PES 2014 Discussion Thread

Ah well, it'll happen when it happens. PES isn't the big deal it use to be and I think Konami knows that. People aren't sitting around pining for it anymore. All in good time though.

After seven years of disappointment I couldn't care less any more. Whatever will be will be in the world of PES.

I'm sure PES2014 will deliver much needed change but I'm not impatient for news like I used to be. October is a long way off and that's the only time a PES game can be accurately assessed given Konami's penchant for unrepresentative demos.

Thats a sad truth given how beloved this game was during the PS2 days. Hard to believe they never really got it together for the current gen after so many years. But you know what, I still couldn't make the switch to FIFA despite all the improvements. PES/WE or no footy game for me I guess.

yep ,still playing pes 6 just for the fun factor no scripting and great multiplayer

I try/buy FIFA most years, although I haven't touched it since FIFA11. It's missing something, and until it gets whatever that 'thing' is I can't play it.

PES/WE series died in PES6. All game after pes6 were a disaster. Lets hope that Konami will wake up in next gen consoles...

New interview.

Which aspects are Latin Americans seeking to improve or see in future Pro Evolution Soccer?

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to go to Dubai in November where I was presented with the new engine, and I have to say I almost get a tear. It really is amazing what we have done with this new engine and will be a game-changer. And by this, I mean in the form of playing all video games, not just of Pro Evolution Soccer.

PES is definitely going to be much better than the competition, any other sports game, and also any first- person game. The truth is that PES 2014 will have amazing animations and graphics.

The truth has been told.

Now it can't be stopped

Why did he have to say that last paragraph?? Now i feel that its not that good because its all hype like previous years where they have to sell false hope onto a mediocre game. I like pes 2013, but lets be honest, theres no way it can be compared to many other sport games or first person games. I doubt a new engine was all that it was missing

the last paragraph is some sort of WUM, no videogame review should be like that, should use expression" bring tears to my eye".It directly makes me skeptical

Actually I don't think it's that strange. Come to think about... from PES 2008 to 2013 they were juicing out the most out of a dated engine, they really took the most out of it, but not much else could be done with it, specially in the graphics and animations area. So a new engine could JUST what was missing. If you don't believe it, take a look at FIFA. The old engine (PS1, PS2, and the old PC days) there was no way they could beat International Superstar Soccer, or any of the games from Winning Eleven saga. But when they got a new engine it was better than Konami's right from the getgo. I'm really confident with the upcoming PES, like I haven't been since they moved from PES 06 to PES 2008.

From FIFA 08. Now FIFA is going through something similar, they can't do a lot more with this engine, so they have to limit themselves to update stuff (career mode, online modes, rosters, kits, etc) and maybe change a little bit of the illumination and shadows to make graphics seem 'different'.

The last paragraph of that interview could be just hype, or it could be reality. Why else would he say something like that? I mean, if it's a lie it's just TOO MUCH. He could have just say 'the changes are BIG'. Once we start seeing gameplay videos we will know right away they were lying and they would lose all credibility whatsoever. I think that's the last thing they need right now. So yeah, I'm trusting his words and I'm jumping on the hype van wagon.

il bet now that konami will reveal pes 2014 on or around the 25th of may to coinside with the champions league final,,theres no better time than the biggest club game of the year to show off the new engine and with the official champions league licence its a bit of A NO BRAINER

Indeed, it's hyperbole to the max. Dangerous words when you consider how good NBA 2K13 is. That's the benchmark and I would be very surprised if PES2014 can get anywhere near that level of excellence on a brand new engine.

It's a no brainer for the common folk however Konami (and PES in particular) marketing strategy and general PR has been terrible in recent years.

It's his work and it's normal that he talks that way.Remember what Murphy said last year or this year when talking about pes 2014 tech demos.
It's up to us to lower expectations and understand that it's just Pr talk.

If my expectations were any lower they'd be through the fucking floor.

The way theyre talking the metal gear fox engine wont be implemented to the extent that everyone thinks, read between the lines and its clear that in the press releases so far and over on wenb everyone is playing down the fox engine, i really think we will only see the real difference with the PS4 version

Fox Engine will be used for graphics like player faces, player models, stadium textures, lighting system, that's all.

The animation engine, the barycentre physics, etc have been created in house. A separate team worked three years on that part. It's all written in Edge reveal.
