PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Because everyone much preferred the gameplay of PES2012, didn't they?

I wasn't convinced about the patch changing the gameplay much, but I have to admit I was seeing a lot of this on Friday, horrible 100mph counter-attacking PES12-type stuff. The slow, realistic feel seemed to have gone, I felt as though the movement of my own team was trying to force me into playing the same ugly style as the computer, and suddenly it felt like a struggle to keep playing rather than a struggle to stop. Not sure if that was just a bad day, but if they really have dumbed down the game again I won't be happy.

I have no idea why Konami might have altered this if they have, maybe they though the game out of the box was too slow paced for a game, or maybe too easy (something I have never found even pre-patch), but altering the game so that it's more end to end counter attacking doesn't bode well.

If this is what's happened, they probably just listened to the whining of what they always worshipfully refer to as "tournament players", as usual.

Bringing out something approximating a realistic football simulation (a product which is mind-bogglingly poor in almost every aspect but has been reasonably well received by its own fans and the fans of its rival game *solely* because it offers something approximating a realistic football simulation) then almost instantly patching it so it's much less realistic... ah Konami, how do you manage to shave each morning without accidentally slicing off your head?

The game seems easier after the patch.
Due to my lack of game time (no option files yet) I've been playing on regular to get used to it. I've now gone to professional and in my first game on that level, as Barca I beat AC Milan 6-0.
Never normally Barca but just wanted to see the diff between FIFA and PESs Barca. Every shot I had went in. Scored some great goals but it was all too easy. When on regular I never won by this much.

an example of pes2013 and in my opinion what is holding the game back from being a really really good game. playing online in a rank match as man city against my opponent who is barca.
his team is on the attack messi breaks into the left hand side of the penalty area and takes a shot my gk hart saves but parries the ball out a few feet, nothing wrong there. then something konami have done jack shit about since pes6 at least, happens. there are two players near the ball that my gk has parried out. one is sanchez for barca my opponents team, the other is clichy my full back. the player switching works for his team and selects sanchez again correct as it should. but, the game does not select clichy both players about the same distance from the ball and the closest players to the ball. i cannot select clichy either. so my opponent is able to move towards the ball but clichy who is under ai control as i cannot select him just backs away from the ball allowing snchez to slot the ball into the unguarded net.
again player switching not working properly and the stupid ai not reacting to a loose ball. stupid stupid its happenend even with two of my players nearest the ball again the game has not selected either and again i cannot select them and both either stand still or back away from it.no wonder online people play as barca and madrid all the time because i have yet to see this happen when playing against them. and offline the cpu teams dont do this. add to that the stupid gk on 1v1s again surely they could have tried to fix this before player id etc.
as forrest gump might say pes is now like a box of choclates you never know what your gonna get!! these apparent basic things are whats holding it back along with the infamous no league mode!!

+1
These two issues - goalies parrying directly to oncoming strikers and inconsistent cursor switching - are the niggles I find most frustrating this this year.

I don't know if you guys ever watch quick looks at Giantbomb.com - I do all the time, they are often very funny and there is one for Pro Evo 2013 now. Warning - They are absolutely clueless when it comes to football.

Giant Bomb

The video doesn't seem to come out right when I link to it so here is the giantbomb homepage, Pes 2013 is on the front page anyway.

ON the pitch this is the best football game ever.

OFF the pitch it's a mess. If this game had FIFA 13's game modes, I wouldn't leave the house!

You probably would because FIFA13's career mode is so bugged that it doesn't seem to work properly.

LOL I keep posting the same message but when the f**k are Konami going to notify us Xbox users about the data pack 2?? It's still not up for download and there hasn't even been a notification of when it's likely to be made available. This is pretty shitty treatment of their Xbox customers. Seems like now the PC and PS3 versions are fixed, they couldn't give a shit.

Well I've looked around and all I can find is people saying apparently 'those in the know' say DP2 won't be released on Xbox until the end of next week. WTF?

It was very promising from the demos and initial contact with the game, but no way this can be the best footie game ever. It shouldn't play like this. The single player experience is very poor, ghost passing, ghost dribbling and a lot of ice skating effect going on there.

The best games ever came with the last titles in PS1 and many from the PS2 era from 2004-2007.

This game right now is a mess and a mere shadow of what it was.

Not only talking about the actual playing experience here. The treatment for PC users (no Demo 2) and XBox users now without the fix... and this coming from me, a PS3 user.
I was put off when installing the Data Pack 2 and had to read a wall of text before starting the game. I kid you not, there were like 15 pages of notifications, warnings about game crashing, how to avoid it, revert edited boot data to default (player by player?!?)... until I got to the part where it explains that you have to delete the Data Pack file from the system and download it again, go to Edit Mode and revert everything back to default, and only then we get the updated transfers.
Fucking hell, this is so much trouble, it seemed less complicated to create your own patch some 8 years ago

I would put up with all this and still play, but for me the game breaker is the brutal AI opponent and blatant cheating and stat boosting - because I play single player offline Master League only. Thus for me this game will never entertain me as it used to.

That aside, there are so many problems that affect not just me, but everyone at some level, such as their treatment to their ever declining user base, leaving League Mode out, magic boots scandal and all that, it's not even funny.
It's sad to watch the demise of such a good series.

haha, that was brilliant. Love the miss on 25 minutes, it had me in tears. Reminds me of when I pick up Madden or NBA.

Its fixed now mate so if you download the Data pack it should be fine.

