PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I think the slowing down of the animations, stop start stop start probably doesnt help the feel of it really, we've seen gameplay footage and how smooth it looks, so why are we discussing it being robitic? pointless really :)

Just watched the video - and I like almost everything I saw; surely now we'll have proper home/away support? Konami will look like complete idiots if they go on about the 'home/away' element of football but don't implement away fans' chants again! The only thing I don't like is the free kick system. It looks like you place the line where you want the ball to go, and that's where it goes; hopefully it can be turned off.

Come on Konami - ML news!

Yea, that could be it. Six years of clunky animations is enough. Hopefully they'll look the part this year.

yh u can turn it off but i dont like it at all shouldnt be there in the first place. and next week u will get info on modes online/offline hopefully if my guesing is as good as i think it is

This is looking brilliant, one thing Konami need to nick from EA though and that's the trick mechanics that EA came up with in FIFA 08 and beyond. Its much more intuitive to move the players legs with the right analog to form different tricks.

one of the better original EA ideas.

The tactics look exactly the same!

We can carry over from last year. Saving time, then again with all the new managers 95% of the teams have brand new systems this season anyway.

So for all those moaning about wanting TEAM ID (which is in the game anyway), pay attention to real world of tactics, they change so much Konami will make a effort to sort them all out only for their manager to be sacked and a brand new system coming in.

Team Play looks good, i wonder if you can set every team to have this?

The overall stat is still slighty too high
 
It is a video game, the animation will always look robotic in certain instance. That is least of my concern, even PES on PS2 look dated for it's time. But at least this year, for the first time ever it looks pretty damn authentic.

Regarding the freekick, there's genuine concern. But i don't think it will be that straight forward easy in final build. This is just an early feature trailer, of course they will only show the successful attempt. Same stuff with nutmeg last year when people thought it would be overpowered.

A playtester from WENB explained the dotted guide was included in E3 build because the free kick system now has been overhauled and there was no training mode. You need to use both sticks this time. Anyway i'm still hoping it will be disabled in competitive match.

Muller is underrated because he still an atypic AM, his real position his like an hybrid SS/RMF.
Seems that the overall rating are optimised, in PES 2013 it was very approximative and unbalanced. every RMF/LMF have very high global stats.
Robben and Ribery for exemple, just put the game and take a look, put some players who can play CMF, and put them in RMF.

It will be very good if in edit mode we have a system to create "generic players", in giving informations (like height weight, gravity center high or low, position, potential) which influe on some physical attributes.
And also preferences like "dribbling style", "running style" (prefer to run with or without ball or both), and other stuff, to have some models, with limitations like when you choose a strategy with the sliders, to improve or decrease some attributes.

Like and advanced "Fifa Creation Center".

I think that's the way Konami do their players, globally...
It will be very good to create championships without make the game too unbalanced, not like PSD for youngster or FM conversion.

We need benchmarks and limits to optimize and enjoy the ML.

Oh before i forget. I am not sure yet if there will be a new team of commentators. But notice how the heart feature will mean depending on the situation the commentry will have different things like a live commentry as tblhe action is happening. I know its pre recorded but looks like there will be more things to say other than same repetitive bullcrap.
 
Will we have the option to play manual passes and crosses without the use of extra button? No triggers i mean, just the pass button...

The "more things" you mention will become after a while "repetitive bullcrap" tbh.
 
Best trailer so far for PES 2014, illustrates the new features pretty well.

My most favourite feature is the barycenter-tru-ball-feature. I have dreamt to have something like this in a football game for years and now it's finally coming!:BOP:

My least favourite feature is the freekick-help-line, this needs to be eliminated without replacement as soon as possible. That help line can imho stay in the training-mode to help us understand how to make freekicks, but it should imho not be available in normal game, be it single- or multiplayer, not even as a switchable option.

Lol true that but atleast it will be better than what we have now. And after all its a game how else was the commentry supposed to be done. Unless they make new ones, say every 1-2 months and was a dlc
 
for the first time in seven years, pes finally impressed me with a trailer. fox engine is really looking promising. please don't disappoint me this time, konami, please!
