PES 2013 Discussion Thread

If there’s one thing I pine for in future PES games that’s a mass editing feature. Instead of it taking weeks to edit every player in the game (nearly all players are too heavy around the hips and arse for example, and I hate the number 1 and 4 running animations) It could all be done in a couple of days.

an example of pes2013 and in my opinion what is holding the game back from being a really really good game. playing online in a rank match as man city against my opponent who is barca.
his team is on the attack messi breaks into the left hand side of the penalty area and takes a shot my gk hart saves but parries the ball out a few feet, nothing wrong there. then something konami have done jack shit about since pes6 at least, happens. there are two players near the ball that my gk has parried out. one is sanchez for barca my opponents team, the other is clichy my full back. the player switching works for his team and selects sanchez again correct as it should. but, the game does not select clichy both players about the same distance from the ball and the closest players to the ball. i cannot select clichy either. so my opponent is able to move towards the ball but clichy who is under ai control as i cannot select him just backs away from the ball allowing snchez to slot the ball into the unguarded net.
again player switching not working properly and the stupid ai not reacting to a loose ball. stupid stupid its happenend even with two of my players nearest the ball again the game has not selected either and again i cannot select them and both either stand still or back away from it.no wonder online people play as barca and madrid all the time because i have yet to see this happen when playing against them. and offline the cpu teams dont do this. add to that the stupid gk on 1v1s again surely they could have tried to fix this before player id etc.
as forrest gump might say pes is now like a box of choclates you never know what your gonna get!! these apparent basic things are whats holding it back along with the infamous no league mode!!

I am new and cant start a new thread, hope someone can answer my question? ..

Its simple - can you play 2vs2 mode, involving 4 different machines (PS3). I was playing 2vs2 at a friends house, it was fun. I wonder if I would be able to team up with him, online, on my own machine vs 2 other guys. I don't own the game otherwise I would try work it out myself. Can you guys help me out and answer my question?

Cheers

So now that the transfers are all updated, how do we do with the uniforms, emblems, edited Bundesliga and Championship teams and so on?

I think if I install one of those Option Files out there it will undo the transfers update, wouldn't it?? :(

not undo but apply the of's transfers! what the creator did is present in your game, i think! every player not edited by the of creators should be fine (konami transfers kick in). or am i wrong!?

Any animator worth their salt could fix those abysmal cycles in a few hours.

I'm having fun with the game now. I've found the sweetspot of CPU difficulty (Pro) and self imposed difficulty (0 assistance) then combined that with (imo) better ball physics. It won't last me a year, but it'll certainly last longer than PES 2012.

Same here. I've got a good option file, nearly finished all my obsessive compulsive editing and have finally settled on a satisfactory LCD color setup for the game. I feel the 1.01 patch has injected some sort of mild elixir into the game and I'm going to really enjoy a new PES for the first time in a while:))

exactly my settings! 15 min or 20 min, what do you prefer? i stick with 15!

what about the balls!? some guys in here mentioned some defferences.

plus: i need a list of all id-players, a list of all stadiums that look good (and what daytime), a list of stadiums that dont lag performence. had some serious hickups last night... but i dont remeber wich stadium! thx... ;)

Just had amazing game away against Barca in a mini Konami cup I created. Finished 2-2 with me taking the lead through a wonderful Lorente goal; Barca equalised through Messi, Alexis Sanchez edged them in front with 5mins remaining and then I a win a free-kick deep on right. Off-ball controls generated movement, delivery, and Llorente grabs the equaliser with a header at the near post. Stunning match on Top Player.

Am i missing something or you can only play 2v2 by chosing 1 single player in the team? is it a joke or there is something i have to do to select the rest of players? Are we really locked up on 1 single player for the whole game?

that would be the most stupid gaming idea of the century.
thats whats happened lad. i tried it last night and carefully went through all the options like. but you only control 1 player and so does your community mate.

theyve missed a trick here!

I initially really liked the game post-patch, I don't care what others say but there were tiny tweaks to gameplay. My first match on Top Player finished in a 2-1 win with 50/50 possession and me holding on all second half unable to get the ball from the CPU. It was brilliant.

