PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Yesterday, playing h2h againts mate, me using barca, passing around just feels good. The movement of their players impress me. so different when i am using other team.

Animation wise, i could understand that no major overhaul because of limited current animation/game engine. But for night match lighting ohh ffs, they put very nice one in the day match, why so lazy to put effort in night lighting

Why no fricken afternoon games???

ridiculous omission!

I am first to put my hands up and say I was very wrong about this game. Its football crack, its incredible.

Play it more and more, it has so much depth.

(This is coming from someone who hasnt bought PES since PES 6)

well well well

After persisting with FIFA and it's horrible bright kits, super fast gameplay etc I thought it's time to trade it in whilst I still get high trade in for it.

PES is a breath of fresh air this year. I am in love again. Its like that feeling I used to feel back in the good old PES 1,2,3,4 and 5 days.

Love is back. The king is back.

just play PSG v Chievo on Superstar (10 minutes). best game of video game football I have had in many many years.

What control settings you use? :P

I am not manual player I admit so please dont flame me! I turn the assist down for passing though and use manual shoot.

:)

At least for myself, I' didn't like afternoon games in PES. They had an unrealistic lighting, more suitable to a Final Fantasy love scene. Never seen a late afternoon real life match with lights off.

if you think lighting is bad in PES go and play FIFA 13. Night games have never looked so bad in a video game before. One of the reason I stopped playing it

(yes I am shallow)

Play 15 minute games if you want to experience at its very best.

Think he means halves

never ever! 30 min a game!? inlcuding throw ins and stuff... its gonna take 40! holy! :D

i used to play 10 but the last 3 years i stick to 15 min matches! not halves as that would be 7,5 min in settings! ^^

having a lot of fun with 2013 right now! won the CL on professional. will try again on top player. right now i try to win the copy with santos but i need to get used to the south american teams!!

btw: last minute goals make me scream like a child... again! 4 me, best pes on ps3!

FIRST TOUCH RUN AROUND BABY!

One of the ways the AI cheats or gets its ways is when sometimes when I score first, all of a sudden my players start playing like they are a pregnant, lazy, talentless, and the most irrititating bunch pansies out there. That kind of cheating is just low from Konami. My players can't even pass at some points.

Now, each and every AI team I play against is like playing against team Konami for me. Everytime I score, I scream fuck you Konami, take that and shove it up your no League moded ass.

Maybe Konami have unwittingly created the first self aware AI, which wants to win at all costs. Nah, they'll save that for Fox Engine.

The king really is back, I can't believe it.
I agree 15 minute games is the way to go, no bars on passing, auto shooting for me, It feels like the PS2 shooting on this setting so obv no need to go manual.
I'm an offline player so the tough AI is amazing for me, really welcome.
Not so welcome is no League Mode, perfect for those who want to recreate a Prem season without all the hassle and buying player in ML.

But on the pitch this game is amazing, I really love it.

It's a shame that PES has the same advantage rule as last year, that is, you can foul someone and if you win the ball you will get a yellow card, but if you allow the other team to keep possession a little while after the foul, all is forgiven.

Referees come straight from Konami headquarters, they come with short term memory. All is forgotten is the more appropriate thing to say here.

15 minute games or 15 minute halves?

tim you see any major differences with the pc vs the xbox version. I go back and forth on the pc version. At some points it feels like 2012, others is does not. The biggest thing im seeing is that the player movement does not seem as good as the demo. Regardless the tactic.. need to keep messing around...

This game is brilliant.

The sheer variety of play is staggering. Had four games in a row last nigh to finish off my first season campaign and the range was incredible A comfortable 1-0 win v West Brom in which they sat back. I scored quite late on but was always the better side. They then came at me last 15 minutes, but I held on. Second was the last game of the season, losing 1-0 to Fulham at Craven.

Into the new season beat the new boys 2-0, before an exhilarating game v Chelsea at the Bridge. Chelsea hit me with everything they had and at half time it was miraculously 0-0 after Chelsea had 17 shots and 12 on target to my 5 shots. Second half it was a different Mata (so to speak), I played an extra midfielder and decided to man mark Torres with him, the game flipped on its head. Although Chelsea were still dangerous I was creeping back into the game. Suarez had some space finally in the 75th minute to unleash a devastating drive, 1-0. Chelsea came back strong and Reina was out of this world, multiple saves, world class ones too. Then a free kick into the box with Adam with lofted R2, a cushioned header back away from goal for Sterling to nod with power for 2-0......the fist pumping began!

