You know what, real soccer isn't always played in slow motion. You can actually have a fast paced, end to end match you know! I like a balanced game pace that can mix it up between slow, medium and fast, just like in real life, not merely one or the other.

i can't understand why people like FIFA13. it got so many exploits. hitting 3 buttons you are 1on1 with the goalkeeper. the same bullshit every year. this year pes is really good, but it's lacking here and there. but still sad about league mode

I think thats it. If you gave ML a go and avoided all the fluff as best you can, it ain't perfect but you'd still have the league mode in some form. Don't use the boots or training, turn player development off, switch transfers to only me and don't make any, switch off the extra managerial budget stuff, and only play for one season at a time if you're worried about contracts running down and stuff. Its annoying, but you've actually got the game now, it surely wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

I'm primarily an online player and the amount of exploiters, abusers, disconnect cheats, lag cheats, fk glitch abusers and others can almost ruin it for you. But when you do get good games, it almost justifies the whole thing and makes it worth it.

Yep, Master league is still great. The whole magic boots thing was completely blown out of proportion. No wonder Konami told that idiot over at that other site to STFU.

A few of us on here were avoiding the meltdown and said to wait until the game was released, that you could probably ignore it, calm down it won't ruin the game etc. but we were laughed at for being blind loyalists to Konami. Now, guess what? I can hardly hear anyone talking about magic boots, however distasteful the idea in principle.

I use a combination of free movement, with the natural 360 degree movement, and the contain button when necessary to delay/hold up attackers. That way you can vary the styles of defending. if you're ONLY using contain and/or defensive tracking then I'm not surprised you feel "locked on". IRL players do hunker down in defensive stances, and also mix it up with "free-er" movement.

Hello. Just joined this forum.
Pissed off no league mode this time.
Getting to grips now with the Master League after really struggling even on professional, after a bit of tweaking its O.K. now.
Think one thing is bonkers in Master League, when your players come and complain they are being overused. Never played ML before this time. Bought every version since the beginning only ever bought one this gen Fifa.

I have no interest in the Premier League, so I created my own edited Blue Square North league-with all the players,badges and even logos from last season, its not perfect as I have only used the limited editing on the disc it took ages-(I was off work five weeks and unable to walk so had plenty of time on my hands). Got most of it up to date now for this season.

Just like playing off line, on X Box, not bothered about anything on line.

I only will play the CL mode and maybe World Cup and exhibition games I don't like Master League I am still angry that they decided to delete the league mode.

That was the biggest mistake they have done together with those magic boots in league mode I won't have that problem with magic boots but they decided to delete league mode so I have to play a ML with magic boots and that sucks.

Is it something like giving players stronger attributes like speed and shooting or something?

It's exactly as you say – a trivial stats-boosting feature that you don't even have to use.

A site administrator on another PES-related website discovered the boots feature in his early review copy of the game and went crazy about it. He said that you cannot possibly play Master League without having to deal with Magic Boots.

Hysteria followed, to the point now where expressing any disgruntlement about the game warrants a quick mention of 'Magic Boots' to buff your credentials.

It's been decided that Magic Boots and the removal of League Mode are inextricably linked. No proof is required because it's just so obvious.

Since the game's release, many people have played Master League and found it just as enjoyable as ever. Somehow – crazily! – they have been able to either ignore Magic Boots, or (this is truly shocking) play along with them and use them as the minor feature that they are.

Under the word 'scapegoat' in next year's 2013 Oxford English Dictionary, you will find Magic Boots listed as an example.

You all know how bad is BaL this year, well who love to play this mode know that .. know how bad is teamate A.I. how bad is hole interface, vision of this mode , but one of the most annoying thing that happened to me is that ..i saw Hitler there! .. yes

@ fd - All players wear plain black boots at the start of Master League (including opponents) and you unlock new boots as you progress which can be assigned to players. The type of boot gives the player certain stat boosts.

You can take the viewpoint of Keith that it's trivial or you can view it as unrealistic on two levels (stat-boosting and players not wearing correct boots). Depends on your take on these things. I'm in the latter camp.

Chalk me and many others here up in the latter camp as well. Nothing personal but some people here on the forum feel that their viewpoint of the boots issue is the only credible one and that any forum member who feels otherwise is being childish and trivial.
We all have passion for PES otherwise we wouldn't be here so it just stands to reason that different aspects of the game may be very important to some and not to others. Respect really should be the order of the day when debating them.

And when I said on +1 the difficulty was upped a tad, I meant because of the slight increase in speed obviously I have less time to think. On 0 I always felt I have more time. That's all.

Oh and I'm on 360, if that matters.

I've recently started an ML campaign with the old lady of Turin, (as I wanted to build a team around Pirlo because the guy absolutely oozes class). I'm currently about ten games in. 20 minutes, zero assistance, professional level.
Managed to sign Ronaldinho and had to qualify for the champions league.
While enjoying the experience, it somehow lacked the immersive qualities that we should expect from this mode.
So, I thought to myself, "What about the boots?". I assigned some to Ron and another pair to Jaquinta. What a difference they made. Both players scored hat tricks respectively and completely owned the field of play.
In my opinion, this has made what has become a stale concept, fun again. Which is great for people like me who don't play offline that much.
They weren't even nikes or adidas, they were vintage pes boots, coloured slightly different to the default black.
While I'm all in for hardcore simulation, I also like a bit of entertainment thrown in. Looking forward to playing more games and unlocking more boots. This is quality and will probably keep me from going online for a while. Love it. Best thing they have done to Master League in years.

see, to me, that is anything but fun. i couldnt enjoy some crappy pokemon card booster to make my players evolve. just too far out for me

Pulling out the "respect" argument is a bit rich from your side (and the people who share your point of view).

The ones who called for patience to wait and see if it really was a gamebreaker, were being labelled as blind Konami loyalists who agreed with everything they did. Hardly respectful was it? All we were trying to do was stay objective and see how deep the effect of these magic boots really went when we actually had the game in our hands.

Since the game's release, it has hardly even been a talking point, which is strange seeing how the forums were in meltdown when it was revealed. I respect that people don't like it, I'm not a fan of it either, but surely you can see that it wasn't quite the earth-shattering gamebreaker that it was made out to be. In fact, many people have chosen to ignore it and barely notice it at all, it certainly isn't forced upon you as a feature you HAVE to use.
 
I have decided to give this another go after the frantic pace of FIFA starting to annoy me. EA game plays good football and I think it is still one of best releases ever but I miss the charm of PES.

I now own both games on 360. Going to play this for ML and FIFA for 2v2 online.

Anyone know where I download latest option file with all PL kits etc? And what about chants and stadia, is there option file for them?

Thats a separate (albeit vaild) argument. I'm talking about the specific effect on ML, has it really ruined it completely for those that usually enjoy Master League? For the most part thats not the vibe I'm getting from the forums; something that you wouldn't have believed to be the case with all the pre-release vitriol.

And as mentioned, a ML with a lot of management options turned off is still as close as you can get to league mode. What can we do if they don't listen to our complaints? We either don't buy the game, or find a work-around.

This has really surprised me to be honest. I never would have thought League Mode was as popular as it seems to be. In all my years playing PES I've never played it. Actually, I've never played any mode other than the Master League.
