PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Lol so true, although not tempted by FIFA this year yet

Neither was I but gluttony got the better of me and I haven't played PES since Thursday night!

Exactly! And for nearly a decade plus!

Damn, that's so right and also so depressing.

FIFA IMO has to change their game code completely in my book, it's just too static, too rigid, too predictable. They can incrementally add this and that, minor things like this first touch nonsense, but eventually they will run out of minor touches and will need to revamp the game engine itself.

You make a lot of great points, and I'm more inclined, still, towards what PES is/strives for than FIFA, but don't underestimate how the changes to first touch/deflections (as you say, things PES already had) make a big difference to the FIFA experience.

(And I say that as someone who considers PES his wife and FIFA a mistress who can only give him one-night stands rather than a deep long-lasting love).

Yeah bit gutted seeing as on Friday he said it'd be out this weekend . Still, I guess beggars can't be choosers! Just more annoying for me as I haven't installed V1 and am waiting for V1.5.

OK for me to add your gamertag on Xbox Live?

Sure! Though I haven't played PES online for years but if I do then it would be good to have some opponents to hand me a thrashing or two ;))

The option file should hopefully be out today, great work by the team to get the file out but I'm gonna have to spend ages then resetting a ton of stuff. I wish they would bring out files with just kits and emblems alone. I'm gonna have to reset all club formations, player edits etc as I just want the game as it is out of the box but with proper kits and badges.

I'll most likely be playing the Portuguese Primeira Liga in ML so while I want all the official kits etc, I've heard the OF will have the made up div 2 teams as Bundesliga and a championship clubs. I'll have to reset all those, can't have Watford playing in Portugal!

Though I'm glad people are "kicking up a fuss" about the fantasy elements, because it's a dangerous road to go down, if people are content with this addition, then where does it end? Tighter shirts decrease wind resistance and improve speed +5? Blue hair increases style and flair +5 Skill Abilities?

+5 Exaggerating to Me

I can deal with it now, just don't allow it to return for 2014. How about a proper career mode instead?

The fact that other training items such as training poles, dumbbells, cycling machine etc. have been included, items that are actually used to help train players in real life, suggest that Konami are not going into a complete pokemon-style fantasy, they are finding a mix between sim and arcade elements. Each user can weed out, adjust or use the items that appeal to his/her approach, sim, arcade or a happy medium of the 2.

thank you mate. I havent bought a PES game since PES 6 so I am little out of the loop.

Have they really taken 2v2 out of PES 2013?! Because its the game mode I play the most (over Xbox Live with a friend)

You had hard-on the other week re Fifa so why the sudden change.

No offence but if people like yourself keep switching between games after getting bored then how do we expect these companies to make the perfect game?

In my experience its better to pick one game and stick with it.
Flicking between the two wont help.

That said I have both this year but only cos my new PS3 came with Fifa13 - I wouldnt have touched it otherwise. But Ill be playing PES13 for 95% of the time. Ill only play FIFA13 online with mates as they cant stand PES.

Folks should cut the crap already about the stat boosting issues concerning the training items.
It's almost like they're bashing it because 'other' people might use it. So what, it's not like it's your ML right? So what does it matter?

My experience on line with manual shooting is the following:

- it is totally manual when it comes to normal shots
- It becomes assited on volleys.

i can hardly hit the goal with normal shots, i go wide most of the time, yet i hit some amusing volley (goals or posts).

Still on line i think i'd rather try a game with 1/2 bar assited passing and manual shooting that the other way around. On manul passing there is way too much confusion and ball chasing even with good players.

but on line is not my cup of tea really. people have already become so skilled in dribbling that they can keep the ball forever. pretty annoying.

I've modded my game to the extreme now, including the one that removes any stat boosts from the boots and i've disabled player development, transfers etc. Playing my Bilbao ML game last night was the best night of PES I've had it in a while, I didn't want to put the controller down.

What setting do you have for JENKEYS mod?

thats not correct though. volleys are just easier (sometimes) because you usualy have time to set them up (since theyre stalling in the air). i dont know how you can say that, because if you aim left of goal on a volley, it will go left of the goal. its exactly the same.

are you on xbox ?

I just read that in the october DLC there will be an optin to quit a game after first half.

Is that so? It would be the silliest feature in the history of on line gaming. People losing will quit!!!

ML modding is not so great, exactly why we are forced to play international games a day before the club game.

They removed League Mode, implemented boot-shit (can be modded out though), yet the gameplay is far better than any other football game. But, I think they did all the non-gameplay aspects for a reason. So that their gameplay would be particularly given a focus and appreciated? Not so good Konami!

Won my croup in Copa with Flamengo, many awesome games, my first two were draws but I won two games against Emelec, 2-0 and 3-2 (after going down 0-2!) Vagner Love not only has one of the coolest names in Football but is an absolute goal machine, and he better be since Flamengo aren't exactly overloaded with strikers. Ronaldinho has been good (he is wasted in my control since I hardly use tricks) but he is permanently tired after his first game and resting him seems to do very little. Vagner Love, on the other hand, has endless stamina and I only rested him for half of the last game, since I had already won the group.