Btw SA players are back so we can hook up for a game.

Cool.

So which OF are you using bud ?

I have GTM World 1.0 at the minute, with Data-Pack 1. Do I just need to download Patch 1.1 then Data-Pack 2 and everything should be fine ?

I'm a little out of the loop with this and can't really seem to find a definitive answer ?

Thanks in advance to anyone who may know........ :TU:

I didn't realize that this might be because of this new patch, but I've been playing with Barcelona in Champions League against teams like Lille 9top Player level) and CPU has been put ridiculous pressure on me, all my players seem to be surrounded by two, Cpu players are always sprinting towards my players, even my midfield players don't even have time to recieve a pass as there's always someone at their back who can tackle from behind without conceding a foul. It's beyond ridiculous, it really reminds me of pes 2012 gameplay.

Played my last game of PES 2013 last night. Getting to the 90th minute and my full back makes a tackle which goes straight to their player of all possible directions. After that, he passes the ball into the centre of the goal. The defender who made the tackle SHOULD have stayed still and he'd have intercepted the ball ... but no, he starts running backwards and OFF the pitch!

So the ball gets past him and there's another defender who's marking the CPU striker ... but he also runs away from the ball! Meaning the striker just side foots the ball and the keeper obviously doesn't make the save.

I wasn't controlling either defender at the time, it's pretty incredible how the CPU just decides to randomly pull my players away from the position that they should be in. It's basic football 101, the defenders had NO reason to run off and leave the opposition or block the passing lane, and certainly no reason to run OFF the pitch entirely!

Fortunately it wasn't me going crazy as my mate was also here watching the game and he burst out laughing when it happened and saw how ridiculous the situation was. Maybe next year but this current model than Konami use is ridiculous and so outdated that it's a bit of a joke personally.

I'll see you lads around August 2013 then.

I have to agree that this is a massively frustrating element of this game. Falls into the category of bad player awareness again.

Ok, so I downloaded the patch and then in game downloaded the DLC. Now I keep getting frozen on the blurry Ronaldo opening screen. Was there any other fix found or provided, other than deleting my edit data? Or is there a fix coming? Naturally I want to make sure before I resort to deleting my edit data.

I also feel this to be the biggest downfall for PES. I haven't played it for at least a fortnight, partly due to me giving FIFA a run as the wife bought it. There's a similar amount of cheating on that too, my second season in a manager career and the AI now wins or draws games due to player switching becoming conveniently broken, their interception count going through the roof (telescopic legs) and my passing resembling a turd trying to walk up the front of the toilet and jumping down the back in a sort of confused, feverish state.

So today I've been getting a few things together on the editing side and reading up on edits to try out and then play later tonight. After reading the last page or so in this topic, I feel like I'm about to be that turd climbing the toilet, only to perhaps find the pot is cling-filmed off when I get to the top. AI in football games really hasn't progressed as much as it should have these past 5 years. I don't live close to mates who I can play it with in offline MP and online is a waste of time unless you're a fully manual-playing, quad-testicled kingpin of concentration. And I don't get much time for concentration. Master League is my haven but it's more of a STD clinic of late.

Anybody here having trouble with AI Goal Keepers always guessing the right side to go for on PKs? Christ, this is the last thing this game needed

I know this happened in PES 2009 and it was very annoying.

A few moments ago, I just went to a penalty shootout and the keeper guessed everything!! Fucking Konami, is the AI keeper that Psycho Mantis boss from Metal Gear Solid, against whom we had to pickup controller number 2 so he won't read our minds??

I'm beginning to get more convinced also that with the patch this game turned itself into PES 2012 again. Same shit, same lock ons, stat boosting and trickery from the AI which is impossible to stop. Brutal, unforgiving and utterly frustrating.

the dynamic 1-2 is an incredible feature. i wish i didnt have to press L1 + pass > flick right stick to do it though. too hard if you want to string a few 1-2s together. it should just be pass > flick right stick

exactly m8. same piss poor AI as previous versions, they have done jack shit with it. player id, balls, i could not care less. just fix the friggin basics. player switching improve AI regarding loose balls and more control over gks in 1v1 situations and you would have a really good game. konami this year have shat on pes players from a great height. if they had charged £20 for a pes 2012 spin off would not be so bad.
instead full price is a joke what with less modes and botched data packs people unable to use preqel data from pes 2012. we apologise, what ajoke what happened to testing things before releasing they honestly could not care less.

I personally love the gameplay and win quite a lot of games on Top Player. All games have annoyances online and offline so I don't buy this CPU 'cheating' paranoia.

Not keen on the game modes though. Don't like the sound of ML with silly boots etc.

I play on Professional -1 speed 10 min 0 pass and it's bloody great

This game is most balanced and at its best on professional difficulty I feel. Using zero pass bars is the only way to go also. One or more bars just feels too assisted and "arcadey", for lack of a better word.

I'm using the WENB option file mate.

Like I said there aren't anymore issues. You can start up PES2013 and download the patch and DP2.

Once it is downloaded do to
Edit
Then transfers
Press triangle
Select default and exit by saving.

You will have all the kits and transfers upto date but may lose a few players and things from the Bundesliga.

I expect an option file compatible with DP2 soon.

Why don't Konami make the data packs DLC in the PSN/Xbox live stores? It's taking me longer to download this data pack, than it does to download game demos.

Paul2478 V1.3 is what I'm using. Very well done. But it have nothing to compare it as I havn't seem any other OF on ps3.
