PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Just tried the default edit.bin from PESEdit and, as I thought, the stock PES 2013 is just crap basically. It really is like basketball where teams only have "ATTACK!" in their mind regardless of the situation, the defenders are always pulled out of position and it's a through-ball haven. What a mess.

Definitely going back to Matt10's settings, it's a shambles of a game without these adjustments.

It's not just Matt's settings but the patches from junkey and now m playing with yair patch and don't think I need Matt's, I might give it a shot and see how it is

Can't agree with any of that. Everyone's complaining about through balls and counter attacking play, well, I nearly never see it. Some games are midfield battles, others are more open and end to end, just as in real life. But the AI will spam through balls if you let it, defend against them properly and it looks to keep the ball and play it around you..

I agree.
In fact, there are numbers to support this opinion. Pes 2013 Cpu even at Top player difficulty is more human-like. Last year with Napoli in Master League i was always at relegation spot.

This year, same difficulty as pes 2012, same 0 bars setting, more or less same team players, i am at Champion League qualifying spots.

If you still have problems with CPU AI being too difficult, try changing your tactics. It changes alot the way your team plays even on defense

And i want to add

Shooting is almost perfect. Not a single thing is wrong about it. There is logic to the fact the ball sometimes is floaty. Posture, shooting power parameter, being pressed by defenders... those elements all concur to create a floaty shot, but if you have enough space to shoot the ball will travel powerful enough, absolutely not floaty.

I have been in the middle east for the last few weeks with no Internet, this has probably already been talked about, but I can't be arsed to read through everything.

Is there a known issue with loading prequal data on the ps3 without the konami patch on?

I get a message that the data isn't supported

When I booted the game up a couple of days ago on my PS3 there was a notice from Konami indicating there was an issue with prequal data and that some people may not be able to use it...

I've finally managed to host the Hitler PES 2013 rant with embedding capabilities. To those of you who have already seen it, sorry for posting again. To those who haven't, please watch :)

And, please guys, share at will!
Anything that can make Konami realise their mistake is worth a try!

Don't the Germans have that strange, wonderful word: love/death, liebestod, or something like that? Half the fun of being obsessed and tortured by this game is to do so with a community of fellow sufferers. Thank you for that...

They still try it at least twice a match, the only difference now is that I have gotten much better at cutting them out. Supercancel is also a must in higher levels of play as you can use it to effectively jostle with the attacker, allowing more time for backup support.

Hello, for PS3 and U.S version i strongly recommend this:

a Second version of this Option File with Argentinian serie A and serie B. is coming soon.

Hi.

Is this compatible with european pes?

My daughter is playing a BAL campaign. This is another broken mode for extremely masochistic people.
She made a midfield player and started with one of the fictional teams.
After a couple of subsititutions in the second half she scored 2 goals as man of the match (a fantastic feature for a girl, being man of the match one has to admit). Next: match she was a substitute again and once again she was man of the match. This happened in 4 consecutive matches and still she wasnt a starter. I told her to watch the graphic how she is in the pecking order as MF, she wasn't even mentioned...But there was good news too, she is the third in the pecking orders of the GK's....another completely broken mode...
Why begin at a ficional club (a couple years ago one had the choice between different teams, last year one had to start at one real club without any choice and now one has no choice but to start for one of the fictional clubs)? The aim of this mode is having a transfer to a better club, but how can you have a (realistic) transfer when you never start for a club that is supposed to be among the weakest teams in the game?

I could mail Konami, but they will answer that they have acted upon the wishes of the community and they want to guarantee us a more enjoyable and realistic gaming experience....

Very realistic and enjoyable indeed.

I wonder if EA have placed some undercover agents in Konami's team that had to make the modes of the game...

I am sorry if this has been asked before: does anyone know where to find a pc-optionfile. Everywhere I look I see this great looking patches, but these fill up the fake leagues, mostly with bundesliga and Championship, and I have a fantasyleague I want to play.

Loving the game, by the way.

That's konami for you take 2 steps forward and 3 back.

I did see a notification when I started the game up a few days ago that the next DLC will resolve issues in game modes but that could be anything really.

The form arrows are also doing my head in. If you play say a copa and your player scores a hatrick chances are he will be purple in the next match. It makes no sense and seems a way for the com to cripple you. Konami really need to adress this as its been an issue for many a year.

Infact they need to relook the entire form arrow thing. I think it should be based on the players performance and should be real time. In other words if your player is blue and he manages to get a goal he could change to green or red mid match or iif he is having a bad game it should affect his form as well.

