I know what i read
Even if Pes 2013 launched one week before Fifa 13 it changed nothing in UK

correlation does not mean causation

you look at the release dates and then look at the sales and think they are the only 2 factors involved, and that is why you dont know what youre talking about. i'm out

One week or two changes nothing, it's not like one-two months

Anyway it's a bad strategy in KONAMI case. To release Pes 2013 quicker they actually released a game with many missing options added later with several patches.

@thedoctor76
It's a real picture from an Italian store but Italian sales situation is absolutely not like that. Pes is a lot closer to Fifa in Italy. It's UK where Pes is almost disappeared.

So that could easily be a shot from a UK store. ;)

but then you look at south america and japan, where pes sold more than fifa i'm sure, and by my maths, i think south america and japan is a fair bit bigger than the uk ;)

Pes is silently gaining grounds and making some smart business decisions with licenses, just because it doesn't sell well in certain parts, doesn't mean it doesn't sell well everywhere.

Sadly i know people who purchase fifa purely on licenses, which i think is wrong reasons to buy a game personally, I'd rather go for gameplay over licenses anyday.

Yes, Pes in Brasil is HUGE. It's the first selling videogame in Latin America.

PES' sales were very low last year - this image may or may not be real, but I think it's an approximate summing up of the situation:

I think the sales will be a lot closer this year, especially on the PC and the 'CG' machines.

FIFA for f*cking crying girls! PES - judges of the game!

Equally there are people who don't buy FIFA just because its called FIFA and they are loyal till death to PES regardless of how bad it plays.

For me the games look close this year looking at screenshots but I think EA are just ticking over now until NG, the game is good as it is for its followers so no sales risk for me, then I expect them to blow PES out of the water on the PS4..time will tell

I'll be loyal to PES when Konami pays me a salary. The reason I don't like FIFA is because it doesnt play like real football and their are no tactics invlolved. I play PES and i enjoy it because its th best football game on the market for me.

I hope PES 2014 is an amazing game and I hope FIFA14 is even better, because then as a football fan my craving will be truly satisfied.

Becaase we are all football fans first and foremost.

With the demo getting announced this week, hmm.. don't know what them EA money bags will do to divert attention.

Disingenuous argument. Everyone who's honest (non-fanboys of either franchise) understands that FIFA appeals to young online gamers who prefer a fast-paced arcade gaming experience. EA intentionally designs FIFA and all their sports games to play that way, in order to attract that particular group of consumers. Why? Because that group makes up probably 85-90% of the consumer market. Bottom line, the vast majority of gamers buy FIFA because of the licenses, and because of the "fun" (easy arcade) style of gameplay. That's the reality, period. Whereas Konami designs PES to play as a football simulation. PES gamers buy PES mostly for the gameplay realism, and not because of licenses obviously.

I won't; not unless Fifa 14 PC pulls out some late surprises. Which I very much doubt.

Well... there's a strong rumour (I don't know if it's been officially confirmed already) that FIFA 14 gets the Champions League License. I don't know how they are implementing it, if as a separate mode or as a separate game or what... but that means Konami lost it, which is dissapointed.

Oh man, these are words. After 7 years of pure piss-taking.. or if you prefer, paid a game 7th times its value.
After all this money, are you satisfied to have played to a half game, and you're unconsciously projected to see nextgen one as the real revolution?
It's a honest behaviour to say in the very moment they are releasing pes 2013 "next year you 'll see what is called a football game.."? Do you feel mocked or are you happy about?
Sony has made what was worth to mend to her wretched console hardware with the new one, tracing a new way in videogames and costs.
Now, if konami wants to be forgiven, i expect at least to find great facilities in edit mode to balance out encrypted edit data and the fact that kitserver will be useless.

completely fake
KONAMI has still the CL and EL rights
just look at the official pes 2014 cover (the artwork is not final yet but logos are there)

When creating a team's shirt in Edit mode, "all" parts will be able to be edited.
Interestingly, Hosoda says the new process will be very similar to how Konami create their kits for licensed teams.
Additionally, we were told these edits [entire option files?] will be "easier to share with other users".

When creating kits, users will be able to add more detail as Hosoda told us PES 2014 will introduce "bigger" kit resolutions (currently stands at 128x128).
Hosoda said this has been done because Konami "have to prepare for the next generation". We were told an exact figure but we must wait before disclosing this information.

If that's true (which I doubt), it wouldn't be enough to make me buy Fifa 14. I don't buy games for licences.

Thanks zefira, i expect something too from league editor, which I find the most interested part to link to great competitions. i can't figure out to play an AFC CL without at least J League..but this is konami.

from this article, we will have J-League in PES 2014

Besides the repetition of competitions such as Champions League, Europa League, Copa Libertadores and the debut of AFC (Asia Champions League), we have the return of the J-League PES.

and you can check Leagues and Cups list here.

OK, I'm not saying it's 100% true. But Fifablog.be announced on their twitter that Fifa14 will have the Uefa Champions League

Well, it's wrong.
Quote from KONAMI: "PES 2014 will also mark the first appearance of the recently-signed Asia Champions League, adding a wealth of officially licensed clubs to the competition; and the new game will also exclusively retain its use of the UEFA Champions League club competition, with other tournaments expected to be announced shortly."

Game must be relased as early as possible. In november,Next-Generations consoles will be out and all attention will be on them..And next-gen Fifa 14 will be relased too..I think early relase date for Pes 14 would be wiser..

I'm not sure the timing of the release date is particularly important anymore. FIFA and PES are kind of aiming at different types of football gamer. If the game is good and appeals to it's target audience it will sell well. Also, next-gen doesn't mean much right now. Attach rates will be very low for the first year or so.

FIFA is aimed at a more casual demographic so will always sell exceptionally well. Always has always will. PES is more of a niche alternative. It still sells in very good numbers despite that.

What I would like to see is both Konami and EA working towards August/Early September releases of their respective football titles in order to tie-in with the start of the European League seasons.
