PES 2013 Discussion Thread

I have decided to give this another go after the frantic pace of FIFA starting to annoy me. EA game plays good football and I think it is still one of best releases ever but I miss the charm of PES.

I now own both games on 360. Going to play this for ML and FIFA for 2v2 online.

Anyone know where I download latest option file with all PL kits etc? And what about chants and stadia, is there option file for them?

Anyone?

Thats a separate (albeit vaild) argument. I'm talking about the specific effect on ML, has it really ruined it completely for those that usually enjoy Master League? For the most part thats not the vibe I'm getting from the forums; something that you wouldn't have believed to be the case with all the pre-release vitriol.

What's happened ever since Adam nailed his theses to the doors of Konami Towers has been very odd indeed: a surge of rancour about and towards a bogeyman (Magic Boots) that has now been shown not to be real*, but which must be kept real, and constantly referenced in the context of generally having a moan about things.

*not real in the sense of not unbalancing gameplay; the aesthetic appearance of black boots is a whole other issue, and the only one I have a smidgen of sympathy with, but even that's not enough IMO to justify the ongoing sourness and sulking around Magic Boots.

But then everyone has black boots and it ruins the realism and looks shite :((.

Tbh while playing I've completely forgotten about them as I was too immersed in the games at hand. I agree we shouldn't be dealing with this in the first place and I wouldn't want to see it next year but tbh it's not even close to being a game-breaker for me with the gameplay we have. You can give them safety boots and I'd still play it :)

And I do know you do like your boots. I remember you posting pics of your new pair of shiny boots every now and then ;)

Pulling out the "respect" argument is a bit rich from your side (and the people who share your point of view).

The ones who called for patience to wait and see if it really was a gamebreaker, were being labelled as blind Konami loyalists who agreed with everything they did. Hardly respectful was it? All we were trying to do was stay objective and see how deep the effect of these magic boots really went when we actually had the game in our hands.

Since the game's release, it has hardly even been a talking point, which is strange seeing how the forums were in meltdown when it was revealed. I respect that people don't like it, I'm not a fan of it either, but surely you can see that it wasn't quite the earth-shattering gamebreaker that it was made out to be. In fact, many people have chosen to ignore it and barely notice it at all, it certainly isn't forced upon you as a feature you HAVE to use.

:TU:

@Jamezinho and others, you have the game anyway so why not try ML? Like someone else suggested you can turn off development and transfers, ignore the boots which is tucked away under the items tab and surely you'd have a good experience? I understand your issues with it and I also wouldn't want it in next year, but if you already have the game might as well enjoy it and make something out of it, especially now we have very good gameplay to enjoy :)

i think head to head offline versus mate in living room is the best mode..., isn't it ? :P

I love passing play in this game. Actually, cpu opponent passes aroud too whenever we are tight in defense.

I stopped setting offside trap to auto-on now. It wasn't working for me and I felt it was a reason CPU was playing many through balls.

Now I'm not sure which one of these is forcing CPU to pass more and play less through balls:
a) Switch off auto-offside trap.
b) Top player/Superstar difficulty.
c) Playing 0 pass assistance.

It's not an option for me purely from an aesthetic standpoint.

I would have completely forgotten about the magic boots had there been a stand-alone league mode to get my football fix, but now it's inescapable if you want to play a league format.

This game is on borrowed time unfortunately as far as I'm concerned.

I'll leave it there. I'm going to stay away from this part of the forum for a while because unless you're part of the Konami-excusing clique, it's not worth posting here any more.

good to know :CONFUSE: konami have fucked up in many areas but they have got the gameplay down

anyone know fifa & pes sales for 2013 ? would be interesting to know how they are doing, and compared to theirlast years sales, especially pes since they got an early release

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (Warez talk of any kind will be punished with a ban!)

Can someone who is a modder tell me about the magic boots, can they be fixed so that when u start your ML game your players and the opponents have different boots, not black boots.
Or can they at least be unlocked so you can put boots on ur players so your whole team doesn't have black boots from the 60's?

I would really appreciate if someone could answer these questions.

is there anybody with an idea? thanks

C'mon now, where'd that come from? Why does it have to be polar extremes in here? You're either labelled a Konami clique or you're not? What if you're not in any clique but all you care about is gameplay? I don't like what they've done to ML, but that won't stop me from playing their game because the football is so addicting. In what clique do I fall in then?

Of course I want the perfect game but we don't have it atm. So from now until PES 2014 I'll play this, yet that doesn't mean I'm automatically happy with or an apologist of Konami's ML or league issues. I need my football fix and credit where it's due they deserve my money for the good gameplay.

