My problem with FIFA keepers is they seem to attract the ball. Certain animations always result in save, so you get that dull numbing sense where you can predict the outcome before it happens, and thats absolutely the worst for any football game.

PES keepers are more organic, in the sense you don't know how a shot will end up keeping you on your toes. However, apart from last year which were fine for me, they have far too much trouble holding onto weak shots. Too much fumbling of the softest of shots.

FIFA has its near-post OP and it's driven(power) shot as it two failsafe ways to score. No football based locomotion, that works, in their keepers as of this yr.. They need work harder to balance their keepers b/c of this.
agree with u, but mostly, i'm a pes fan since ISS 1998, the latest pes game i liked was pes5, and pes 2010 worldcup edition, the last of the old gen gameplay games, i wish they could be back mixing new animations with the old gameplay.

Just waiting for pes to get put on steam so can get that out the way and start the countdown.

FIFA has its near-post OP and it's driven(power) shot as it two failsafe ways to score. No football game seems to have had gks that are both realistically believable and yet reliable when they should be. The thing w/ FIFA gks is they are not restrained by physics. They go from standstill to full throttle with no momentum penalty. PES does have momentum and step based locomotion, that works, in their keepers as of this yr.. They need to work harder to balance their keepers b/c of this.

Absolutely; Fifa has its failsafe goalscoring methods as well, no doubt about that.

If you like PES 2008-2013 then you don't watch real football..

YouTube - Iker casillas â— Best Saves Ever â— 2002 - 2013 HD

Sorry for offtopic but if you play arena mode in FIFA you will see what is the real goalkeeper...

PES needs a lot of animations for goalkeepers...Like FIFA...

The goalkeepers in PES are robotkeepers...They fall down with chest..

YouTube - PES 2013 - Penalty shootout [Milan vs PSG]

YouTube - Fifa 13 Penalty Shootout.

FIFA's players models are like monkeys but it has many animations...PES needs these animations...

So in PES 2014 i expect many animations+better AI for goalkeepers..I don't want alien goalkeepers...

the thing i hate from an editing point of view every year with PES is the keepers sleeves are all set to short as default:RANT: does my nut in having to spend a couple of days to fix, there are only maybe 10-15 goalies in real world football that wear short sleeves, why oh why cant konami set long sleeves for the keepers as the default setting, do they even watch football????

Fifas changes each year, last year it wad dat OP finesse.. this year dat front post drive.. next year, chip shots?

Played a few games on the PES 2011 demo last night. Whilst not being that smooth, I think it had more variety in animations than the last couple of games. Some nice outside of the foot passes, nice variation in shooting and error, less floaty headers and the best 1 v 1 finishing animations. Absolutely love the way a player opens up his body to slot one past the keeper side footed.

I remember the keepers AI wasn't so good in the final game all the time, but at least they look like they are diving across the goal properly. Main problems I can see are the AI is too bunched together at times, the passing isn't as good as PES 2013, there is no double tap to initiate a tackle and you can't instigate a run with the right stick. So they improved certain things in the last game but removed some of the variety and freedom I felt from PES 2011. And the nets were actually white back then and the lighting good in the day AND night haha.

I also played some of Top Spin 4. It's not perfect but that's the kind of feeling I want from a sim based game. Hopefully we get something good with PES 2014 :) Although Gamescom in the 3rd week of August doesn't bode well for a demo to be released anytime before then does it :(

think thats a week later than fifa, which would be a terrible move

hopefully it's false and pes can release a week BEFORE -- around september 20th

Tell me why it's bullshit. Fifa 13 had the record of sales in UK, while Pes had the same sales, or lower.

and it probably wouldve been worse without the early release

there is nothing to say that will convince me that an early release over your competitor is a bad/pointless strategy

PES' sales were very low last year - this image may or may not be real, but I think it's an approximate summing up of the situation:

I think the sales will be a lot closer this year, especially on the PC and the 'CG' machines.

One week or two changes nothing, it's not like one-two months

Anyway it's a bad strategy in KONAMI case. To release Pes 2013 quicker they actually released a game with many missing options added later with several patches.

@thedoctor76
It's a real picture from an Italian store but Italian sales situation is absolutely not like that. Pes is a lot closer to Fifa in Italy. It's UK where Pes is almost disappeared.
