'd feel more optimistic if Konami came out and said, "Yea, sorry, PES 2008-2013 were shit offline and online. PES 2014 and beyond will be a different story though..."

Bullshit because if it was true they won't create game from scratch with totally new physics engine with totally new animations and graphics.

You can't expect them to come out and say that though, I mean some people like those games and its not wise for the actual PES team to over rule those opinions which would probably make a few question what they say in the future and possibly a loss of sales.

You should be able to read between the lines really and that's what most of us 'hardcore' communities do.

BTW does Suff and Adam still do WENB Podcasts in weeks/months leading into the new release?

I agree with what you are saying.

All i mean is that if this whole momentum thing is done poorly or implemented in a really unsubtle way like player attributes just dropping or increasing then it could be really frustrating and cartoonish. I'm keeping an open mind about it. After all, what else can we do until we actually play the game?

I would also like Konami to focus on what may affect the actual human player in terms of pressure and atmosphere. Give us more realistic crowd reactions relating to whats happeining in the game which could build pressure simply through noise levels, better and targeted commentary, greater sense of occasion, etc. Make individual games feel less generic.

They still put out a podcast now and then. Asim and Alan do them now. Not sure if Adam can appear on the podcasts with his new role. I guess he will at some point.

Suff tends to rock up around the time of the first media play-test event and is never seen again.

Well, yeah agree on the sripted needed only if the implementation is appropriate, subtle. But in the sense of being based on what we do in the pitch.

One example is to maintain zero fouls for 30 mins .. then our defender can get their rating being boosted slightly for the rest of the game until a foul is made, then it should go back as before.

Another example is doing a pass without interception for 5 mins inside opponents half, then the stats of attacking play is boosted slightly.. a.k.a because of confidence..

I mean countless of possibilty "scripted momentum" can be made.. that can benefit the two players, either using a big team or less skilled one.. of course doing such a challenge with lesser team will add more effort, but that's the challenge isn't it ?

One example i would really love to happen is that individual player should gain more confidence, boost every stats he has, if he can clean tackle Messi, Iniesta, for 3 consecutive trial

Boost stats, if can get busquet injured :JAY:

PES 2013 despite it's massie flaws, for the first time, after PES changed hands from Seabass, showed some promise, improvement and going down to basics (like going back to player individuality, etc.)

All other aspects, despite gameplay, are still lagging LOTS compared with FIFA (I will just say, online modes on FIFA, are offering quite a lot to chose from and that is only 1 aspect). I can say that openly.

I don't like the "scripting" sound. Hell no. This should NEVER exist in ANY sports game. Especially in online games!!

Outcome should always be decided by: player skill on the other side, team at player disposal, player current mental state, etc. - yes, player as in "you" playing the game.

I will now hate to think that the ball didn't go into net, because, game decided so and not me or my fault, or that my dumbass defender I didn't ask to, did slide tackle on a player without ball at his feet, getting red card, etc.

Catching my drift? It's quite ridiculous. :/

Also even though I am looking forward to see new engine in action, I have slight concerns and worries.

Btw when did PES Team start working on using FOX for Pro Evo? 2-3 years ago? I will NOT believe they started working on it last year, because it will bring only catastrophe in the end...

Does anyone here remember that Fox Engine for PES was supposed to be released last year? Then they postponed it to this year?

Think about it for a bit. They can't have started working on it only last year :)

i know it's three years they are working on it, right?

I want to hear something about demo.Pes 2013 demo was released 25th of July.I hope Pes 2014 demo will be released in July again..

Yeah Konami where in a position to push out demos early because they had this rickety old engine being tweaked to the nth degree but now with Fox engine derivative the timelines are not going to be the same.
Also may be wise to keep the cards close to the chest beause EA plagiarism is simply astounding.

Didn't PES Team say there will be only 1 demo this year? I assume if it's true, the demo will be available no sooner than in September (like FIFA one).

It may come out good for KONAMI. ;)
