PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Still loving this game. Playing as Santos in Copa Lib today and game flows so naturally.

I'll start off apologizing for any grammatical errors you may come across in the following sentences as I have only got about a minute or two to write this post.

I am enjoying it to. It took a while though I must say. I think what held me back was I refused to look past all the removed content et al. Not to mention the technical aspects with the ai and animations etc.

But now I have been able to put that one side and enjoy it for what it is.

I recently had my fling with fifa as well, you know the one, where you buy it and return it the next day as soon as the animations and presentation has run it's course leaving you with what I like call a plastic version of football.

Anyway back on track with pes 2013. I'm currently playing a master league with Newcastle united and loving it for now. Player to watch and purchase for me is Anita. Very versatile player. He is a cracking little midfield player with excellent passing and tackling and can play most positions. Seems to have great tenacity. Forgive me, I don't really pay to much attention to the stats of players, it all comes down to how they perform on the pitch. That's how and where I formulate my judgments and opinions regarding players. I usually do this in exhibition mode.

Anyway I think your right. It all flows rather splendid. For me this is the only football game I can relate to that reminds of my own playing days. It all translates very well to me, in the context of real football. Love the pace.

Watched a documentary last night about the 'Reptilian Elite' conspiracy theory all started by David Icke. The guy is an absolute Fuckwit, and earns close to $2mil a year through speeches about supposed secret reptiles living underground who will take over the world. Amusing stuff.

On a side note - all gripes aside, and there are plenty, I'm thoroughly enjoying PES 13 too.

With respect where it is due, this forum and its participants have gone schoolyard...is the moderater going to step in and do their job? How about clearing out the last two or three pages of nonsense? When is it ever appropriate for one member to suggest that he meet with another member to clear the air? And on a less overt but still fairly apparent note, is it appropriate for one member to suggest that he knows another member in real life? Isn't that like saying i know where you live?
My post only said that I was enjoying reading comments on here about the game, more than playing it at the moment (and I meant the informative discussion as well, by the way).
Then some dickhead comes out with a yawn and says he now knows what my signature is about.
Seriously, what the fuck?
Some people need to give their heads a fucking wobble and say something right or don't say fuck all.
Edit: I don't know what a moderator could do, as no-one has actually been threatened directly with violence and Jimmy has cleared the other one up.
Maybe the best thing to say would be 'Back on topic now please'.

Just played my first few games of PES on PC. Bought a new rig this week and in the words of Ray Wilkins.....my word...

With all the graphics amped and the kits/leagues etc all patched, the game plays and looks amazing. Lush green grass, player models superb. The background stuff like the stadium, adboards and presentation, all top notch. Gameplay also feels much better, the game is slower, just all round a fantastic experience.

Sorry Morrissey for this. I really am.

PS - it does, once again, make you wonder just what the graphical side of PES' team are doing with their time mind with regards to the consoles. I mean something as simple as getting the grass textures right and net definition for example just adds so much to the all round experience.

Reopened. I just got rid of ~40 posts plus one member banned. I'm sorry for the lack of proper moderation in here as of late. Blame Lami for taking a six weeks vacation in Dubai, he should be back in two weeks, though. Until then, please behave, guys. Hugs!

Yeah the PC version of PES is much nicer to look at, as well as now having moddable gameplay etc.

I also don't understand how and why Konami's textures don't even come close to competing with the stuff supposed "amateur" modders from the community put together in their free time for nothing.

I played PES4-6 on PC, and now I'm on the 360, although there's option files to correct badges, names and kits, there are touches that can't be fixed on consoles.

So glad MLO filter setings are now working. Had games against all assist off players and hey are usually the players that won't use cheap formations or tactics. Awesome stuff Konami now give us a completely unassisted MLO competion and the likes included.

Reading the last pages comments, i'm surprised how the game has disappointed users that few months ago loved so much the game.

In my case, the game grows on me positively, to the point that for the first time in this generation of PES i haven't a "backup" of PES6 (with super latest update and gameplay patchs) installed on my computer PES6.

I finally stop thinking of past generation PES and that was very difficult for me to leave it. Cause the bad next-gen PES (2008-2012)

Now my dear players i'm proudly can say that i'm finally happy playing PES on my PS3. The sensation of one game before bed had come back.

Cheers!

I hadn't touched this game for over week before tonight. I played a friendly, Spurs v West Brom. It was an enjoyable match, sitting at 1-1 in the 90th minute, with their keeper pulling off a string of superb saves to keep them in the game.

Then, the CPU plays one long ball downfield, crosses into the box, there's an attacker free at the far post who Parker was marking before, way off the ball, it turned out that he just decided to stop tracking his man and just turned in the opposite direction once they got into the penalty area.

