it looks like whoever made that picture lowered the quality of the real-life picture to match the game, had me fooled for a second. the biggest giveaway? body shapes.

The bottom image is a rendered pic.
If you take a screenshot of the HD gameplay videos that are out there you'll see it's not THAT amazing. There are a few differences between the rendered image and the one from the actual game.

Er, you mean the low-red GameSpot video?

For more than a second for me

ribery and the black guy are prominently positioned and i haven't seen body models anywhere close to as good as that from any pes 2014 video or screenshot, so it jarred me immediately. excluding that though, it wouldve fooled me for much longer!

if konami were clever they would put Bayern, Barcelona, Man Utd, PSG, Juventus, Porto, Santos and Atlético Mineiro in the demo.
All the domestic champions with the Copa libertadores winner and UCL winner.

* Santos cos they are in the E3 demo code already.

Most likely it will probably be just Bayern & Santos

Life without Fergie at Man Utd is proving tough huh? :P

Dunno yet; the season hasn't yet started - although I'm less than impressed with his man-management of the Rooney situation. And yes, I know you weren't replying directly to me. ;)

i dont care about graphics if the game will be shit

:COAT:

I am happy with what I am seeing for the moment:

- Graphical overhaul -> More realism
- Dynamics & Weight influence -> More realism
- Free ball physics -> More realism
- Player ID + Stadium details -> More realism

Now what's hard is to get that sweet spot between realism and fun that made this saga magical in the PSone/PS2 era. My concerns:

- Good keeping is hard to nail... and I believe PES6 got it right -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7rC82ihaoo Just load that code again into PES2014 and let us live with it :)

- Please fix that stupid AI bug by which randomly you will get your central defender break your defense line and run forward like crazy leaving a huge gap for the opponent. Can't stand it anymore :)

- I do not enjoy the idea of the visual indicator for FKs and CKs. It takes away the subtlety and makes it a less interesting process. Will have to wait until I try it though, but could live without it. Same applies for penalties.

- I remember great times playing PES 1on1 when there was the option to keep a track record of the games played between local users: you would store your data in your memory card, and the game would record the result and display the overall W/L for that pair of players. That was awesome, and the fact that every victory or defeat was there to stay made it even more addictive and made you care. Please bring that back.

- E3 footage seems to show that there might be a tad too much inertia at play: people keep losing the ball because they bounce against another player and it seems sprinting is a very risky move. I remember this happening with PES1 in PS2 and it became a bit annoying, hope they tone it down just a notch in order to make it a bit more manageable.

- I am still waiting for a game to take into account such an important thing as substitute's readiness to enter the pitch. I wish you could select which players would be exercising off the pitch during the match in order to be ready to enter: you select them in advance in the formation/strategy screen, if they exercise for too much their stamina will go down, if they exercise well their condition will improve a bit, if they do not exercise at all you risk a severe injury the first minutes they are playing. Simple element to implement, creates massive impact in strategy.

- I hope through balls are adjusted. It is normal for Pirlo, Iniesta, Özil or Xavi to set up unstoppable through balls now and again. It does not make that much sense for Khedira or Essien to be able to do the same. Please let the player make a difference.

- I am pretty excited about the "heart" feature. Mood and atmosphere makes a huge difference in football, and no game has reflected this as of today. PES has treated us to some severe "random" scripting in the past with impossible goals coming from the AI at the 90+ minute time and again. Here's hoping that this time the scripting responds to some in-game action, like an undeserved red card, a narrow miss that turns the audience up, a nasty challenge...

- On the tricks: I enjoy the idea of setting your body weight with the right stick and choosing the exit direction with the left stick. Seems intuitive for me. I don't like the random button combinations that result in a pre-scripted: it makes you memorize combinations "Street Fighter II style". I understand it may be harder to master tricks this way, but IMHO that's the way it should be. Only those willing to put the time and effort will be able to master these. The rest of us will have to rely on passing :)

- About stadiums: To be honest, I could not care less about the stadium of Elche, but would appreciate playing in some venues like the Westfalenstadion, Stamford Bridge, a proper Wembley, Emirates... It would also be awesome to fill in with some classics like Highbury, Munich's Olympiastadion...

