'proper' manual doesnt mean the ball goes exactly where you aim at the exact power every time with no factors taken into account. it takes into account players stats and your EXECUTION (not decision) is altered by those stats, so things like balance, power, accuracy etc will all be handled diferently player to player

the difference with manual and assisted is that assisted changes/overrides what buttons you press, whilst manual absorbs what you press and then (based on player stats) determines how well that action will play out. huge difference

In ideal world, what you described would be be the semi-assisted or semi-manual setting.Manual would imply that stats play a lesser role if nothing at all in the execution of passes and shots.

in an ideal world that would be the lowest setting, because true 'manual' is totally dumb and shouldnt be included at all. imagine if every pass travelled at the same speed regardless of body position/first touch/interia, it'd be ridiculous

i have great respect for others opinions when they make sense. if someone isnt making sense i will call out their bogus. simple

You can call it out respectfully. No need to go down on anyone.

I'll be honest, I like manual pass as sometimes in the old PES, i want a ball passed to a certain player, but the computer mis-interprets that pass and gives it to someone else because they were close to each other.

But at the same time, it gets me thinking, when a pass that i want now (manual settings) doesn't land where i wanted it to...is it my fault, or is it the computers now? Before you can just blame the pc for making that wrong pass, now it might be actual people who just plain suck.

With that said, I understand there is a level of unfairness when there are both d-pad and 360 degree together in a game, but while some of you are arguing how it will lead to unbalance and problems, you do not see where Konami stated two years ago (correct me if i'm wrong), that PES should no longer be played with a d-pad. They will still have it, but it will lose out on a lot of the features and what the player can do. In other words, the game is now specifically programmed for the analog stick and if the player still chooses the d-pad, he'd lose out on the features.

So in conclusion, i think its great that Konami has both in the game for people to choose from, but don't feel that because d-pad is still there, it'd take anything away from the analog stick or the 360 degree controls. The limit is on the d-pad

if the game shouldnt be played with a dpad then they shouldnt have the option to play the game with the d-pad.

it's a balancing issue. d-pad limits some things but gains in others, namely unrealistic sharp turns because you can only move 8 directions (obviously we dont know how it is in practice, but its still going to be different and therefore unbalancing).

and also, im still at a loss for how d-pad works with PA settings. all these previews say "4bar passing is soooo free!"... but now someone can just use a dpad and remove all that free-ness? it's just another severe balancing issue

the demo will be released on August 27

In the demo version is expected teams like Bayern, Santos, AC Milan and Ajax, and the teams from Italy, Germany, Japan and England. There will also be represented by a pair of stages: Allianz Arena, Juventus Arena, Vila Belmiro and Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium. In the demo version, as we already know will be available only friendly matches.

sorry for my bad english

haha, FIFA does state that China is the place that invented Football and England as the place that invented modern football.

now back to the d-pad discussion, They still have it in because some players still use it, and they want to keep it in just for those to play, that's it. Just like having more teams cause some people enjoy them more than others.

As for the balancing issues, I don't quite understand it either cause I'm no programmer, but I don't use d-pad, so I don't really have to care about how it works. haha, I'm sorry, I'd rather focus on other things I care about like goalkeepers, shooting, etc. If those are balanced with ball/player physics, then that's fine with me.

You still wanna skip it but in all likelihood you won't

I'll skip it, don't want to play 5 minute-friendly-matches with unfinished code. Between the demo and the final game it's probably just a month... it will be four-five long weeks though:)).

like i mentioned, how likely is it that it takes ms and sony 4 weeks to approve a demo? doesnt sound accurate to me

approval of games (any) take's 5-10 days tops
game devs are allways hiding behind approval process
but its very short

yes, that time time frame sounds more accurate to me.

so with that in mind i think its fair to expect the demo on the 13th/14th/15th (tues, weds, or thurs.... i forget which days sony and ms update)

there cannot be any waiting around for a specific date by konami because Adam Bhatti tweeted: "out of our hands now"..... which means they are solely waiting on sony and ms to approve

i think demo comes after gamescom (like last year?)
hope earlier:)

I think demo 1 for PS3 came out about 25 July last year and Gamescom wasn't until the middle of August, so it's been done before:)) 21 Aug seems most logical to me though this year.

1) it was BS, nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade
2) it wasnt my opinion. d-pad has no movement of depth because it is a digital button. that is a fact
3) true. that is an argument. but i see nothing wrong in presenting arguments and putting them out there to others to tackle -- which no one successfully did.

dont understand why mods need to bump in unnecessarily and stop people talking on completely relevant topics.

Not a fact. Dualshock 2 and Dualshock 3 have analog d-pad. Learn some facts (but yes still in 8 directions :P).

any thing to back this up? i would be very interested to read about this, because i dont think have ever encountered a game which took use an analogue d-pad, and i'd be very curious to see how well it would work in practice (which i highly doubt it would for a football game)

The problem with D-Pad, at least in current PES games, is that favours Speed Merchant abusers. It's so much easier to pull those abrupt turns with only 8 directions. I had lots of online nightmares with Pato, Mphela and Barreto...
