PES 2013 Discussion Thread

I'm going nuts I think.

Installed the OF and the game feels super fast on default speed compared to when I was playing earlier - had to drop pass assistance down to zero.

However, now I am playing on zero bar the zip remains (less so in passing) but also feel the game as a whole feels more responsive and passing easier on zero bar. Weird but sorta welcome.

I wonder if the old OF impacting stability to the game is having a positive effect for a change. I was playing the game for a good three hours before installing the patch too, so it's not like I have come back to the game after a few days or even hours.

I think the upgrade in headers and crossing kinda messed up my playing style. I always try to force them out to the wings blocking any passing options going inside; prepatch, this was quite effective. Post patch, i can't seem to do it anymore; I lost 1-3 to inter milan using a diamond shaped manchester united, and all three goals was scored by headers. This was played in superstar exhibition mode.

Curdstar - yeah that was me who mentioned about the 3 bar passing but I'm back to 0 bar now. I have left switching to assisted though instead of semi-assisted and it works fairly well.

Lami - I'm sticking with medium cam too as it reminds me of the dynamic angle I played with on FIFA. If I could open up the angle a little and zoom out a tad it would be perfect! Great for visuals and for dribbling. I've now learnt a neat couple of feints that I can use to beat a man which is great.

Scored a lovely goal last night where my player was on the left side of midfield and about 35 out from goal. Hit an early cross with LB/L1 and the ball was hit towards the penalty spot but curled back towards the edge of the box and my striker shrugged off the last man and ran onto it for the classic diving header. With manual shooting on it felt good ;) haha

To the artist formerly known as LTFC - I started to notice some of that ghosting when players were dribbling too, so I just knocked it down to Professional. Still finding some decent play from the AI but less of the WTF moments.

Yea medium can do with a bit more tilting and a tiny bit of zooming out, but it's the one I'm hooked on currently and can't play on any other cam atm. Got used to it so don't have problems with vision using the radar :)

I played a game in the online community the other day and the medium cam also worked there :) Not sure if it works on regular online gaming like MLO however. Does look good though. Especially around the goalmouth! Shots feel more powerful on there too - maybe since there's less players on the screen the engine has less work to do and the framerate doesn't drop? *shrug*

Online comunity games 4vs4 wokrs good ?
I was online and tried to play, but nobody seems to be online, or just few players.

I'm using the WENB option file mate.

Like I said there aren't anymore issues. You can start up PES2013 and download the patch and DP2.

Once it is downloaded do to
Edit
Then transfers
Press triangle
Select default and exit by saving.

You will have all the kits and transfers upto date but may lose a few players and things from the Bundesliga.

I expect an option file compatible with DP2 soon.

Cheers buddy, I'll get the WENB one tonight and give it a whirl.

Does anybody know if there is an OF with the Brasilian Div 2 that I could use on a different PS3 profile for offline ML ?

I managed to play this last night for the first time in a couple of weeks, against my 16 year old son with mid-level teams. Amazing. He played with 1-Bar Assistance and I played with Zero, and I must admit, it's a joy to play against him and see how he thinks on the pitch. He is a mirror image of me in so many ways, and this game gives you the ability to express yourself on the park like never before. We both love it. :)

Has the new datapack for Xbox been released yet?

This game is so broken online it's untrue.

Nope, I'm thinking like Lami suggested earlier, that they can't release it until Microsoft allow it to be during the midweek XBL store update. At least that's what I hope. I would probably help if Konami actually came out and said "DP2 for 360 will be out Wednesday". It's not difficult for them.

And if this is the case, I find it pretty rich that a service is delayed when us 360 users have to pay for Xbox Live.

But I hope it is by Wednesday. I'll DL the data pack, delete the patch and I'm good to go.

@Chimps-with-quiffs : OT maybe but... What changes do you make to the gameplay and how? Option file global edits?

In fact, this is what i did, having remembered i did it with 2012. Why do Konami think everybody wants that widget?!

I think because they assume everyone wants to play online and have quick access to it even though many of us don't.

I've been playing PES 2013 on 480p the last couple of days and it's wonderful--very reminiscent of PS2 PES. The graphics take a slight hit but the pitchside cam seems slightly higher and further away, the ball physics seem better and game-speed seems decreased.

I don't use it but what is it about this widget that annoys people so much?

I have no idea if it annoys others, but it did annoy me. It wasn't there before and after an 'update' it's there, in the corner of the screen, doing nothing but getting in the way. I'm not a gold/live user, so i have no use for it. I only ask that i can disable it/switch it off, i have no problem with the feature itself. I'm just not interested in it.

Excellent point actually. it was the same with Skyrim patch for Xbox user, we had to wait for Microsoft to certify the patches.