Since then I must have played a good 20 or so matches and it's been not so good, so much so that I'm considering just removing the patch altogether. I'm consistently now finding that every CPU team just sits deep and hits me on the break, plays at 100mhp when it gets the ball, and is in stark contrast to the game pre-patch. Before, I'd have periods where both teams would have periods of possession, and the rest would be decent midfield scraps, but each match now feels like I have most of the ball and it hits me on the break, repeatedly, similar to 2012 in fact.

Prior to the patch I honestly couldn't remember a goal conceded where I'd be backing off on the edge of my own box against a striker who'd just effortlessly glided over several challenges, only to concede a goal that way. Since the patch, I'm seeing it all the time.

Basically, post-patch, I'm now seeing;

- faster CPU build up, more direct, counter attacking play
- I'm having vastly more possession of the ball
- CPU seems unrealistically clinical in front of goal
- CPU magic dribbling from PES2012 feels like it's back
- less yellow cards (the number of cards produced pre-patch was one of my favourite things about the game)
- games now feel faster and more counter-attack minded

I'm sure people will disagree, but that's honestly what I'm finding. Pre-patch the CPU would react to my hold-up play defending and look to play the ball around you, moving backwards, sideways etc, and the play was broken up by the tackling being 'tighter' somehow. Post-patch, the CPU gets the ball and instantly looks for a quick counter, hold the play up and it either magically skips over your challenge or ping pong passes at high speeds.

It's like Konami made minor tweaks to the CPU believing that what I personally thought was realistic, great gameplay, and made it faster paced, end-to-end probably because they thought that would create a better 'gaming' experience.

But like I say, that's only my personal observations, others seem to be thinking much differently. But all I can say is that pre-patch, on Top Player, I was losing my fair share of games but never felt cheated, or done over by an overtly 'robotic' CPU goal. Post-patch, I"m constantly getting pissed off at now feeling like I'm dominating then getting screwed over on the counter-attack. I mean I just lost a match vs Sienna, and their 70-rated player skipped majestically past three challenges on two occasions to score out of the blue. I never saw this kind of thing pre-patch, if anything they'd have still scored three goals but have done so in a way that was more realistic, by passing and crossing having kept the ball and actually having some kind of build up play.

So, I might just remove the patch. At least it'll get rid of that stupid fucking widget sitting pointlessly in the game menus from now on.

On a different note, are we still able to import our own songs into the game like previous years? If I hear one of those eight songs one more time I'm gonna throw my xbox out of the window.

Oh, and Konami, seriously, where the fuck is the xbox360 data pack 2 update? No sign of it, no updates, nothing. Konami's main page now says the issue is sorted, kind of ignoring the fact that the 360 update has gone completely AWOL.

I use the PES 2013 ball and always play on 15 mins.

Man I love low crossing into technically competent players:

Everyone within a hundred yards probably heard me screaming after I scored that one.

Are you playing with 0 bar assists and no assist in slides. mate?

I was experiencing similar earlier, but decided to knock pass assistance up to 1 and put Auto Slides on normal. That little more assistance means I can play a slightly more daring game in possession as with 0 bar I was playing to patiently as a result of having to be extra precise win my play. Patient play is good and all, not to mention the support you get off the ball but the caveat, at least in this game, is that more support means you are more prone to counters by the AI. Having Auto Slides on Normal means my AI team mates are more likely to stick a foot in at the right time, thus cutting out wonder dribbles.

The key is the passing assistance though. While I do like 0 bar I just feel I can vary my tempo better with just a little more assistance by the COM. I think CalcioCabrese said he was using 3 bar and while I baulked at the idea, I had some excellent games with a nice balance in possession. Sticking with 1 bar for the moment though.

Have to agree with you, enjoyed the game pre-patch on top player 15mins o assistance, since the patch it's been a whirlwind of run, attack dribble at 100mph. It feels like it's back to the slalom dribbling of 2012. They should have left it alone, they did the same thing last year and eventually got it at the right pace after several attempts. It's not very enjoyable at the moment.

when u say dribble at 100mph... i noticed some super fast rocket shots from podolski. is that tuned up too!? or could it be turned up!? cause his shots seem too fast for my realism taste of soccer.