So the guy is free, he does a weak diving header that bobbles towards Lloris, the France international keeper on a green arrow, and he does this.

YouTube - PES2013

I've lost all patience with it now. I've been playing other games this week, games that feel finished, don't allow a ton of technical issues to influence gameplay, and games that feel like they've had some love put into them by the developers.

Then I played this, and this one match summed it up perfectly. An enjoyable, playable game utterly marred by technical issues and outrageous scripting. In my time with this game I could count on one hand the number of times I've actually benefitted from the CPU doing something wrong, or from fortunate deflections etc, and by contrast I've totally lost count of the number of goals I've let in that were against the run of play, from bizarre breakdowns in the game, from player switching issues, and from keepers forgetting for five seconds how to actually be a goalkeeper.

Now, with that video, I could accept that as a legitimate keeper error if the ball was actually travelling at any speed. But the ball was literally rolling towards him, barely any faster than the slo-mo replay. He just flopped to the floor, let the ball hit him, then once the ball hit Lloris, the seem to be some sudden and dodge ball physics going on there..

But that game summed it up. An enjoyable time, leaving a sour taste at the end. I'm still in hope that PES2014 can cut out all the technical issues that seem to cause the game to freak out against the player from time to time though.

LOL LTFC your luck is like mine online just conceded a goal against an opponent where my keeper jumped up and bent his arms to let the ball fly over and to milio that chested and volleyed home.

In another match my LB marking the far post stood flat on his feet as I mashed the clear button only to see the opponent again chest and volley from under the bar.

Booth games I limited my oppostion to 1 shot on target FOR THE WHOLE match both get crosses and both score from blunders.

Still love enjoy it but I want to go apeshit when hese things happen.

Yeah it's a real shame. It used to make me go apeshit but now I laughed out loud when this happened. First game back playing it for over a week, just a quick friendly, and already I've barely any interest in playing it again.

Having your goalkeeper throw the match with the very last kick of the game will kinda do that.

I might see what the patch brings and only play on Professional, if at all. I don't think there's any of this nonsense on that level, any higher and the game does all sorts of bizarre crap.

I reaffirm my opinion and echo what others have said about the aesthetics of PES. It's amazing how much the mods add to the atmosphere and feel of the game using the PC version. With Jenkey's in game tool you can select (before the next game in advance) what conditions of play you want.

It's just awesome setting Saturday EPL games to day and the Euro stuff to night with the odd late afternoon kick off thrown in. Add to that the awesome stadiums, player models, ad boards, grass textures, crowd definition and the TV style presentation menus and it's an all round wow package. There is just no excuse for KONAMI to be dishing out the really piss poor presentation side of things.

Even if they can't get the ad boards and stuff and TV style presentation due to any copyright issues at least make their own up so that the atmosphere is improved (like PES Sports or something). And the grass and nets......don't get me started. I want to burn my retinas with a Bunsen every time there's a night game on PS3.

I wonder if PES2014 will improve this though? I'm sceptical. For all the technical limitations, which is the reason the gameplay changes have forced graphical compromises since PES2010 and 2011, Konami have actively made design choices to have bizarrely luminous turf in night matches. The Jose Zorilla stadium in the Spanish dlc shows that night games can look okay, but Konami choose to make certain stadiums look the way they do.

It's not just night matches though. I did intend doing a ML with Athletico Madrid but their home stadium in the daytime looks dreadful. Way too bright, no shadows from anywhere, it's horrible. And because they're licenced, we can't even assign a new stadium to them (on consoles anyways) then you're stuck with it if you want to play as them.

Another thing that confuses me are the goal nets. I appreciate the old engine is limited but they could at least make the nets out of solid white lines, not strange grey ones that almost look see through at times.

So I dunno. There is the promise of a whole new graphical and gameplay engine but there will still be the issue of decisions Konami themselves decide to make.

how do you do that with jenkeys tool?

You could do that on verions of his tool last year, unfortunately for me I could only ever get an earlier version of his tool working.

Reading this, I am very tempted to buy the game for the PC again this year. It wouldnt be so bad if they didn't let you edit teams that have their correct stadium in

Give MLO a bash bud, like Dr Pepper, what's the worse than can happen ?

It's stupidly addictive, and on the zero assistance players with weak teams its so much better than playing the A.I. I've had my best matches yet on MLO as opponents are all playing how the game should be played. I haven't found any glitches that if attempted, I fear I couldn't handle. It's a really great concept when the settings are fair, very addictive and well constructed. In my opinion.

I'm still yet to give MLO a real go - my first four games were matched up against fully assisted dream teams (despite my filter preferences), giving me no chance.

There seems to be very few people online on the 360 version; the Player Match lobbies generally only have 50-70 people in them at the most!

I've found a few fellow zero assistance players using Quick Match, but it's rare.

