The Daymos v1.5 (the one that allows the data pack to work) on 360
Out of curiosity, are you playing with the plain ball?
I'm using the Predator Capitano ball, the one that's white with pale blue bits on it. Dunno why but I swear the ball travels slower using it.
No offence to you in particular, and while I’m glad that more people in recent times are coming back to PES, I get blindsided by idea of PES being back.
During all the time that people have declared FIFA to be the greatest football game ever and PES to be crap:
-The player individuality has still been there
-The momentum/inertia model has still been there
-The tactical/strategic depth has still been there
Personally I think that the AI and ball physics have been at a good level as well
All this time from PES 2009-2012, (I only played the demo of the next gen 2008 on pc and am undecided) its not been without its flaws, for example last year the speed could have been toned down and the AI scripting/cheating on the higher levels is crazy, but the core gameplay depth has been there if you look under all the rough edges, especially the rigid animations, which is what seems to put most people off. Its looking a bit more smoother this year with the animations and continued gameplay refinements, but to those who have stuck by it all these years its not a surprise at all, and they aren’t blind Konami loyalists either.
I played FIFA 09 for a long time, even in an all manual league, but once I’d gotten over the novelty of the visually fluidity and presentation, which to be fair were stellar if you are a football fan, the gameplay engine showed itself to be broken and lacking depth. Even the much lauded manual passing minimized the already minimized stat-influence! I bought FIFA 10, with the promise of 360 degree dribbling and less pressing in the midfield, but it didn’t change much for me. Its still like that today, no matter how many bells and whistles they add on, I think for those that want more on the pitch realism beyond visuals and presentation, the gameplay engine needs to change more than PES. Both games are a mix of arcade and sim, but I’ve always felt that PES leans more towards the realism side.
Both games have taken things from the other, but FIFA has done it more over a long period of time, it has to be said. If PES has been terrible all this time and has only just come back, how come FIFA are also including the the improved teammate AI from PES 2012+, the stat-influenced manual/zero assistance passing from PES 2012+, the containment defensive model from PES 2011+, the refined first touch system from PES 2010+, the contextual dribbling system from PES 2009+. These things are quite big for footie games, gamechangers even; and have been finding their way into FIFA. This would suggest that on pure gameplay terms the PES team knows what they’re doing, in spite of all the criticism the game has had over the years.
PES’s depth has always been there. I've considered playing Football Manager because the tactical depth in this game and the results on the pitch rival it and make you FEEL like a player-manager! I’ve got lists and lists of teams and formations and tactics and notes on individual players, their chosen positions that suit my playstyle, combinations of players (e.g. a winger good at defense and tracking back with an interchanging attacking FB), positions in relation to other players, modified formations that suit particular teams, choices based on individual stats, star/player card abilities, alternate strategies etc. that I’ve been refining since PES 4 xbox live play - 08 on PS2.
I STILL DID THE SAME thing from PES 2009-2012 till now. The deep things still functioned and worked no matter how many people told me how crap it was, I could still lose myself in the game that replicated the intricacies of football, in a way that I couldn’t do so in FIFA. Yes, they still had their problems and weren't perfect, but you could get a lot of enjoyment out of them. FIFA isn’t terrible either, but I feel it’s a different type of game than PES, I don’t play it for the same reasons.
So for me PES is not finally back, its still here!
FIFA International Soccer 94 and FIFA 95 on the Mega Drive and FIFA Road to World Cup 98 on PS1 with the 5-a- side-indoor matches were brilliant though, as were ISS Pro, 98 and Evolution on PS1 from what I played. As was World Cup Italia 90 on Mega Drive, a UEFA CL game on PS1, some European club soccer game on the Mega Drive that looked like the Subuteo stick figures with circles under their legs etc. but I digress
Regarding greener pitches, I think the PES team only need to fix the lighting. I'm not sure what exactly it is, but when watching highlights, you can see how the pitch in night games can go from bland looking to very rich green from different angles. It looks like something simple. If only I knew what it is though. I'm sure someone in the editing section has already noticed it in the code and switched it off or something.
I've also moved from long cam to mid range. So much more immersion specially the short passes and close dribbling.
Also changed the colour balance under system settings, fix it up a little:
R -3
G 0
B 3
Br 6