If you ask Konami they will probably say it's because they have been listening to the community and doing research, and did it to offer an overall better experience... you know, something that would make as much sense as their reasons for removing League Mode.

Very disappointing from Konami.

CPU vs CPU is another good point. It's so freaking broken that if you put Barcelona vs Iraq on Superstar you might end up having a couple of nil-nils!
38 games, 40 goals. This sounds about right for CPU-only matches.

I could easily imagine those matches being played 24/7 for tied-up terrorists and political prisoners, Clockwork Orange style.

LOL this patch is definitely coming off my xbox as soon as I can download the data pack 2. WTF have they done to this game?!

I absolutely loved this game straight out of the box, no issues with it whatsoever, on Top Player the CPU felt fair, believable, and still tough to play against on zero assists.

I gave this game a rest for a couple of days having been increasingly frustrated with the post-patch version of the game, then went on it when I got home from work for a quick match. Switched the thing off after 30 minutes of the first half. Yet again, just as in PES2012, I'd dominate the games then get hit out of nowhere by two crazily direct, robotic goals I could do nothing about. The CPU just rampages through the middle of the park at 100mph every time it gets the ball, somehow Konami have completely removed all the build up play that took place pre-patch. I really don't know what is in the collective heads at Konami. Batshit crazy.

I mean why, why, why why develop a game that has great balance, tight, believable midfield play, and far superior attacking AI and then patch it so that it plays as close to PES2012 as they can possibly get it?! Sure, it's slower, when you have the ball, but as soon as you lose it the CPU just gets set for another attempted rampage through the middle of the park with nothing but through balls and slaloming strikers with better dribbling than Maradona. Where has all the backwards, sideways CPU passing gone? Where has all the careful build up play that picks apart my defence gone? Where has the CPU attacking midfield gone? The ball goes from deep lying midfielder to striker within two ping pong, hammered passes every time it gets the ball now.

Why develop the game with a certain philosophy in mind and then try and patch that out by altering how the CPU behaves against you? It's insane.

I'm just grateful that I love the game as it is out of the box, so no matter how many patches Konami do, they can't stop me from removing them from my console and playing it as it is, straight from the disc.

I guess that sums Konami up. I'm gonna get as much enjoyment as I can out of this game despite the seeming attempts from the developers to ruin it as much as possible. For every one thing that someone at Konami does that is absolute genius, they seem to offset that by doing about 50 things that only a total fuckwit would want to do.

It's a bit funny, I liked the game before the 1.01 update, but since 1.01 and changing the camera angle to long, the game just completely reminds me of old school PES now.

I don't know why but my default cam over the last year has been wide cam or now and again pitchside. But the Long cam with the pan just adds a notch or two of excitement, may be because your closer to the action. I also seem more in control of the player if that makes sense because I have greater intricacy and deft touch because I'm zoomed in more.

I know some are having issues, but I'm on Superstar level zero assists, and the game for me is playing perfect.

Yeah, I hear you, and as Pere Ubu pointed out, the speed of the cpu counter-attack sort of forces you to play the same way. I find myself recovering the ball in my defensive third and just sprinting to open space and then thinking, wtf am I doing? This isn't football...

So I'm in my second year of ML with Newcastle and I've made some nice transfers and such. Can I go back to the out-of-the-box game and keep my ML progress. Step by step instructions for this would be greatly appreciated. I am on PS3.

Caveat: I would say that it's easier to score on Top Player post-patch, which is kind of nice, but not worth the loss of cpu buildup and midfield play.

--good day!

Konami´s philosophy is to piss you off

But serious man, no game will ever please you, you should try a therapy in stead of playing PES, would be better for your health.

Undertaking something of a crude experiment now I have the OF.

Basically, I have taken a selection of teams and assigned possession game to slots 1 and 2, and then assigned all out attack and all out defence to the other slots.

What I am hoping is that formation and individuals will just take care of a teams style, while trying to get the CPU to play more measured football. Of, course, it still allows me to experiment with whatever team I am going.

If I find it to be any better, then I am just going to do with most teams in the game apart from big clubs and those that the likes of Klash and others post up.

Much better so far...

Played as Juve v. Parma and Parma ended the game with more of the ball. Then played Genoa v. Palermo and it was even 50/50.

I honestly think the team styles are too binary so far as CPU play goes and when they are assigned Quick Counter and you dominate possession, it just flicks a switch so that it's tactics offers up chances for it. Feel this is much more measured and the COM still try's long balls and quick counters without those tactics being assigned to them. They just don't do it quite so regularly and with high rate of success. Really think this method, along with formation set-up could be the way to go for me from now on.