- About player stats: Please bring back the hexagon!!! I can't think of what made them replace such an intuitive way of comparing players and stats with a cryptic ABCD system that blurs player differences. We need the hexagon back.

- ¿Remember the little small arrows that used to define which directions your player would have a tendency to move towards? You could use those to set up Overmars as a very wide winger while leaving Zidane as an almost center midfielder, both being placed at the exact same spot in the formation. Simple, effective... gone. Me wants back.

- I like the fact you can switch tactics in mid-game, a small label to remember which one was which would be appreciated :)

- Please remove the names from the top of the players and bring them back to the bottom of the screen, at each side of the radar. Please.

- I side with those that want full manual player selection when defending and full auto player selection when attacking. Can't understand why they took that out.

- It is amazing how in the gameplay footage you can see how the sunlight illuminates the ball and players when they cross those small gaps where the light sneaks in through the stadium roof. Amazing. Those little details show a definite amount of care that I hope is translated to the rest of the game.

That's it for the moment. Hype level has not been higher since Winning Eleven 7 International. :)

Konami never release rendereds screenshots . Videos-teasers YES, but screenshots , never. That is from the game.

Just made this capture myself from Youtube, from the Gamespot video. Of course it's gameplay. The lousy cameraman in the background is a big tell.

Also you can see the reddish hue of the previous image is clearly post-processed or applied via photoshop to make both images look more similar. Anyway, the resemblance is uncanny.

The E3 code featured toned down graphics... The released screenshot is probably from Fox Engine on PC / Next-Gen consoles.

i'm still laughing at this lol, because it's the most annoying thing along, with players turning into a messi, and dribble past 6 players and scores on 80-90 minute mark.pes 2013 is an awful game, i like pes 2011

eugh. i'd prefer it if events were decided by user input and context rather than scripted advantages to one team tbh

Amped up crowd atmosphere and interaction would be very much welcome though. It's incredible how much audio is overlooked when it has such HUGE impact on immersion. The same limp recorded crowd reaction to a goal has been in the game for like 10 years now.

many things should be adressed
1-shots go wide off target for no reason, even with assists
2-shots balloon to raw z even when only just pushing the square button
4-nets rigid as if steel reinforced, why fix a working thing from past pes?? pes 2011 ring the bell?
-the whole matchday experience should be adressed, shants are as if the supporters are outside the stadium.

That's what I was talking about! The red lighting won't be there in the actual game, I'm sure of that.

I don't agree.

The E3 code shows how the game will look like on release. Game companies never show builds of a game where the graphics are only half done. Also, that screen shot looks identical in graphics quality to the entrance scene in the E3 demo that was running on PS3 I think.

There isn't a next-gen version for them to show, and this definitely wasn't the PC version. Besides, I'd be surprised if Konami go to the trouble of upgrading the graphics of the PC version beyond the usual frame rate and resolution. I'd say character models, textures, lighting will be the same across the board. PC is still the version to own, it has greater resolution, frame rate, and modding. But these shots are console, and look awesome.

I think PC owners might have to wait until Konami release on next-gen before deciding to start making use of the PC's technology, but that's not to say it won't look even more amazing on PC. Besides, I think that half the point of Konami showing off PES2014 at E3 was to show off its engine and say "hey, look at our engine, it's so good that we've even got it looking this good on current consoles". I think it's a big bragging right for them, and rightly so.

from this article.
although PES2014 Code shown in Community Event was newer than E3 code, the graphics still not final.

Graphics

Graphically the game already looks incredible, and that is with out the final layers of polish being applied. The atmosphere and details of the stadiums were fantastic and I spent a fair amount of time watching the entrance cut scenes. Player faces are the best I have ever seen in a football game and the FOX Engine really does not disappoint on this front. There were some frame rate issues when you went from close up replays to normal camera angles during play but that has been fed back to Konami and we hope to see an improvement. Expect to be wowed by the visuals of this game overall though as it is very impressive.

I honestly how this game will look like from next year on, the results on this gen are already really impressive.

Very simple, the GameSpot video (which is badly compressed) was played with Daytime settings, while the screenshot (as with all other official PES 2014 screenshots) was taken in Nighttime settings.