Most definitely. I completely agree with you.

how do u increase/decrease attack mentality?
Know how in old pes u held like l2 and pressed like o to increase mentailty or x to decrease it? I cant remember but there was 4 bars? Just like fifa 13 has attack ultra attak defend ultra defensive etc...Is it possible to do this in pes 2013 and if so how?

Gamespeed 0, but as someone mentioned here somewhere, I'm sure the ball type plays an influence. Using the default PES 2013 ball on 0 is perfect. But using other balls the game speed seems to play faster. Placebo or not? I'm not sure. I toyed with -1, but in the end I want that blend of slow periods and pulsating riveting periods where the ball is deflecting everywhere in midfield. -1 seems to be just one paced throughout which is a little too unrealistic the other way.

On another note -

PES 2013 will be my exclusive game this year. It has everything I want from a football game, more so than even the dizzy heights of 5/6. It's a fabulous game. It's almost perfect in terms of what I deem to be football, with regards to so many areas that it's just not worth writing an essay about. For the first time in ages I'm not even tempted by FIFA; not even 1%.

I loved 2011. I grew to love 2012. But I always bought the two different titles, just in case. This year I'm saving myself £45.

The best possible praise I can give PES this year is this -

It's a very easy game for me, something that is on the shelf and ready to play at the drop of the hat. When I say easy, I don't mean easy in terms of difficulty, far from it. I just mean I can access it all the time, play my way of playing, enjoy the experience, and get so much out of it nearly all the time. I'm not fighting it and I rarely feel cheated. There is just so much good in the game in terms of changing the point of attack from a pass, to a body movement, to the deft lay-offs using manual.

PES 2011 and 2012 I loved in different ways. But there were undoubted underlying problems. All of PES 2013's problems this year are solely off the pitch, where I care little about anyway. There are touches here and there that could spruce up the on-field action, but I don't think I could complain ever if the game engine was never bettered. I mean how far can a developer go in terms of re-creating realism whilst also getting the cheat script balance so good.

This year I can feel every decision I make. I can feel the impact a player has on the team with different arrows and with different abilities. For the first time in ages it pays to get a pass master on the ball in the middle of the park. Even last year I was splaying 30 yarders by any of my midfielders. This year I cannot. Last year Andy Carroll scored 30 goals a season with his head and had the best strike in Europe; this year I've hardly played him, favouring Suarez and the nimble footwork of Borini.

The CPU effectiveness v human player defender is absolutely spot on. A good defender who maybe slow can still read the game and be effective against good players and win their tackles. But a CPU player who has the attacking flair and dribbling arsenal up his sleeve are lethal. Teams like Spurs I fear now and have to change my entire tactics accordingly, getting involved with a team like that on an attack v attack level will result in their pace shining though.

Zero assists, 20 minute games, gamespeed 0. The game unfolds like a fkin spectacle.

I agree a lot what you say and have been unable to play pes since pes6 so stuck on fifa since 11.

I got pes 2013 today and wow having come from 3 years of fifa and 1 week constant fifa 13 its a breath of fresh air and makes me realise how bad fifa is...though it has a lot going for it...the games are same same all the time its so fake all flash and little substance...formations dont matter, players dont matter, strategies dont matter.

What summed it up for me just now was I was playing a game with real madrid and had Di Maria on the right wing...i get a counter attack and for some reason di maria in wide on the left wing, goodness know how he ended up there but the point is in fifa that would never happen. Fifa is so rigid all over its compleetely fixed, there is no football to be played in the park its all about what you can do when u reach the oppoenents box...pes has football to be played all over on every area of the pitch and players get out of postiiton and all kinds of weird stuff goes on.

It looks real, feels real and plays real. When i wathc the replays its like moves and attacks and errors that u see in games IRL...I realy like fifa on human vs human its arcadey a lot but fun. However versus cpu its just not doing it for me also individuailty and strategy is hardly noticeable..PES has that in abudance.

THe perfect balance of realism sim and arcade video game enjoyment.

What dificulty is better to play ? I feel I'm being cheated, cpu goals simply don't convince me, that's disaponting, some weird things happening, and cpu still scores from every free kick.

Hello again everyone!

It's been a while since I've browsed these forums properly having been working about 30 hours a week over the summer and generally just having a good time with my mates - plus the fact I was without internet for over 3 months after moving into the new house!

With that in mind, I apologise in advance for any things I say that are widely known and discussed already, but I thought I would share my views on the game from the few days I've played it so far, I'll mostly talk about the gameplay.

It may just be that "honeymoon" stage of everything seeming new (especially having skipped PES 2012) plus the placebo effects of various new controls that I don't yet fully understand, but this version has seriously impressed me purely from an on-the-pitch gameplay perspective (my priority, I can simply play friendlies with various teams and enjoy the football despite there being nothing "at stake").

