@ hidelker Lucky guy. What about the AI do they still interfere. Did you find the game especially on defence goes into autopilot. PES2012 you had to fight your players not to go in for the tackle. Even when you R2 and backaway the CPU rushes in to defend.

Been playing a bit of 2012 the last few days to get reacquainted with the game.

One thing that stands out, and is the case in all football games, there's nowhere near the proper variety in speeds of movement.

The slightest movement on the stick should be walking pace. It's never possible to just stroll around in possession, it's as if the game is forcing you to play a certain style - kick and rush.

The other is the extreme example, acceleration isn't nearly as noticeable as it ought to be. It's impossible to burst into life on the ball and basically leave a man for dead with a change of pace like you would in real life.

Adding in greater range in speed would totally open the game up and make it a lot more realistic in terms of the flow of play.

Totally spot on.
The left stick should control two speeds: walking with the ball (zero to 1/3 pressure range), and jogging (1/3 to full range). Off the ball should use jogging speed all the time.
Just to make myself clear, sprint should remain with a button, not a trigger. Some people get this one wrong.

i do agree but i couldnt have sprint on a button it wouldnt feel right for me.

what i want to see in pes 13 is no catch up bug it gets on me nerves

In PES 5 for xbox1 (playing it occasionally on xbox360) the left analogue stick is used in a wonderful way for different speeds. Pushing the stick slightly and your player slowly walks, pushing the stick more he will jog, both with the ball and off-the-ball. And with the ball when pushing the stick lightly close-dribbling is possible.

That's how it should be in PES 2013 as well.

Agreed Joey. The speed differential must be improved as long as they don't lose sight of some players acceleration and speed burst stats.

Also it should be on the R2 button as this is pretty good in racing games. That and an active stamina system and it will be Nirvana

And couple it with a ball that's totally free from the player and never locked into an animation with him. Level of acceleration should impact ball control and touch.

If there was a way to implement manual touch properly while moving with the ball, it would be fantastic. It would give so much control beyond just holding sprint or tapping a button to automatically knock it on when running. Think of how important that is when playing, you never just run around with the ball stuck to your feet, it's all about your touch on the ball to keep the ball where you want it.

Oh yeah for sure coupled with the players techinique and first touch and remove the ball string and we have truly turned a corner on football games. LOL shouldn't do this as there is no hope of achieving this for PES2013 but we can dream I suppose.

I'm really hoping 2013 tones down the speed burst issues with the CPU, it's fine and balanced with lesser teams but step up to the top teams and it becomes a tad ridiculous, several players can just slalom past you repeatedly. It annoys me more that it adversely affects the pace of the game, it makes it far too fast. From what I've read so far, 2013 seems to be trying to tone that down, so hopefully it'll come to fruition.

Other improvements I'd love to see are a more patient CPU and PLEASE can they improve player switching, IMO it's a lot worse than in 2011, certainly when you're playing on semi-auto cursor switching.

Improvements to these, and additional first touch options, and I'd be a happy camper.

True enough.

Dreaming of what the new engine could and should be. I don't doubt I'll enjoy 2013, but it's hard not to think of the innovations they need to make with this new engine.

This year my main hopes are for improved ball physics to the best capability of the current engine, better keepers and better shooting. I enjoyed 2012 enough to think I'll be satisfied with this for a year.

PES 2013 must deliver the long awaited gameplay, that will make the game enjoyable and not boring after 50+ games. KONAMI have been trying really hard to make it happen with the last games, but they failed. The enjoyment of football games have dissapeared in the past years, FIFA is laying on their glory from the last games and they haven't improved much since FIFA 11 and it seems the game will improve even less this year.
I really like the Kei's approach to the game, he is really trying to get a grip on the gameplay and he is focused on this part of the game the most.

Lets hope the demo will be from a latest code, so there will be no excuses this year. Cheers guys! :BYE:

I believe if running was assigned to a trigger it would be a bit messy. You should have to be constantly changing the trigger pressure with every player switch.

To me, speeds are basically three: walking, jogging (maybe two variables for jogging) and running, plus their variables (walking+close dribbling, pushing the ball further while running, etc).

I always wonder... could this pic of C.Ronaldo be a preview of what we could expect from PES graphics on Fox Engine on current gen ? Take into account that part of Konami team have already been working on this new engine.

He has a point, some of the photos are degrading for the PES-coverstar Christiano Ronaldo, like the one with the fist towards Ronaldo or the last picture.

Gives the wrong impression of PES.

That said I liked the picture with Spiderman, no one can beat Spiderman (except maybe Hulk or Thor).:))