What we can do regarding ML and league modes is complain through emails or open a petition and send it to them.

Agree with Lami. With all the pre-release controversy surrounding game modes. boots, boosts etc etc, I was really 50-50 on whether or not game breakers would surface.

You know what, nothing has been an issue FOR ME personally. I play offline ML. Boots don't worry me, hairbands don't worry me, lack of league doesn't worry me. It may so.

If the football on the pitch (which for me is like 90% the game) doesn't hold my attention then I'm not bothered. PES 2013 replicates football beautifully this year. I've even been enjoying the equipment and items side of things, which I never previously thought possible.

I agree that KONAMI appear to continually shoot themselves in the foot with stuff taken out each and every year for no apparent reason (and if they ever mess with ML to an extreme level then it will be ta-ta), but analysing both titles in terms of simulating football, there is just no contest in my eyes; I mean break it down and analyse a game of football and the two titles ar simply on different levels in terms of realism, positioning, movement and build up play.

I've modded my game to the extreme now, including the one that removes any stat boosts from the boots and i've disabled player development, transfers etc. Playing my Bilbao ML game last night was the best night of PES I've had it in a while, I didn't want to put the controller down.

Though I'm glad people are "kicking up a fuss" about the fantasy elements, because it's a dangerous road to go down, if people are content with this addition, then where does it end? Tighter shirts decrease wind resistance and improve speed +5? Blue hair increases style and flair +5 Skill Abilities?

+5 Exaggerating to Me

I can deal with it now, just don't allow it to return for 2014. How about a proper career mode instead?

5 home games in a row is worse than the bootgate.

Yeah totally, I've tried a sample of ML to see what it's like, the item slots aren't that bad but the boots inclusion, while admittedly utter shite, is nothing compared to other ML issues such as fixtures and effin' international matches taking place a day before a club match. It's in there every year yet no-one in the entire company sees it and think that's strange?

Thought i'd just been unlucky with having so many home games in a row, seems not.

Agreed, bad enough for me to be tempted by FIFA so it looks like my usual pattern will play out -

Love PES, out of curiorisity try FIFA, enjoy the things PES doesn't have, eventually get bored of FIFA, go back to PES and remember everything that made me first like it, cast FIFA to one side, play PES until the next release hoping one of them will adopt some of the good bits of the other so I can save myself a few quid.

Repeat until fade.

Lol so true, although not tempted by FIFA this year yet

Exactly! And for nearly a decade plus!

An half decent camera (i keep switching cameras 30 times a game) and a less annoying sound effect with also boost the visual quite a bit. Game textures are good but poor cameras and shitty audio don't help. Don't understand why the got of rid of 2010 cameras.

low res gardeners and foggy spanish stadia ain't a great idea either (afternoon games disappeared misteriuosly). Somebody should tell the japanese that spain is not england weatherwise.

Yeah, last year I had what mjp described. I'd play PES until game after game of outrageous scripting kicked in, I'd curse PES and go to FIFA. Immediately I'd think what the fk was I doing playing PES, this game is brilliant, perfect. Then 3 games in I'd realise the shallowness of it all, go back to PES and think wow, why did I leave PES in the first place!

This year I'm not at all bothered or concerned to try FIFA. It really doesn't float my boat at all. Everything that FIFA has as new feature has either been in PES for yonks or PES does better this year anyway. The only thing I probably pine for is a Career Mode with such polish like FIFA. How anybody can find enough variation in the actual gameplay sliders at el, I'll never know. The same 'moves' have been in FIFA since the dawn of time. I could almost play FIFA blind-fold and get up the other end of the pitch. to execute a diagonal shot finish. FIFA feels brilliant right up until the point that you 'get it', once you reach that point the game begins to unravel as a quite shallow representation of football.

In PES there is only a 'get it' point where you've mastered game mechanics, understood your playing style and find the right patterns of play to suit your team. And even with all this knowledge the game is still unpredictably 50-50 lol.

This is how football should be. FIFA is about finding out the games exploit areas and using them over and over again. I don't think it's possible to do this in PES because of the range of variables involved each and every match. What will work against Man Utd might no work against Stoke. You might beat Man Utd with pure football, and might concede two headed goals against Stoke.

I've said this many times over the years. When people dissed PES I thought to myself who has the harder work in the future? PES has the gameplay mechanics in place that they have to iron out the aesthetics for PES 2014. FIFA IMO has to change their game code completely in my book, it's just too static, too rigid, too predictable. They can incrementally add this and that, minor things like this first touch nonsense, but eventually they will run out of minor touches and will need to revamp the game engine itself.