This game has definitely got 'it' this year. It was back to its sweaty palm best last night. The ricochets, the goal scrambles, the periods of midfield scrapping as teams can't retain possession, the pinball frenzied five minutes, then calm restored with both teams passing it slowly. Great stuff.

Manual passing is a dream this year. Totally and utterly a dream. It makes the game so much richer because you start cherishing each and every player ten times more in terms of what they can pull off and what they can't. Players like Shelvey for example, when I hit that 50/50 ball and it goes wayward or too hard or whatever I just smile and think 'unlucky lad' because you know it's out of his remit. I seem more in love with the players BECAUSE of their failings this year if you can understand that. It makes me want to developy players for the first time and give squad players more of a chance for the first time in ages, because I can see and feel the difference between almost every player.

Suarez, I can try anything....literally anything. His explosiveness is awesome and he is the threat each and every match in the final third. When Gerrard's playing I almost never lose. Sold Enrique (for an outrageous amount mind) and brought in this other guy and immediately you can see and feel the differences between the two. Some bad, some good. For example, the new guy is keen to overlap and get the ball in early and has an equally good left foot as Enrique had. Meanwhile I'm investing a lot of time and energy into players like Borini, Sterling, and even like Robinson. Carroll has hardly played a game, whereas last year his over-powering heading ability ensured he was first on the team sheet...even ahead of Gerrard and Suarez!

I can't say enough good things about this game. I've got two full games if anybody wants me to break them down and analyse them in terms of giving some tips and tactics in Superstar mode. I'll also put up some good goals I've scored so far in Superstar.

New season......2 from 2 :) Could it be my year?

Are you using a particular option file mate ?

p.s. Using the early cross button with a fair bit of power has gotten me a couple of nice headed goals too ;)

I thought early cross had no power bar and was just hold L1 then press long ball ?

My crossing is all to often too close to the keeper, so any info to help will be good.

I noticed something and would like to confirm: when you play a game with the same teams and stadium and pes2013 ball the game is smooth and slow as I like, but if I select the same team and stadium, but with a different ball, like Nike Maxim, ball speed increases and even size seems to be smaller. Can test there?

Really ??? Can you elaborate with more info or testing.

Picked two random team. I was Zenit and CPU was Chievo. I won 2-0 and it was a great game.

My little problem with pes13 is that it looks like pes11 and 12 and is clearly the game we should have got in 2011

I don't know if there's a power bar actually. Maybe it was a placebo effect but I held it longer than normal and it worked so I'm sticking to it lol.

Yeah I know what you mean about getting too close to the keeper. Last night I tried just pressing the cross button as I'm running down the wing. Didn't hold direction and even though I'm playing on 0 bars, the crosses would get into that danger spot.

Holding down R2 will give you a lofted cross so your player can run onto it. It's pretty finnicky to be honest and I'm still working out the best way to consistently put the ball where I want. Would be good if people share their tips here if they find a good method. Aiming the stick to certain spots seems to work for the near post but not really for the penalty spot from what I can tell.

How do I turn down the sound of the ball?! I don't want to hear the thud of every pass!

I like it. I wish they had left in the nice thump when you took a crack at goal. Reminds me of the microphones near goal they use at stadiums. Gives you that satisfaction when you latch onto a stinging shot!

I notice a lot of people complained about it and they turned it right down :(

Yeah, I love that crosses are much more difficult this year instead of 2012 laser-guided ones. It's only proper that so many crosses are caught by the leaping gk, in my opinion.

Of the many variations, to keep it away from the keeper, aside from the early cross, is to occasionally switch your left and right midfielder (so that they are on their "wrong" side). Then get them racing down the wing with the ball and press R2 to put the brakes on. Usually the defending SB will over-commit. Cut slightly inside and now your midfielder is on his "correct" foot for an inswinging cross. I've scored a few near-post glancing headers this way, although sending it to the far post often leaves the gk completely dumbfounded.

--Good day.

edit: side midfielders with strong non-dominant foot precision and use means you don't have to invert them, of course

Guys, after all this days playing the game.
What difficulty level is the more suitable for a great challenging "no AI cheating" matches against CPU? :P

@Deluxe : If you're on a PC, the best shot is at gameplay mods. Otherwise, Top Player AI plays a great game but 'the thru balls' are there!