Ok, thanks. I'll try an OF and see what happens. One that doesn't mess with any transfers, so the transfer update remains intact.

On another note, is anybody experiencing the cheating kicking in on Top Player on certain moments only?

For instance, I'm playing a Copa Libertadores with Fluminense and I coast through the Group Stages, with 5 wins and 1 draw. Then on the Knockout Stages, the CPU is a different animal altogether! I got ass raped 3-0 and in the 2nd leg the most I could manage was a win by 1 goal margin.
But, I mean, the cheating was blatant! Stat boosting everywhere, their players high on amphetamines, impossible one touch passes going through flesh and bones, you know... all that! It's like the game goes back to PES 2012 mode all over again.
Really frustrating when it happens. The cheating seems every bit as bad as in PES 2012, the only difference being that the game is more enjoyable this time around. Still, I guess I'll be playing this very casually, once every 2 weeks...

i noticed that ghosting (when the opponent kinda walks right through my player) and i hate it! the uber-players like ronaldo seem to glide past/trough me like a hot knife through butter! ya know!

this is for sure a fall back to the bad times of PES. if there ever was good times on ps3! ;)

There is a great deal of merit here. Now that I've gotten more used to the game, on unassisted passing I can have 60-63% of the possession mainly because I'm so patient and almost dainty with some of my passes. I end up cycling it around alot because the final, cutting pass is so difficult on unassisted. But if I switch to one bar of assisted passing, I end up with 52-55% of the possession because my play is far more speculative and daring. It's not that I'm faster per se, in a counter-attacking style. I still build up quite a bit, but I will attempt far more speculative chipped through balls, switching of sides, etc.

I play the same way you guys seem to play.keep the ball far too much on zero bars while not creating enough chances on goal.I'll give it a try tonight. :)

@ Suuuuupertalk completely agree been flicking between pre and post patch and I think the CPU is way more balanced on pre patch. On post patch the attackers seem to just walk past my defenders as if there not there. Was conceding some jarring goals as well.

Playing pre patch CPU seems more human like just had a game against Norwich (who had better players than me). Managed to beat them 1-0. Scored against run of play and set my team to defend for rest of game to hang on. Was defending for my life near the end but they weren't god like and probaly created 1 decent chance, it felt like I had alot more control over my players (compared to post patch where players were doing as they pleased)

Definitely keeping it on pre patch should never have flirted with post patch in the first place

Are you talking about Top Player or Professional difficulty?
Because on professional i do not feel the same.
Instead I feel the opposite of everything said...
Cpu now act more like human, and above all, build up the gameplay in various ways without old through killer passes.
I like it.

Top player. Didn't try professional with new patch might have to give it a go

Glad to hear you're having some success with the game :))

Yes I'm using zero assist/no assist in slides, and I do see what you say, I might give the auto slide setting a go so cheers for that. But my main beef with the game post-patch is the general attitude of the COM attackers, when jockeying there's no patience on their behalf at all, it attempts to get the ball forwards as much as possible. I never experienced that at all per-patch, so I might revert back to the original version if it carries on. Cheers for the tip though, it might help :))

Yeah that's exactly how i was trying to describe the game post-patch, before downloading the patch the COM did indeed feel a lot more human, more prone to error. Before downloading this patch I remembered countless times when I would finish a match and say to myself "wow, I won that/grabbed a draw with a goal against the run of play - that NEVER happened in PES2012". There were times when I would struggle to get the ball off the COM and would score against them on the counter attack.

Since the patch, that hasn't happened once. The AI seems robotic with its fast passing yet allows me far more of the ball in midfield, meaning when they do get the ball it's instant fast paced counter after another. And contrary to what I said about the game pre-patch, there have been a lot of occasions where the CPU scores when it doesn't deserve it, never the other way around.

I have no idea why Konami might have altered this if they have, maybe they though the game out of the box was too slow paced for a game, or maybe too easy (something I have never found even pre-patch), but altering the game so that it's more end to end counter attacking doesn't bode well.
