I switched to fifa after pes 6 (I was a die hard pes fan until pes 2008) and now I think I'll return to PES (I mean, I hope so ). the reason? because pes was some utterly unrealistic/super arcadey sh*t. no realistic dribblings, no realistic shooting animations, no defending, very limited body turns/ball control etc... fifa has been miles ahead of pes for seven years but I still find it quite boring after playing 2-3 games and also, I always liked PES' player analysis much much more than Fifa's. I even have fun with making some research over players' attributes in PES' edit mode.

btw, for now, just ignore Bobby, guys. he's gonna be a PES fanboy next year. :P

I switched to FIFA 95 after Pac-Man 1980 (I was a Die Hard 2: Die Harder PES fan until PES 2027) and now I think I'll return to Pac-Man. Reason?
Because PES was some utterly unrealistic/super arcadey sh*t, with hands!
Pac-Man has NO HANDS!

They are nice.

But there is something just not right there, the upper body looks a bit too loose imo. Especially the two top gifs. I think its just the arms? I'm not sure.

The top right where he goes to get the ball after flicking it around, its like he is about to fall over, his arms go all flaily and his body is awkward.

The top left, the move looks laboured and not very natural.

The Robben one is nice, although his arms look really long, like a Gibbon.

But overall they look good and it will be great to see some more footage.

That is the early working of player ID

Robben runs like a girl.

Robben looks odd not in the animations too much, it's more the kit. Your used to like everyone else seeing him in a skin tight kit rather than your standard jersey.

In real life and on PES 2013/12/11 etc.. Bayern have a techfit kit, Robben plus other Bayern players wear really tight jerseys. With PES 2014 this demonstration is using just standard generic short sleeve Shirts for everyone, this is to show off their new 3D kits and cloth physics which look all lovely and realistic but apart from Sevilla, most shirts these days are either tight or skin tight with all this sweat technology stuff.

In the full release I'm sure they Bayern kit will be tight like in the picture.

Who's your dealer and how can I contact him?

Question:

Why do you think ex Pes players converted to Fifa in 2008 and why do you think Fifa gamers bored of Fifa are reluctant to convert to Pes?

Because of modes,gameplay? Or both?

Modes and gameplay. Initially I was playing Fifa (from around Fifa 97 onwards) and decided to give the PES 4 demo a go. After being blown away by how much better the gameplay was, I bought it the very next day. However, as soon as Fifa (finally) went 'NG' on PC, I bought that because a) the gameplay was so much better than the PES games around at that time and b) Fifa's CM was better than ML (and still is). ML just doesn't feel like a realistic football world to me (no hiring/firing doesn't help).

This year, PES 14 is my likely purchase. There's nothing wrong with Fifa 13's gameplay (especially after mods on PC) but I've got a feeling that Fifa 14 is going to feel just like Fifa 13 with some CM improvements and I've got no inclination to play the same game for another year. Besides that, I can see a jump in gameplay in PES 14 that I haven't picked up on since first playing PES 4. The graphics aren't too shabby either. ;)

Yeah the Robben animation looks pretty good, I only said his arms look a bit too long. My main point was regarding the top two gifs.

Overall the Animations look really good, but they are not amazing IMO. The movement looks more natural than what I have seen in Fifa which is nice to see.

I'm looking forward to see more and play it.

Honome you smell :PP

Nothing to do with modes, imo. PES 2008 was an awful game and PES 2009 to PES 2011 weren't much better. During that timeframe FIFA was a viable alternative for many. It wasn't until 2012 that PES started to show signs of life again.

This might be the first sports game where each individual limb has it's own momentum. It might need fine-tuning but it's incredible to see.

Yesterday I played PES 2013 for the first time after a very long time without even touching it, and realized how incredibly dated the bloody tech is. Mechanics that could literally be the ones from N64 days with better graphics.

I was hoping they'd come up with something new.

I'm just nitpicking though, I am very excited about this. I am getting a new pc just for this game.

Your not nitpicking, the form system has ruined pes in recent times. Your good wins are rewarded with blue arrows.

Form system is broken and if konami havent looked at it for pes 14 then its going to make the ML unrealistic.

PES14 is advancing beautifully. Konami is showing us that they care about the deepest wants of their consumers. (@Doctor, I was just banned permanently from the EA forum without reason. I do hope Evo-Web doesn't treat its userbase that way.)

