PES 2014 Discussion Thread

It's not hard to just say "I play it sometimes and I enjoy it". Come on, it's been 6 months since release, and he didn't even played once. A game which undoubtedly helped him to become a bit more popular. His words mean as he don't care about it.
If he says words like that then he's a liar fuelled by bias, much like Jon Murphy.

I'm sure if the question were "Do you appreciate the impact PES 2013 has had on your popularity?", I think the most likely response would be him thanking Konami and the PES team for giving him more publicity.

For all we know (unless he's said on Twitter or something), he might not even be a football fan or a gamer whatsoever... If I were a musician and EA came to buy a track to put in Madden or NHL I'd accept and take their money, but I wouldn't start playing a video game for a sport I neither understand nor enjoy because of it.

There's no point really to assuming either way about whether "Rednek" cares about or enjoys PES. That has no effect on Konami's or PES's reputation.

Regarding menu music, I'd sooner see a return to the Japanese techno of old rather than the crap in PES2013 (and FIFA too). Sure it was quirky and old school, but it was PES.

I kind of like the songs that the pesedit patch added.

Can we expect any news at GDC? Kojima will have a talk about Fox Engine, so it might contain some info even though not directly related to PES.

I like these especially:

YouTube - PES3 - WE7 Soundtrack Replay theme

I would be a happy guy if they maintained PES 2014 achievements, and added tons of new animations (and better ones), and also if they smooth-out the transitions between them, and of course give a massive update to the looks of the game, I'm not asking for 'photo-realistic graphics' as they claimed, but something better than what we've been getting from PES 2008 to PES 2013.

I would be a grateful guy if they also take Player ID to the next level in all aspects.
And I would be the #1 PES supporter if on top of all that, they did something big about weather and atmosphere.

Whats all this talk of konami losing the champions league, europa league and brazilian league licences ?? Heard rumours of EA paying uefa 4 times the amount konami pays to get a 5 year deal

Aren't EA struggling a little financially? While this wouldn't surprise me if true, I'm not sure even EA would pay that much, especially when you consider how much they must pay already for the EPL and Bundesliga.

75% of that couldn't be done without a new engine. That's the reason they're scrapping it all away in the first place.

Not sure that this has been confirmed officially (is any bid for a licence going to be made public though? I seriously doubt it) so its just rumour and speculation.

Konami did confirm before the release of PES 2013 that it had only extended the UEFA licence for one more year.

Oh shit, you might be right about Konami saying the licence was just extended for a year :(

Losing the Euefa licence would screw over ML completely. Getting to the Champions / Europa Leagues, with the extra atmosphere and licensing was the best thing about ML. It'll have absolutely nothing left.

Sure it adds authenticity, but in all honesty I couldn't care less whether they have it or not.

I appreciate it doesn't alter the gameplay but really, it would worsen the ML experience. Rather than playing the Champions League final with the official music, player entrances, official match ball, logos etc, you'd not care less if the mode was called something crappy like the 'Europe Cup' and had nothing about it to make it different from a regular game?

I'd never buy a game for licences but losing these would be huge for ML.

You make a good point really. Maybe I'd be more appreciative of it if I could get back to really enjoying a PES game again and thus really getting stuck into a master league journey again. It also probably doesn't help that I don't enjoying playing night time games in PES anymore due to way they look.

To be fair I get where you're coming from about night matches. I got tired of the constant rain in ML too, in fact I didn't even like way daytime games looked in 90% of the stadiums. The only pitches I liked playing were Benfica's stadium (day and night were both okay) and the Jose Zorilla at night.

The only PES I play these days are on my PS2. It's either WE8LE, WE10, or WE9AC (Some good 1st touch not seen in other PESs). I'm so used to this now I couldn't really care much about licenses. This gameplay went missing on next-gen. Perfect balance between sim and fun. Of course licenses add a lot of authenticity, but if it's one or the other I'd opt for gameplay 1st. And obviously, I'd like both.

Whether day or night matches, it's all good on these games.

I'd happily play with pure fantasy teams if the game replicated how football is played on the pitch well enough.

I would be very disappointed if Konami lost/didn't renew/got outbid (for) the UEFA licenses, I hope the rumour isn't true.

The little things are important.

I wouldn't be that disappointed as long as we have a great edit mode this year. But Jamez makes a good point about missing the standalone tournament option.

I'd be more disappointed that EA are raping the licences. It kills off any other developer from coming into the football game market with the way the current licences are being handled. No licences should be allowed to be exclusive IMO.

I would be disappointed if Konami is unable to hold on to the licences.

I like the way that the atmosphere of these games is differentiated from other games in Master League. The long term appeal of Master League is greatly enhanced by having these licences available (and the requisite attention to detail to create the atmosphere).

It wouldn't be the end of the world though. I played PES 5 to death and this didn't have the Champions League licences.

I am indifferent tbh. If the gameplay is good enough and the edit mode deep enough it is not a necessity. If I had to choose between league mode or CL mode I would go for the former.

What had the CL license really brought? You don't see advertising on the CL adboards? If the money spent on that outweighs the cost for developement on say sound Konami should drop it.

Naturally anyone would prefer the proper CL license, but from a gameplay standpoint the important part is the variety and sense of occasion. That could still be achieved with a made-up replacement, if done well.

There is something about the Champions League etc that makes me approach matches differently, its like in NBA 2K when you get to the playoffs, the mentality is different and you concentrate harder.

Maybe its just perception.

Nah. It's a management game from what I read here. If you ever played "Let's Make a Soccer Team!" you'll know what it is.

Here it is: famitsu.

Chrome browser translate to English, of course.