What dificulty level is more balanced for you guys ? I've playing on the one below superstar, imo cheatin is still there. I can feel the time that CPU desperaingly need to score, and no matter how you try they will. You see the cursor not switchin to the right player in the right time, some weird movements of player not getting in position to close space and block the shot from CPU, ball deflections will tend to go to CPU players, not to count the 100% succesfull from free kicks rate and some oals from crosses that you can not avoid.
Apart from that, this is easily the best football game in this game. Dribbling (freedom to knock the ball ahead usin r2+r1 and also from stan till position, r2 is brlliant, ball feels more indpendent from players feet, not gluded like pes 2012, wayyy more realistic, better anmations, awesome indivituality etc), shooting, freedom to pass... the game is amazing! Seriously, I have no idea why some guys here were complainnin about shooting, it's fantastic!
Sorry for quoting myself, but please, answer this.. I'd like to know what dificulty level most of you guys have been playing and why you think it's more balanced. Thanks.
I'm thinking about trading in FIFA 13 for PES tomorrow, but have a few questions first:
1. How different is the final game compared to demo two? My main flaws with demo two were that the CPU were far too direct in attack, fast players coundn't seem to outpace slower ones and your own defensive AI seemed quite suspect at times, so I'm interested to see whether any of these have been adressed.
2. Linked to the previous point, are there better/more varied goalkeeper dives/animations in the final build?
3. With regards to player and team individuality, would you say that they are more apparent in PES 13 compared to FIFA? For example, do Stoke go for the long ball, Swansea utilise pass and move, Man United play wide etc?
4. Is there a good balance between attack and defence? In FIFA, I feel the game favours the attacking side more, and I never feel fully in control when defending.
5.How much do tactics and formations have an in impact on the game? Can you have genuine tactical battles, where substitutions/changes in formation can change a match?
6. Does each game feel different? Is there a mix of counter attacking matches, open attacking games, cagey middle battles etc?
I'd appreciate any answers to the above questions. I'm only mentioning FIFA in some questions for a comparison, so I can get a better idea of how PES plays, thanks.

Professional is just the right challenge for me. Anything harder and I generally feel too harried by the CPU for too much of the game.
I propably already played around 10 games and I simply can't win on top player, no matter how good I play, CPU always scores after rebounds, they always anticipate first, and there were many situations that the game didn't let me to get into the path to block a shot after those rebounds, and I'm getting a bit annoyed with the accuracy of finess shot by CPU as well.
Try a top team and then post
Yeah m8, Troll mode , ups pardon, bal mode is total mess !My daughter is playing a BAL campaign. This is another broken mode for extremely masochistic people.
She made a midfield player and started with one of the fictional teams.
After a couple of subsititutions in the second half she scored 2 goals as man of the match (a fantastic feature for a girl, being man of the match one has to admit). Next: match she was a substitute again and once again she was man of the match. This happened in 4 consecutive matches and still she wasnt a starter. I told her to watch the graphic how she is in the pecking order as MF, she wasn't even mentioned...But there was good news too, she is the third in the pecking orders of the GK's....another completely broken mode...
Why begin at a ficional club (a couple years ago one had the choice between different teams, last year one had to start at one real club without any choice and now one has no choice but to start for one of the fictional clubs)? The aim of this mode is having a transfer to a better club, but how can you have a (realistic) transfer when you never start for a club that is supposed to be among the weakest teams in the game?
I could mail Konami, but they will answer that they have acted upon the wishes of the community and they want to guarantee us a more enjoyable and realistic gaming experience....
Very realistic and enjoyable indeed.
I wonder if EA have placed some undercover agents in Konami's team that had to make the modes of the game...
The stadium called Jose Zorilla (Valladolid's stadium) looks great at night, I have no idea why only this stadium seems to have such great pitch textures in night matches. It's a darker green colour but has such a more realistic look to it, I'm thinking of doing my ML with a team and setting this as their default stadium.

Espanyol's stadium also has a darker night turf as well.
I haven't got that stadium. Do you it with the 1.01 patch?

Oh and one last thing, I've never seen this animation at all until tonight. Dunno if it's a player ID thing but John Terry chesting a pass looked brilliant.
YouTube - PES 2013
There's so much to learn with this. It's the best football game I've ever played. Almost every match is near even in possession, unlike previous years the AI really has a go, passing on zero with average teams ends up around 75% for both teams, it's so good
This game got so many animations you sometimes only see once O_o. I've seen a backwards scissor kick (like the one from karate kid but backwards) pass animation by Tevez, Shoulder pass with C. Ronaldo, both feet (double touch with knee) but instead of the second foot it's controlled with the knee.. so more like foot into knee. First touch volley rabona.
I think you can also give special 'flair' passes when you do scissors on the back of the stick instead of the frontal scissors from a neutral point into backwards pass. So instead of sideways to front, you do sideways to back - and back or to the other side - into pass. You can also cancel out flipflaps and scissors into passes for very cool and slick passes.
Flick into flipflap-akka pass.. whuuttt?!
The so called command list doesn't tell you these things though..