He's right. I swapped over to FIFA when PES 2008 came out, and stayed playing FIFA until i got PES 2011.

During this time, PES was old, poorly developed, and, y'know, shit.

Same, 2012 is one of the only years where I skipped both as neither was to my liking. 2013 I went with PES again after it sorted the mistakes of 2012.

Ah, screw 'em mate; if this is how EA treat us I don't want anything to do with them. Clearly they're worried about PES, otherwise they wouldn't be banning people left, right and centre for 'disruptive behaviour' (AKA talking about PES).

freekick dotted line reminds me of the old days

for me, Perfect Eleven & Fighting Elevent are still the most detail football game
referee, lineman, player warmup before substitution, etc.

see the clip below at 4.30
player run to the corner to take a corner kick
no cut scene, no black out
the seamless gameplay was in KONAMI football game since 20 years ago
now its time to bring it back in pes 2014 :BOP:

Not that much of a huge fan of stuff like that Ribery dribbling in that gif (the one in the middle). The animations for the dribbling look really good tbh but the way the defenders react to them still doesn't satisfy me.
There is this latency for lack of better words. I would love to see the equivalent (human like)of offensive reaction for the defensive aspect of the game.

Noticed the defence as well. The defenders didnt jockey and weren't wrong footed or anythin. They just did this wierd shit that PES defenders do.

I am saying it again animations aren't the be all and end all of this. I want to have to use momentum, inertia and guile to out fox a defender not poor defensive AI.

Exactly what I think too, I wanna see defenders stretch themselves to the max in order to try to stop you. I wanna be able to wrong foot them in a way that they'll fall on their asses or anything close to that.

Agreed with both of you.

Don't like how the defenders do not react.

But we'll see later if it's a case of beginner difficulty or not.

Since FIFA 09. FIFA have been on a decline and their main focus isn't gameplay. It's online stability, modes etc. for all its short comings. PES has been about gameplay and innovation. Despite the archaich engine and animations.

Well said. I gave FIFA a try to the point where I gave my PES disc to someone to keep and for close to 2 weeks everyday I played FIFA 10 and was appalled, disgusted and down right annoyed that I just couldn't take to it. The dribbling, the way a physics defy logic and playing football like you would in real life just doesnt get rewarded or results.

I am still not sure if its just PES that is encoded in my DNA but from a pure football prespective FIFA just doesnt get it.

I have tried every FIFA but always feel the same

PES although old and archaic and lacking new technology, at its core, it still got the football right. Yes Konami was teetered on the wrong side a few times and id far from perfect but still offered a better footballing experience. Its the tech that just kept it behind.

The problem is that my greatest experiences came from the Seabass era. As great as Kei has been with PES since he has taken the reigns I am concerned that he doesnt share Seabass ideologies and PES is gonna turn into FIFA..souless

I'm glad to see that you noticed the horrible defense, one of the biggest problems in PES 2013 and one of the main reasons why I hate this game , but I really hope this from a low difficulty.
And .. why they show same scenes again and again...

Finally someone starting to realize how Konami manages to make the game look poorer than it really is. I know they want to promote dribbling but they could use at least regular difficulty defenders.
Those in this video are at lowest difficulty setting, 100% sure, they don't even react to players dribbling them.

Besides, it was a bad decision to show how easy it is to score thanks to the new free kick dotted line, what were they thinking? Isn't Pes 2014 motto, realism?

What is realistic about having a line that shows us where the free kick will go?

I really hope it's a case of difficulty setting. It still makes little sense to me as to why they'd record footage on low difficult, wouldn't it more impressive to see the likes of Ribery and Robben get past opponents who actually try to stop them ?

It makes little sense to me, too, but every year they make the same mistake.

Of course it's lowest difficulty setting, otherwise how could most of the matches end 0-0 like people reported from E3?

I can't speak for recent PES games, but Fifa videos at this time of year are nearly always on a very low difficulty level; perhaps PES' videos are as well - I don't understand why either game does it.

If it's true i never noticed that. That shows how much better Fifa marketing and trailers are compared to Pes.

Player awareness is a major problem in PES 2013, we all have seen the same issues in the gameplay videos and in the recent official video from KONAMI. Adam, said that the issue was fed back, so for now we can relax.
