Because everyone much preferred the gameplay of PES2012, didn't they?
I wasn't convinced about the patch changing the gameplay much, but I have to admit I was seeing a lot of this on Friday, horrible 100mph counter-attacking PES12-type stuff. The slow, realistic feel seemed to have gone, I felt as though the movement of my own team was trying to force me into playing the same ugly style as the computer, and suddenly it felt like a struggle to keep playing rather than a struggle to stop. Not sure if that was just a bad day, but if they really have dumbed down the game again I won't be happy.
If this is what's happened, they probably just listened to the whining of what they always worshipfully refer to as "tournament players", as usual.
Bringing out something approximating a realistic football simulation (a product which is mind-bogglingly poor in almost every aspect but has been reasonably well received by its own fans and the fans of its rival game *solely* because it offers something approximating a realistic football simulation) then almost instantly patching it so it's much less realistic... ah Konami, how do you manage to shave each morning without accidentally slicing off your head?

I have no idea why Konami might have altered this if they have, maybe they though the game out of the box was too slow paced for a game, or maybe too easy (something I have never found even pre-patch), but altering the game so that it's more end to end counter attacking doesn't bode well.