On zero assistance the football you can play is incredibly realistic, to a greater extent than any PES (or other football game) to date. Previously I always got the feeling that playing a kind of careful and patient passing game was just something I'd do to satisfy myself when I could have just instead diagonally passed forward a few times for the same end result - this time around though, it seems to actually reward you.
My playing style at the moment is to stroke the ball around my midfield and defence (dynamic one-two is brilliant for this) until I can either release a wide man or get a midfield maestro in a bit of space to run at and unlock the defence.

The AI backs this approach up wonderfully - your whole team gradually pushes forward as a unit, constantly making clever runs to give you options or act as decoys, great stuff.

The dribbling is top notch too, I love the R1+R2 speed burst, it mimics quite well how you go about dribbling in real football. No fancy bollocks, just well judged use of agility and pace.

Finally PES has a proper "finesse" shot that curls, the first goal I scored was a peach with Rooney from outside the box (may upload it at some point).

The ball physics on crosses is lovely, as is the variety you get by double tapping or holding R2.

There are issues and imperfections, of course there are, and there always will be in any video game (or any facet of life for that matter) - my biggest gripes are;

- The passing assistance makes the game very rigid, now this isn't an issue if you don't use the assists, but if you play online then you can bet that the majority (if not all) of your opponents will be on at least two bars, and it shows.
Just try making a long pass with assistance on - it goes directly to the feet of the recipient, and you can completely fill the bar without overhitting the pass.
Also, the through balls seem very accurate and difficult to intercept sometimes - online it's happened a few times where people just ping a first time chipped through ball in to a speedy player out wide and you're instantly torn apart, as a result of zero creativity or decent football.
It's infuriating, I don't mind losing at football games, in fact I embrace it and sometimes even enjoy losing to skilful players as you can learn from their techniques - it's just when people use cheap exploits to compensate for an inability to actually play the game as intended that I get pissed off.

- Long passing is too inconsistent - many times I've just wanted to switch the play to a less congested area, but not filled the bar enough and ended up just gifting possession away in a dangerous position. There's too fine a line between underhit and completely spanked into the stands, this pretty much forces me to keep the ball on the floor except for clearances and crosses.

- Finishing clear-cut chances is far too simple, when one-on-one a simple shot feint or controlled shot will more often than not be a surefire way to beat even the best keepers in the game, and if you get any sort of good contact on a cross, you'll score. I've had a couple of games where I've had about 7 shots on target and scored 5 goals.

- The double tap tackle, does anyone have any success with this? I'm glad it was added to the game, but it seems to react too late for me and I'm just left for dust most of the time.

- Where the hell is 2v2 online? I'm talking about both formats of this - 2v2 as in 4 different consoles (PES6 had this...) and 2v2 with 2 consoles, each with a guest user (PES 2011 had this...).
Now I've had quite a thorough search through the menus of 2013 and have come up empty, I'm hoping that I've missed something obvious and it's still in there somewhere, but I fear that's just wishful thinking.
One of my mates and I have always had those PES gaming sessions, even back in my school days we'd go round each other's houses and spend a few hours just playing co-op Master League then go online (over the years beer was introduced into the mix much to the detriment of the quality of our football :P) and now that isn't even possible?
It's mind-boggling how PES6, made in 2006 could have far better online features (both forms of 2v2, actual communication in-game, ability to quit before kick-off without losing etc.) yet 6 years later all we can do is 1v1 with no form of trash talking. Hell I even kind of miss being able to make people watch my replays :D.
Oh and what about online Legends Mode? I know that sucked pretty hard before but I'd (obviously) much rather Konami worked on it to make it worthwhile rather than just scrap it entirely.

I'm hoping that this game has the depth to last the year, but it's doing the job for me at the moment :).

If anyone has any feedback, answers, advice, suggestions and whatnot in response to this post then go ahead :).

GTM has said to delete his OF as the latest konami patch won't fix the glitch that has made every OF makers file crash.
He is starting it again and will have it out shortly after the 11/10 DLC.

Just had an immense 2-2 draw as Spurs v Fulham, the play was so realistic. The game burst into life with 15 mins to go, ending with me clawing back a draw having been deservedly two goals down with five minutes to go.

Try not to laugh at my defending for Fulham's second goal, playing with a hangover isn't the greatest idea in the world!

But I love how my goals came about, Modric grabbed both with the first being lashed into the net after Bale's shot was blocked, the second a low shot rifled home after the CPU failed to clear their lines and the clearance was charged down.

Tip for low shots. Just tap the shoot button so it barely registers on the power meter, the result can be seen with Modric's second goal.

Such an awesome game!
