So true! You will like it, for about an hour. Then you will realise your mistake.

What difficulty do you play on?
GEAT MATE!!! That´s what I think. When you play FIFA 13 for the first time you say "woooooooooooooooowww" it´s way better then PES "=!· FOR SURE!!!! And you are right, FIFA 13 is a lot better then PES 2013.... for an hour... or may be a whole day, then you get bored. When you play PES 2013 for the first time you say "bbbfffffff" the same game another year.... but that´s the mistake. The chalenge PES 2013 offers is amazing and FIFA 13 has nothing to do with that.
I haven´t chaged the game, I still continue with my PES 2013 and my special edition with steel box of champions league.
Top Player, 15 min games
Usually on top player. Possession stats are more equal and the CPU buildup is more varied. Unfortunately, out of ten games I might win 2 draw 4 lose 4. The CPU strikers are stone cold killers.
I really enjoy professional, especially if my side is only average rated. Possession rates are slightly skewed, and the CPU plays a bit more route 1, but it does allow me time to explore all the facets of the game, including precise dribbling, various shot techniques, etc.
Still, I say mainly top player, despite the losses, in order to get the better CPU buildup. I also think 20 minute games are the preferred experience, though I find 15 minute games very good as well.
+1Finally got my copy today and got lots of playing time.
My first contact with the game was good. My first shot was a 32 meter screamer with Deco, which led me to wonder why do people complain about shots! There was not even much space between him and the ball and I tried to pull a knuckle shot (but I saw on replay it wasn't). Still, very powerful and well hit in the right corner.
Other than that... I'm quite disappointed with this game. Most of us were hoping for a mix between Demos 1 and 2. But what I got from it was a mix between Demo 2 and PES 2012! And God, I hate that game!
CPU seems able to "switch" it anytime they want, being almost unstoppable on individual skills and dribbling.
I think what went wrong with the series since 2012 is this contain/hold up system whereas you hold X (or R2 + X). This made the defensive aspect of the game on rails, whereas it seems easier to defend - but to break out from this, the CPU opponent got overpowered dribbling capabilities. This is my main issue with single player and seems to be here on PES 2013 with full force. The only difference is that we have the double tap of X, which goes a long way on some occasions.
I was having some fun while playing friendlies with Brazilian clubs. Player ID with Ronaldinho is outstanding and I created nice moves playing as Atlético Mineiro and Fluminense.
But then I moved on to UEFA Champions League exhibition mode, and CPU went full on cheating mode! I really don't know if it's because I entered as a CL match.. if I simply chose a normal Exhibition match non-related to the CL, maybe I wouldn't get that amount of cheating?
But here's what happened: I'm as Barcelona and the CPU is Juventus. Pirlo is the Messiah, he's The One. In the first match, he came dribbling past 3 guys and marching inside the box and scoring in the top corner.
At some other point I played a delicious through ball to Alexis Sanchez to hit the CPU on the break. He feels really fast (as he should) and I'm closing in on their box, but wait... who's that catching up effortlessly? Marchisio? Usain Bolt? No, it's PIRLO! The 34-year-old veteran seems to have it in his legs to chase down one of the fastest men in football. BTW, it was the 2nd Half!!!
I'm not kidding, there's some SERIOUS stat boosting going on in this game.
Not only that, but good old cheating is there, for sure. I sensed also some spell where the CPU was pressing me for a goal and things kept going their way and I didn't get a sniff of the ball until they scored. They had some 2 or 3 consecutive corners.
When people say they feel PES 2012 crawling back and creeping in, I totally know what you mean!
Aside from that, I decided to look around on features, game modes (and lack of) and edit mode changes. Well, stadium editing is the same as PES 2011 and 2012. Master League cut scenes are EXACTLY the same as 2012! Only difference is the female secretary. But everything else is exactly the same, even subtitle texts!
That's when it hit me: I'm playing an upgrade version of PES 2012 minus a game mode. A very important one, BTW.
I can't help but feel cheated (again). I can't think of other things that were added except for boots, bananas, stopwatches and dumbbells. We should be paying £10 for these half-arsed updates, FFS!
I'd love to play the Brazilian league, but in order to do so I have to go for a Master League. So I did, just to get acquainted with it. After much of that useless waffle that comes in ML, I'm playing pre-season friendlies. And it's Coritiba vs..... Anderlecht! And then I have Olympiakos and Zenit next. Very credible... Way to go to make us feel immersed, Konami!
Then looking at League structures, we have PES and WE League as the Brazilian's "neighbour" leagues. We could maybe replace those with Argentine and Chilean leagues, by editing the hell out of the game. Even so, if we create Boca Juniors and others on PES League, there will be another one (the original ones) in the Copa Libertadores. Which is a fine mess, if you ask me.
So Konami releases a ML in South America which is virtually unplayable for people who want the minimum realism. Not even a good OF could salvage this mode in this case.
So there you have it. You have all Brazilian teams licensed. But you can't play a Brazilian league on its own. Instead, go play a ML with fictitious teams in PES and WE League, playing friendlies against European clubs, cause hey, that's what mid table teams in Brazil do. NOT.
A quick look on National Teams showed that horrendous Brazil green kit. And guess what: Argentina is unlicensed now. Good Lord, is this game going backwards!
I'd probably still be playing PES 2011 if they still had support and updates for that (which they should). As for this copy, I'll probably give it another chance, after which I'll probably sell it. Gameplay was promising, and maybe this is great for multiplayer action. But I'm more of a single player ML guy. And this has been ruined for me.
That will be the end of my rant for now. I'd just like to express how underwhelmed I am with this game.
Strange not for me played it till 2am in the morning with a mate the other day and no lag(not sure why there would be if playing on same console?)
What version have you got?
You will like it, for about an hour. Then you will realise your mistake.
For now, it's Professional, 1/2 pass assistance, +1 speed for me as 0 feels a bit on the floaty side. Will keep these settings till I get the hang of it. Having mighty fun on this though. Also difficulty just a tad up because speed was increased to +1. More of a challenge now than 0, but not as hectic as +2.

Speed +1 seems like the right pace. Off the ball movements are awesome, btw.
so u are increasing the challange by setting up speed... istn that the wrong way!? us forced to adjust the speed to plus 1 to get the joy out of it!? that seems wrong to me! speed is pace of the game, not something that makes u forget (sometimes) terrible animations! its the natural pace! get used to it!
everything higher than speed setting to -1 is not real soccer... its console-soccer! good enough for some of u, but not for me!!!
konami should get the basics right and speed should be a special something for a special player...
im so looking forward to 2013... konami studios in london: dont u fuq up the game! make it better!! im so looking forward to it...
lami, havent u tried speed minus 1!? its so much more realistic!
i have everything set up manual! manual shot i disabled cause i want to get used to the whole passes gameplay. when i do nail those short passes (fully manual) ill switch to manual shooting again! its just a matter of time/patience!
theres nothing but a fully manual game!!
i dont want the cpu decide what to do and when! it should all be about input (forget about rails; they are still in there, and anoying!!)!!!
@Interista : It's now present only in ML.
@Issidingo : Fast, arcade? My opinion is far away from that. Try using some gameplay patches and reduce the speed to -2. How about now?
Cool but I could make a team of 6+ footers then.C'mon Charlie, we knew this was coming
Btw, regarding default ML player names, we can now edit their names to our liking in edit mode. I'll be changing theirs according to their nationalities, obviously. You can only edit their names, face, hairstyle, physique, accessories, and motion. Good enough for me No more kuchkilakhmen!