Little tip for 360 users - when saving replays, use the Cloud Storage option as it loads/saves much faster :).

Suuuuupertalk - that keeper error wasn't a massive glitch though in my opinion. It looks slow at the speed of the replay but it just looks to be simulating the fact the keeper reacted slowly. Maybe the defender had blocked his vision until late. He got down with that new animation and couldn't keep it out.

Yeah he probably should have saved it. But plenty of real life games I watch and think, what was the keeper doing there? Poor near post positioning, coming out too far or not coming out enough. Letting goals in from slow, speculative 40 yard free kicks etc.

I played FIFA at a mates place a few weeks ago and they seem to have found a nice balance with their keepers now. Previously they would save a lot of shots that they should get nowhere near. Now they seem to be getting a glove to the ball but still conceding the goal or they can't get to the shots in the bottom corner.

I hope PES can get to that level on PES 2014. There are still several cringeworthy animations on PES. Especially when you score and the keeper has just dived with both hands across the goal and straight up to the corner. Looks pretty bad lol.

Also - re the stadium for your Master League campaign. You can re-assign which home stadium Atletico use so that you can find one with better pitch lighting :) Might have to assign it before you start the career though. Do it through edit mode I think.

I appreciate it wasn't a glitch as such, frankly without trying to sound paranoid I think it was down to pain old scripting. If this was a rarity then of course I wouldn't say that, but the fact of the matter is that I never, ever see the CPU keeper make a blatant error like that. And in the circumstances of that particular match, it was an unbelievably weak header he could have trapped with his foot, instead yeah he was crazily slow to get down to the ball, which is hard to believe given he's the captain of France and on a decent form arrow. Given the other team's keeper was at a far lesser ability yet repeatedly pulled off flying save after save, then it does reek a bit. Not least when the final whistle blows as soon as I kick off.

Fair enough, even the best keepers can make an error, but the fact that I just laughed when it happened because I see it all the time speaks volumes really.

The number of times stuff like this happens against the user is enough to conclude the game must be doing I on purpose, not least because if I knock it down to Professional level, I rarely ever see it happen. The higher difficulties are pretty outrageous this year, I have numerous examplea of the ball defying physics to run for the CPU, from suspending in mid air to 'warping' round people's bodies to get where the game wants the ball to go. Professional seems the fairest level.

@Jimmy, I am curious about MLO, I might give it a try but I will do with scepticism, and only now after the next patch.

Maybe the new patch will sort out some of the cheating / scripting. I can't stand it any longer to be honest. I think it's a real shame. This game has so much potential to be a brilliant game but this stupid cheating destroyed everything. Make playing against the AI fair Konami. I just want to play a fair game.

Like every night , and this night i was preparing to play some PES.. and i see the folder with PES 2013 demo 1.0 ! Well i I decided to try it and compare, since I play so much the final game, the demo I have not touched in almost 3 months!
I was shocked ..
Тhe game is very ... good in the demo, you have more control over your players, defensive and attacking, you feel like you are playing with .. professional football players, not idiots, until the final version at least for me it is the reverse. In first demo , you has majority of passing animations, almost perfectly fits the impact power of pass and the selection of animation, I can not say same for final game. Basically animations look and feel much better and natural.
Only bad thing in the demo, compare with the final version, are overpower shots ...
Generally ... demo is very good game, at least to me, is far more dignity. If you can try the first demo, after you've played the final game so much, please do it ;)

Every iteration is the same story. Great, mouthwatering demo gameplay, and then the reality check with the subpar (compared with demo gameplay) final code. I´ve asked this question many times, and i´ll ask it one more time: WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!
Why, Konami peoples? It is SO stupid...

You're right LTFC - as much as I thought Top Player and Superstar played some good football, there was too much funny stuff happening for my liking. Tried regular the other night and I got forward too easily too often. Professional is pretty good in my opinion. Sometimes you'll get hammered and sometimes you'll have a few chances yourself but if the AI has a decent tactic set up, they will knock the ball around nicely.

Sadly the demo is better than the retail version, yet again. I've still got it on my pc, all patched up. With the absence of league mode it makes more sense for me to play the demo for the next nine months or so.

I have demo2 on the xbox360 and play it once in a while. It's a bit fast but I like the control over the players, you can actually use pace and outstep a defender and the shooting has a nice feeling to it.

What I didn't like was the short time and that the ball is a bit too glued to the player's feet while jogging and turning.

Perhaps the difference between demo code and full game is due to them trying to balance things for online, screwing it up trying to please everyone.

I think there is a broader point here - as online has become more important the quality of PES has deteriorated. PES6 was kind of the tipping point as it was released around the time of the XBox 360's introduction to the market and the subsequent explosion in online gaming.

Perhaps Konami put too much emphasis on balancing this game for online play.
