Agree with you both chimps and zee, I'd love to see 2K make a football game but yeah the licences thing ruins any chance of that. You could make a game that's totally editable, with made up names and kits etc as Konami have done and allow the community to create files, but on a larger scale than PES does, but then there's stuff like licences paid for commentary names too.

As for EA, they for sure haven't needed to innovate recently as the competition has been near non-existent but unfortunately I can only see EA going down the route of microtransactions in future. I actually think FIFA on next gen might end up as a 'freemium' title like they did with Real Racing and Command & Conquer. Now that would suck. Imagine playing a league match and having to wait six hours before your team has recouperated long enough to play another game, or just pay 99p to play now.....because that's the way it's headed.

Would love to see that. I really Konami can nail it, I really do. I miss pes. Having to revert back to pes 6 for a my master league isn't what I want to be doing, really!

What things would you like to see in ML for PES 2014?

I have a ton of things.

- A more realistic schedule, just copy what each league does in real life. No more of Internationals on Friday and then a game on Sunday.
- Every league to have a second division.
- Be able to move teams.
- International Management.
- No more old players becoming youth players. Just have a random name generator and create players. If I am playing for a team in England, let most of my youth players be English.
- Transfers, They need to add a hidden rivalry or loyalty stat and reputation for a team and league. Someone who is playing CL football won't want to move to a team not playing it unless they offer a huge amounts of money. Everton will be reluctant and ask for more money from Liverpool if the reds are interested in a transfer. A captain or someone who has played for that team his whole career (Totti, Puyol, Gerrard) will be less likely to move away from his team, and will outright reject moving to a rival.
- Contracts, with player roles and no more of scouts doing the negotiations. Players demanding more money if they are outperforming their contract.
- Realistic fixture settings. midweek games at night, cup games being held at realistic times and a teams home ground, not a neutral site.
- The national Supercups
- REALISTIC PLAYER GROWTH! Too many players fulfill their potential and too many have a potential that is too high.
- Realistic form depending on the last 5 or 3 games. No more arrows. This would require a better rating system.
- Managers in each team with different personalities and ideas of how to play football. That way you get teams with identities.
- Matchday atmosphere. If you play with Wigan, a half empty stadium until you make it big would be great. But if you play with Chelsea, even when they struggle, the crowd should be very big. Better chants and relevant commentary to your current ordeals.

Well said sir.

Those are all things we have been asking Konami for for years now and they have never bothered their arse to listen. They are also EXACTLY the kind of things Konami should have been slowly implementing over the last few years to make the Pro Evo experience more realistic. I mean who gives a shit about "photorealistic faces" (which you never see apart from during replays) when you have no realism in almost every other aspect of the football season you're supposed to be immersing yourself in?

That entire list should not be too hard to implement into Pro Evo so why isn't it in there already? Don't they know how football works in the real world? They have completely ignored that kind of stuff for far too long.

This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say Konami must go back to basics and stop pissing around with gimmicky shit year after year. They've gone back to the drawing board with a new engine and that's great but they really have to sort out the basic stuff at the same time otherwise what's the point?

That's the reason I am slightly reserved about the next pes. We have no idea really how it will all turn out; going off the previous 6 years and all the crazy decisions that they made as a company. As much as I want them to succeed I don't see how a new engine will save them if it's the same team that have been producing the current pes over the last 6 years.

Indeed. Konami, Japonic for Bizarro World.

Imagine if quick free kick worked on pes14 that would be epic!!

EA with fifa online/offline modes and gameplay are miles ahead of konami sad to say but what there offering is what you would expect in 2013 going into 2014 football games

Where has konami gone so off track? I don't hold much breath for a return to top level pes football tbh every time we wanted a better next edition of pes 6 months before the next release we are all looking for improvements and they have rarely delivered over the last 3 years

How many patches has 13 needed how many patches will 14 need? It's 2013 and versions 3 5 even 7 years ago have played better than today's yet I'm sure technology in the gaming world has improved vastly since those great versions so why or where has it all gone wrong? 14 may have a new engine but its still in the same hands of the team who decided game testers were not needed for pes13 !

One thing is pes in its current state can't possibly get any worse so anything even 2v2 proppa would be a improvement / plus in the right direction!

Why would you expect the musicians who created the soundtrack to play the game? All of their tracks existed before PES - I don't know the exact process but Konami must have somehow bought the rights to use those tracks in the game.

They aren't buying a PR backing from the musicians as well.

Look at this list for FIFA:
http://www.fifplay.com/fifa13-soundtrack/

I can almost guarantee that not every name on that list has played FIFA.

Y'know, I'd just be happy if next ML included proper match scheduling, doing our own transfer negotiations, extra divisions and form arrows that aren't randomly generated.

As for the schedule issue, I say to myself that I'd be stunned if the new game still has the same problem but then it's been present in, what, at least the last three PES games that I know of. This is purely a design flaw and nothing technically related, which is a bit depressing.

All they've needed to do is arrange internationals to take place on Saturdays or Tuesdays, and have no domestic matches within three or four days of that date at least. Or just have a blank domestic week when internationals take place. There's room to do it, Konami currently squeeze all the fixtures and then have May as a virtually blank month once the season is over. I remember playing a cup final in ML with my entire squad shattered beforehand because they'd played an international friendly the day before. All it takes is for one Konami employee about an hour, with a pen and a calendar, to predetermine which games take place as default in the game.