Right now I am on professional, 15 minute games, and the zero pass assistance seems to keep things challenging enough, for now.

maybe the winner gets the points still, wouldnt make sense otherwise
but the quiter wont loose or wont get his ball flat due to usual quits

You contradict yourself so much in that post I don't even know why I am replying :APPLAUD:

But I see your points.

FIFA I need to stick with for 2v2 online as Konami have taken it out apparently (as well as included lots of other crap).

So both games have so many negatives this year. FIFA DOES play a great game of football but cameras are too much of an issue for me as is fast gameplay but this isnt the place for that.

I am not a fanboi of a gaming franchise which is why I always play both games every year and decide which is best. This year there are too many faults with both games IMVHO.

@Wilko - I hope you are keeping to a strict policy of only signing Basque players

That'll be easy, I've turned transfers off for the CPU and I won't be signing anyone either. I don't like the random transfers these games throw up anyway.

@Wilko22. Without gameplay mods, is the build up play (CPU) any good?

Not overly impressed with it, if you keep a solid defensive line and frustrate the CPU by limiting their options, they will pass it back with a bit more frequency. But if you get frustrated and press, leaving gaps, they will exploit them with annoying accuracy.

While it may be a bit gluttonous:))there is absolutely nothing wrong with owning and enjoying both games.

Indeed.

Frustrating though that it seems to be the case that what one game does badly, the other will do brilliantly and vice-versa.

not saying there is anything wrong with owning both but imo if you own both you wont enjoy either because of the constant swapping.

What one game offers the other game dont and vice versa so you will always be thinking I wish this game had what the other one does then think the same when playing the other game.

As I said I own both but didnt intend to. Argos chucked in FIFA13 as a sweetner.

GTMs option file for PS3 is out now!
Over 700 files!

Excellent - will look after work, the WENB v.2 crashing constanlty is annyoing now, it's a great option file as far as detail and kits go though.

C'mon now, where'd that come from? Why does it have to be polar extremes in here? You're either labelled a Konami clique or you're not? What if you're not in any clique but all you care about is gameplay? I don't like what they've done to ML, but that won't stop me from playing their game because the football is so addicting. In what clique do I fall in then?

Of course I want the perfect game but we don't have it atm. So from now until PES 2014 I'll play this, yet that doesn't mean I'm automatically happy with or an apologist of Konami's ML or league issues. I need my football fix and credit where it's due they deserve my money for the good gameplay.

What we can do regarding ML and league modes is complain through emails or open a petition and send it to them.

Great post.

Yeah totally, I've tried a sample of ML to see what it's like, the item slots aren't that bad but the boots inclusion, while admittedly utter shite, is nothing compared to other ML issues such as fixtures and effin' international matches taking place a day before a club match. It's in there every year yet no-one in the entire company sees it and think that's strange?

This is somethig we should be up in arms about just as much if not more so than Bootgate and League removal and other bits and bobs.

Ridiculous that in 2012 - they cannot implement realistic calendar - mental !

Agreed, bad enough for me to be tempted by FIFA so it looks like my usual pattern will play out -

Love PES, out of curiorisity try FIFA, enjoy the things PES doesn't have, eventually get bored of FIFA, go back to PES and remember everything that made me first like it, cast FIFA to one side, play PES until the next release hoping one of them will adopt some of the good bits of the other so I can save myself a few quid.

Repeat until fade.

Brilliant - You are not alone.

Im always a bit confused by the 'PES vs FIFA' rivalry with gamers. It's exactly right that if you enjoy them then you should get them both. I love my racing games, but just because I love the Forza games doesn't mean I won't buy, say, F1 2012 for example. I love Unchartered, but still find room to play Batman Arkham City etc.

There is the point to be made that playing both games simltaneously makes both harder to master though. I plan to learn as much as I can get out of PES before even thinking about getting FIFA (by which time it'll be cheap). But the whole attitude of only getting one out of some kind of misplaced loyalty is bizarre. Konami and EA both don't give a shit about their customers and would sooner bleed them dry. Though that accolade applies to EA a lot more.

I must have traded PES for Fifa and vice versa about 8 times each last year.
Couldnt get into either due to constant swapping.

I took exception to the bog standard impersonal reply I received from Konami re: League mode.

Here is their latest reply, hot off the press:

"Dear Martin,

Thank you for your reply.

We do very much value you as a customer and appreciate all your feedback and concerns. Our customer's dissatisfaction at the lack of a League Mode in PES 2013 is something that we are very aware of. We can only reiterate that this decision was based on careful research and feedback by our developers over the years. We understand that it is a cherished mode for many of our players and we are doing all we can to pass you feedback on and make sure that your voice is heard by the right people.

Thanks again for your continued dedication and support.

Best regards,

Your Konami Support Team"
